Systemy rur wykorzystywane są także w przemyśle energetycznym – za ich pomocą przesyłane jest ciepło i gaz. Poszukiwanie coraz lepszych materiałów i technologii wykonywania rur sprawia, że znajdują zastosowanie w nawet najtrudniejszych realizacjach.
We usually think very little of the omnipresence of pipes in our environment. Pipes are used to supply water and drain sewage. Pipe systems are also used in the power industry to supply heat and gas. With constant improvement of materials and technology, pipes now find application even in the most complicated projects.

Czy polskie pochodzenie Zbigniewa Brzezińskiego i Richarda Pipesa miało wpływ na prowadzoną przez nich politykę. (Analiza na wybranych przykładach)

Opis:: The aim of this thesis is to present two very prominent characters of American politics and scholar. These are Zbigniew Brzezinski – National Security Adviser under president Jimmy Carter, and Richard Pipes – Director of East European and Soviet Affairs in Ronald Reagan's administration. Both of them were born in Poland and then emigrated to the United States where they became important figures in American political and scholarly life. First Chapter of the thesis consists of short biographies of both characters describing their early childhood in Poland, reasons and the way they emigrated from Poland and their further careers in the United States. It is also a short comparison of their lives and political careers to prove that although they had similar experience their opinions on same issues can differ.Second Chapter includes description of political situation in Poland in December 1980 and December 1981. It is an analysis of both those situations in which Poland was endangered by Soviet invasion and an attempt to explain why – despite the situation was similar in both cases situations ended differently. Moreover, the present thesis includes presentation and comparison of Zbigniew Brzezinski and Richard Pipes’ politics towards Poland and Poland's affairs. In what cases they agreed and in what they had different opinions, especially concerning Soviet Union and American politics towards it. The thesis also includes their action and opinions concerning issues that follow their active political careers and are in some ways related to Poland, for example, Helsinki Act and the importance of human rights, enlargement of NATO.The last part of the present thesis is answer to the question whether their interest and some political actions towards Poland and Polish affairs was a matter of their Polish descent or Poland's strategic location in Europe.
Celem pracy jest przedstawienie dwóch znaczących postaci polskiego pochodzenia w Amerykańskiej polityce. Zbigniewa Brzezińskiego - doradcy do spraw bezpieczeństwa narodowego prezydenta Jimmiego Cartera oraz Richarda Pipesa - doradcy do spraw Związku Radzieckiego i Europy Wschodniej w administracji prezydenta Ronalda Reagana. Praca zawiera krótkie biografie obu postaci, ich drogę od przedwojennej Polski, przez ich edukację aż po wysokie stanowiska państwowe.W pracy znajdują się również opisy sytuacji w Polsce w grudniu 1980 kiedy to administracji prezydenta Cartera udało się udaremnić interwencję zbrojną Związku Radzieckiego w Polsce oraz w grudniu 1981 kiesy w Polsce został wprowadzony stan wojenny.Ostatnia część pracy to kilka przykładów sytuacji pośrednio lub bezpośrednio związanych z Polską w których Zbigniew Brzeziński i Richard Pipes brali udział lub wyrażali swoje zdanie, często odmienne. Ta część zawiera również próbę odpowiedzenia na pytanie czy zainteresowanie Zbigniewa Brzezińskiego i Richarda Pipesa Polską i polskimi sprawami wynika z ich polskiego pochodzenia czy strategicznego położenia Polski w Europie.

Current multifaceted development in trenchless technologies include diagnostic equipment, materials, coatings, technologies and equipment used in both construction and renovation of networks. On the market, there are also increasingly newer, better and more versatile material and structural solutions in pipes for the construction and renewal of networks in trenchless technologies. This article reviews pipes used in trenchless technologies and offers from selected manufacturers in the field.

Autobiografia jako narzędzie badań historyka idei : casus "Wspomnień niezależnego" Richarda Pipesa

Opis:: The aim of the article is to develop a research tool for a historian of ideas in the form of an autobiography. It is about framing when a personal document meets the criteria of being a tool for a historian of political thought. The conclusions included the thought that the memories must be meta-considerations on the subject of written autobiography or an analysis of the problem of auto-biography within the framework of the created philosophy or history vision. Examples representing this narrative type were left by, among others, Johann Gottfried Herder, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Thomas Carlyle, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Friedrich Nietzsche, Benedetto Croce, Robin G. Collingwood, and in Poland Stanisław Brzozowski. The volume of Richard Pipes’ memoirs, Memoirs of a Non-belonger, which is the foundation for the analysis, has also become part of the trend. The most important thinkers who have studied the issue of autobiography in depth include Wilhelm Dilthey and Georg Misch. The conclusions of the analysis are as follows: autobiography has a philosophical and epistemological meaning in the field of knowledge about human nature. In this sense, autobiography becomes part of anthropology, while anthropology is the foundation for the history of ideas, including political thought.

Opis:: This paper presents the results of diagnostic examinations conducted on the water pipe made of grey cast iron that were operated in conditions for 260 thousand hours. The tube was exposed in a soil. The phase composition of the deposit layers formed on both sides of the tube walls (outside and inside) was examined using optical and confocal microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The obtained XRD test results showed that mainly -FeOOH) and γ-FeOOH is formed on the inside of the pipe wall. In turn, on the outside, in addition to the above-mentioned compounds, also SiO2 is formed. The results of these examinations have shown a higher degradation of pipe on the outer side. The arithmetic mean deviation of the profile from the mean line was 6.23 µm and 8.07 µm for the inner and outer side of the pipe wall, respectively. The work demonstrates the usefulness of material science, especially X-ray structure, topography and surface studies, in characterizing the degradation processes of layers formed on gray cast iron exploited in the water supply industry.

Opis:: This paper presents an investigation of Ignalina NPP reactor’s main circulated circuit (MCC) pipeline welded joints materials fracture toughness properties. Standard compact C(T)-1T specimens containing “V” and “K” – type welds were cut off from the various MCC pipe’s zones, produced from the 19Mn5 steel pipe and welded by electrodes UTP-068HH, YONI-13/55 and CT-36. Critical J – integraf JIc values were defined Rusing J–R curve test method, which results on determination of J – integral values as a function of crack extension ?a. The investigation enables to calculate critical crack length ?amax and ?ac sizes and J – integral JIc, Jmax and JPmax values, which are used to predict safe service lifetime of the cracked pipelines.

Opis:: One of the most important elements of heat exchangers are perforated bottoms. These are perforated plates of significant thickness, in which heating cartridge pipes are mounted. For the designers of heat exchangers, the strength analusis of the connection between the elements, which allows for the determination of the state of stress and calculation of displacements of the perforated bottom after fixing the pipes in it, is of special importance. It results from carried out computations that the maximum reduced stresses in the perforated bottom are significantly lower than the values of admissible stresses. In this paper, computations of stresses and strains for various thicknesses of the perforated bottom have been presented. As a results of a decrease in the thickness of the perforated bottom, its deflectionincrease, and thus the heating system pipes are more exposed to strains and losses of stability.
Jednym z istotnych elementów wymiennika ciepła są dna sitowe - płyty perforowane o znacznej grubości, w których zamocowane są rurki wkładu grzewczego. Dla konstruktorów wymienników ciepła istotna jest analiza wytrzymałościowa połączenia pozwalająca na określenie stanu naprężeń oraz obliczenie przemieszczeń dna sitowego po zamocowaniu rurek. Z przeprowadzonych obliczeń wynika, że maksymalne naprężenia zredukowane w dnie sitowym są dużo niższe od wartości naprężeń dopuszczalnych. W pracy przedstawiono obliczenia naprężeń i odkształceń dla różnych grubości dna sitowego. Na skutek zmniejszenia grubości dna sitowego zwiększa się jego napięcia, przez co rurki wkładu grzewczego bardziej są narażone na utratę stateczności.
