Opis:
Background: Security has become more of a concern with the wide deployment of Internet-of-things (IoT) devices. The importance of addressing security risks early in the development lifecycle before pushing to market cannot be over emphasized. Aim: To this end, we propose a conceptual framework to help with identifying security concerns early in the product development lifecycle for Internet-of-things, that we refer to as SIoT (Security for Internet-of-Things). Method: The framework adopts well known security engineering approaches and best practices, and systematically builds on existing research work on IoT architecture. Results: Practitioners at a Norwegian start-up company evaluated the framework and found it useful as a foundation for addressing critical security concerns for IoT applications early in the development lifecycle. The output from using the framework can be a checklist that can be used as input during security requirements engineering activities for IoT applications. Conclusions: However, security is a multi-faced concept; therefore, users of the SIoT framework should not view the framework as a panacea to all security threats. The framework may need to be refined in the future, particularly to improve its completeness to cover various IoT contexts.

Postulat referencji w perspektywie pytania o naturę dyskursu metafizycznego
Requirement of reference and the problem of the nature of metaphysical discourse
Autorzy:
Kołodziejczyk, Sebastian
Opis:
The crisis of metaphysics has many roots. One of them is recognized to be a kind of semantic failure. It lies in the fact that the meaning and reference of metaphysical propositions as well as metaphysical terms seems to be problematic. This diagnosis was first established by I. Kant and then repeated by some of the XXth century philosophers. In this paper I will show what role is played by what I called the Requirement of Reference (RR) in the analysis of the metaphysical discourse. I will argue that the RR draws the limitations for the conceptual and propositional schemata of metaphysics and, at the same time, prevents metaphysics from making de re assertions and utterances. I shall also examine in this light some of Ludwig Wittgenstein's theses from Tractatus and Philosophical Investigations in order to argue that two sorts of metaphysical considerations are possible despite of the above-mentioned criticism. One of them is the analysis of what might be shown but cannot be expressed in language. The other is the deep analysis of the conceptual schemata that constitute the foundations of human thought.

Opis:
In order to survive periods of adverse cold climatic conditions, plant requirements are satisfi ed by means of physiological adaptations to prevent cells from freezing. Thus, the growth of woody plants in temperate regions slows down and they enter into a physiological state called dormancy. In order to identify the chilling and heat requirements to overcome the dormancy period of Cupressaceae pollen type in the south of Europe, we have carried out our study with aerobiological data from a 10-year (1996- 2005) period in Ponferrada, León (Spain). For the chilling requirements the best result was with a threshold temperature of 7.1ºC and an average of 927 CH. Calculation of heat requirements was carried out with maximum temperature, with 490 growth degree days (GDD) needed, with a threshold temperature of 0ºC. We have used the 2002-2003, 2003- 2004 and 2004-2005 periods in order to determine the real validity of the model. We have not used these years in developing the models. The dates predicted differ in only a few days from those observed: in 2002-2003 there was a difference of 11 days, in 2003-2004 predicted and observed dates were the same, but in 2004-2005 the difference obtained was of 43 days.

Opis:
The Jerusalem artichoke is a plant which has great potential as a crop food and forage, or as a raw material in alcohol industry. Energy requirement to produce ethanol from this crop is prepared for farm-size operation. It is one of the most efficient crops for ethanol production from a net energy viewpoint.
Do analizy energetycznej procesu zastosowano zintegrowany model produkcji etanolu w skali gorzelni rolniczej (rys. 1). Model uwzględnia ilości energii wydatkowane w trakcie uprawy bulwy (tab. 3) i w trakcie jej przerobu na etanol (rys. 2 i tab. 4). Z przeprowadzonego bilansu energetycznego wynika (tab. 5), że uzyskuje się znaczny zysk energetyczny, gdyż stosunek ilości energii uzyskiwanej do ilości energii włożonej wynosi ok. 3, 7.

Opis:
Introduction and aim. Vitamin-A-deficiency is a public health problem among preschool children of Nigeria. Study determined the contribution of bread and biscuits to vitamin A-daily-requirement of preschool children in Lagos-State, Nigeria. Material and methods. A community-based-study using a cross-sectional-design with analytical component was carried out from 2013-2015. Multi-stage-sampling-technique was used to select mothers of preschool-children (n=1599) in 5 Local-Government-Areas of Lagos. Respondents’ socio-demographic information and samples consumption-pattern were collected using validated, food-frequency-questionnaire/dietary recall. Retinyl palmitate content of randomly selected commonly-consumed brands of oven-fresh-bread stored for 5-days and biscuits (30- to 60-days) at prevailing outdoor-market-temperatures were analysed using High-Performance-Liquid-Chromatography. Contribution to preschool children’s vitamin A-daily-requirements were determined. Data were analysed using Student’s t-test and ANOVA at p<0.05. Results. Mean age of preschool children was 31.44±5.28 months. Mean intakes of samples were bread (117.6 ±15.9 g/d) and biscuits (59.8±27.9 g/d). Range of contribution to vitamin-A-daily-requirement of preschool-children was 0-178.4 %. Samples contribution to vitamin A-daily-requirement of pre-school-children were oven-fresh bread (68.3 %); 5 days bread (20.7%); 30-days biscuits (25.0%) and 60-days biscuits (6.8%). Overall contribution to vitamin A-daily-requirement were bread (51.4%) and biscuits (22.4%). Statistically significant difference existed between samples contribution and vitamin-A-daily-requirement of preschool children. Conclusion. Bread and biscuits samples contributed significantly to the vitamin-A-daily-requirement of preschool children.

Opis:
Individual total energy expenditure may be calculated as a sum of basal energy requirement and energy expenditure associated with physical activity. Measurement of basal energy requirement is not often conducted in dietetic practice, but may be applied using indirect calorimetry. The aim of the analysis was to present the possibilities of using the Fitmate PRO monitor in the assessment of resting metabolic rate and basal energy expenditure with a method of indirect calorimetry in a group of 91 overweight and obese women in various age. The mean results of the resting metabolic rate measured with method of indirect calorimetry using the Fitmate PRO monitor did not differ in the age groups of overweight and obese women. The results of the resting metabolic rate measured with method of indirect calorimetry using the Fitmate PRO monitor were correlated with body mass, height, fat mass, muscle mass and waist circumference. The Fitmate PRO monitor may be a valuable tool in everyday dietetic practice to assess the basal energy expenditure with method of indirect calorimetry in a group of overweight and obese women.

Opis:
Greenhouses are artificial growing environments that can provide the growth factors required for the production of crop plants out of season. In these structures, the low temperature values that occur during the year cause losses in yield and quality because they are not suitable for plant cultivation. In order to be able to grow out of season in these periods, the amount of heat required by the plants should be provided with additional heating. In the study carried out to determine the amount of heat needed in greenhouses throughout the year for the provinces of Kırşehir and Kahramanmaraş, which are located in two different regions of Turkey, the heat requirements that will arise in the presence or absence of a thermal screen in greenhouses with the same characteristics were calculated. In the calculations, the most common tomato plant grown in both provinces has been considered. Accordingly, if the greenhouse temperature is kept at a constant temperature of 18°C throughout the year, the heat energy requirements that emerge during the year are 469.90 kWh m.-2 for Kırşehir and 254.71 kWh m.-2 for Kahramanmaraş. In the case of using a thermal screen, these values were calculated as 401.53 kWh m.-2 for Kırşehir province and 218.91 kWh m.-2 for Kahramanmaraş province. As a result of the study, the amount of heat energy needed in greenhouses in provinces decreased with the use of thermal screens. It has been determined that this situation is extremely important in terms of reducing the share of heating in production costs and the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by fossil energy sources used for heating purposes.

Opis:
The thermal energy demand during the production period in greenhouses is important for determining the production economics and feasibility studies to be carried out. This is because evaluating future investments in the greenhouse sector requires accurate estimates of energy demand and costs. For this purpose, the heat energy required in the greenhouse and the heating costs were calculated, taking into account the meteorological conditions of the region, the optimum temperature demand of the plants and the technical specifications of the greenhouse. Two different cover materials were used to determine the heat energy requirement: polyethylene sidewalls and roof (PE) and polycarbonate sidewalls + polyethylene roof (PC+PE). In addition, calculations were made for 8 different greenhouse combinations, including different insulation statuses (poor, medium and good insulation) of these greenhouses without thermal screen and with thermal screens. As a result of the study, it was calculated that the amount of energy consumed was reduced by 4.5% when PC covering material was used instead of PE covering material as covering material for the greenhouse side walls. In greenhouses covered with PE and PC+PE covers, if well-insulated thermal screens are used, the amount of energy consumed will decrease by 23.1%-22.4%, respectively, compared to PE and PC+PE greenhouses without thermal screens. Heating energy and fuel costs that can be saved with low heat transfer coefficient cover materials and well-insulated thermal screens could be reduced by 25.8%. The results of the study will guide greenhouse producers in regions with similar climates in determining the energy consumed, greenhouse design, investment evaluation and also greenhouse sector policies.
