Opis:
From 2012 The Polish Naval Academy take part in an international research project SIRAMIS, carried out in the framework of the European Defence Agency. The objective of this project is to improve the understanding of ship signature interaction with multi influence sensors in relevant and realistic scenario's. This paper describes selected results of the comparison results of sea trials and model calculations of the hydrodynamic field distribution around a moving ship in selected waters of The Gulf of Gdansk. Despite the good results of the comparison of calculations and measurements of pressure signature on the example of a passenger ship, some measurements deviate significantly from the theoretical results. Due to the lack of reproducibility of these deviations may be due to errors in reading real position of underwater measurement modules. This comparison allows increasing the reliability of theoretical calculations by the results of measurements, and it is expected that the development of this method allows determining the parameters of the pressure under the hull at any point situated at a distance of not more than 1 meter from the seabed.

Opis:
Working and moving in confined, limited and narrow spaces, specific to underground mining activities, also requires the use of hydraulically operated equipment, capable of developing large forces, with small dimensions. An example of such equipment includes pumping units comprising low-pressure electric pumps and oscillating hydraulic pressure intensifiers. They use low pressure in the primary side of the intensifier and generate high pressure in the secondary side of the intensifier. Such pumping units are usually used to achieve and maintain high pressure, either in the volumes of closed spaces (in strength tests on pipes and tanks) or at the end of the active stroke of hydraulic cylinders (in hydraulic presses). On an experimental laboratory bench, which comprises a test cylinder, powered by a pumping unit, equipped with an oscillating hydraulic pressure intensifier, and a load cylinder, powered by another pumping unit, with the possibility of load control, the authors show that: the application range of these pumping units can be extended in the third direction, too, useful for underground mining activities, namely for drive of hydraulic cylinders with low gauge / displacement speeds and constant high load (high working pressure) over the entire working stroke length; the uniformity of displacement of these cylinders, with load throughout the stroke length, which are powered and driven with such pumping units, is slightly affected by the pulsating mode of operation of the hydraulic pressure intensifier. A set of experimental measurement results is presented for a constant value of the load over the entire displacement stroke of the test cylinder.

Opis:
Purpose: To present the results of surgical treatment concerning pressure ulcers. Materials and methods: All patients underwent surgical treatment at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic from 1997 to 2016. One operator performed the procedures. A total of 28 pressure ulcers were operated (25 patients). The clinical material consisted of 15 pressure ulcers located in the lower back area, six pressure ulcers located in the ischial area, three pressure ulcers located in the trochanteric area and four pressure ulcers located in the heel area. Results: One conducted the result evaluation based on the criteria of complications proposed by Seiler. In case of all surgically treated patients, pressure ulcers appeared after 2-5 weeks after the surgery. One patient experienced hematoma below the slide piece. One could observe seroma in case of 5 patients. In this situation, it was required to apply a local postoperative puncture. Four patients experienced marginal skin necrosis (2 of them required resection of dead skin edges in operating block conditions which were later re-stitched using “side to side” technique). During the 3-year follow-up, there was no recurrence of operated pressure ulcers. Conclusions: Deep septic pressure ulcers, according to the division introduced by Seiler, connected with bone infection require the application of muscular-skin pieces. This procedure is aimed at improving local tissue blood supply. Proper preoperative preparation of the patient, careful planning of the surgery and suitable postoperative treatment of the patient are as significant as the surgery itself.

Opis:
Different oil companies place shallow casing strings at different depths. Apparently there is no general method or procedure that gives the optimal location. This article is an attempt to define this optimum casing seat location. The potential benefits will improve safety and economy of the operation. The two major factors determine the depth of the casing shoe, that is, the fracture pressure and the pore pressure. A third factor is the lithology, because it is desirable to place the casing shoe in a competent shale section. The methods of predicting fracture gradients for deeper wells already exist. In this article, a method of predicting fracture gradients for shallow well has been derived. This method is combined with kick tolerance criteria to obtain a casing depth selection method. Also, the variation in fracture pressures at any depth has been investigated.
