Opis:: Using qualitative methods of source analysis and tracing the process of scientific discourse, an attempt was made to answer the research question: What is the relevance of the system category for security sciences? The study provides arguments in favour of confirming the author’s hypothesis that the category of system constitutes one of the universes of security sciences in terms of research object as well as methodology. In addition, the category is important for defining the identity of this scientific discipline.

Opis:: The paper presents the essence of the education for safety. There were analyzed both theoretical issues and curriculum of the education aimed at matters related to widely understood safety in the system of public education as well as system of education in the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. Analysis of the theoretical aspects as well as of the practice proves that education for safety is successful. The society is educated in the necessary scope and therefore protected from a broad range of threats. Officers of the uniformed services are also educated in the scope sufficient for a professional fulfillment of the statutory duties. Such broad scope of safety knowledge allows the society to feel relatively secure. Such a sense of security is also contributed by the fact that this education continues to evolve and that main determinants of it are history, culture, traditions, geographical location, needs and challenges – so in fact potential threats, which in turn affects the process of education, attitudes, as well as the awareness.

Described unsatisfactory state of interdisciplinary shared a few overarching security terminology has led to the emergence of Czech security terminology.

Tytuł:: The impact of simplified inference methods on the results of research on the sense of security

Opis:: The article highlighted the doubts and limitations of the traditional way of conducting surveys on fear of crime by political scientists and criminologists. Therefore, it was proposed to introduce the concept of bounded rationality to check the adequacy of these studies, and the experiment was conducted to demonstrate the impact of the framing effect and a simplified inference method, the availability heuristic on the formulation of answers in classic survey questions concerning fear of crime. The article discussed the results of the author’s own research and made suggestions for further possible research on heuristics and fear of crime, and indicated the implications of the results for the crime fear survey practice.

Opis:: The article examines the research carried out by Ilona Urych and Andrzej Mocarski documented in their book “Military Education of Youth: On the Ground of Theory and Experience.” In the present paper, the authors introduce the study, acknowledging its original findings concerning military education in Polish secondary schools, particularly those with a uniform (military) profile. By synthesizing the content of the monograph, the article contextualizes it within the realm of security science research in Poland. This analysis not only provides an evaluation of the monograph but also proposes avenues for further research into the process of military education of young people in Poland.

Formally, security science as a scientific discipline has been registered in Poland in 2011 in a newly separated area and a newly separated field of social sciences, next to defense sciences, media studies, political sciences, science on public policy, sciences on cognition and social communication, pedagogy, psychology, sociology. The authors in the article carry out a critical analysis and diagnosis of the state of education for security in Poland in the context of the paradigms of security sciences and European Union standards.

Opis:: Public safety and public order are a main welfare desirable by man and the entire community, in every epoch and every longitude, parallely has become the constant object of doctrinal inquiries. The specificity of each area of science and many other fields of science, their qualities and the desirable elements made the definition of these values, depending on the discipline of science, which adopted a different shape. Security and public order in the legal sciences are mostly expressed in the matter of substantive administrative law and subsequently also in constitutional law and substantive criminal law. The importance of this issue is evidenced by the creation of a new discipline – the Security Science, dedicated to this subject, by the resolution of the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles of 28th January 2011, which discusses the title issue in a multi-threaded and multifaceted manner. The specificity of security, its subjective perception and the state of reality, forces the concept to be analyzed also from the perspective of psychology, sociology and philosophy. On the other hand, for a deeper investigation of this phenomenon, the origin of its development and the formulation of future trends, it is important to examine this phenomenon by the historical instruments.

Opis:: The effectiveness of any scientific research depends on the correct preparation of the research project. This cannot be done without the practical capability of applying scientific methodology. In the research process, the way of defining certain facts or the operationalization of concepts is of great importance. A key issue is the accuracy and reliability of research, as well as the construction of a theory based on an axiomatically structured layout of empirically verified theorems. The article is an important voice in a broader discussion of identity building in security science. The author is convinced that the empirical dimension of the identity of security sciences will find its application in the research procedure, as well as in the implementation of qualification work in this area.
Efektywność wszelkich badań naukowych uwarunkowana jest prawidłowym przygotowaniem projektu badawczego. Nie da się tego zrobić bez praktycznych umiejętności stosowania naukowej metodologii. W procesie badawczym duże znaczenie ma sposób definiowania określonych faktów czy też operacjonalizacja pojęć. Istotną sprawą jest kwestia trafności i rzetelności badań, jak również budowy teorii opartej na aksjomatycznie ustrukturowanym układzie twierdzeń weryfikowanych empirycznie. Artykuł jest ważnym głosem w szerszej dyskusji dotyczącej budowania tożsamości nauk o bezpieczeństwie. Autor jest przekonany, że empiryczny wymiar tożsamości nauk o bezpieczeństwie znajdzie swe zastosowanie w procedurze prowadzonych badań, a także w realizacji prac kwalifikacyjnych z tego obszaru.

Opis:: In the literature on the subject, the term "security" is accompanied by the terms "non-threatening state", "non-threatening state of peace", "state of peace", "state of certainty". The lexical meaning of the term (Latin sine cura – no worries) should be understood as a situation in which there are no threats. In the context of lexical meaning, the term security means a risk-free situation. Contemporary understanding of the term focuses its attention on learning security understood as the resultant of the theory and practice of providing a reference subject with the possibility of survival (existence) and the pursuit of own interests, particularly using opportunities, taking challenges, minimizing risk and counteracting all types of threats. Definitive approaches to the term security indicate that it should be understood as a state and process. The state of security should be understood as a sense of confidence of the subject and guarantee of its survival, while the process – as chance for improvement and development of state’s means to protect and defend it. The current catalog of security threats proposed by Barry Buzan was extended in the second half of the 20th century from military nature threats to threats of a political, economic, social, and environmental nature. These changes have redefined the modern understanding of security. The main research problem was formulated as the question: what are the theoretical aspects of contemporary security threats? The article aims to analyze and diagnose contemporary definitions of security and its threats. The research process uses methodological methods of scientific cognition, mainly analysis and criticism of literature.
W literaturze przedmiotu terminowi „bezpieczeństwo” towarzyszą określenia „stan niezagrożenia”, „stan niezagrożenia pokoju”, „stan pokoju”, „stan pewności”. Leksykalne znaczenie tego terminu (łacińskie sine cura – bez troski) rozumieć należy jako sytuację, w której nie występują zagrożenia. W kontekście znaczenia leksykalnego termin bezpieczeństwo oznacza więc sytuację pozbawioną zagrożeń. Współczesne rozumienie tego terminu koncentruje swą uwagę na poznaniu bezpieczeństwa rozumianego jako wypadkowa teorii i praktyki zapewnienia referencyjnemu podmiotowi bezpieczeństwa możliwości przetrwania (egzystencji) i realizacji własnych interesów w szczególności poprzez wykorzystanie szans, podejmowanie wyzwań, minimalizowanie ryzyka oraz przeciwdziałanie wszelkiego rodzaju zagrożeniom. Definicyjne ujęcia terminu bezpieczeństwo wskazują, że powinien być on rozumiany jako stan i proces. Poprzez stan bezpieczeństwa rozumieć należy poczucie pewności podmiotu oraz gwarancję jego przetrwania, poprzez proces szansę na doskonalenie i rozwój środków państwa służących do jego ochrony i obrony. Współczesny katalog zagrożeń bezpieczeństwa, zaproponowany przez Barrego Buzana, został rozszerzony w drugiej połowie XX wieku z zagrożeń o charakterze militarnym na zagrożenia o charakterze politycznym, gospodarczym, społecznym i środowiskowym. Zmiany te na nowo zdefiniowały współczesne rozumienie bezpieczeństwa. Główny problem badawczy artykułu sformułowano w formie pytania: jakie są teoretyczne aspekty współczesnych zagrożeń bezpieczeństwa. Celem artykułu jest analiza i diagnoza współczesnych definicji bezpieczeństwa i jego zagrożeń. Proces badawczy wykorzystuje metodologiczne metody poznania naukowego, głównie analizę i krytykę literatury.
