Opis:
For some time now I have implemented a manageable combined assessment approach emphasising competence and decision-making (Way 2008, 2009). To do this, we must be able to monitor trainees’ planning, monitoring, regulating, evaluating, recognition of flawed and successful processes and task variables during their assignments. The question is: How can translator trainers assess such a vast range of complex processes? One possible solution is through rubrics for each trainee project management role and for the final translation. In this proposal we attempt to counterbalance the multiple demands of trainee assessment, whilst also addressing the time constraints on trainers and the opinions of trainees. In our paper we will present the rationale for the rubrics (after the pilot trial February-June 2020), one rubric example, an example of the Support Sheets for trainees and the outline for a platform which, once constructed, will only require periodical updating by trainers.

Opis:
Rubrics, which are red-printed instructions concerned with the performance of worship, date back as early as to the Old Testament Books. As the time went on, they started to appear in the Catholic liturgy, and currently they are the indispensable part of the liturgical books. Their aim is to provide the liturgy with the proper dynamics which symbolizes the internal dynamics of the community. Rubrics perform a legislative function—they constitute one of the sources of the liturgical law. Some of them fulfil a didactic role towards the celebrant and the participants of the liturgy and unify the behaviours of the members of the community. If the liturgy was deprived of everything that is hidden behind the rubrics, it would become a static prayer monologue of the celebrant, so they indeed constitute the part of the liturgy. Defined in such a way, they can become locus theologicus for other theology branches, for instance thanks to the indication of the ways in which God’s internal action is hidden in particular liturgical instructions contained in rubrics.

Opis:
In the Byzantine Church there were many liturgical rubrics of the Great Constantinople church, Everghetidos, Athonite (or of the Holy Mountain), Studite, patriarchal (of the Holy Sepulchre), Costamonitou, skete, Studite-Alekseyev, of St Sabbas etc. Those rubrics were used in monasteries, sketes, cathedrals and parishes. Many of them existed simultaneously. Due to the changing church reality the place of the rubrics of the Great Constantinople church and of the Holy Sepulchre was taken by that of Jerusalem and later by Studite-Alekseyev rubrics. Before the XV century in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania the Great Constantinople and the Studite rubrics were enriched by the local liturgical traditions, even the ideological sense of many elements was changed and was assumed to be a part of autonomous, authentic ancient Russian religious life. At that time begins the reform of the liturgical rubrics, finished in the second half of the XVII century by patriarch Nikon. Starting from the XV century the Jerusalem rubrics in their Constantinopolitan version were introduced in the Russian Church. The reform of the liturgical rubrics in the Suprasl monastery, carried out by archimandrite Sergius Kimbar, was based on the liturgical indications of the Holy Mountain Typicon, Przemyśl Typicon, “tchastoslovs” of various Greek monasteries, as well as texts from “holy books of Church rules” in Slavonic. All the mentioned books were offered to the monastery by Joseph Soltan, the metropolitan of Kiev, Halych and all Russia. The reforms met some opposition from the brethren, in some cases justified, as certain changes were not based on the Church rubrics. Still in parish and in monastery churches of the Grand Lithuanian Duchy in the services there were a lot of elements coming “rather from the local habits than from the books”. One of the remarks made by archimandrite Sergius concerned the lack of readings from the Church Fathers during the Mattins and the Vigil. He questioned also the use of the Royal Doors, he introduced in Suprasl monastery churches the interior narthex etc. One can also notice the same Byzantine style changes in the Russian church culture, especially in choral music.

Opis:
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of rubric use on prospective teachers’ academic achievement and project performance in Turkey. This quasi-experimental study employed pretest, posttest, and retention tests for sixtyfour selected prospective teachers in a foreign languages department at a public university. Participants were divided into experimental and control groups and then matched according to their pretest scores and GPAs. A total of 33 prospective teachers were assigned to the experimental group and 31 to the control group. Only the experimental group used rubrics while working on their projects. Pretest, posttest and retention test scores revealed that the experimental group had statically significantly higher scores than the control group. Also, the experimental groups’ project assessment scores were statistically higher than those of the control group. These findings showed that rubric use has a positive impact on higher education students’ academic achievement and project performance. Findings suggest that rubrics may be effectively used to enhance prospective teachers` achievement and project performance.

Opis:
The present paper is an attempt to analyse the changes in the Good Friday oration in the light of the rubrics. This was made possible thanks to the analyses of the changes within certain categories in the liturgical books. The source material included Benedict XV’s Roman Missal, Ordo Hebdomadae Sanctae Instauratus and two typical editions of the revised Roman Missals from 1970 and 2002. The paper was divided into six parts. Firstly, the Good Friday oration was placed within the whole liturgy and its structure was presented. The next parts showed the question of the persons involved in the liturgy and their liturgical vestments. Finally, the place and manner of saying the oration were discussed. The analyses have led to the conclusion that the scope of the changes introduced in the rubrics was relatively large. While the place of the Good Friday prayer within the entire liturgy was not changed, its order was significantly modified. The categories of persons who directly participated in the prayer were changed. Another modification was related to the liturgical vestments and their colour. The places from which the Solemn Intercessions were said were clearly defined, and another way of praying the oration was added.

Maturity model as the tool for information/data literacy assessment
Autorzy:
Nahotko, Marek
Opis:
The aim of this article is to present the similarities between two assessment tools: data literacy (DL) rubrics and research data management services maturity models (RDMS MM). In addition to their structural similarity (both tools are presented in matrix form), they also share a functional similarity in that both include issues related to the users of research data. A content analysis was performed on six RDMS MMs (found in literature) to search for matrix elements to evaluate DL-related problems. The results of the analysis were used to conduct two studies. First, the ratio of RDMS MM dimensions related to DL problems was compared to other dimensions. Secondly, the level of compliance of the MM with the DL competency matrix was determined. In both cases, the results showed a large proportion of DL issues in RDMS MM.

Opis:
The integration of digital multimodal composing (DMC) in the second language (L2) and heritage language (HL) classrooms has expanded our notion of writing, shifting from a focus on the written mode to include other modes of expression (e.g., visual, textual, or aural). Notwithstanding the increasing presence of L2 multimodal learning tasks, which combine different semiotic resources (e.g., language and visual components such as images or videos) as intrinsic elements used to generate meaning, instructors have not yet modified the way in which they provide feedback. That is, despite the increasing integration of different modes in a multimodal task, instructors still focus exclusively on language development – replicating the feedback behaviors modeled by non-digital writing assignments – rather than on all the components of multimodal texts. In digitally influenced environments and societies, however, there is a need to reconsider our approaches to feedback to pay greater attention to the linguistic and nonlinguistic elements of DMC. With the scarcity of research on feedback in DMC, this article first identifies a gap in multimodal teaching and research regarding the role and focus on feedback in DMC, and, second, provides an assessment rubric from which to base formative feedback that addresses both linguistic and nonlinguistic elements to help students develop their multimodal texts.

Opis:
This study looks at how teachers can improve their in-class assessment practice in the Ellembelle District in Ghana, and aims to identify the challenges confronted by teachers in classroom assessments, as well as ways to improve the classroom assessments themselves. A quantitative research method was adopted using a simple random sampling technique. The study was conducted among 207 professional teachers using a mailed questionnaire (primary data), which was analyses using statistical tools. The study found that teachers face many challenges in their classroom assessments, and thus proposed performance-based assessments, rubrics, peer assessment, portfolio assessment and self-assessment as strategies for improving classroom assessments. It is recommended that the Ghana Education Service ensure a decrease in strength in classrooms in the district, incorporate peer assessment, and conduct in-service training, self-assessment, and performance evaluation to improve effective classroom assessments.

Opis:
We conducted a comparative study to evaluate the efficacy of synchronous and asynchronous interaction modes when providing feedback for improving academic writing, achievement motivation and critical thinking. The participants undertook an academic writing task, and were given feedback by a mentor using one of three interaction modes: asynchronous, synchronous e-feedback, and face to face. Data was collected from the participants via an assessment rubric applied to their writing after each stage of interaction, along with pretest and posttest questionnaires, and a semi-structured interview at the end. We found that synchronous feedback is more effective in increasing the quality of academic writing and achievement motivation, but for critical thinking we did not find any significant difference. We suggest that a strategy combining the advantages of each mode of interaction, considering the writers’ experience, may be the most effective way to promote academic writing, achievement motivation and critical thinking.
