This paper is concerned with deriving, using the Volterra integral equation, a production function for a single product firm financing off-the-job training from its revenue from output. The short-run scenario where labour is the only variable factor of production is studied within the ambit of the law of diminishing returns and the condition for profit-maximization. The study utilizes the Cobb-Douglas production function wherein capital is fixed as a theoretical underpinning. The results indicate that the production function of the firm is a transcendental function and that the proportion of output required to finance the training lies within an interval with a definite upper bound.

Opis:
The paper focuses on the neoclassical production function and its influence on the economic growth model proposed by N. Gregory Mankiw, David Romer and David N. Weil [1992]. The model is an expanded version of the traditional neoclassical model developed by Robert M. Solow [1956]. In the context of the production function, the author examines the influence of scale effects on long-term growth and basic macroeconomic variables such as output, physical capital, human capital and consumption per worker. He also reviews scale effects in terms of Edmund S. Phelps’ golden rules of capital accumulation [1961, 1966]. The analysis includes differential equations of the type used by Bernoulli and Riccati to describe increases in physical and human capital stock per unit of effective labor (in the case of constant scale effects) and increases in capital stock growth rates (in the case of decreasing and growing scale effects). The paper ends with a number of important conclusions. First, under constant scale effects, the long-term rates of growth for basic macroeconomic variables are equal to the rate of Harrod-neutral technological progress (which is an exogenous variable in the Mankiw-Romer-Weil model). Second, under decreasing/growing scale effects, these rates are lower/higher than the rate of Harrod-neutral technological progress. Third, repealing the constant-scale-effects assumption in the Mankiw-Romer-Weil growth model does not change the golden rules of capital accumulation because, regardless of whether scale effects decrease, grow or are constant, the golden rule of accumulation holds that the structure of investment rates corresponds to the elasticities of output with regard to physical and human capital inputs.

The article describes some possibilities of using the production function for the theoretical analysis of agricultural economics. It’s proposed a some approaches to the analysis of Agricultural economy in the Poland as national economy part and Agricultural economy in the Republic of Buryatia1 as regional economy part. The mathematic models are made for both cases, the results is obtained, which show the production functions efficiency for macroeconomic analysis.

Opis:
The paper focuses on the link between infrastructure and productivity in the Polish economy. The researcher aims to estimate the direct elasticity of GDP with regard to infrastructure and check the indirect influence of infrastructure on productivity. The adopted research method is based on estimating a three-factor production function for Poland, covering capital, labor and infrastructure. Two forms of the production function were adopted, the Cobb-Douglas function and the translog function. The production function was estimated on the basis of data for Poland’s 16 provinces in 2000-2006. The findings obtained by the author show that infrastructure is an important factor influencing production. The estimated direct elasticity of GDP to infrastructure ranged from 0.11 to 0.22 depending on the production function and the variables used. This level of elasticity is compatible with research findings for other countries, the author says. However, Mackiewicz-Łyziak’s research yielded no conclusive findings on the influence of infrastructure on productivity in the case of other production factors.

Opis:
A decision-making process is considered for a firm, in which two coexisting groups of interests pursue different goals. An original model based on a non-neoclassical production function is proposed. The function satisfies the conditions formulated by R. Frisch, which makes it possible to investigate firms operating in the environment far from the perfect competition and pursuing goals other than profit maximization. A two-criteria optimization problem is formulated with the two criteria representing the goals of the groups: maximization of profit and maximization of income generated by the firm with respect to capital and labor. The problem is considered in two variants of the product market, namely the perfect and the imperfect competition. Solutions of the problem are analyzed including the derived Pareto sets. The importance of knowledge about the Pareto set in negotiations between the groups of interests in the firm is illustrated and discussed.

Opis:
This paper explores an aggregated production function, built on the distribution of production capacity with a limited age. Technologies are determined at the time of capacity creation. With increasing age, production capacity is decreasing, keeping the number of workplaces. The lowest labour input and the coefficient of capital intensity are reduced due to scientific and technological progress. The parameters of this production function were identified by parallel calculations according to the data of the Polish economy 1970-2017. The economic interpretation of the obtained results is given.

Opis:
The paper aims to show that the Nonneman-Vanhoudt growth model with the n-capital CES macroeconomic production functionis asymptotically stable in a certain environment. The Nonneman-Vanhoudt model of economic growth is conducted with an assumption that the CES production function is described by a system of ordinary differential equations. To investigate the stability of the model, a criterion resulting from the Hartman-Grobman theorem was used. The stability of this model means that if the structure of resources, the investment rate, and the rate of capital depreciation change slightly, the economy will tend toward astationary point that can be regarded as a long-term equilibrium in the considered model of economic growth. The author examines the properties of the growth model and focuses on factors including the growth of labor productivity, equipment and output per unit of effective labor.

Opis:
This article shows that the effectiveness of the education system can be measured without taking into account the socio-economic environment of students. The use of AVE (Educational added value), which is a measure of the aforementioned effectiveness of the education system, should be accompanied by an analysis of the level of local socio-economic development. These formulations include a certain inconsistency. It stems from the fact that the modelling of AVE using previous educational achievements of students (at the preceding stage) does not take into account the impact of variables modifying these educational achievements. It is assumed that a student’s individual family, economic and social situations do not change so rapidly as to affect their educational attainments in the next stage of education. However, research conducted in Poland show that socio-economic variables in areas of local government units strongly modify the AVE. This phenomenon was the reason for proposing the correction in the system of education funding. The proposed model of funding education takes into account the qualitative factors of educational processes. The implementation of such a model should, in the long term, improve the quality of human capital in society.

Opis:
The paper presents the DEA+ method as a tool for estimating the production function and the measure of technical efficiency in data points. A multi-product case is considered. Presentation of the underlying semiparametric frontier model is followed by demonstration of the very algorithm of DEA+ and a discussion of its validity. Finally, the method is illustrated with an empirical example with selected model distributions for each random variable constituting the composed error.
