Opis:
The paper presents the results of coal milling tests in the aspect of slurry fuel preparation. The tests were carried out with the use of vibrating mill with a working chamber of 47.5 dm3. The influence of milling time, amount and composition of grinding aids on the degree of fineness and particle size distribution have been investigated. It was found that the efficiency of the grinding process (in this type of milling device) depends primarily on the milling time and the share of grinding aids and – to a lesser extent – on their polydispersity. The study allows to conclude that the grinding time, composition and the share of used grinding aids enable to control the final grain size of coal, which has an impact on apparent viscosity of coal water slurry.

Opis:
Light cement slurries designed for sealing shallow boreholes, as well as hardened cement slurries derived from these slurries should meet the requirements of relevant standards. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in drilling work in the Carpathian Foreland and in the Carpathians where low density cement slurry is used. To design the recipe for such slurry, a lightweight filler is most often used to reduce the slurry density. However, the presence of such a filler in the structure of both liquid and hardened cement slurry results in problems in obtaining the required technological parameters of the slurry. Therefore, research is necessary. For testing fresh cement slurry, devices such as pressure consistometers, filter presses, and viscometers are used. However, the structure of the resulting hardened slurries is analyzed using the following devices: mercury porosimeter, ultrasonic cement analyzer, strength testing machine. The research carried out on cement slurries is aimed at developing a group of recipes for sealing columns of casing pipes in boreholes in a given geological area. However, it is equally important to perform an analysis of technological parameters for slurries used so far in the perspective area. Based on the results obtained and the interpretation of slurry compositions, it is possible to introduce such modifications that will result in improved parameters in newly developed or modified slurries. The article discusses the technological parameters of lightweight cement slurries used for sealing shallow boreholes in the temperature range up to 45°C. For the purposes of the article, five cement slurry recipes were selected, which were used in the Carpathian region in boreholes with a depth of 1000 m to 1500 m. The temperature prevailing in these boreholes at specific depths ranged from 35°C to 45°C, and pressures ranged from 7 to 15 MPa. The slurry recipes were made in accordance with the cementing design. Then, technological parameters were tested for both fresh slurries and samples obtained after slurry binding. An analysis of technological parameters was carried out for a selected group of slurries used for sealing shallow boreholes at temperatures up to 45°C. This analysis allows for further work to be carried out to modify the slurries used currently or to design new recipes for sealing columns of casing pipes in shallow boreholes.

Opis:
Lightweight cement slurry are most often used to seal columns of casing pipes set in weakly compact geological formations and loose layers. By using this cement slurry the hydrostatic pressure can be lowered, so that the slurry does not fracture the delicate structure of the borehole wall. Lowering the slurry density is possible by introducing light fill-up additives. Microspheres are the most commonly used light fillers. However, the use of this additive causes a change in rheological parameters, which has an impact on the transferability of the designed cement slurry. In order to obtain adequate cement slurry filling of the annular space, its rheological parameters should be designed in such a way so as to obtain adequate displacement of the mud from the hole and the best possible filling of the caved wall of the borehole. To this end, it is necessary to lower the rheological parameters of the cement slurry. However, low values of the plastic viscosity and the flow limit may result in excessive fractionation of the slurry containing the addition of microspheres, as a result of which both the cement slurry and the cement sheath resulting from it will not show adequate homogeneity. Therefore, in order to properly design the lightweight slurry recipe, whose density is regulated by the addition of microspheres, one must first determine the change in the value of rheological parameters under the influence of the addition of microspheres, which was discussed in this article. The publication presents the results of works on the change of rheological parameters of latex cement slurry under the influence of increasing number of microspheres. Six slurries were designed, of which three recipes were reference points, and the next three were modified with 40% of the microspheres. The base cement slurries contained 5% microspheres in relation to the mass of cement, and the newly developed recipes on the basis of which the effect of the addition of microspheres was investigated contained 40% aluminosilicate microspheres. The designed slurries were intended for well conditions with a temperature range from 30°C to 70°C and corresponding reservoir pressures in the range from 5 MPa to 20 MPa. During the research, the focus was on the impact of the addition of microspheres on the rheological parameters of lightweight cement slurry, because this addition is the most commonly used filling material, and the results obtained can be helpful when designing, new, reduced density cement slurry recipes.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of an experiment investigating the tribocorrosion of C45 steel samples which were chromosiliconized by the powder-pack method. The technological process was carried out at 1000oC for 6 hours. The layer was produced with the use of ferrochromium powder combined with SiC, kaolin and ammonium chloride. Analytical samples were placed in boxes containing the powder mix, and the boxes were sealed with vitreous enamel. The frictional resistance of a chromosiliconized layer was investigated under exposure to a corrosive medium of sugar slurry. Corrosion damage was examined with the use of a three-cylinder and cone wear tester. The structure of the analyzed layers was evaluated by light and scanning microscopy, X-ray diffraction and glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy (GDOES). The thickness, surface roughness and hardness of samples were determined. Chromosiliconizing of C45 steel samples extended the life of friction elements in a sugar slurry environment.

Opis:
The problem of eliminating natural gas microflows through the cement slurry while bonding has been investigated by scientists in a number of scientific and research centers. Works have been undertaken to define the causes of gas migration and predict possibilities of interchannel communication in the hardened cement slurry. In the course of bonding cement slurry changes its state from liquid through gel to solid. Accordingly, the gas migration effects should be taken into account in the formation of these phases. The results of tests of gas migration in the course of binding and building structural strength have been presented in this paper. Both research methods have been compared and a high dependence of parameters defined by each of them has been found. The research works were conducted with the use of innovative apparatuses thanks to which the phenomena taking place in the course of binding can be observed. This gives the possibility of working out recipes of sealing slurries applicable to deposits where the risk of occurrence of gas migration is high.

Opis:
Borehole heat exchangers (BHE) are made as hydraulic systems consolidated by cement slurry in boreholes. They mediate in heat exchange between the receiver on the surface (heat pump), and the reservoir of thermal energy (rock mass). In the analytical description of temperature changes accompanying energy download and return to the rock mass, the temperature of the entire borehole heat exchanger is assumed to be the same. In fact, the exchanger temperature changes both in the vertical and horizontal cross-sectional view of the exchanger. Accordingly, the temperature of the interface of the hardened cement slurry and the rock mass differs from the one which was adopted for design calculations. The article shows the differences between the theoretical and actual state, when the temperature was measured with a thermal imaging camera. It also includes suggestions regarding the mathematical description of temperature changes on the side surface of the heat exchanger. Measurements were made by a model of a BHE equipped with a single U-tube.

Opis:
The paper deals with solid-liquid limestone slurry with a high solids concentration, which appears widely in a mining and civil engineering industries. Experiments performed in the paper deal with influence of solids concentration on the shear stress. Solids concentration various from 20% wt. to 35% wt. which is most suitable to industry. The main objective of the paper is to determine the flow curves for high solids concentration of slurry at limestone factory and to fit the proper rheological model. The paper proves that most suitable model which fits measured dependence of shear rate on the shear stress is the Herschel-Bulkley rheological model. The exponential increase of shear stress and plastic viscosity with increasing the solids concentration is demonstrated for high solids concentration of limestone slurry.

Opis:
The effect of cement slurry modification on the microstructure of the annular space in a wellbore is presented in this paper. An admixture of macromolecular copolymer GS was used, which is usually applied in cement slurry technology to counteract gas migration by the binding cement slurry. The copolymer addition also results in sealing up the cement matrix at the stage of the binding and formation of hardened cement slurry. The modification of a slurry composition with this admixture results in the fact that the cement matrix has low porosity and is strongly compact. Consequently, a significantly higher number of micropores with small diameters are formed than those with larger micropores in the analyzed hardened cement slurry sample. An admixture of a macromolecular copolymer (7 wt.% of the cement) was added and 10% of the latex was removed from the recipe to show the influence of the modified recipe on the microstructure of the cement sheath. Thanks to this modification, the microcement participation could be reduced by 50% with the simultaneously improved quality of the most important technological parameters of fresh and hardened cement slurry. The basic and modified recipes were analyzed. The following parameters of the slurry were determined: rheology, filtration, water settlement, and time of densification. The influence of the modified slurry on the parameters describing the microstructure of the hardened slurry was analyzed for the hardened slurry (i.e., porosimetric porosity and microtomographic porosity). The microstructure of a sample fracture was also investigated. The analyses were conducted for recipes of slurries to be used for sealing wells at a temperature of 40°C and pressure of 10 MPa.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to present the influence of selected deflocculants on decreasing the hydromixture viscosity and as a consequence decreasing the wall shear stresses in a flowing medium. Adding deflocculants to improve the conditions encountered in a pipeline during the hydromixture flow is called chemical processing. The experimental studies presented in the article were performed for a hydromixture with a mass concentration of 20% and 43% consisting mostly of solids with the averaged diameter equal to 45.5μm. The measurements were performed for varied doses of deflocculants in three proportions in a wide range of shear rates. The results of experiments have confirmed that the influence of the deflocculant on the wall shear stress is complex as there is an opposing phenomenon strongly depending on the doses of deflocculant samples. The results of the experiments are discussed and major conclusions are drawn.
