Opis:
Crises and disasters pose significant obstacles to the socio-economic progress of any destination, especially in the tourism sector. Although travel and tourism are among the world’s most prominent economic sectors, they are susceptible to various hindrances, such as natural disasters, political instability and unpredictable terrorist attacks, which can harm the destination’s reputation and decrease tourist arrivals. While humans cannot control these incidents, they can implement measures, strategies and activities to mitigate their impact. This research aims to create and validate a scale for crisis management strategies in tourism using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). A 58-item questionnaire was developed based on literature reviews and interviews with destination marketing organizations (DMO’s), which was then reduced to 47 items after content validation by experts and the target population. EFA was conducted on data from 346 tourism stakeholders, resulting in six discrete factors: media, promotional measures, partnering, security and awareness, innovative marketing, and finance. Finally, AMOS 21 was used to perform confirmatory factor analysis, and the crisis management strategies scale developed retained 38 items.

Opis:
Purpose – The article aims to present the results of adapting the team boosting behaviors (TBB) scale to Polish cultural conditions and validating it. Design/methodology/approach – The research methodology consisted of three steps. In the first step, I translated the TBB scale into Polish using a rigorous back-translation method. Next, to assess content validity, nine domain experts reviewed the initial version of the instrument for clarity and relevance. Finally, I applied the scale to a sample of 532 team members and underwent thorough psychometric testing to assess construct validity. I employed structural equation modeling (SEM) with the partial least squares (PLS) factor-based algorithm technique for confirmatory factor analysis to assess the scale’s reliability and validity. Findings – After development, the Polish version of the TBB scale kept its three sub-scale structures. However, the validation process led to a slight reduction in the number of test items compared to the original scale. Research limitations/implications – The findings imply that the Polish version of the scale is a valid and reliable tool for assessing TBB. However, I recommend additional studies to confirm this instrument’s structure. Originality/value – The results confirmed the reliability and relevance of the tool for measuring TBBs in Polish cultural conditions. The tool provides the basis for implementing further research with the TBB construct in Poland and internationally.

Opis:
The purpose of this study is to develop a reliable and valid scale for measuring digital identity definitions, digital personalities, self-presentation strategies, communication styles in digital contexts, and digital identity perceptions of digital environment users over the age of 18. This study is significant since it is the first scale study on the subject of digital identity in Turkish literature, filling a gap in the field and creating a unique, reliable and valid scale. The process of developing this scale consists of many phases. First, in-depth interviews were conducted with 18 people and an item pool was created by reviewing literature and data obtained. Item numbers were reduced according to the view of experts. Expert opinions were obtained using the Lawshe method. Afterwards, the pilot study was applied to 278 participants for construct validity. Following this, the main study was conducted with 511 participants. After the data was collected, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were carried out. The scale’s validity and reliability was tested and approved. The result of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was a scale with 28 items and 3 factors. These findings are deemed important so that this scale can be considered a reliable and valid measurement tool.

Opis:
Purpose : The Massachusetts General Hospital Hairpulling Scale (MGH-HPS) is a 7-item self-report tool that measures hair-pulling behaviors. The study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Polish version of the MGH-HPS in a sample of adults. Methods : The online screening survey was completed by 1024 participants (777 women, 241 men, 6 non-binary), 92 of which (68 women, 24 men) were included in the study because they confrmed engaging in hair-pulling behaviors at least occasionally; 23 of those (2.25% of the initial sample) met the DSM-5 criteria for hair-pulling disorder. The participants were asked to complete the online version of the MGH-HPS, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21-Item Version, the Obsessive Compulsive Inventory-Revised, and a scale containing the DSM-5 hair-pulling disorder criteria. The factor structure, reliability, validity, and diagnostic accuracy of the Polish version of the MGH-HPS were examined. Results : The confrmatory factor analysis demonstrated that both a one-factor and a two-factor model ft the data well; however, given the high correlation between the factors, the unidimensional model may be superior. High internal consistency and convergent and divergent validity were obtained for the total score of the MGH-HPS and the Severity and Resistance and Control factors (Cronbach’s alphas: 0.89, 0.85 and 0.84 respectively). The ROC analysis indicated adequate prognostic ability of the total score to discriminate subjects with clinical and non-clinical hair-pulling. The optimal cut-of value was 13 points (sensitivity=100%, specifcity=62.22%). Conclusions : The Polish version of the MGH-HPS is a valid, reliable tool which may be used to measure hair-pulling behaviors in adult samples.

Opis:
Adequate ehealth literacy is one of the key instruments safeguarding people against unreliable health-related information obtained from the Internet. This paper presents an assessment of the reliability and the validity of a Polish version of the ehealth literacy scale (Pl-eHEALS). The assessment was carried out on the basis of two nationally representative samples of the Polish population. In the first survey of adults at least 50 years old, the technique of computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) was applied. In the second survey of young adult women (18–35 years old), the technique of computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) was used. The reliability and the validity of the Pl-eHEALS was analyzed. There were no floor or ceiling effects revealed in either sample. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were 0.90 and 0.88, and Guttman split-half coefficients were 0.89 and 0.81, respectively. Exploratory factors analysis revealed single factor models in both cases. The sum of squared loadings in the first survey was 6.090 and accounted for 58.72% of the variance. In the second survey, the sum was 5.927 and was responsible for 55.06% of the variance. Hypothesis testing showed that, for older adults, higher ehealth literacy was prevalent in the respondents who used the Internet more frequently. Among young adult women, higher readiness to use the Internet as a primary source of health-related information and to undertake specific internet health-related activities was associated with higher ehealth literacy. The analysis reported in this paper confirmed the reliability and the validity of the instrument. It should be stressed that, prior to this study, there was no validated Polish version of the eHEALS that could be used with Polish-speaking respondents.

Opis:
Work engagement as a predictor of health is an emerging concept in occupational science and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) is the most popular work engagement measurement tool. However, despite its popularity, the UWES is not free from controversy concerning its factorial validity. In this paper, 21 research studies on both UWES-9 and UWES-17 factorial validity within the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) approach have been reviewed in order to answer the question as to which of the UWES factorial structures displays greater validity. The originally proposed threefactor structure of the UWES has been recognized as superior in 6 studies. In further 6 studies, the UWES structure with 1 general factor has been found to be superior. In 8 studies, the authors have concluded that the one- and three-factor structures could be considered equivalent. One study has failed to confirm either the one- or three-factor structure of the UWES. These ambiguous results from studies focusing on the UWES factorial validity are puzzling because they not only indicate a lack of validity for the UWES as a measurement tool but might also challenge the whole concept of work engagement as a three-factor structure of dedication, vigor and absorption. Opis:
The aim of the article is twofold: to introduce a Polish adaptation of the Self-Talk Scale (STS) by Brinthaupt et al. (2009), including psychometric properties of the method, and to present some empirical results focusing on relationships between inner speech and other variables, like temperamental and personality traits, selected features of characteristic adaptations, and the self. In a Polish sample of 1,321 participants (770 women) aged 18–70 years ( M = 26.62, SD = 8.30), the internal structure of the scale consisting of self-criticism, self-reinforcement, self- management, and social assessment was confirmed with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), which showed an acceptable fit of the four-function model to the empirical data. However, according to EFA, two functions, self- management and social assessment, constituted one common factor. Internal consistency of the total score was high, α = .87 and .88, in two samples, as well as for particular functions, from .73 to .85. Validity of the STS was confirmed with the Internal Dialogical Activity Scale – Revised (Oleś et al., 2020). Moreover, STS results corresponded with traits like endurance and neuroticism; characteristic adaptation, like love for life; characteristics of the self, like reflection and rumination; and slightly with tolerance for ambiguity.

Opis:
The Skin Picking Scale-Revised (SPS-R) is an 8-item self-report measure of skin picking behaviors. It includes two subscales related to skin picking symptom severity and picking-related impairments. The study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Polish version of the SPS-R in a sample of adults reporting skin picking. The sample of 764 participants was recruited from the general population through an online survey. Among them, 159 meet the criteria of pathological skin picking applied in the original SPS-R validation study, and 57 endorsed all of the DSM-5 criteria for excoriation disorder. The SPS-R was back-translated into Polish. Factor structure, reliability, convergent and divergent validity, and diagnostic accuracy were assessed. Confirmatory factor analyses revealed a two-factor structure of the scale. High internal consistency and convergent and divergent validity were confirmed for the total score as well as for the subscales. High prognostic ability of the SPS-R total score was also demonstrated using ROC analysis: ≥5 was accepted as an optimal cut-off point for distinguishing skin picking sufferers from healthy controls. The Polish version of the SPS-R shows good psychometric properties and appears to be a reliable measure of skin picking symptoms and picking-related impairment.

Opis:
This article was created to meet growing student demand regarding the guidelines needed to build a research tool. The following article not only shows the research process but also remind the principles for the conduct of research. The theoretical part describes only those types of ordinal scales on the basis of which an attempt has been made to create a research tool. The aim of the research is to analyse the diagnostic utility (validity) of three tools for measuring involvement. Students were asked to assess the degree of lecturer involvement. It was justified because the students are persons participating in the education process and experiencing the involvement of the lecturer concerning the way of students' education. The involvement is built on interpersonal relationships. These interpersonal relationships form a specified type of involvement ties which became the subject of analyses in the research. The research problem constitutes the question: Which of the tested tools is the most effective for conducting the research procedure concerning involvement? The answer to this question was given in the conclusion of the article. One of the tools turned out to be the most pertinent but also the best for carrying out various types of statistical analyses. It was a tool that measured the intensity of the involvement degree in percentage-wise.
