Opis:
This study presents a linear relationship between the impact sensitivity of nitroaromatic energetic compounds and their electric spark sensitivity. The methodology assumes that the impact sensitivity of a nitroaromatic energetic compound with the general formula CaHbNcOd can be expressed as a function of the electrostatic sensitivity, the number of NH2 group substitutions in the 2,4,6-trinitrophenyl ring and non-additive structural parameters. The root mean square and absolute standard deviation of a newly introduced correlation were respectively found to be 2.4 and 2.0 for 27 nitroaromatic energetic compounds. The proposed new correlation was also tested for 7 additional nitroaromatic energetic compounds, which have complex molecular structures such as 1-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)-5,7-dinitrobenzotriazole and 1,3,7,9-tetranitrophenoxazine.

Cost of capital rate is a result of risk included in cost of debt rates and cost of equity rates. Generally to estimate cost of capital rates with use of CAPM conception, is used information about general risk indicator, known as beta coefficient and relations between debt and equity rates. Such approach in unmodified version, falsely gives the similar results for enterprises from the same sector and with similar levels of debt to equity relations. In paper is presented risk sensitivity indicator conception which allows to differentiate cost of capital rate between more risk sensitive businesses and less sensitive businesses.

Opis:
We propose a novel approach to adaptive refinement in FEM based on local sensitivities for node insertion. To this end, we consider refinement as a continuous graph operation, for instance by splitting nodes along edges. Thereby, we introduce the concept of the topological mesh derivative for a given objective function. For its calculation, we rely on the first-order asymptotic expansion of the Galerkin solution of a symmetric linear second-order elliptic PDE. In this work, we apply this concept to the total potential energy, which is related to the approximation error in the energy norm. In fact, our approach yields local sensitivities for minimization of the energy error by refinement. Moreover, we prove that our indicator is equivalent to the classical explicit a posteriori error estimator in a certain sense. Numerical results suggest that our method leads to efficient and competitive adaptive refinement.

The subject matter of the article is in line with the humanistic perspective of management and deals with management as an area of knowledge, the teaching of management in academic centres, and management as a human activity. The aim is to find an answer to the question of whether there is still a place for humanistic management – that is – a management in which human values are at least as important as material ones, in a world in which measurable results count, in which goals determine the means of achieving them, and if so, what such management should be distinguished by. Following the idea contained in Emil Orzechowski’s paper Arte et Ratione, the author indicates that such management is possible, while at the same time broadening this concept with the element of sensitivity (sensibilitas), or more precisely, ethical sensitivity. After all, management without human sensitivity is a mere tool for making profits regardless of the cost.

Sensory processing sensitivity is a relatively new theoretical construct. Its main components include deeper processing of stimuli as well as a stronger response to environmental impacts, both positive and negative. The effect of misinformation, which involves the inclusion of misinformation in the witness's memory reports, can be modified by varied factors, including personality characteristics. To the knowledge of the authors, no such research has been conducted so far and thereby the aim of the following study was to examine the relationship between the sensory processing sensitivity and susceptibility to the misinformation effect. Group studies were carried out according to the three-stage scheme of investigating the misinformation effect. After the original material was presented, the participants were exposed to a post-event material, containing the misinformation in the experimental group. Then the memory of the original material was tested. A strong misinformation effect was shown. Highly sensitive people, achieving the highest results in the Highly Sensitive Person Scale, were more resistant to the misinformation effect.

Opis:
The paper is focused on application of sensitivity methods to analysis of signaling pathway models. Two basic methods are compared: local, based on standard sensitivity functions, and global, based on Sobol indices. Firstly, a general outline of modeling of signaling pathways by means of ordinary differential equations is briefly described. Afterwards, the methods of sensitivity analysis, known from literature, are introduced and illustrated with a simple example of a dynamical system of the second order. Subsequently, the analysis of the p53/Mdm2 regulatory module, which is a key element of any pathway involving p53 protein, is presented. The results of this analysis suggest that no single method should be chosen for investigation of any signaling pathway model but several of them should be applied to answer important questions about sources of heterogeneity in cells behavior, robustness of signaling pathways and possible molecular drug targets.
