Opis:
In this paper, analysis of a half-car model with linear and nonlinear semi-active dampers is performed. Using Matlab-Simulink software, a response of the system to a harmonic excitation of variable frequency and to an impulse excitation is found. The effect of both the distribution of spring-supported mass and the asymmetry of the support on the frequency characteristics of velocities and displacements at the mounting points of the dampers are analyzed. Additionally, characteristics of forces generated by the semi-active dampers and the response of the system when crossing an obstacle are determined.

Opis:
In this paper, the modelling process and control strategy of a semi-active seat suspension with a magneto-rheological damper (MR) is presented. The proposed system should protect operators of working machines against vibration in the horizontal direction. The control algorithm mimics the desired force that might be introduced into the seat suspension actively. The model parameters are determined experimentally as a function of the control current. The elaborated system is tested by using an electro-hydraulic shaker that generates vibrations for the semi-active seat suspension with the seated human body. Power spectral densities and transmissibility functions are presented as the results of simulations and measurements. In addition, transmissibility factors and maximum relative displacements of the suspension are evaluated for both the conventional passive seat suspension and the semi-active system with an MR damper.

Opis:
This paper presents the design and development of a semi-active suspension system for a vehicle. The main idea is to develop a system that is able to damp vibration of the vehicle body while crossing the bumps on the road. This system is modeled for a single wheel assembly and then the laboratory prototype of the complete system has been manufactured. It is used to physically simulate the spring-mass-damper system in vehicle and observe the frequency response to the external disturbances. The developed low-cost smart experimental equipment consists of a motor with offset mass which works as an oscillator to induce vibration, a spring-mass-damper system where the variable damper works as a pneumatic cylinder that allows varying the damping constant (c). Proportional-Integral (PI) controller is used to control the damping properties of the semi-active suspension system automatically. The system is designed in contrast to the most of the available suspension systems in the market that have only passive damping properties. The results of this research demonstrate the efficiency of the developed variable damper-based control system for the vehicle suspension system.

The paper presents results of experimental tests of characteristics of semi-active dampers with by-pass valve and results of calculations evaluating suspension damping ratio taking into consideration also installation ratio and vehicle sprung mass changes. The asymmetry of damper characteristic is also investigated and changes in damper damping coefficients versus damper velocity. The papers also compares these values of passive damper used in this car with tested semi-active damper.
Opis:
Low speeds of mobile heavy machines makes that the force derived from rough roads cause intense excitation of low frequency vibration, the reduction of which is possible only by active or semi active methods. In conditions of low frequency, the energy dissipation in the tire reduces the vibration intensity in a minor degree only magnetorheological dampers are free from this defect, which they properties changing under influence an electric field functioning on ferromagnetic particles of oil suspension. A controlling coil current, which is mounted in the damper piston, could control density of magnetic field lines (magnetic field intensity) directly in viscous hole of piston, and hence viscous drag force. Electric energy needed to control magnetorheological damper is generally available in each of mobile heavy machines. Simulation tests were performed to investigate effectiveness and stability of the proposed solution and the results were deemed satisfactory. The system was found to be feasible and implementable with respect to every parameter. The purpose of this study was to develop a simulation model of the semi active suspensions of operator’s seat based on magnetorheological damper, and to examine the effectiveness of using different control strategies.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to present the new method for obtaining the semi-active suboptimal control strategy, used for the purpose of vibration reduction in mechanical systems. The method is dedicated to systems where vibrations are of a periodic type. Generally, many semi-active control strategies have been developed up to date, but it seems that none of them are applied directly to the problem of mechanical systems suffering from disadvantageous, periodical vibrations. Probably, the reason why there were no such attempts in the past is that the semi-active vibration damping methods most often were used in situations where systems experience a finite time transient excitation, like for example seismic activity. In a case of systems experiencing repeatable (periodic), steady-state vibrations, such as machines or vehicles working at their nominal conditions, the common approach was to use the passive methods rather than the semi-active ones. This situation is changing nowadays and attempts of using semi-active methods to attenuate the disadvantageous steady state vibrations in machines and vehicles are becoming more common and successful. Therefore, there has been observed a surge in developing of the general purpose methods for determination of the optimal control strategies for such applications. The described method aspires to be the one of possible alternatives.

Opis:
Given the importance of comfort and safety in various driving circumstances, the suspension system emerges as the most crucial component. Two different suspension systems, passive (PSS) and semi-active (SASS), are compared for effectiveness in this research. MATLAB/Simulink is used for simulation, employing a representative two-degree-of-freedom car model to evaluate and compare the performance results of these systems. The differential equations of motion for the two systems are modeled and simulated using software, which illuminates how they would behave under the same parameters and circumstances. Additionally, a Magnetorheological damper (MR) model with a ¼ vehicle system is used to evaluate its behavior on various types of roads, including those with steps, bumps, and random inputs. This study utilizes the Bingham plastic model to compare the simulation results of SASS and PSS systems. After comparing the numerical and graphical results from the two systems, it is observed that SASSs with controllers perform better than PSSs in terms of suspension adjustment and response time. The SASS is superior to the PSS in suppressing oscillations by 55.12%, 77.47%, and 86.78% for step input, bump, and random inputs, respectively. Additionally, the SASS is faster in eliminating oscillations compared to the PSS by 54% and 51.7% for step input and bump inputs, respectively.

Opis:
The nonlinear hysteresis characteristics of magnetorheological dampers lead to low fitting accuracy and poor practicality of their inverse models. Hence, to improve the accuracy of an inverse model generated with BP neural network, this research presents a novel optimization approach called Beluga Whale Optimization. The prediction accuracy of current is enhanced by the optimized inverse model. Under the enhanced inverse model, a variable universe fuzzy PID control is created. Based on the research outcomes, it has been shown that the introduction of control contributes to noteworthy improvements in the suspension performance metrics, both in terms of time and frequency domains.
