Opis:: Contemporary conservation-restoration practice is affected by theoretical and ethical principles and by social factors. They are often discussed separately, but their effect on the processes of conservation-restoration is complex and intertwined. This paper offers an overview of the development of professional codes of ethics in conservation-restoration and as they relate to and inform professional competences. It looks at how ethics and competences are defined and link with professional education. It also discusses relationships with other professions in the preservation of cultural heritage and the need for clarification on the role and obligation of these respective professions. The legal and social issues they generate at a European level are touched upon.

Opis:: W artykule zaprezentowano analizę obrotu dobrami kultury w Polsce z perspektywy istniejących problemów i zagrożeń. Krajowy rynek dzieł sztuki jako rynek młody jest narażony na występowanie zjawisk typowych dla rynków sztuki. Jednakże można także zaobserwować na nim występowanie mechanizmów, które są właściwe tylko temu rynkowi – zjawisko działaczy sprzedających dzieła sztuki i nieprowadzących działalności gospodarczej. Analiza wskazuje, że obniżenie ryzyka na rynku i zminimalizowanie zagrożeń może być osiągnięte poprzez zastosowanie nowej regulacji prawnej i samoregulacji uczestników rynku. W tym zakresie ważne jest dostosowanie regulacji do prawa międzynarodowego i unijnego.
This article presents the art market in Poland with a focus on existing problems and potential threats to its transparency. The Polish art market is young and therefore vulnerable when it comes to globally occurring trends and shifts. However, there are some trends that are typical for the Polish realm, such as the existence of non-professionals who are connected to the cultural sector because of their profession (art historians, monuments conservators, museum collaborators, journalists) and act successfully as middlemen. Diminishing risks and mitigating threats is possible with an introduction of new legal regulations and future art market self-regulation. In this regard, applicable international and European legal instruments must be taken into account.

Opis:: The article refers to the meta-theoretical aspects of contemporary reflec-tion about so-called ethics engineering in the context of ethics division be-tween: meta-ethics, normative ethics and sociology of morality. Analyses are based on the context of meta-ethical general principles attributable to the con-temporary discourse of engineering ethics, such as: cognitivism in naturalistic and anti-naturalistic version. Ethics engineering in its present form does not constitute a single conceptually self-mainstream ethical or philosophical disci-pline, but its nature of the idea reflects in “applied ethics”.

Opis:: The article discusses problems of image development in selected professional engineering communities, as expressed in their ethical codes. Specific codified norms are presented and their likely effects discussed on two levels: personal and social. The findings show, that not all of the codes of ethics solve the development problem identically, with the differences likely to cause some variability in be-havioural patterns among members of the professional societies. The analysis suggests the need for further research and analyses as well as the standardization of codified solutions to this problem among professional engineering societies.

Opis:: The specific nature of the work of journalists demands basic honesty in the implementation of journalistic mission. The best way to fulfill this mission is fidelity to the codes of ethics of journalism. The tasks facing journalists are a big challenge, but they are doable if the journalist remains faithful to professional ethics, which indicates the need to fully engage on the side of truth and goodness, the fundamental values of each media coverage. The author justifies the thesis, referring to the thought of John Paul II, about the need for professional ethics in the media, through which journalists, by their vocation and their professional commitments, will serve the basic human values: truth, justice, freedom and love, and will contribute to building a social order based on these values.

Opis:: The article analyses various contemporary codes of scholar ethics which seem to concentrate on minor and pathological problems of scholar’s work (such as plagiarism) and pass over the crucial and universal moral principles of intellectuals. Instead, the article offers the alternative set of ethical rules, which refer to classical Aristotelian moral philosophy as well as to medieval Parisian university tradition. The author underlines such values as worth of truth, reliability of research and moral equipment of the scholar. These values constitute the basis of sketching “scholar’s Decalogue”, i.e., ten principle rules, which should be kept and obeyed by every scholar and scientist.

This article is about issues of professional ethics in Public Relations. In addition to a brief description of the ethical and professional dilemmas in the PR profession, it contains the results of the survey conducted among employees of cities committed in the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia – spokespersons, employees of departments of communication, promotion and information, etc. – which is associated with fraud in PR. It is a voice in the discussion about the use of codes of ethics in the PR industry.

Opis:: In recent years we have seen a spontaneous attempt to define the ethics of individual professions. A manifestation of this phenomenon are various codes of ethics developed, adopted or proposed in different environments and occupational groups. Often the consul-tations and discussions on ethical issues are also invited educators. Taken considerations also argue for the importance of ethics education work. Its problems lie in education, espe-cially in the ideas of education through work and for work that should not be indifferent to the educators. Opis:: Artykuł poświęcony jest zagadnieniu konfliktu ról społecznych w działalności zawodowej wykonywanej w tzw. wolnych zawodach, w szczególności przez pracowników naukowych. Zwrócono uwagę na rodzaje konfliktów oraz na ich znaczenie dla etycznego wymiaru aktywności zawodowej i przypomniano, że konflikt bywa czynnikiem zachowania równowagi aksjologicznej w społeczeństwie i jego funkcjonalnej sprawności.
The article discusses the issue of the conflict between social roles in the professional activity pursued by so-called liberal professions, especially by researchers. It offers a normative approach to the issue as covered in the Code of Ethics for Research Workers (Kodeks Etyki Pracownika Naukowego) and in the Code of Good Practices in Universities (Dobre Praktyki w Szkołach Wyższych). Emphasis has been placed on the types of conflicts and on their significance to the ethical aspect of professional activity, accompanied by a simultaneous reminder that conflict tends to be a factor contributing to the axiological balance in society and to society’s efficiency.
