Opis:: W artykule przyjęto założenie, iż zmiana codziennej praktyki szkolnej zorientowanej na wzrost uczniowskich osiągnięć może zaistnieć jedynie poprzez zmianę kultury szkolnej. Przywoływane zostały wnioski badań, które zostały opracowane przez zespoły z grupy państw o bardzo zróżnicowanym profilu edukacyjnym lub uwzględniające specyfikę procesów doskonalenia w różnych kontekstach międzynarodowych. Choć w opracowaniu uwzględniono dwie grupy czynników, wewnątrzszkolnych i zewnętrznych (kontekstowych), to jednak ujęcie tematu w centrum analiz postawiło rolę i znaczenie kultury szkoły w grupie czynników wewnątrzszkolnych, istotnych w procesie wspierania jakości i efektywności szkoły.
It was assumed in the article that the change of everyday school practice oriented at the growth of pupils' achievements is only possible through changing school culture. There are references to research conclusions which were elaborated by teams from a group of countries with very diversified educational profiles or taking into account the specificity of improvement processes in various international contexts. Even though the study incorporates two groups of internal and external (contextual) factors, the role and importance of school culture within the group of internal factors was given priority in the process of reinforcement of school quality and efficiency.

Opis:: The study presents some reflections upon the significance of school climate in teaching and education. The author focuses in particular on the relationship between school climate and aggressive behavior among pupils. Practical outcomes of the research concerning that issue and its implications include various initiatives to promote positive school atmosphere. The article discusses a SafeMeasures process described in detail in "Transforming School Climate and Learning. Beyond Bullying and Compliance" by B. Preble and R. Gordon, which is based on action research and aimed at the improvement of school climate.

Opis:: Celem tej analizy jest ustalenie, w jakim stopniu kapitał społeczny związany jest z kształtowaniem się stratyfikacji klasowej. Można to stwierdzić analizując wpływ pochodzenia społecznego, wykształcenia i zdolności jednostek na kapitał społeczny definiowany jako możliwości uzyskiwania pomocy od znajomych i krewnych. Empiryczną podstawą odpowiedzi na to pytanie są dane z badań ogólnopolskich przeprowadzonych w 2014 roku na zbiorowości osób w wieku 21−22 lat. Zgodnie z hipotezami, czynniki te niezależnie od siebie różnicują kapitał społeczny, chociaż oddziaływanie zdolności jest małe. Zależność od pochodzenia społecznego można interpretować jako świadectwo znaczącej roli kapitału społecznego w odtwarzaniu się podziałów klasowych, podczas gdy związek z poziomem wykształcenia sygnalizuje oddziaływanie cech nabywanych, odnoszących się do otwartości struktury społecznej.
This paper extends the debate on relationships between social capital and social stratiﬁcation. Drawing on the longitudinal study based on pupils born in 1992-1993 I investigate the effect of social origin, education and cognitive skills on social capital deﬁned in terms of help expected from friends. I detail the characteristics of these networks across different classes and then explore the ways these networks are affected by family background confronted by educational achievements and abilities related to meritocracy. Evidence suggests that all these variables affect social capital although abilities exert relatively small impact on getting help. According to expectations pupils originating from the upper-middle class families can receive more help than lower class categories that may display an important role of social capital in reproduction of the class structure. At the same time, the net effect of educational level afﬁrms the importance of achievements that maintain openness and counter-vail intergenerational transmission.

Considerations of the quality of life of secondary school students in the Nowy Sącz district

Opis:: Wstęp: Celem pracy była próba identyfikacji uwarunkowań jakości życia młodzieży szkół średnich pochodzącej z powiatu nowosądeckiego. Materiały i metody: Przedstawione analizy opierały się na badaniach ankietowych przeprowadzonych wśród uczniów wybranych szkół średnich powiatu nowosądeckiego. W tekście zaprezentowano wyniki badań jakości życia młodzieży w podziale na trzy wymiary: fizyczny, psychofizyczny i społeczny ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem podziału wyników ze względu na płeć, wiek i miejsce zamieszkania badanej grupy. Wyniki: Badania wykazał, iż młodzież szkół średnich stosunkowo wysoko oceniła swoje życie jako całość. Dodatkowo można dostrzec istotne statystycznie różnice w postrzeganiu wybranych elementów jakości życia w podziale na płeć, wiek i miejsce zamieszkania badanej grupy młodzieży.
Background: The aim of studies was to identify the considerations of the quality of life of secondary school students from the Nowy Sącz district. Material and methods: The study was based on surveys conducted among students of selected secondary schools in the Nowy Sącz district. The text presents the results of research into the quality of life of young people divided into three aspects: physical, psychophysical and social, with particular emphasis on the division of results by gender, age and place of residence of the study group.Results: The study showed that secondary school students assessed their lives as a whole relatively high. In addition, there are statistically significant differences in the perception of selected elements of quality of life, broken down by gender, age and place of residence of the studied group of young people.

Opis:: The Education System Act is a pro-inclusive legal act. It assumes joint education of children with and without disabilities. It is intended to forming of a new, humanized normative order. This new order should be based on knowledge, mutual respect, helpfulness and the view of the community as a social home in which there is a place for all people regardless of their level of efficiency, wealth, ethnicity or religion. The reasons for the joint education seem to be permeated by concern for human beings. However the question arises whether inclusive education in the current form really serves this purpose. To address this question I have analyzed formal and legal aspects of education. I have examined the records of the Education System Act and the textbooks. I have found that the Education System Act enables locational inclusion. I have stated that the approved textbooks for widely available middle schools contain incomprehensible content for students. They do not meet most of the required conditions for implementing tasks assigned to them in the educational process of students with mild intellectual disabilities.

Opis:: Subject and purpose of work: At the time of constant changes in the sphere of education, any changes aimed at improving the quality of school’s work are of particular importance. Therefore the aim of the current research was to determine the quality of primary school’s work in its main areas as evaluated by parents. Materials and methods: The theoretical insights on the quality of school’s work were obtained on the basis of the review of the literature on the subject and acts of education law. The empirical data from the research was gathered through the diagnostic survey method with the use of the author’s research tool, i.e., a questionnaire addressed to parents of students in grades IV-VIII attending one of the primary schools in the Biała Podlaska District (N=103). Results: The obtained data showed quite a diverse assessment of the quality of the primary school’s work in some of its areas. Conclusions: Most of the parents surveyed gave specific proposals for actions to improve the quality of the school’s work, mainly concerning the increase of their participation not only in financial aid, but also in the didactic and educational area, which well forecasts and prompts school authorities and tutors to recommend the above-mentioned proposals and implement them in real life.
