Opis:: Emotions, Commitment and Effectiveness of the Government’ s Remembrance Policy. Results of an Experimental Study The paper presents results of the experimental study on the role of commitment and emotions in an influence of remembrance narratives. It offers brief theoretical introduction to the government’ s remembrance policy and its main features and then it compares these hypotheses with experimental observations. The study shows how manipulations of commitment and emotions influence memorization of information, change of attitudes towards the remembrance and behavior in real-life. Moreover, the paper discusses results of participant’ s self-assessment after an exposition to a narrative and their evaluation of its contents. As the result, theoretical considerations and research results enabled authors to present final conclusions and to state five new theoretical hypotheses on the impact of commitment and emotions on the effectiveness of remembrance story-telling.

Opis:: The topic of the article are the complex stages of the formation of the Bon Pastor neighbourhood in Barcelona, and contemporary efforts to create the remembrance space system that would preserve the social memory and historical identity of the place. The author presents how the urban development plans for the district were transformed as a result of major changes in national politics, economy, and social policy, since the 1930s, through 60s and 70s, till today. The article describes the Bon Pastor Civic Memory project as an interesting example of a participatory action aimed at the preservation of local heritage. The implementation of the Civic Memory project was possible due to the neighbours’ initiative and their cooperation with cultural and academic institutions. The aim of this project is to mark certain points of the territory which possess historically and socially significant value, and to enhance them through public art, urban design and other implementations envisaged. The Association of residents of Bon Pastor (Barcelona) has been characterized, since 1974, for its combative and vindictive nature, at the same time as for its great capacity to launch solidarity initiatives and manage complicated processes to improve the living conditions of residents of the neighbourhood. After the struggles to obtain a health centre, the improvement of communications by metro and bus, and the constant improvement of public space, in recent years, the Association is co-managing with the Barcelona City Council, the radical transformation of the neighbourhood. The different phases for the remodelling of the neighbourhood, by replacing the so-called “cheap houses” with new buildings, with more spacious apartments and with better material conditions, is coming to an end and now, the possibility opens up, driven by the neighbours and the Museum of the History of the City (MUHBA) to have a metropolitan museographic space devoted to the presentation and study of the evolution of workers’ and popular housing in Barcelona.

Opis:: Dr. Zita Virginija Šimėnaitė (1950–2016)Dr. Zita Šimėnaitė passed away on the 1st of August, 2016. She was a researcher who made a great contribution to the still developing field of Lithuanian lexicography. Between 2005 and 2014, she conducted work of the Lexicographical Centre in the Institute of the Lithuanian Language in Vilnius. Her academic and intellectual life was devoted to her two great passions: collaborating with other linguists in creation of new scientific dictionaries of the Lithuanian language, and artistic photography. She made a valuable contribution to the great dictionary of the Lithuanian language (Lietuvių kalbos žodynas; LKŽ) via enriching files, editing and developing numerous entries, as well as preparing an electronic version of the dictionary (www.lkz.lt). She co-authored the phraseological dictionary of the Lithuanian language (2002) and the dictionary for learners of the Lithuanian language (2000, second edition 2010). She conducted many projects in the field of monolingual and translational lexicography. She also popularized ideas and work of Lithuanian lexicographers during symposia and conferences in her home country and abroad. She actively participated in the scientific exchange and cooperation between the Institute of the Lithuanian Language and the Institute of Slavic Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. Dr Zita Virginija Šimėnaitė (1950–2016)Dnia 1 sierpnia 2016 r. zmarła dr Zita Šimėnaitė, badaczka mająca wielkie zasługi dla pomnażania dorobku leksykografii litewskiej. Od 2005 do 2014 r. kierowała pracami Centrum Leksykograficznego Instytutu Języka Litewskiego w Wilnie. Swoje życie poświęciła realizacji dwóch wielkich pasji: tworzeniu we współpracy z innymi lingwistami naukowych słowników języka litewskiego oraz fotografii artystycznej. Wniosła cenny wkład w uzupełnianie kartoteki, opracowanie licznych haseł i redagowanie wielkiego słownika języka litewskiego (Lietuvių kalbos žodynas; LKŽ) oraz przygotowanie jego wersji elektronicznej (www.lkz.lt). Współtworzyła słownik frazeologiczny języka litewskiego (2002) oraz słownik do nauki języka litewskiego (2000, drugie wydanie 2010). Zrealizowała wiele projektów z zakresu leksykografii jednojęzycznej i przekładowej; przybliżała koncepcje i dzieła litewskich leksykografów na sympozjach w kraju i za granicą, uczestniczyła w wymianie naukowej między Instytutem Języka Litewskiego a Instytutem Slawistyki PAN.

Opis:: The author of the draft position claims that the rules in question – regarding the phrases “Ukrainian nationalists” and “Eastern Małopolska” conform to the Constitution. Article 55a para. 1, which set outs sanctions of fine or imprisonment for up to 3 years, imposed to anyone who attributing, publicly and contrary to facts, the responsibility or coresponsibility to the Polish Nation or to the Polish State for Nazi crimes committed by the Third German Reich or for other offenses constituting crimes against peace, humanity or war crimes, or in a different way grossly reduces the responsibility of the actual perpetrators of these crimes, conforms to the the Constitution. Moreover, the above-mentioned sanctions do not violate the principle of proportionality.

Opis:: According to the author of the opinion the request contained in the petition should be considered justified, and the bill submitted along with the petition, despite minor deficiencies, may be a starting point for a legislative work. The current provisions do not ensure a proper protection of burial places of the National Heroes, because they enable the cemetery manager to rearrange the grave after 20 years from the burial, if unless anyone objects to it and pays the burial fee.

Opis:: In this paper, the author presents a brief description of the place and role Poland’s in the memoires of the former German chancellor Helmut Kohl. Although, at the first view, it can be assumed that Poland and the Polish politicians don’t appear too often in Kohl’s report, it could be shown after a closer analysis that Kohl refers many times to both of them. Poland aroused a special interest, but also irritation, of the chancellor around 1990 as Germany was re-united and the negotiations regarding the common border between Poland and Germany were carried out, which is depicted in this paper

Opis:: The aim of this presentation is to demonstrate issues concerning places of remembrance, paying special attention to the elements which create meaning and structure collective experience. The analysis will be conducted not only on the level of architectural materials but the current knowledge about psychology of perception (narrative perception) will also be included.
