Opis:
The article is devoted to the problems related to conflicts which may happen in schools or other educational circumstances between educator and young people. The author of this article is looking for new solutions in a creative way, using some rules from his personal work experience with pupils in schools. He stresses that in order to be able to overcome difficulties with students, teachers have to be aware of five stages of feelings: anger, refusal, afterthought, reconciliation and renewal. The analysis of the obtained empirical data made it possible to introduce the conclusions concerning teacher’s attitude towards pupils who are in conflict with them. On the basis of research justifiable is a statement that teachers need to have special skills such as predisposition to retrospect and reconcile in order to restore new vital relationship with young people.

The article attempts to analyse the notions of school culture and school climate as well as their definitions, scopes and the applied research approaches. Although such activities have been undertaken and presented both in English and German literature, they have failed to constitute a separate field of analysis in Poland and as such, have been merely addressed on the margins of other problems. In this article, the author points out the positions of researchers who have identified the need to clarify the separate identity of the notions and for this purpose, to adopt appropriate research approaches, often leading, as the author attempts to illustrate, to diverse conclusions.

Opis:
School culture is one of the indicators of school quality. Effective school leaders are continually working on changing the school, analyzing and examining why their school needs to become a better place for all students and employees. To change school culture it is very important to determine at what level it is, what elements representing it are satisfactory, and which elements are essential to be changed with the goal of improving them. The aim of this study was to determine indicators of school culture in primary schools and on this basis to determine its level. Indicators of school culture were viewed from the point of view of 562 teachers, assistants and other staff in primary schools. Through factor analysis seven indicators of school culture were distinguished in primary schools: encouraging joint work, evaluating employee achievement, teacher collegiality, principal-teacher feedback, learning partnership, colleagues’ compliments and personal involvement of teachers.

Opis:
Challenges faced by school principal in their daily work The article presents the challenges faced by school principals as a result of the processes specific to the modern world, analyzed in the literature. In this context, the most problematic issues in the daily work of school principals in Poland were presented. The research conducted by the Educational Research Institute indicates that from the perspective of the school principal the most problematic are administrative and legal issues, increasing bureaucratic requirements. Other problems identifi ed relate to the school staff and management of the school employees, school relations with the external environment, to a lesser extent, educational processes. Many of the described problems result from the demographic decline.

Opis:
The article presents changes in perception of some aspects of psychosocial school environment of students in 1990–2010 and a comparison of some indicators for Polish students and average for 34–41 countries from HBSC network (Health Behaviour in School-aged Children. A WHO Collaborative Cross-national Study). Data from the international HBSC surveys on health behaviour of school children, carried out every 4 years were analysed. The HBSC standard questionnaire was used. Representative samples consist of students aged 11, 13, 15 years. About 60% of students liked school; 14% didn’t like it at all; 37–63% felt pressured by schoolwork; 50% agreed that their classmates were kind and helpful. Analysed indicators were less positive in Poland than the average for countries in HBSC network and different trends of some indicators were found. Between 2002–2010 (after a structural reform of the education system) disadvantageous changes were evident. Students’ perception concerning different aspects of school functioning and its environment should be taken into consideration in planning educational policy.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present various definitions, popular theories, and methods of measuring student well-being at school. The article also indicates important factors that contribute to the students’ school well-being and its correlates. The article consists of four parts: a discussion of what well-being is, a definition of a student’s school well-being and its significant factors, an indication of significant correlates of a student’s school well-being, and a description of known methods of measuring it. Summing up the review of theories and research presented in this article, the student’s school well-being can be broadly defined as the student’s overall satisfaction and sense of satisfaction with school. At a more detailed level, important components of school well-being for students can be enumerated, such as social relationships, including relationships with teachers and peers, school successes, school and classroom conditions, and individual factors. School well-being measurement tools are usually self-descriptive and either capture it holistically as a student’s overall level of contentment and satisfaction with school or multidimensionally – the general level of school well-being consists of its significant factors. Despite the lack of agreement among researchers regarding the definition of a student’s school well-being and the certain heterogeneity of measurement tools, it is worth examining school well-being because it can be an important indicator of a student’s functioning in an educational institution. Today, schools should not only support students in developing their abilities and achieving the best results but also enable them to achieve well-being.

Opis:
The objective of the study was to assess the status of physical education at different levels of school education in rural and urban areas of Przemyśl County. The study included physical education teachers working in primary, middle and high schools. The analysis showed that most of the schools in the city have better conditions for the implementation of obligatory physical education classes. In addition, most teachers complain about conditions in schools. According to physical education teachers, combined classes, lack of equipment and appropriate sports base are the most common causes of making it impossible for them to accomplish the program of physical education in schools in the Przemyśl County.
Celem badań była ocena stanu wychowania fizycznego na różnych poziomach edukacji szkolnej na terenach wiejskich i miejskich powiatu przemyskiego. Badaniami (kwestionariusz ankiety) objęto nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego pracujących w szkołach podstawowych, gimnazjalnych i ponadgimnazjalnych. Przeprowadzona analiza wykazała, iż lepsze warunki do realizacji obowiązkowych zajęć wychowania fizycznego posiada większość szkół znajdujących się w mieście. Dodatkowo można stwierdzić, że większość nauczycieli narzeka na warunki panujące w szkołach. Według nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego łączenie klas, brak sprzętu i brak odpowiedniej bazy to najczęstsze przyczyny uniemożliwiające realizacje programu.
