Opis:
Migrations of seniors in the 21st century accurately reflect the socio-demographic changes in developed countries. Their intensity increases in various parts of the world. In Europe, pensioners from the north move to the region of the Mediterranean Sea. Seniors from the United States and Canada are attracted to the countries of Central and South America. The goal of this study is to identify the trends in foreign migrations of seniors in selected countries of the world, with special regard to the migration of Polish pensioners. The study shows that contemporary seniors can afford to purchase property abroad and the driving forces for the migration movement include: warm climate, beautiful landscape, and a healthier and slower pace of living at the final destination. However, when it comes to Polish pensioners, the main reason for their migrations is their attempt to improve their economic conditions.

Opis:
The purpose of the review paper is to present the main aspects pointing at the need to treat seniors and pre-seniors as important buyers of tourist and recreational services. The article is divided into two parts. The first one indicates the basic conditions governing the recognition of the described consumers as a prospective segment of the tourism and recreation market. Also, it constitutes an attempt to clarify the terms of ‘senior’ and ‘pre-senior’. In the second part, selected data characterizing the tourist and recreational activity of seniors and pre-seniors in Poland are presented; here, the method of desk research was applied.

Opis:
Observation of reality shows that the attitude of today's society towards the elderly is very heterogenous and ambivalent. Both positive and negative attitudes can be observed. What is more, one can talk about attitudes of indifference and a certain social distance. The main goal of the research is to show how attitudes towards the elderly are shaped in our society and whether demographic variables such as gender, age, marital status, place of residence, or level of education differentiate these attitudes. Can we talk about the formation of certain patterns among the younger generation, which create the image of older people in adults? The sample consisted of 1,025 people. The Scale of Attitudes to- wards Seniors (SPWS) by Łukasiewicz and Kowalski was administered. The entire tool consisted of 60 items divided into three sca les: Respect and Support, Rejection and Misunderstanding, and Social Distance. In order to examine the attitudes of the respondents to their grandparents and their role in family life, seven self-authored statements were attached to the questionnaire. The analysis of the obtained results shows no significant differences between positive and negative attitudes towards seniors. All attitudes are at a moderate level. The factors differentiating the intensity of attitudes were: gender, marital status, place of residence, and education level. The indicator of the development of positive attitudes towards seniors was the time spent with grandparents in the past and positive opinions about grandparents provided by par- ents. Earlier intergenerational relations are of no significant importance when it came to the intensification of negative attitudes. The research confirmed the existence of heterogeneous attitudes towards seniors. However, there is no clear advantage of positive attitudes over the negative. The conclusions from the research point to the role of broadly understood education in shaping attitudes towards the elderly. In the age of an ageing society, activities that show the significance of older people for society, and what value they are for all of us, become important. The family and multi- generational relationships play a significant role here.

Senior age activity and memory mistakes and strategies
Aktywność w wieku senioralnym a błędy i strategie pamięciowe
Autorzy:
Sołga, Józefina
Opis:
Wraz z upływem lat obserwujemy obniżenie funkcjonowania poznawczego wśród seniorów. Zmiany te przebiegają jednak w sposób nieharmonijny i dotykają głównie wybranych aspektów pamięci (Jagodzinśka, 2008). Uzyskano odwrotne do założonych wyniki. Aktywni seniorzy popełniali więcej codziennych błędów pamięciowych niż nieaktywni seniorzy. Można przypuszczać, że osoby bardziej aktywne, mogą popełniać więcej codziennych błędów pamięciowych, ponieważ będą miały do tego więcej „okazji” niż nieaktywni seniorzy.
A decrease in cognitive function among seniors are observed over the years. These changes, however, take place in an unharmonious manner and affect mainly selected aspects of memory (Jagodzińska, 2008). Studies conducted with the participation of seniors indicate a beneficial influence of activity, especially cognitive one, on functioning in late adulthood (Pniewska i in., 2012). The aim of the study was to check whether active seniors differ in the number of memory errors they make from inactive seniors. Moreover, it was checked whether there are any differences in the frequency of application of memory suporting strategies on a daily basis. The study involved 60 seniors, icluding 30 active seniors (students of the Univeristy of the Third Age) and 30 inactive seniors. The study used such tools as the Short Scale of Cognitive Activity Assessment, Daily Memory Errors Diaries, the Questionnaire after running the diary, the Martin and Park Environmental Demands (MPED) Questionnaire and the Questionnaire of the memory strategy used. The results were opposite to expectations. Active seniors made more memory mistakes every day compared to inactive seniors. It can be speculated that more active people will make more memory mistakes every day, because they will have more „opportunities” to do.

Opis:
Despite the fact that the situation in our society is sufficiently legally treated, the issue of domestic violence at the senior is still only in its infancy. Intervention and prevention would not only avoided tampering with this group of people, but to offer procedures that would help at least reduce the risk. The paper is focused on the issue of violence on seniors as society-wide problem. It defines domestic violence, causes, forms and types of violence. In the end, it offers opportunities for protection and prevention.

Opis:
Changes in the structure of Polish society and the dynamic ageing process make seniors, as consumers, one of the most important groups on the market. The article presents seniors in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship as an interesting group that is increasingly eager to use all the market opportunities offered to them. Their activity in many fields is an excellent tool against social exclusion. The newly emerging community requires specialists related to marketing, promotion and advertising not only to notice them on the market, but also to adapt marketing activities to their needs, interests, possibilities and wealth. The aim of the article is to present this special group that requires the development of new, not stereotypical marketing activities. It can certainly be predicted that there will be a dynamic increase in the number of social services offered - care, health and rehabilitation, and of goods and other services dedicated to the elderly. The problem of senior policy is a huge research field for many specialists related to the silver economy sector.
