Opis:
The article analyses the poetry where verse and prose, two varieties of artistic language organization, cooperate closely. Modern poetry is open for experiments. For this reason many authors allow themselves to combine poetic and prosaic elements in one text. As a result, we get texts that carry a double emotional loading. Among such texts there are rhyme metrical prose, strophic prose, verse in prose, vers libre and pollymetric constructions that combine verse and prose.

In the last fifty years, many studies in Europe and America have addressed the problem of poetic prose and of prose poetry, in an attempt to enclose two very elusive literary categories, if possible, in an ultimate definition. Retracing the evolutionary lines of the debate on the issue, the article focuses on the analysis of two recent collections of Ewa Lipska’s poetry, classified by critics as “poetic prose”. While such a definition is useful for the collection Miłość, Droga Pani Schubert… (2013), it is less accurate for the volume Droga Pani Schubert… (2012). In the latter, the presence of frequent enjambments and the repeated ruptures with keywords in strong positions form an original rhythmic-semantic regularity and effectiveness typical of prose poetry.

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie zjawiska ukraińskiej prozy ornamentalnej. W tym celu przeanalizowane zostały wybrane opowiadania Mykoły Chwylowego z cyklu Сині етюди oraz Izaaka Babla Armia Konna (Конармия). Ornamentalizm ukraiński, niewątpliwie zainspirowany twórczością Borysa Pilniaka, różni się od rosyjskiego, co zostało ukazane w pracy. Różnice te świadczą o tym, że oba te zjawiska, choć miały wspólne korzenie, to jednak rozwijały się samodzielnie i dotyczyły problemów danego społeczeństwa.
The aim of the work is to present the phenomenon of the Ukrainian ornamental prose. For this purpose, were analyzed: Isaac Babel’s Red Cavalry (Конармия ) and Mykola Khvylovy’s selected stories from Blue Etudes (Сині етюди). Ukrainian ornamentalism, undoubtedly inspired by the works of Boris Pilnyiak, differs from Russian, what was shown in this work. These differences indicate that both these phenomena, although have common roots, developed separately and concerned society to which they belonged.

Opis:
In the 19th century, Hungarian and Slovak literature markedly specified and acquired contrasting features. The author states that in the Hungarian literature, especially in prose, Slovaks tend to represent folk types with the prevailing peasant archetype. Hungarians formed the upper class of the society until the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918 which also impacted the choice of literary protagonists and environments. The author of this study examines the image of Hungarians in Slovak prose the image of Slovaks in Hungarian prose. Consequently, he has created a typology of characters and environments in an attempt to apply imagology when comparing literary works of Hungarian and Slovak origin.

Opis:
The characteristic of the Serbian literature of the 90’s is an increasing interest in historical themes. Dramatic circumstances that led to the breakup of the Yugoslavia affected literature and resulted in critical evaluation of the last fifty years of Yugoslav history expressed in various forms of historical novel and autobiographic writing. Autobiographies and journals present the lot of Serb townspeople in the time of the Second World War and Communist Revolution. The fall of the Serbian bourgeois culture is connected with an unusual situation of cities and townspeople in Serbia, which was determined by long-term Turkish control over Serbian territories. Turks turned existing cities into headquarters of local Turkish authorities and garrisons stunting development of the native townspeople. In its short history, Serbian bourgeoisie did not manage to found stable basis and they remained a group devoided of their established tradition, which could have been able to oppose Communist ideology. Due to the ideology, the literary theme of bourgeoisie was marginalized. Communist model of culture that exploited elements of folklore determined the way of presenting cities and townspeople in literature. Autobiographical prose by Svetlana Velmar-Janković (Prozraci) and Dejan Medaković (Efemeris. Hronika jedne porodice) depicts living in occupied Belgrade and in the first years after liberation. Those two authors deal with the evaluation of the actions of Nazi-backed Serbian puppet government and its collaborators. Velmar-Janković and Medaković’s claim that collaborators such as prime minister Milan Nedić, Toma Maksimović and Vladimir Velmar-Janković made their choice in order to save as much Serbs as possible, especially those who escaped from the Independent State of Croatia. Additionally, the authors suggest that the communist government’s fight with collaborators turned into the fight with class enemy. The policy towards townspeople prevented founding an opposition to the communists. S. Velmar-Janković in her autobiography focuses on the lot of the collaborator’s family and presents only necessary historic facts. D. Medaković creates chronicle that presents a variety of the townspeople community.

Opis:
This article focuses on the relationship between Yanka Bryl and Poland, showing the influence of Polish classics on his literary legacy. Stories such as Orphan’s Bread by Yanka Bryl, Orphan’s Plight by Bolesław Prus and the novel Sisyphean Labours by Stefan Żeromski were subjected to comparative analysis. Prus concentrated on the fate of the orphan and his unequal struggle for a better tomorrow. Żeromski showed the image of the school in the Russian Congress Kingdom of Poland and the struggle of young people against Russification. J. Bryl, in his story, raised the topics of the orphanage and the struggle for linguistic, cultural and national identity.

Interpretative strategies are explored as a type of textual strategies alongside narrative and receptive ones. We illustrate modern, prose‑bound interpretative strategies targeting various types of perception and aesthetic delight. The interpretative strategies of modern Ukrainian and Polish prose are affected by the author's choice of the convention lines implemented in the story, and the types of perception the story is targeting. These parameters help implement the story's semantic structure, which determines the way it is interpreted by the reader. The reader's own life, emotional, and receptive experience builds a criterion for the story's maturity. The reader's interpretative effort is seen in the text as a game which is divided into separate milestones and requires a shift in the interpretative vector at each of them or implies the reader's ability to perceive the virtual worlds of the rhizomatic plot that maps a modern person's mental processes. The ability to notice in one text various interpretative strategies constitutes one of the ways for the reader to take aesthetic delight as well as building within them man‑world interaction skills, the ability to accept the world's uncertainty, someone else's different attitude.
