Opis:: Road violence is a major problem that does not yet have a universally accepted definition. It is important to consider violence in the context of the road in order to prevent it. Road criminology focuses on the study and prevention of trafic- related deviations and problems generated aeftr and accident. There is a lack of general knowledge about the reality of crime in the road environment; the society is not aware that certain behaviours of harassment and aggression cause risky situations and fatal results. It is essential to address the problem, defining and delimiting it to combat it. Education is once again essential to prevent crime and to put an end to social permissiveness around unacceptable behaviour related to road safety.

Opis:: In analysing the causes of the dangers posed in road traffic, which often end up in accidents or other road incidents, we focus on evidence of violated road safety rules. This is an oversimplification of the problem, since it does not allow for getting to know the determinants of indicated violations which often come down to the broadly assessed state of health of road users, their psychophysical characteristics and personality, as well as their fatigue and mental state. The author of this paper not only analyses the aforesaid problems from the legal point of view, but also tries to look at them in an interdisciplinary way. The author further demonstrates how little we know about it; hence without in-depth exploration of the subject, preceded by credible scientific research, it will be extremely difficult to take reasonable preventive measures, whilst deterring with severe sanctions simply does not work.

Opis:: The number of road traffic accidents in the world has been increasing. This is mainly related to the constant increase in road traffic. The aim of this article is to examine the causes of road accidents in Poland in terms of road traffic safety. For this purpose, road incidents that occurred in Poland were analysed. In order to verify the presented statistical data on the state of safety in Poland, a survey was carried out to indicate the factors that most often cause traffic accidents. Possibilities for increasing the efficiency of traffic safety and an evaluation of the level of safety in vehicles were also part of the survey. The results showed that the state of RS, in the opinion of the respondents, is poor. The respondents correctly indicated the most frequent causes of road accidents, which confirms their knowledge in the field of road safety. The survey also showed that the activities of the police nd programmes for increasing safety need improvement. According to the respondents, the actions that should be taken to improve safety are, first of all, the improvement of the technical condition of roads and the modernisation of road infrastructure. In addition, the survey showed that most men are car drivers, while women primarily travel on foot; the results also showed that the knowledge of RS is better among women.

Opis:: W artykule zaprezentowano problem bezpieczeństwa na polskich drogach na podstawie analizy okresu 2005-2015. Opisano wybrane zagadnienia ilustrujące sytuację na drogach, które w sposób szczególny wpływają na poziom bezpieczeństwa uczestników ruchu, m.in liczebność występowania wypadków drogowych, przyczyny ich powstawania, skutki oraz grupy sprawców zdarzeń. Zaprezentowane w artykule wnioski pozwalają przybliżyć i zobrazować genezę tego zjawiska.
In the following article the problem of the safety on Polish roads based on analysis of the years 2005-2015 was presented. Selected issues exemplifying the situation on roads which in a distinctive way influence the safety of road users, e.g. the amount of occurring road accidents, their causes as well as results and the groups of perpetrators, were described. Conclusions presented in the article allow to bring closer and illustrate the genesis of this phenomenon.

Opis:: Road accidents and collisions are very common in Poland and, although for the last several years their number has been constantly decreasing, it is still one of the highest in Europe. This article attempts to provide an answer to the question whether drivers’ overrating the changes in the Polish road transport infrastructure might contribute to the status quo – the factor that has so far been left uninvestigated. In [21] the authors demonstrate that drivers take notice of the changes and perceive them as changes for the better.

Opis:: The safety of buses in road traffic is very important because of potential hazards of peoples' life and health, damage and loss of freight and high costs of crash effects. The technical state of all vehicles has been examined during required periodical inspections, but in spite of this, the technical conditions of large number of vehicles have been poor. The range of inspections and their frequency have been determined according to the law of each country. The methodology and frequency has been determined in accordance with domestic legislation. The methodology of technical inspections concerns only some important systems of vehicles but not all. For example, anti-lock systems, retarders, adaptive cruise control systems, speed limitation devices etc. have not been examined. The results of examinations of 120 buses and coaches have been presented in this paper. Tests were carried out in scope of securing safety in road traffic. The methodology of compulsory periodical inspections was applied during initial tests. Vehicles were examined on typical control stands and in road tests. A special methodology for road tests for coaches with anti-lock systems was elaborated. Additional checks were carried out in cases when the results of basic tests were unsatisfactory. More than 50 vehicles of the total number of examined buses were faulty.
