Opis:
Quality Control (QC) is an active process that detects defects in a product claimed to be ready for delivery, so it can be said that QC is the key to maintaining quality. Although quantitative quality control methods based on numbers and measurements provide tangible implications with more reliable results, qualitative measurements are also important for the quality control process. When manufacturers apply appropriate quantitative and qualitative quality control methods in their production processes, they can identify problems in products and produce appropriate solutions. In this research, quality control practices are examined and their effects on the sustainability of quality are investigated. In addition, the functioning of Quality Control methods is revealed, and the usage areas and forms of the methods are examined with examples. While evaluating the Quality and Quality Control methods, which are discussed in a wide range, other titles under the title of Quality are also included within the framework of this study. In today's conditions, the improvement of concepts such as time, less cost, and quality production that gains in value in the production process is directly related to the adequacy of quality control. The aim of this paper is to solve the quality problems in the production process of manufacturing organizations by investigating various technical quality control methods used to improve all these concepts. By eliminating the quality problems and minimizing the losses, the profitability level of the organization will be increased, along with this, the quality will be improved and become sustainable.

Opis:
The concept of quality is inextricably related to achieving assigned purposes by an organization in an effective and efficient manner1 . When it comes to high quality of audits, it is manifested primarily by conducting procedures according to standards recognized not only at the national, but also international level2 . Like any term, “quality” needs some explanation as well. The aim of the article is to outline the issues of quality assurance and control according to the current international standards (The INTOSAI Framework of Professional Pronouncements, IFPP). The analysis of the documents indicates imprecision and inconsistency of the existing approach with regard to the separated parts of the above-mentioned system. The following sections of the article refer to the understanding of the issues of quality assurance and control in individual principles, standards and guidelines of INTOSAI in order to finally formulate the concept of the chain quality that can be concluded from these documents.

Quality control in diagnostic radiology according to national regulations
Opis:
The aim of the paper is to review the main aspects of quality control of radiological devices according to the current national regulations. Explanation of the physical principles of image formation by different test phantoms used to measure focal spot sizes is presented in appendix. The obligation for quality assurance (QA) for all X-ray systems which follows European standards was enforced in updated "Atomic Law Act" of 29 November 2000 . This document is the main regulatory act which establishes the basic safety standards for radiation protection in Poland. The main modifications introduced by this new Act concerned the issue of radiation protection of individuals undergoing medical examinations with the use of ionizing radiation which is regulated by EC Directive 97/43 Euratom. According to this Directive quality assurance programmes, including quality control measures need to be implemented by the holder of the radiological installation. Therefore, in the above Act the Minister of Health has been obligated to impose specific regulations describing the way of implementation of general principles laid down in the Directive. Some of these regulations, like those concerning QC tests and tolerances, have already been mentioned in the document titled "On the conditions for safe application of ionizing radiation in medicine". For example, the QC program in radiography is being considered; the obligatory tests- acceptance, routine and annual- are disscused and specific procedures are being indicated. The main idea of the document "On the conditions for safe application of ionizing radiation in medicine" which concerns radiation protection of patients and staff against ionizing radiation used in medicine is to implement the surveillance of all X-ray systems in form of acceptance tests followed by internal tests (routine and annual) performed in accordance with European standards.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of the two methods of statistical quality control of products. That two methods differ from each other mainly by a way of determining a subset of products subjected to inspection. The first of the two methods, hereinafter referred to as the completely random method, is to draw a certain number of products for control of the entire products population. The second method, called the method of drawing from partitions, is a pre-split across the specific products population into smaller parts, called partitions, and then create a representation (sample) of the products subject to control by drawing the products from each partition. The main result of this study is to determine the conditions for which the effectiveness of quality control methods with drawing from partitions is not less than the efficiency of the method with fully random drawing, whereby the efficiency criterion is the likelihood of the event, consisting in the fact that there is at least one incorrect product among the drawn products. The considerations were illustrated by numerical examples, designed to compare the effectiveness of the analyzed methods of quality control.

Opis:
BACKGROUND: Different methods of image quality evaluation are routinely used for analogue and digital mammography systems in Poland. In the present study, image quality for several screen-film (SF), computed radiography (CR), and fully digital (DR) mammography systems was compared directly with the use of the ACR mammography accreditation phantom. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Image quality and mean glandular doses were measured and compared for 47 mammography systems in the Mazovia Voivodeship in Poland, including 26 SF systems, 12 CR systems, and 9 DR systems. The mean glandular dose for the breast simulated by 4.5 cm of PMMA was calculated with methods described in the "European guidelines for quality assurance in breast cancer screening and diagnosis". Visibility of the structures in the image (fibers, microcalcifications, and masses) was evaluated with the mammographic accreditation ACR phantom. RESULTS: Image quality for DR systems was significantly higher than for SF and CR systems. Several SF systems failed to pass the image quality tests because of artifacts. The doses were within acceptable limits for all of the systems, but the doses for the CR systems were significantly higher than for the SF and DR systems. CONCLUSIONS: The best image quality, at a reasonably low dose, was observed for the DR systems. The CR systems are capable of obtaining the same image quality as the SF systems, but only at a significantly higher dose. The ACR phantom can be routinely used to evaluate image quality for all types of mammographic systems.

Opis:
Background: Regular quality control is required in Poland only for those methods of medical imaging which involve the use of ionizing radiation but not for ultrasonography. It is known that the quality of ultrasound images may be affected by the wearing down or malfunctioning of equipment. Material/Methods: An evaluation of image quality was carried out for 22 ultrasound scanners equipped with 46 transducers. The CIRS Phantom model 040GSE was used. A set of tests was established which could be carried out with the phantom, including: depth of penetration, dead zone, distance measurement accuracy, resolution, uniformity, and visibility of structures. Results: While the dead zone was 0 mm for 89% of transducers, it was 3 mm for the oldest transducer. The distances measured agreed with the actual distances by 1 mm or less in most cases, with the largest difference of 2.6 mm. The resolution in the axial direction for linear transducers did not exceed 1 mm, but it reached even 5 mm for some of the convex and sector transducers, especially at higher depths and in the lateral direction. For 29% of transducers, some distortions of anechoic structures were observed. Artifacts were detected for several transducers. Conclusions: The results will serve as a baseline for future testing. Several cases of suboptimal image quality were identified along with differences in performance between similar transducers. The results could be used to decide on the applicability of a given scanner or transducer for a particular kind of examination.

Opis:
The aim of a quality assurance program is to assist a radio-diagnostic facility in consistently obtaining adequate radiological information with a minimum of dose and a minimum of cost. An integrated part of a quality assurance program is quality control ascertaining quality by measurements and other procedures. When procuring equipment, a specification is worked out taking into account all aspects of the performance of the equipment including the desired tolerances of technique factors. In this study the seven tests (beam alignment, beam collimation, reproducibility, accuracy of kv, time accuracy, half value layer (HVL) and leakage) were carried out for the newly installed General X-Ray machine at Nuclear Malaysia and were in the acceptable limits. Such a test will be the responsibility of a qualified physicist or engineer. The status test is carried out in order to establish the functional status of the equipment. The test is performed immediately after the acceptance test or as an integrated part of it. The test will be repeated when repair influencing the functional status has taken place like the acceptance test; the status test will comprise absolute measurements and will likewise be the responsibility of a qualified physicist or engineer.
