Opis:
The aim of this study was to compare the cryoprotective effects of egg yolk from different avian species (hen, goose and quail) on post-thaw quality of dog semen. Total motility (TMOT) and progressive motility (PMOT) of frozen-thawed spermatozoa were not significantly differed among the extenders, but were higher in the quail-egg yolk based extender compared with extender containing hen or goose egg yolk. It was found that post-thaw sperm motion parameters, velocity VCL and ALH, were significantly higher in the quail-egg yolk based extender. No marked differences in post-thaw sperm plasma membrane integrity (PMI) and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) were observed among the extenders. In conclusion, the results of the present study suggest that goose or quail egg yolk is a suitable alternative to hen egg yolk for the cryopreservation of dog semen.

Opis:
The participation of Ukrainian Hilfspolizei in murders of the Jewish population in eastern Ukraine has been poorly investigated, especially at the local level. The articlr focuses on the activity of the Ukrainian Hilfspolizei with regard to the murder of Jews and the plundering of Jewish property. It also investigates the motivations of those who joined the Ukrainian police in the Sumy oblast. Ukrainian auxiliary forces took part in extermination of Jewish population and communities in many regions of Ukraine. But how high was level participation in persecutions, plundering and murders of Jews by Ukrainian policemen in Sumy Oblast – a Borderland between Ukraine and Russia? Did they take part in mass shooting or played auxiliary role? Who were members of Ukrainian police in Sumy oblasts? What about their background and collective social portrait? The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (Organizatsia Ukra’inskych Nationalistiv) took active part in creation and activity of the Ukrainian militia (Ukrains’ka narodna militsia) in western and central regions of Ukraine. After disband of the militia OUN infiltrated its member in structures of police. The same situation we can see in case of Russian right radical party National-Labor Union of New Generation (Nazional’no-Trudodvoy Souz Novogo Pokolenia) and its actions in Russia Nazis occupied. How strong was influence and infiltration to Ukrainian police abovementioned totalitarian nationalistic organization in mostly Russian speaking regional center like Sumy? What influence to local police did the Soviet intelligence have? How deeply did integral nationalistic ideology penetrate in Weltanschauung of Ukrainian policemen in Sumy oblast? What were motivations which forced Ukrainian policeman take part in anti-Jewish actions? Could we speak about specific social-psychological motivations of members Ukrainian police in Sumy oblasts? Such questions in the context of “ordinary men/willing executors discussion” using new unpublished sources from German, Ukrainian, American and Israeli archives are addressed here.

Opis:
The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of Luteolin (LUT) on semen quality, oxidative stress, apoptosis, acrosomal integrity, mitochondrial membrane potential and dead sperm ratio in rabbits. Ejaculates from six New Zealand rabbits were collected, evaluated and pooled. The pooling was divided into five groups as control (no additive) LUT 25 μM, LUT 50 μM, LUT 100 μM and LUT 200 μM and LUT added. It was then filled into a falcon tube with Tris-based extender at a final concentration of approximately 35 x 106 spermatozoa. Diluated rabbit semen samples were drawn into frozen and thawed. Frozen semen straws were thawed at 37°C in 30 seconds. According to our findings, no statistical difference was found between all doses of luteolin and the control group in the CASA (computer assisted sperm analysis) analysis performed at 4°C. However, total motility, progressive motility and rapid sperm percentage were found to be higher in the frozen and thawed rabbit semen at a dose of LUT 50 μM compared to the other groups (p<0.05). While amplitude of lateral head displacement (ALH) and beat cross-frequency (BCF) values were found at the lowest dose of LUT 200 μM, a statistically significant difference was observed between the other groups. When the flow cytometry results were examined, no statistical difference was found between the rate of dead sperm, acrosomal integrity, mitochondrial membrane potential and apoptosis rate. Morever, the H2O2 percentage was found to be lower in all experimental groups compared to the control group (p<0.001). In conclusion, the addition of LUT in long-term storage of rabbit semen provided a protective effect for spermatozoa with its antioxidative properties against damage caused by cryopreservation.

W Szczypiornie – Kaliszu Niemcy w obozie nr 5 od 12 lipca 1917 r. internowali około 3,5 tysiąca legionistów Piłsudskiego, którzy odmówili złożenia przysięgi. Szczypiorno było miejscowością graniczącą między Prusami i Rosją w 1815 r. od 1847 r. naczelnikiem komory celnej był Wojciech Chmielowski, ojciec Adama Chmielowskiego (założyciela zgromadzenia Albertynów i Albertynek, kanonizowanego na Świętego w 1989 r., powstańca styczniowego, artysty malarza). W czasie internowania zmarło siedmiu legionistów, którzy obecnie spoczywają w grobowcu Żuczkowskich na cmentarzu katolickim przy Rogatce w Kaliszu.15 grudnia1917 r. legionistów przeniesiono do obozu w Łomży.
In Szczypiorno near Kalisz, in Camp nr 5, starting from 12 July 1917 the Germans interned about 3.5 thousand legionaries of J. Piłsudski. They were the legionaries who refused to make a pledge. Szczypiorno was a place on the border between Prussia and Russia in1815. Since 1847 the chief executive officer of the Custom House was Wojciech Chmielowski, the father of Adam Chmielowski (the founder of the congregations of Albertine Brothers and Sisters, canonised in 1989, the 1863 Rising insurgent, and a painter). Seven legionaries died whilebeing interned in the camp. They are buried in the Żuczkowski Family Tomb in the Catholic Cemetery at Rogatka in Kalisz. In December 1917the legionaries were transferred to a camp in Łomża.
