Opis:: Obesity is a significant social and health problem of societies world wide. Nowadays, the percentage of children suffering from overweight is increasing. This is the result of nutrition mistakes done during the first years of a young person’s life, and the lack of parental knowledge about the rules of proper nutrition. School-aged children suffering from overweight are clearly exposed to obesity in adulthood. The authors undertook to assess the nutritional habits of children attending primary schools located in the province of Lublin. The survey was conducted among a group of 150 students from three primary schools in the Lublin province. As a research method, the authors set up a survey in the printed version. The data obtained were compiled and analyzed in the Statistica 13™ (DellSoftware, USA). Over one-third (36.7%) of the children taking part in the study eat the recommended daily number of meals. Eating in the intervals between the main meals is often observed among the respondents (77.3%). Daily consumption of dairy products was declared by 20.8% of girls and 35.6% of boys. In questions about the promotion of healthy eating programs carried out at schools, the “Fruit and Vegetables at School” program was the most popular. The children who took part in the study showed mostly incorrect eating habits. The current situation requires further research and taking decisive steps by healthcare professionals, educators and parents. Consistent steps in existing programs promoting a healthy eating style will improve the epidemiological situation of abnormal nutrition among early-childhood children in the near future.

Opis:: The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, including cancers, is becoming a very serious public health problem. The main risk factor in its etiology is life style including unhealthy diet and low level of physical activity. Knowledge and health awareness regarding this issue is an essential element of oncological prevention and education aimed at changing people’s behaviour toward health-oriented. Presented results are a part of broader diagnostic activities undertaken within the Onkogranty II project. They include an analysis of internal and external preventive programs implemented in schools in Bytom in the context cancer risk factors such as low physical activity and unhealthy diet. The analysis shows that in the surveyed schools many activities are undertaken to promote a healthy diet and physical activity, but in most cases there is no reference to the cancer prevention. Many initiatives are action-based, not supported by the diagnosis of the school community’s health needs. The results obtained show that the selection of a preventive program should be preceded by a diagnosis of the needs of both students, parents and the entire school/local community. After its implementation, it would be necessary to evaluate the actions taken to assess the effectiveness of the program and introduce the necessary modifications. It is also worth taking care of regularity and helicity of the transmitted content in order to consolidate and systematize the knowledge and skills of students. Above all, taking into account epidemiological data on the prevalence of cancer, content related to oncological prevention should be included in school’s preventive and educational programs as well as in health education.

Opis:: The aim of the article is to present the assumptions of the prevention of sexual violence against children in the school environment. Child sexual abuse has become a global problem that affects not only the family environment, but educational institutions as well. One example of such an institution is a school where, under the guise of upbringing, there may be numerous abuses committed by people who are an authority in the child’s life. School staff members are often unaware of institutional grooming and its perpetrators, which means that the entire institution may unknowingly contribute to promoting child sexual abuse. The author first presents the methods of grooming used by perpetrators, pointing to activities aimed at children and the mechanisms of institutional grooming that may create a specific culture that makes it difficult to protect children. The author then presents the standards and strategies for prevention in schools, paying attention to the need to involve the entire community: conducting proper recruitment and training of employees and constructing preventive programs adapted to the age and development of children and their proper implementation.

Niniejsza praca jest próba prezentacji danych pozyskanych w badaniach ankietowych na temat percepcji szkolnych programów profilaktycznych przez uczniów i nauczycieli małopolskich szkół ponadgimnazjalnych.

Based on the literature review, the most important elements of preventive programs that affect their effectiveness are presented.The author aimed to emphasize the importance of preventive measures that realistically raise knowledge and strengthen children’s skills in responding to disturbing sexual behavior.

Opis:: Praca przedstawia charakterystykę i ewaluację policyjnych programów profilaktycznych w województwie pomorskim. Policja realizuje zadania z obszaru bezpieczeństwa i porządku publicznego ukierunkowane na poprawę stanu bezpieczeństwa. Działania te wynikają z Ustawy o Policji. Każdy program wymaga od realizujących go policjantów rzetelnej diagnozy problemów społecznych. Realizacja programu profilaktycznego wymaga nie tylko świadomości istniejących paradoksów, ale także rozwagi, wyobraźni i odpowiedzialności wszystkich realizatorów programu. Problem badawczy zogniskowany jest wokół działalności profilaktycznej Policji, a w szczególności obszarów objętych profilaktyką społeczną. Badanie procesów ewaluacji polegało na wykorzystaniu metody badawczej o charakterze ilościowym i jakościowym tj. autorskiej ankiety ewaluacyjnej programu, nadesłanej przez pomorskie jednostki Policji oraz analizy dokumentów pomorskiej Policji.
This paper presents characteristic and evaluation of Police’s social prevention programs in Pomeranian district. The Police performs actions in security as well as social order focused on improving the safety level. These arise strictly from the Police Act. Each of those programs requires, form the Policemen fulfilling it a deep and detailed analysys of social issues. It involves not only the awarness of occuring paradoxes but also consideration, imagination as well as responsibilty of all the program implementers. The research problem is focused on Police preventive actions in particular with the areas encompassed by social preventive programs. Examination of the evaluation processes required using research metod of quantitive and qualitative nature, which was an author’s poll, evaluating the program sent by Police units from Pomeranian district as well as the analysis of documents of Pomeranian’s district Police units.
