Opis:: Surface roughness has an important influence on the service performance and life of parts. Areal surface roughness has the advantage of accurately and comprehensively characterizing surface microtopography. Understanding the relationship and distinction between profile and areal surface roughness is conducive to deepening the study of areal surface roughness and improving its application. In this paper, the concepts, development, and applications of surface roughness in the profile and the areal are summarized from the aspect of evaluation parameters. The relationships and differences between surface roughness in the profile and the areal are analyzed for each aspect, and future development trends are identified.

Opis:: Surface roughness is an important indicator in the evaluation of machining and product quality, as well as a direct factor affecting the performance of components. A rapidly developing filtering technology has become the main means of extracting surface roughness. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is constantly updating and improving the standard system for filtering technology in order to meet the requirements of technological development. Based on the filters already accepted by the international standard ISO 16610, this study briefly introduces the filtering principle of each filter, reviews the development of each filter in the application of surface roughness, and compares the advantages and limitations of their individual performances. The application range of each filter is summarized and, finally, the future direction of the digital filtering used in surface roughness is extrapolated.

Opis:: This study proposes a surface profile and roughness measurement system for a fibre-optic interconnect based on optical interferometry. On the principle of Fizeau interferometer, an interference fringe is formed on the fibre end-face of the fibre-optic interconnect, and the fringe pattern is analysed using the Fast Fourier transform method to reconstruct the surface profile. However, as the obtained surface profile contains some amount of tilt, a rule for estimating this tilt value is developed in this paper. The actual fibre end-face surface profile is obtained by subtracting the estimated tilt amount from the surface profile, as calculated by the Fast Fourier transform method, and the corresponding surface roughness can be determined. The proposed system is characterized by non-contact measurement, and the sample is not coated with a reflector during measurement. According to the experimental results, the difference between the roughness measurement result of an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and the measurement result of this system is less than 3 nm.

Opis:: Mierzenie profilu gleby w obszarze rolnictwa i ochrony środowiska ma wielostronne wykorzystanie. Chodzi głównie o ilościową ocenę jakości pracy narzędzi do uprawy roli, a także określenie stanu powierzchni gleby przed siewem. Do tego celu autorzy wykonali prototyp laserowego profilomierza, którego głównymi częściami są laserowy sensor Banner LT3 umieszczony razem z urządzeniem sterującym, przetwornik itp. na wózku, napędzanym silniczkiem elektrycznym, poruszającym się po aluminiowej drodze. Ten laserowy sensor co 20 mm wykonuje pomiary określające odległość do powierzchni gleby. Celem badań było określenie niektórych właściwości laserowego sensora jakimi są: pomiar liniowy, czułość na barwę powierzchni oraz określenie optymalnej granicy pomiaru laserem sensorowym.
Soil profile measurements in the fields of agriculture and environment protection have numerous applications. We are mainly talking about quantitative evaluation of work quality of agricultural tools, and determination of soil surface quality condition before sowing. For this purpose, the authors made a prototype laser profile measurement gauge consisting of the following main parts: Banner LT3 laser sensor installed together with a control unit, converter etc. on a cart driven by an electric motor, running on an aluminium track. Every 20 mm this laser sensor performs measurements specifying the distance to soil surface. The purpose of the research was to determine certain properties of the laser sensor, including: linear measurement, sensitivity to surface colour, and optimum boundary of sensor laser measurement.

Opis:: W rozdziale przedstawiono wyniki badań chropowatości powierzchni elementów kostki Rubika wykonanych z mosiądzu MO58 przy użyciu tokarki DMG MORI CLX 350 V4. W celu analizy wpływu noża skrawającego na właściwości powierzchni przeprowadzono badania profilografometryczne. Stwierdzono, że rodzaj obróbki wykończeniowej oraz użyte do niej narzędzia wpływają bezpośrednio na uzyskane wyniki chropowatości powierzchni. W celu analizy profilu powierzchni wykorzystano obserwacje mikroskopowe. Analiza mikroskopowa wykazała, że w badanych elementach profile powierzchni wykazują odmienne wartości dla pomiarów liniowych oraz powierzchniowych.
The chapter presents the results of surface roughness tests of Rubik’s cube elements made of MO58 brass using DMG MORI CLX 350 V4 lathe. In order to analyze the impact of the cutting knife on the surface properties, profilographometric tests were carried out. It was found that the type of finishing treatment and the tools used for it have a direct influence on the surface roughness results obtained. Microscopic observations were used to analyze the surface profile. Microscopic analysis showed that surface profiles show different values for linear and surface measurements.

Opis:: Równość podłużna jest jednym z parametrów techniczno-eksploatacyjnych opisujących stan nawierzchni drogowej. Najczęściej do jej oceny wykorzystywany jest międzynarodowy wskaźnik równości IRI. W artykule opisano wyniki porównania równości podłużnej zdefiniowanej za pomocą wskaźnika IRI dla profilu nawierzchni pobocza utwardzonego pomierzonego przyrządami geodezyjnymi oraz z wykorzystaniem profilografu laserowego. W efekcie porównania wartości wskaźnika IRI obliczonych dla profili uzyskanych metodą statyczną i uzyskanych z pomiaru profilografem stwierdzono, że względna różnica między wartościami IRI może być mniejsza niż 2%.
Road roughness is one of the characteristics of technical-operational features describing the condition of the road pavement. For this purpose the International Roughness Index IRI is used in most cases. The article describes the results of comparison of pavement roughness defined by the IRI for the emergency lane surface profile measured by using both geodetic instruments and a profilograph. As a result of comparing the IRI values it was found that the relative difference between IRI values may be less than 2%.
