Opis:: The paper presents a method for estimating reliability characteristics dedicated for two important kinds of systems, i.e. homogeneous systems and heterogeneous systems. We propose an algorithm for evaluating these characteristics on the basis of observations. The paper gives examples of applications of the method for evaluating the reliability of a distributed system.

Opis:: Probabilistic model of a system composed of a main component, an emergency backup component and the automatic switch are discussed in this paper. The reliability model is semi-Markov process describing evolution of the system. Conditional time to failure of the system is represented by a random variable denoting the first passage time of the process from the given state to the subset of states. The appropriate theorems of the Semi-Markov processes theory allow us to evaluate the reliability function and some reliability characteristics. To calculate the reliability function and mean time to failure of the system we apply theorems of the Semi-Markov processes theory concerning the conditional reliability functions.

Opis:: The characteristics of semi-Markov process we can translate on the reliability characteristics in the semi-Markov reliability model. The cumulative distribution functions of the first passage time from the given states to subset of states, expected values and second moments corresponding to them which are considered in this paper allow to define reliability function of the system. The equations for many reliability characteristics and parameters are here presented.

Opis:: There is presented the application of the integrated software tools to the reliability of the improved exemplary complex technical system prediction. There are considered three ways of the exemplary system reliability improvement, i.e. a hot single reservation of its components, a cold single reservation of its components and replacing its components by the improved components with reduced intensities of departure from the reliability state subsets. Automatically obtained, using the computer program CP 8.16, the evaluations of these ways improved exemplary system unconditional multistate reliability function, the expected values and the standard deviations of its unconditional lifetimes in the reliability state subsets and the mean values of its lifetimes in the particular reliability states are presented. Moreover, in the case when the improved system is repairable, its renewal and availability characteristics are estimated using the computer program CP 8.8 with appropriately given data.

Opis:: In the paper the results of the reliability investigation of multi-state homogeneous parallel-series systems with independent and dependent components are presented. The multi-state reliability functions of such systems and other reliability characteristics in both cases are determined under the assumption that their components have exponential reliability function. Moreover the asymptotic approach to the reliability evaluation of these systems is also presented and the classes of limit reliability functions for the considered systems in both cases are fixed. Finally, the presented theoretical results are applied to the reliability evaluation of the shipyard rope transportation system. The comparison of the multi-state exact and limit reliability functions of the considered transportation system under the assumption that its components are independent and under the assumption that its components have failure dependency is performed and illustrated graphically.

Opis:: In the process of using a complex technical object, it is deregulated, worn and its reliability is decreased. Therefore, it is required that its status, technical state and reliability should be observed during its normal use and handling. The results of such observations allow a synthetic (complex) assessment of suitability of the object, determining its ability to properly carry out its tasks in accordance with its intended purpose. A continuous observation of changes of technical condition on the basis of relationship between the diagnostic signals (output) and the input signals (environment) allow evaluation of the regulation state of the object [4, 5]. An innovative method of assessment of the operated system usability presented in the article concerns an adequate analysis of the changes to aRb technical condition and aRc, regulation state current parameters formed from coupled equations of state (1 and 2) [1, 2, 3, 7]. While analysing the waveforms of instantaneous values of aRb technical condition and aRc regulation state parameters, it has been observed that parameter and instantaneous damage can be identified on the basis of quantitative relationships between the instantaneous threshold value of dpr and the corresponding instantaneous value of dpr dop, which are calculated from the following formulas (7, 8, 9). It is assumed that damage exists if for the instant theta i . dpri greather than d prdop i . Having the quantity of damage, reliability characteristics can be determined for every time of technical object exploitation (prior to the occurrence of catastrophic damage) [6].

The computer program CP 8.5 is used to determine the unconditional mean sojourn times and the limit transient probabilities of the exemplary system operation process at the particular operation states evaluations. Using the computer program CP 8.6 there are performed the evaluations of the exemplary system unconditional multistate reliability function, the expected values and the standard deviations of its unconditional lifetimes in the reliability state subsets and the mean values of its lifetimes in the particular reliability states. Finally, in the case when the system is repairable, its renewal and availability characteristics are estimated from the results of computer program CP 8.8.

Opis:: There is presented the application of the integrated software tools to the operation and reliability of an exemplary complex technical system optimization. First using the computer program CP 8.9 there are determined the optimal limit transient probabilities of the exemplary system operation process at the particular operation states maximizing the system lifetime in the reliability states not worse than the critical reliability state and its optimal sojourn times at the particular operation states. Program CP 8.9 allows also for automatic evaluation of the exemplary system optimal unconditional multistate reliability function, the optimal expected values and standard deviations of its unconditional lifetimes in the reliability state subsets and the optimal mean values of its lifetimes in the particular reliability states. Moreover, in the case when the system is repairable, its optimal renewal and availability characteristics are obtained using the computer program CP 8.11.

Opis:: This paper deals with a technique for estimating the error of a measurement system by taking into account the performance reliability of individual measuring instruments (MI) – measurement channel components. In the measurement system, the metrological characteristics of these components (e.g. sensors) vary in time, and sometimes they are defective. It introduces the error into the entire system. Determination of this error has been based on the information theory and statistical methods for estimating the variances of MI and temperature measurements.
W artykule przedstawiono metody oceny błędu kanałów pomiarowych z uwzględnieniem niezawodności i błędów wprowadzanych przez poszczególne urządzenia pomiarowe – elementy kanałów pomiarowych. Do określenia tego błędu zastosowano teorię informacji i wybrane metody statystyczne do szacowania wariancji sygnałów pomiarowych wytwarzanych przez urządzenia pomiarowe. Praca dotyczy głównie systemów do pomiaru temperatury. W kanałach do pomiaru temperatury powstają problemy wynikające głównie z zawodności poszczególnych elementów wyposażenia pomiarowego – elementów kanałów pomiarowych. Można do nich zaliczyć na przykład elementy termoelektryczne i inne sensory, które mogą zmieniać swoje właściwości metrologiczne w czasie eksploatacji. Zmiany właściwości metrologicznych prowadzą do powstania błędów pomiarowych. Istnieje więc potrzeba oceny parametrów metrologicznych i niezawodności systemu pomiarowego, która uwzględnienia zmiany właściwości metrologicznych poszczególnych urządzeń. Do oceny związku między niezawodnością urządzeń pomiarowych i rozrzutem wyników pomiaru temperatury zaproponowano wykorzystanie wartości rozrzutu sygnałów pomiarowych, w tym temperatury za pomocą odchylenia standardowego wartości wyników pomiaru. Na podstawie odchylenia standardowego wyników pomiarowych, możliwe jest wyznaczenie błędu ekwiwalentnego całego toru pomiarowego. Jako przykład, w pracy przedstawiono obliczenia dla toru pomiarowego temperatury, w którym poszczególne elementy systemu zostały uszkodzone określoną liczbę razy w ciągu określonego czasu pracy systemu.

This paper summarizes issues relating to durability and forecasting of repairs to buildings and structures. A classification of repair actions is made, and the effectiveness and durability of repairs are evaluated. Passive and active repairs are discussed, and criteria are laid down for the proper selection of materials for repair work. Examples of active repairs are given, and relevant final conclusions are drawn.
