Opis:: This article is a review of English-language texts on the experiences of adolescents with cancer. The aim of the article is to show the adolescents’ experiences of cancer based on available research. The review of texts includes studies conducted in the phenomenological approach. Selection of the texts based on specific criteria was followed by their analysis. The analysis was of qualitative and inductive character. Separate analytical categories are: difficulties in surviving cancer, strategies for coping with the disease and benefits of being sick, experience of support from the family and medical staff.

Tytuł:: On choosing the place : the open Wiccan rituals in the city of Warsaw

Opis:: Numerous contemporary Pagan groups conduct their ritual ceremonies outside, communing with nature. The following essay describes my research in a small, eclectic group following the Wiccan wheel of the year in Warsaw, Poland. I focus on the places used by the group, applying Edward Casey’s phenomenological approach to understand an encountered place. Three locations are presented, each of them in the bosom of nature, yet within the city borders. I particularly examine what constitutes a good ritual place according to the group members. My initial supposition was that technical aspects would prevail: privacy, accessibility and proximity of the four elements. However, the participant observation and semi-structured interviews proved that the main reason behind choosing the right place was based on the experience and the interpretation of the feeling evoked by the place: namely, whether the atmosphere was right and the entities dwelling there were seen as welcoming or not

Opis:: Freedom as a subject of academic research in psychology has always been confined to a space regarded as difficult to explore. Since the beginning of psychology as a branch of science, the discussion of freedom has been fragmented. The adoption of a specific repertoire of methodological and philosophical assumptions has ignited interest in the topic and issues of freedom. The history of freedom being present in psychology is an ongoing struggle between different paradigms regarding the nature of this subject and its associated methods of examination. During the nineties of the last century, there was a shaping of the direction referring to the achievements of humanistic psychology, as emphasizing the importance of subjective human experience. The authors of this approach, taking care of a methodological workshop and conducting a series of empirical studies, have proposed a new approach to the study of freedom in psychology. The most important achievement of the phenomenological-contextual approach was to draw attention to the possibility of exploring in scientific research the phenomenon of freedom in psychology that has been rejected as a matter of the intersection of science and philosophy.

Opis:: Current discussions on the importance of retirement are largely built on statistical analyses of longitudinal data showing that well-being seldom changes from before to after entering retirement, but is rather mainly dependent on the individual’s social resource position. In contrast, qualitatively oriented researchers underline that the retirement process is a complex life transition that needs to be further illuminated. To do this, however, we need to advance new theoretical and methodological perspectives. In this article, an existential sociology approach is outlined, emphasizing the multifaceted spectra of lived experiences and meaning-making in the retirement process. The phenomenological approaches of existential sociology allow us to consider how the exit from working life is created in the processes of motion rather than as expressions of static positions. A merit of this approach is that retirement as an empirical case may say something general about being in transition as a basic social condition. In the article, we discuss how a socio-biographical methodology, based on longitudinal qualitative interviews, helps us capture how existential meaning is formed and reformed in the ambiguous situations which arise in similar life-course transitions. Theoretically, we especially draw on concepts from the existential anthropologist Jackson and the phenomenological tradition of existential philosophers such as Arendt and Heidegger.

Opis:: This study proposed holistic human resource development model in health sector. This study focused on human resources (HR) managers and the top management of the health sector in Pakistan. Using a qualitative methodology, the researcher focused on the selected phenomenological method. In this study, primary data collection was conducted through personal interviews with human resource managers and the top management of three health organizations in Pakistan. With regard to the sampling technique, the study would be based on a specific sampling. This article presents the results of the three research objectives. The first research objective examines the development and implementation process of the human resource development model in organizations. Second, intelligence quotient and emotion quotient programs are defined by organizations within the current human resource development models. Third, this study examines the organization's understanding of spiritual quotient and evaluates awareness of the importance of spiritual quotient for the development of human resource development model. It suggests that spiritual quotient is an important part of organizational development.
W badaniu zaproponowano holistyczny model rozwoju zasobów ludzkich w sektorze opieki zdrowotnej. To badanie koncentrowało się na menedżerach ds. Zasobów ludzkich (HR) i najwyższym kierownictwie sektora opieki zdrowotnej w Pakistanie. Korzystając z metodologii jakościowej, badacz skoncentrował się na wybranej metodzie fenomenologicznej. W tym badaniu gromadzono dane pierwotne w drodze wywiadów osobistych z menedżerami ds. Zasobów ludzkich i najwyższym kierownictwem trzech organizacji zdrowotnych w Pakistanie. W odniesieniu do techniki pobierania próbek badanie opierałoby się na konkretnym pobieraniu próbek. W tym artykule przedstawiono wyniki trzech celów badawczych. Pierwszy cel badawczy dotyczy procesu opracowywania i wdrażania modelu rozwoju zasobów ludzkich w organizacjach. Po drugie, iloraz inteligencji i iloraz emocji są definiowane przez organizacje w ramach obecnych modeli rozwoju zasobów ludzkich. Po trzecie, badanie to bada zrozumienie ilorazu duchowego przez organizację i ocenia świadomość znaczenia ilorazu duchowego dla rozwoju modelu rozwoju zasobów ludzkich. Sugeruje, że iloraz duchowy jest ważną częścią rozwoju organizacji.

Opis:: The explorative study hereby presented is based on in-depth interviews with 16 renowned Israeli writers of prose and poetry. The aim of the study is to examine the identity-stories of these masters of the written word. By the term "identity-story", we relate to the self-reflective or "arspoetic" sides of the life stories our interviewees presented, the hows, whens and whys which had brought them to realize their identities as their cultures' authorized authors or poets. Thematic analysis of these stories, conducted in the spirit of the Schutzian Phenomenological-Interpretive approach, reveals an interesting interplay of two seemingly contradictory core meta-themes - identity-creation and identity-discovery. The present paper is focused on the identity-discovery meta-theme. Unlike the identitycreation meta-theme, which illustrates active, deliberate and conscious processes of identity construction within the social world, the identitydiscovery meta-theme is based on narratives that detect the belief in the feasibility of a transcendental revelation of a given identity, whose roots lies beyond the ties of time and place.

Opis:: W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych na grupie kobiet w okresie późnej dorosłości. Osoby badane zostały zapytane o relacje przyjacielskie w przeszłości oraz o to, jak podtrzymywane są obecne znajomości. Głównym celem badania było odpowiedzenie na pytanie jak kobiety w późnej dorosłości postrzegają przyjaźń i jakie ma ona dla nich znaczenie. W projekcie badawczym posłużono się założeniami metodologii jakościowej. W celu uzyskania materiału badawczego, przeprowadzono pogłębione wywiady indywidualne z dziesięcioma kobietami. Do analizy i interpretacji materiału pozyskanego z wywiadów wykorzystano Interpretacyjną Analizę Fenomenologiczną. Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły na przyjrzenie się jak ważna jest relacja przyjacielska dla kobiet oraz jak jest podtrzymywana, mimo sędziwego wieku i ograniczeń z nim związanych. Przyjaźnie zawiązywane w dzieciństwie pozostają ważnymi więziami badanych. Uczestniczki badania deklarowały posiadanie przynajmniej jednej osoby, z którą łączyła je przyjaźń, oraz wykazywały poczucie satysfakcji z obecnych znajomości. Wyniki badania wskazują na potrzebę posiadania bliskich osób przez kobiety w okresie późnej dorosłości, a także konieczność pozostawania szczerym w nawiązywaniu więzi. Kobiety nie zgadzały się ze stwierdzeniem, jakoby seniorom doskwierała samotność. Telefony komórkowe oraz dostęp do Internetu są bardzo często wykorzystywane do podtrzymywania kontaktu z przyjaciółmi.
This paper presents the results of research carried out on a group of women in late adulthood. The purpose of this study is to investigate how women in their late adulthood perceive friendships in their life. Participants were asked about their subjective understanding of friendship, perceived significance of this type of relationship, their current friendships and how they maintain them, as well as friendships in the past. The research project used the assumptions of the qualitative methodology. To obtain research material, in-depth individual interviews were conducted with ten women. The Phenomenological Interpretative Analysis was used to analyze the material obtained from the interviews. The obtained results made it possible to observe how important a friendship for women is and how it is maintained despite the old age and the limitations associated with it. The results of the study show the need for women in late adulthood to have close people.

Inspiracją teoretyczną dla narzędzia jest podejście fenomenologiczno-kontekstowe Mudynia i Westcotta. Skonstruowany kwestionariusz PKW, który jest pierwszym tak obszernym narzędziem eksplorującym przestrzeń zjawiska wolności, charakteryzuje się dobrymi właściwościami psychometrycznymi, zarówno w zakresie rzetelności, jak i trafności.
Empirical research on the phenomenon of freedom in psychology have complicated history. Freedom is a subject hard to define in psychology and operationalization of this notion faces with many difficulties. This article presents the tool which is regarded as the base for the exploration of the concept of freedom: the questionnaire Private Conceptions of Freedom. The phenomenological-contextual approach, established by Mudyń and Westcott, was the groundwork to construct this questionnaire. The psychometric evaluation of the questionnaire Private Conceptions of Freedom, both in terms of reliability and validity, was satisfactory.

The work aims to show the variability of experience in fulfilling the role of a parent from the perspective of a person of seniors. Part of the research was based on interviews, which showed the variability in the experience of roles. Another aspect of this work is to present the values in the role of grandmother and grandfather, and presenting their orientation about the changes that take place in the course of life.
