Opis:: In this paper, two indexes for own ship risk collision assessment in the restricted water are proposed. The first one concerns the collision threats for ships. The second one describes threats that are generated by human error. It is carried out dynamically with accordance to changes in time. To realize the main aim of the paper, the definition of the extended domain of the ship is introduced. Furthermore, the rules to determine the indexes and range of their values are developed. Finally, a comprehensive model and its potential application are presented. There are some important things to take into account during the model development: the interface, the levels and type of the output information, the type and accuracy of the information about the position and movement dynamics of the particular ships. It gives the opportunity to consider the different operation levels. In addition, it also allows us to take into account the different levels of measurement and the collision risk warnings. This approach can be helpful for both the VTS operator and OOW, the ship’s navigator, as the tool to support the safe navigation in restricted water.

Opis:: The existing regression models on the bank (wall) effect are compared to one another both dynamically (force level) and kinematically (counteracting helm and hull drift attitude during a steady-state passage along a bank). A small chemical tanker of known hull and rudder hydrodynamics is used as an example of computations. A lot of essential qualitative and quantitative discrepancies have been found, which might claim the regression models of little use in an adequate bank effect simulation. Further research is required in this field.
Przeprowadzono symulację efektu brzegowego w kanale dla małego chemikaliowca, wykorzystując dostępne modele regresyjne tego zjawiska. Główny nacisk położono na wielkość dryfu i wychylenie steru potrzebne do zrównoważenia efektu brzegowego podczas ustalonego ruchu jednostki poza osią kanału. Stwierdzono zasadnicze różnice między poszczególnymi modelami, co uniemożliwia uzyskanie prawdziwego ilościowego obrazu zjawiska. Konieczne są dalsze prace nad modelowaniem efektu brzegowego.

Opis:: In process of navigation stage where vessel is near the coast, it has the highest risk factor of the sea voyage. This factor is also affected by hydro-meteorological conditions - especially poor visibility. This phenomenon might lead to reducing traffic and, in extreme cases, even to closing traffic in given area by VTMS operators. This leads to potential economic loss. The role of sea pilot and captain has a specific character. It is often their decision whether enter or leave the port or to pass the most difficult area in bad weather. The article presents Pilot Navigation System (PNS) - system that will support a user in navigation in confined areas. References
Proces nawigacji na akwenie ograniczonym charakteryzuje się wyższym ryzykiem w porównaniu z akwenem otwartym. Na bezpieczeństwo nawigacji wpływ mają także warunki hydrometeorologiczne - głównie ograniczona widzialność. W konsekwencji prowadzi to do ograniczania ruchu statków przez lądowe ośrodki koordynacji - VTS, co wprowadza straty ekonomiczne. Specyficzną rolę pełnią tu kapitan i pilot kierujący statkiem - i od ich decyzji często zależy czy statek zostanie wprowadzony do portu, czy nie. Artykuł przedstawia narzędzie wspomagające pracę kapitana i pilota morskiego. W artykule zostanie przedstawiona zastosowana metoda badań rzeczywistych pilotowych systemów nawigacyjnych (PNS) oraz parametry prototypu PNS zbudowanego w ramach optymalizacji.
