Opis:
The essence of radical movements is always an idea, for which people are willing to die. In the context of political emancipation religion might be such an idea. The connection between religion and radical movements is usually based on dialectics with the official interpretation of dogmas. Revolutionists claim that the official dogmatic theology is a “heresy” and they offer the true confession of faith instead. This article analyses the way religion serves as the basis for revolutionary movements, how it is engaged in a specific interpretation of the world. The analysis is grounded on three examples: the Czech Hussites, a conspiracy led by Father Piotr Ściegienny as well as religion in the Zapatista Movement. The aim of this paper is to present the way in which religion becomes the basis for a radical worldview.

Opis:
This article entirely concerns the philosophical determinants of political change in the European Union with a systemic character. In it, the author decided to scientifi cally identify and analyze selected concepts and sequences of thought in the field of political philosophy – mainly of neoidealistic character – helpful in explaining and understanding the processes of deconstructing political thought relating to European integration. It was important for the author to create an ideal conceptual framework for preparing empirical anti-crisis strategies, forecasts and scenarios of changes in the European Union. This scheme is particularly important in the context of the Kantian methodological architecture of pure reason. The basis here is the process of cognitive cognition from the arranged concepts – forming one compact analytical system. It is worth noting that the process of distinguishing determinants (concepts) related to the political philosophy of the European Union must take place while maintaining methodological mindfulness – both qualitative and quantitative. In view of the above, the next analytical assumption for this text is based on the author’s conviction that the change having the character of transformation (regulation and transformation) should be made mainly under the influence of philosophical theories, ideas and visions, and not the ever-changing and reactive political actions of the actors / entities participating in the European integration process.

Opis:
A notion of weak invertibility in a unital associative algebra A and a corresponding notion of strong spectrum of an element of A is defined. It is shown that many relationships between the Jacobson radical, the group of invertibles and the spectrum have analogues relating the strong radical, the set of weakly invertible elements and the strong spectrum. The nonunital case is also discussed. A characterization is given of all (submultiplicative) norms on A in which every modular maximal ideal M ⊆ A is closed.

Ocena przebiegu procesów oksydacyjnych w modelowym systemie generowania rodników

Reactive oxygen species are created during normal metabolism. They serve a lot of meaningful physiological functions. Disturbances of the oxidation-reduction homeostasis, then the oxidation processes are preponderated, are known as an oxidative stress. The oxidative stress is involved in the pathogenesis of many diseases, such as diseases of the cardiovascular system, cancers and neurodegenerative disorders. Endogenous and exogenous antioxidants prevent damages induced by the reactive oxygen species.In this work, methods for generating free radicals in vitro (method of generation of superoxide anion in the PMS-NADH system, generating method of hydroxyl radical in the reaction system based on the iron chloride (III) and the method of the generation of peroxyl radical by thermodecomposition of AAPH) were determined. They were used to evaluate the antioxidant potential of selected model compounds (Trolox, vitamin C, lipoic acid, naringin and naringenin).It has been shown that ascorbic acid has a prooxidative action or poor antioxidative action against superoxide anion. This compound is characterized by very high ability to scavenge hydroxyl radical, which increases in proportion with respect to the concentrations tested. The results showed that vitamin C also causes removal of peroxyl radical. The higher the concentration of ascorbic acid, the greater the ability to scavenge ROO• in the test method in vitro. A strong antioxidant property of Trolox against superoxide anion, peroxyl radical and hydroxyl radical were observed. The method used lipoic acid has a low ability to eliminate superoxide anion, but strongly removes a hydroxyl radical and peroxyl radical. The developed methods confirmed antioxidant activity of test compounds flavonoid: naringin and naringenin. Both compounds have a similar ability to remove superoxide anion. In the case of the hydroxyl radical was observed potent antioxidant properties for naringenin. It has been demonstrated inverse relationship between concentration of naringin and naringenin and the ability to scavenge the peroxyl radical.Established methods for generating free radicals in vitro allow to perform easy and rapid assessment of oxidative properties of a wide variety of compounds to search their mechanisms of action.
Reaktywne formy tlenu powstają w czasie prawidłowych przemian metabolicznych i pełnią wiele istotnych funkcji fizjologicznych. Zaburzenie homeostazy oksydacyjno - redukcyjnej na rzecz procesów utleniania określa się mianem stresu oksydacyjnego. Stres oksydacyjny bierze udział w patogenezie licznych chorób, w tym schorzeń układu sercowo-naczyniowego, chorób nowotworowych oraz neurodegeneracyjnych. Uszkodzeniom wywołanym przez reaktywne formy tlenu zapobiegają zarówno endogenne jak i egzogenne przeciwutleniacze.W pracy ustalono metody generowania wolnych rodników in vitro (metodę generowania anionorodnika ponadtlenkowego w systemie PMS-NADH, metodę generowania rodnika hydroksylowego w systemie opartym na reakcji chlorku żelaza (III) i metodę generowania rodnika nadtlenkowego w wyniku rozkładu termicznego AAPH) oraz zastosowano je do oceny potencjału antyoksydacyjnego wybranych wzorcowych związków (Troloxu, witaminy C, kwasu liponowego, naringiny i naringeniny).Wykazano, iż kwas askorbinowy posiada działanie prooksydacyjne lub słabe antyoksydacyjne wobec anionorodnika ponadtlenkowego. Związek ten charakteryzuje się bardzo dużą zdolnością zmiatania rodnika hydroksylowego, która wzrasta proporcjonalnie w stosunku do badanych stężeń. Otrzymane wyniki wskazują, że witamina C powoduje także usuwanie rodnika nadtlenkowego. Im wyższe stężenie kwasu askorbinowego, tym większa zdolność zmiatania ROO• w badanej metodzie in vitro. Zaobserwowano silne właściwości przeciwutleniające Troloxu względem anionorodnika ponadtlenkowego, rodnika nadtlenkowego oraz rodnika hydroksylowego. W zastosowanej metodzie kwas liponowy wykazuje małą zdolność eliminacji anionorodnika ponadtlenkowego, natomiast silnie zmiata rodnik hydroksylowy i rodnik nadtlenkowy. W opracowanych metodach potwierdzono działanie antyoksydacyjne testowych związków flawonoidowych: naringiny i naringeniny. Obydwa związki posiadają podobną zdolność usuwania anionorodnika ponadtlenkowego. W przypadku rodnika hydroksylowego silniejsze właściwości przeciwutleniające odnotowano dla naringeniny. Wykazano odwrotnie proporcjonalną zależność pomiędzy stężeniem naringiny i naringeniny , a zdolnością do zmiatania rodnika nadtlenkowego.Opracowane metody generowania wolnych rodników in vitro pozwalają na łatwą i szybką ocenę właściwości oksydacyjnych szeregu różnych związków w celu poszukiwania mechanizmów ich działania.

"The King's Indian," the novella written by John Gardner, illustrates the structural and semantic complexity of much contemporary fiction resulting from radical intertextuality. Its rich intertextual sphere is the result of its extensive dialogic interplay with other literary works. One of the text's internal markers of significance is the “sentient trees subtext." A subtext is a signifying system in a narrative, which serves as a "hermeneutic signpost," pointing to the semantic organization of the text. The "sentient trees subtext" dispersed through the novella bears out Riffaterre's thesis that from the point of view of the logic of the narrative, a subtext is rather unimportant; it plays virtually no role in developing the plot. This freedom enables then the "sentient trees subtext" to assume the role of a "hermeneutic signpost," guiding the interpreter through the semantic maze of "The King's Indian," clarifying the resolution of the central motif of the quest, and finally bringing together its two compositional planes: the fictional world of Jonathan's tale, and the fictional reality of the narrative frame.

The article is an interpretation of the traditional figure of the hermeneutic circle made from the perspective of John D. Caputo’s radical hermeneutics. It begins with a recapitulation of the most important modern positions on the hermeneutic circle, which postmodern hermeneutics radicalizes, noting the impossibility of its closure or fulfillment. Movement in the postmodern hermeneutic circle takes place not between the parts and the whole, but only between the different parts. Thus, one might say that this circle is twisted, and this has a dual meaning. It evokes Jacques Derrida’s interpretation of a phrase from Hamlet, “time is out of joint”, but it also plays with the meaning of the twist, which can be understood as a Verwindung: the impossibility of the transgression beyond modern hermeneutics.

Globalization is often treated as a catch-all category, which is a universal frame of reference in the discourse of the humanities, social studies, but also economic, political, and many other fields. Depending on the perspective, some evaluate it very positively, recognizing the benefits; others, on the contrary, point out the threats, and undesirable side effects. Meanwhile, in the reflection on religions, globalization launches a range of fears and concerns (more or less openly articulated). The unquestionable ally of this phenomenon is the modern media, whose tabloid nature is more emotional than rational. Religious conflicts are often overexposed, which, in turn, accelerates tension and social phobias. Both the mainstream media and the propaganda of the Islamic State are trying to imitate the rhetoric known from the movies at the cinema. As a result, by such pop-culture cliches the Western world interprets the influx of Syrian refugees as a cultural invasion (or a religious crusade). This creates a situation of a widespread infection of fear, which triggers the cultural immune responses: rationalizations, denial, conspiracy theories, humour and aggression. Visual artists propose quite a different repertoire of resistance tactics.
