- The article explains the problem of converting solar energy to electricity in the photovoltaic effect and discusses the characteristics of the performance of a solar cell. The focus was on the effect of temperature on the performance of the cell. Analysis of the data showed the negative influence of an increase in temperature on cell performance. The observed voltage drop significantly reduces the efficiency and accelerated degradation of photovoltaic cells. Methods for their cooling were considered and new generations of cells were described, as well as innovative technologies that reduce the impact of high temperatures on the PV module’s efficiency.
