Transmissibility is used to assess dynamic responses of the occupant-seat system, and most studies have exclusively assessed the transmissibility from the floor to the cushion or the backrest surface with the human body. In this investigation, the vertical vibration transmitted from the floor to six specific locations both on the seat surface and the frame when the seat was fixed on three positions on the track was examined utilizing an SAE J826 manikin and 12 male adults (0.25 to 20 Hz) for a duration of 120 seconds at three vibration amplitudes. The transmissibility from the floor to the headrest frame, the cushion surface, the headrest surface, the seat back frame, and the seat back surface all exhibited a principal peak frequency within 4–5 Hz. With the exception of the cushion frame, the principal peak frequency and the peak transmissibility in transmissibilities to all positions decreased with increasing vibration amplitude, indicating the non-linearity within the occupant-seat system. It was also found modifying seat track positions minimally affected the seat transmissibility to either the surface or the frame of the seat. Polyurethane foam amplified vibration at peak frequency, simultaneously enhancing static sitting comfort and reducing the vertical vibration transmission above peak frequency.

Opis:
The paper deals with research into the effectiveness of operation of a seat suspension system as a means to protect industrial and construction machinery operators from vibrations. The basic categories of the sources of mechanical vibrations that disturb the functioning of heavy machinery have been discussed. The root mean square acceleration values of the vibrations to which the operators of the most popular heavy machinery are exposed during their work have also been given. The input signals have been determined that induce seat vibrations and whose spectral characteristics are representative for the excitations encountered in cabins of industrial and construction machinery of different kinds. A biomechanical model of the human body has been developed as a discrete mechanical system with many degrees of freedom and with viscoelastic links. The vibro-isolating properties of a semi-active and active seat suspension system with a scissor linkage mechanism used to guide the isolated object were investigated within the work carried out. The general forms of mutually opposing vibro-isolation criteria have been given, which were used to evaluate the effectiveness of operation of the seat suspension systems. Moreover, the vibro-isolating properties of a semi-active and an active seat suspension system were determined from simulation tests where the biomechanical model of the human body was applied and from experimental tests carried out with participation of seated humans and these data have been presented in the final part of this paper.
W pracy przedstawiono badanie skuteczności działania układu zawieszenia siedziska na potrzeby ochrony operatorów maszyn roboczych przed drganiami. Zaprezentowano podstawowe kategorie powstawania drgań mechanicznych, które zakłócają funkcjonowanie maszyn roboczych. Podano również wartości skuteczne przyspieszenia drgań oddziałującego na operatorów podczas pracy w powszechnie wykorzystywanych maszynach roboczych. Określono sygnały wymuszające ruch drgający siedziska, których charakterystyki widmowe są reprezentatywne dla wymuszeń spotykanych w kabinach maszyn roboczych różnego rodzaju. Opracowano model biomechaniczny człowieka jako dyskretny układ mechaniczny o wielu stopniach swobody, którego elementy składowe połączono lepko-sprężyście. W pracy badano właściwości wibroizolacyjne semi-aktywnego oraz aktywnego układu zawieszenia siedziska z nożycowym mechanizmem prowadzenia izolowanego obiektu. Podano ogólne postacie przeciwstawnych kryteriów wibroizolacji, za pomocą których oceniano skuteczność ich działania. W końcowej części pracy określono właściwości wibroizolacyjne semi-aktywnego oraz aktywnego układu zawieszenia siedziska, które wyznaczono na podstawie badań symulacyjnych z wykorzystaniem biomechanicznego modelu człowieka oraz na podstawie badań eksperymentalnych z udziałem ludzi.

The paper discusses the nature and the specificacy of the Polish deputy’s mandate as viewed in the light of the Polish Four-Year Seym’s legislation, and above all in the light of the statute on "Sejmiks" and also in the light of Constitution of 3 May 1791. The paper tries to answer whether – on the basis of the aforementioned provisions – the discussed mandate was open or imperative. In order to arrive at the correct answer the author outlines the scope of the analyzed problem. Thus he studies the relationship between the deputies and their electorate, the circles of the former and the latter, the methods applied for the election of deputies and the question of the possible instruction imposed on the deputies and the binding force of the instruction. He also discusses the reporting to which the deputies were obligated upon returning from the session. In the area of these questions the author tries to confront the regulations contained in the statute on the Sejmiks and those provided by the Constitution of 3 May. On the basis of the analysis made by him the author arrives at the conclusion that – in the light of the Four-Year Seym legisilation – the mandate was open. This meant that the concept of imperative mandate was rejected. The paper tries to sum up what previously was established in the research on the problem. In addition the author explores the extent to which the idea of legal accountability of deputies to their electorate might have affected the nature of the deputy’s mandate.

ObjectivesThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of the seat cushion contour and the sitting posture on the seat pan interface pressure distribution and subjective comfort perception.Material and MethodsOverall, 16 volunteers typed a text passage on a laptop while seated, by assuming 3 kinds of common sitting postures (forward, relaxed and upright) in 4 seat cushion configurations: chair only, and chair with 1 of 3 supplementary cushions. Pressure data and cushion comfort ratings were collected in the experiment.ResultsIt was found that the sitting posture and the seat cushion contour had different impacts on surface pressure. The seat cushion contour had an impact on pressure parameters and pressure distribution on the seat pan, while the sitting posture affected the location of peak pressure on the seat pan. The correlation analysis revealed that the subjective comfort rating was significantly correlated with average pressure (AP) and mean peak pressure (MPP).ConclusionsThe conclusion was that the cushion contour had a greater effect on seat pan interface pressure parameters than the sitting posture. Notably, AP and MPP can be indicators for assessing seat cushion comfort in a short-term perspective.

The selection of a child seat is not an easy task for future parents. Information about child seats, assembly methods, usability and prices affect the purchasing preferences of parents or legal guardians of children. The article contains information about the factors to pay attention to when buying a child seat. The main purpose of the article is to analyze and evaluate information on the selection of a vehicle seat for the right passenger vehicle and child. The article discusses information about the ADAC child seat crash test and the plus test, which are mainly performed for rear-facing child seats.The article presents information on groups of child seats and the method of their installation in a passenger vehicle. The purchasing predispositions of parents and legal guardians in terms of the selection of a child seat were also described. It should be noted that most respondents pay attention to the level of safety of child seats than to their price.

In order to increase the child's safety when traveling in a passenger car, special child seats are used to minimize the child's injuries in a car accident. The aim of the article is to discuss the topic of design solutions for child seats. It should be noted that child seats are built in order to increase the safety of the transported child during a car accident. Child seats are crash-tested. Unfortunately, no tests related to vibration comfort are carried out. Undoubtedly, attention should be paid to the vertical vibrations that penetrate from the road surface, through the structure of the passenger car, to the seat of the child seat. Vibration comfort is particularly important in the case of long journeys. Because the current child seats on the market are adjusted only to the mass and age of the child. Choosing the right car seat is not a simple task. Not every child will feel comfortable in a seat adapted only to mass and age. The anthropometric dimensions of the child are of great importance. Therefore, more and more child seats are created that allow you to change the position of the backrest or seat in such a way as to ensure both the safety and comfort of the child during the journey.

This article focuses on mobility of companies in the European Union in the light of the Court of Justice’s judgment in the C-106/16 Polbud – Wykonawstwo sp. z o.o. case. The Court of Justice has once again interpreted the treaty provisions relating to the EU freedom of establishment in the context of cross-border conversion of companies. The in-depth analysis of the case from the substantive law perspective as well as from the conflict-of-law perspective has raised some doubts with regard to the background of the judgment. Therefore, the article assesses whether the cross-border transfer of a seat took place in the Polbud case or the cross-border conversion, or possibly a new company has come into existence. Most of the analysis is aimed at exposing the risks related to the companies’ mobility under the rules adopted in the Polbud judgment, in particular in the absence of respective European and national regulation.

Results of investigations of the dynamic loads acting on the occupants of backseats in a passenger car during a frontal collision and an analysis of such loads have been presented. The analysis was based on results of experimental tests carried out on a crash-test stand at the Automotive Industry Institute (PIMOT). It was focused on the influence of the pre-tightening of seat belts on the state of loading of test dummies representing a 50 centile male (M50) and a child aged about 10 years. The child dummy was placed in a child safety seat (which included both a seat cushion and a backrest), designed for children with a mass of 15 to 36 kg. The dummies were restrained with the use of standard seat belts. The quantities taken into consideration included head and thorax accelerations measured for both dummies and, for the M50 dummy, forces and moments acting on the neck, thoracic deflection, and axial forces in the thighs. In the analysis, results of three crash tests with different seat belt pre-tightening force values were taken into account. To estimate the risk of injury, indicators of biomechanical immunity of the human body to the effects of impact loads were used. Conclusions drawn from a frame-by-frame analysis of films recorded by means of high-speed cameras were also taken into consideration at this work. The benefits of adequate pre-tightening of seat belts by the user, especially by seat belt pretensioners, were confirmed. In the case of seat belts with pretensioners, the risk of severe injury to an adult passenger (AIS4+) was estimated at 18%, i.e. about a half of that incurred when seat belts without pretensioners are used. For a child, the pretensioners were found to reduce this risk to 9%, i.e. to about one-third.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań i analizę obciążeń dynamicznych, jakie działają na osoby na tylnych siedzeniach w samochodzie osobowym, podczas zderzenia czołowego. Analiza została przeprowadzona na podstawie rezultatów badań eksperymentalnych, przeprowadzonych na stanowisku zderzeniowym w Przemysłowym Instytucie Motoryzacji. Uwagę skupiono na wpływie wstępnego napięcia pasów na stan obciążenia manekina reprezentującego 50-centylowego mężczyznę (M50) oraz manekina dziecka w wieku około 10 lat. Manekin dziecka siedział w foteliku samochodowym (podstawka z oparciem), przystosowanym dla dzieci o masie 15÷36 kg. Manekiny przypięte były za pomocą standardowych pasów bezpieczeństwa. Rozważono przyspieszenie działające na głowę i klatkę piersiową obu manekinów oraz siły i momenty działające na szyję, ugięcie klatki piersiowej oraz siły osiowe w udach manekina M50. W analizie zostały wykorzystane wyniki trzech prób zderzeniowych, w których pasy bezpieczeństwa były wstępnie napięte siłami o różnych wartościach. Do oceny ryzyka obrażeń wykorzystano wskaźniki biomechanicznej odporności ciała człowieka na skutki obciążeń udarowych. Podczas analizy wykorzystano także wnioski z analizy poklatkowej filmów nagranych za pomocą kamer do zdjęć szybkich. Potwierdzono korzyści wynikające ze wstępnego napięcia pasów bezpieczeństwa przez użytkownika, a zwłaszcza przez napinacze. Oceniono, że po zastosowaniu napinacza ryzyko ciężkich obrażeń dorosłego pasażera (AIS4+) jest około dwa razy mniejsze (18 %) niż w samochodzie bez napinaczy. W przypadku dziecka jest to 9 %, czyli trzykrotnie mniej niż z pasami bez napinaczy.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to present the response of a human body-seat model to the external disturbance in form of an impulse excitation. A 2-DOF Active Human Body Model with two distinct positions (“back-on” an “back-off”) is used in the simulations. Additionally, two different seat types are considered: rigid and passive. Several types of impulse excitations are used ranging in shape, amplitude and disturbance time. A comparison of the results is made: the first on the assumption of equal excitation energy, and the second one for impulses of equal amplitudes but different duration.
