Opis:
An on-line phase measurement profilometry based on improved Stoilov’s algorithm is proposed to measure the 3D shape of moving object. While only one frame sinusoidal grating is projected on the moving object, the equal phase-shifting step deformed patterns modulated by profile of the measured object can be captured at every equivalent moving distance of the measured object instead of digital phase-shifting. Stoilov’s algorithm is an equal phase-shifting step algorithm at an arbitrary phase-shifting step, which is suitable for on-line phase measurement profilometry. However, the arbitrary phase-shifting step of Stoilov’s algorithm depends on the captured deformed patterns, in which the digitized errors of digital light projector or CCD camera, and the disturbance of surrounding light could be introduced, it will lead to some abnormities in wrapped phase, such as the denominator in Stoilov’s algorithm could be zero, which could cause the reconstructed 3D profile of the measured object appear burr, distortion or aberration, even could not be reconstructed. So an on-line phase measurement profilometry based on improved Stoilov’s algorithm is proposed. The arbitrary phase-shifting step is retrieved by both pixel matching and fringe cycle calibration rather than the captured deformed patterns. Experiments verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed on-line phase measurement profilometry.

Opis:
A method for probing refractive index changes in photorefractive crystals using an interferometric technique and digital image processing was proposed. Based on equal thickness interference in LiNbO3 crystal and Fourier transform profilometry, we obtained phase value changes in interferograms induced by a photorefractive effect, and further calculated refractive index changes. The maximal values for extraordinary light (e-light) and ordinary light (o-light) are 6.6×10–4 and 1.2×10–4, respectively.

Opis:
The paper presents two methods of digital mapping of rock walls in three dimensional space. The methods have been developed with the use of low-cost devices, which enable image acquisition, and processing methods based on digital image processing and analysis. Both methods are based on so-called shadow profilometry. One of those methods involved mapping the shape of the rock wall on casted mapped surface with analyzed laser lines. The second method was based on the analysis of projected set of bit planes. The planes were projected by computer projector. Both measurement methods have been tested in Miękinia porphyry quarry. The study involved rock wall measurements, which were repeated several times. The part of rock material was removed from the measured wall after each measurement. In order to verify the accuracy of the proposed methods of measurement, volume results obtained and based on digital methods were compared to the volume of removed rock material during measurement. Calculated results were characterized by small deviations which prove to be correct, and are a solid basis for further work on practical application of presented methods.

Opis:
In order to completely eliminate, or greatly reduce the number of phase wraps in 2D wrapped phase map, Gdeisat and co-workers proposed an algorithm, which uses shifting the spectrum towards the origin. But the spectrum can be shifted only by an integer number, meaning that the phase wraps reduction is often not optimal. In addition, Gdeisat’s method will take much time to make the Fourier transform, inverse Fourier transform, select and shift the spectral components. In view of the above problems, we proposed an improved method for phase wraps elimination or reduction. First, the wrapped phase map is padded with zeros, the carrier frequency of the projected fringe is determined by high resolution, which can be used as the moving distance of the spectrum. And then realize frequency shift in spatial domain. So it not only can enable the spectrum to be shifted by a rational number when the carrier frequency is not an integer number, but also reduce the execution time. Finally, the experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method is feasible.

Opis:
The paper reports experimental results of the analysis of the 145Cr6 steel surface after erosion using the profilometrical technique by means of interferometry streaks. Erosive tests were carried out using abrasive containing quartz sand used in water jet cutting. Differences in the intensity of erosive wear were dependent on the angle of the abrasive stream (10°; 15°; 20°; 30°; 60°; 90°). In order to determine the characteristic features of the surface layer after the impact of the erosive stream, its characteristic parameters, such as roughness Ra and Sa for linear and field measurements, were analysed. Geometrical features of the regions investigated, such as shape, depth, angle of the abrasive stream, are presented. The analysis was carried out in two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) coordinate systems.

Opis:
The intensity of some pixels of the captured fringe will be saturated when fringe projection profilometry is used to measure objects with high reflectivity, which will significantly affect the reconstruction of the measured object. In this paper, we propose a fringe pattern inpainting method based on the convolutional neural network (CNN) denoiser prior guided by additional information from a fringe captured in short exposure time. First, a binary mask obtained by Otsu algorithm from the modulation information of the short exposure fringe is used to detect the high-saturation region in the normal exposure fringe. Then, the corrected gray-scales of the region of the short exposure fringe selected by the mask are inserted in the saturated region of the normal fringe to form an initial fringe for iteration. At last, fringe pattern inpainting is achieved by using a CNN denoiser prior. The correct phase can be reconstructed from the inpainted fringes. The computer simulation and experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Opis:
The aim of the present study was to check whether the research methods used in materials engineering could be useful for examining archeological ceramic pottery. The experiments were conducted with the use of stereoscopic microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and optical profilometry. The examined material included pieces of the archeological clay vessels excavated from various sites and dated at two various historical periods. The first group includes samples from the 5th century B.C. from Biehla (Germany) and Starosiedle (Poland), the second group consists of fragments of vessels of the 10th century A.D. from Starosiedle (Poland) and Rosenhof (Germany). The structure of the matrix and the mineral admixtures distributed throughout it were analyzed on the cross-sections of the archeological material. The examinations were performed using the fractographic method and optical profilometery, which permitted determine the shapes and morphology of the admixtures, examine their embedding in the matrix material (clay), and also revealing possible layers or delaminations within the matrix.
Głównym celem pracy przedstawionej w artykule było wykorzystanie metod badawczych stosowanych w inżynierii materiałowej do badania ceramiki archeologicznej. Do badań zastosowano mikroskopię stereoskopową, skaningową mikroskopię elektronową oraz profilometrię optyczną. Materiałem do badań były fragmenty glinianych naczyń archeologicznych pochodzęcych z róznych okresów historycznych i z różnych miejsc, odpowiednio: Biehla i Starosiedle - V w. p.n.e.; Starosiedle i Rosenhof - × w.

Opis:
An abnormal phase removing method in phase measuring profilometry is proposed. In the five equal shifting phase steps algorithm, the shifting phase might be extracted from the deformed patterns captured by CCD camera. But there may be some errors introduced by a digital fringe projector and CCD camera in these deformed patterns. The impurity of the deformed patterns may lead to four classes of abnormalities when extracting the shifting phase. These abnormalities may cause the wrong shifting phase extraction by which the reconstructed object might be misshapen or anamorphic, or even in failure. By this proposed method, the above abnormalities can be removed, and the shifting phase can be auto-extracted precisely from the impure deformed patterns without knowing its value. Experimental results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
