Opis:: This survey research aimed to determine the status of and compliance to and adherence to the quality standards system by the maritime schools in the Philippines. Frequency, mean and standard deviations were the descriptive statistics used and t-test, analysis of variance, stepwise multiple regression analysis and Pearson’s r were the inferential statistics used. The participants’ perceived the status of the quality standards system among maritime schools as ‘strong’. The participants’ perceived the compliance with and adherence to the quality standards system among the maritime schools as “very high”. Location of school, enrolment size, faculty size, size of support staff, accreditation, position in school, work experience and educational preparation are significant predictors of the status, compliance with and adherence to the quality standards system in maritime schools. No significant relationships existed between the participants’ perception of the compliance and adherence to quality standards system among maritime schools and personal-related factors.

Opis:: The Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) Regulations of Kenya adapt The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention) and the Standard Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW Code) for Seafarers. The STCW Convention and Code defines the quality standards at a minimum requirement as the harmonized threshold for contracting parties, which includes Kenya. Educational Institutions in Kenya primarily uses Quality Management Systems in application of quality to education and training. This is however contrary to the requirements of the STCW Convention and Code for institutions engaged in Maritime Education and Training. The paper focusses in assessing the extent of non-compliance, the circumstantial challenges and thereafter proposes a framework to address challenges in implementing Quality Standard Systems.

(MPWiK). W pierwszym rozdziale omówiono tematykę jakości oraz zintegrowanego systemu zarządzania. Przedstawiono różne interpretacje pojęcia jakości jakie pojawiały się na przestrzeni lat, a następnie szeroko omówiono normy z rodziny ISO: ISO9001, ISO14001 i ISO18001, które stosowane wspólnie tworzą zintegrowany system zarządzania organizacją. Zaprezentowano również cel, sposoby, zakres i problemy integracji systemów zarządzania oraz wymieniono zalety wykorzystania takiego zintegrowanego rozwiązania. Drugi rozdział prezentuje wybraną firmę – jej strukturę organizacyjną, działalność, dokonania. W rozdziale trzecim przedstawiono, w jaki sposób Spółka realizuje wymagania wymienionych norm wykonując swoją działalność, opisano strukturę zintegrowanego systemu zarządzania oraz działania Spółki podejmowane w zakresie ochrony środowiska i BHP. W rozdziale czwartym dokonano oceny funkcjonowania wdrożonych systemów w oparciu o badania ankietowe. Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły na ocenę funkcjonowania poszczególnych obszarów zarządzania, wskazanie obszarów wymagających działań doskonalących oraz wyróżnienie tych, które funkcjonują dobrze. Zaproponowano działania doskonalące. Przeprowadzono ocenę dojrzałości poszczególnych elementów Spółki.
The purpose of this thesis is to assess the functioning of the integrated quality management system based on the example from Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji in Lublin Sp. z o.o. (MPWiK). In the first chapter the topic of quality and integrated management system were described. There were presented different quality concepts which appeared in the span of multiple years. Then, there were widely described the ISO Standards: ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO18001, which applied all together, form an integrated management system. There were also presented the purpose, ways, range and problems with integration of management systems. There were indicated the benefits of using such an integrated solution. The second chapter presents the chosen company, its organizational structure, functioning and accomplishments. In the third chapter it was presented how the company realizes the requirements of the ISO series mentioned earlier while performing its activities. Also, the structure of the integrated management system was described, as well as the company activities taken up, concerning environmental protection and industrial safety. In the fourth chapter there was carried out an assessment of functioning of the implemented systems based on a conducted survey. The acquired results allowed for an assessment of functioning of particular operation management areas, indication of areas which need improving activities and pointing out the correct ones which function properly. There were suggested improving activities.

Opis:: The concept of quality is inextricably related to achieving assigned purposes by an organization in an effective and efficient manner1 . When it comes to high quality of audits, it is manifested primarily by conducting procedures according to standards recognized not only at the national, but also international level2 . Like any term, “quality” needs some explanation as well. The aim of the article is to outline the issues of quality assurance and control according to the current international standards (The INTOSAI Framework of Professional Pronouncements, IFPP). The analysis of the documents indicates imprecision and inconsistency of the existing approach with regard to the separated parts of the above-mentioned system. The following sections of the article refer to the understanding of the issues of quality assurance and control in individual principles, standards and guidelines of INTOSAI in order to finally formulate the concept of the chain quality that can be concluded from these documents.

Głównym celem artykułu jest zidentyfikowanie popularności certyfikowanego systemu zarządzania jakością ISO 9001 w przedsiębiorstwach. W części pierwszej - teoretycznej, autor podejmuje próbę zdefiniowania systemu zarządzania jakością oraz oceny jego wpływu na zarządzanie jednostką. Druga część przedstawia najważniejsze zagadnienia dotyczące normy ISO 9001 - rys historyczny oraz profity wynikające z jej stosowania. Część trzecia - empiryczna, prezentuje dane ilościowe dotyczące implementacji systemu zarządzania jakością ISO 9001 w Polsce i na świecie. W pracy przeprowadzono analizę piśmiennictwa naukowego z zakresu zarządzania jakością, ekonomii oraz zastosowano metody indukcji i dedukcji. Opis:: Rapid technological advances and variable conditions in the environment cause that properly functioning and improved quality management systems (QMS) in enterprises determine the competitive advantage under conditions of market economy. Currently most of the enterprises which created their own quality management systems follow the principles contained in the international standards. The most popular model of QMS is presented in the ISO 9000 family of standards. Based on the requirements contained in these standards, the system implemented was verified through getting the relevant certification, which is often the requirement of customers. The modern and comprehensive QMS represents an inseparable wholeness with the management system in an organization. Proper functioning of QMS, performance of tasks and reaching the goals is possible through continuous improvement that concerns all the areas of activity in the organization. Opis:: A comprehensive review of the extant literature on ISO Management System (IMS) standards certified companies conceded into major business performance improvement factors and elements. The worldwide activities of ISO Development of International Standards Total as of the end of December 2023 are 25111 International Standards and standards-type documents. ISO population data files for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021) show the standards used for certification in Pakistan besides world ISO population data. In 2023, a total of 1,465 International Standards and standards-type documents were published. Due to space limitations in the research paper, only one data file is attached to this paper. The most popular and populous standard among all is the ISO 9000 Quality Management System (QMS) standards adopted in Pakistan. The identified factors and elements /items were reviewed and converted into criteria set and framework. The analysis of this secondary experiential data shows that IMS standards certification improves the businesses’ performance. A survey questionnaire was designed on these business performance improvement factors and elements and pilot-tested to establish its ‘Reliability and Validity’. This questionnaire was used to collect national primary empirical data from both IMS standards-certified and non-certified businesses in all chambers of commerce and industry in Pakistan, including women’s chambers. The analysis of this national primary empirical data also shows an impact of IMS standards certification on businesses’ performance. Hence, it supports the results of secondary ISO experiential data analysis. Also, in comparative performance analysis, the IMS standards certified businesses outperformed the non-certified businesses. The IMS standards certification contributes to the prosperity, sustainability, technical, managerial, financial, Operational, communication, social, and environmental improvement, etc. of the businesses, thus increasing the national GDP. This improvement trend ultimately helps in attaining SDG goals set by the UN for all nations.
