RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this article is to call the attention to specific social behaviors that have been generated by the indiscriminate use of the technologies. We want to make evident that those behaviors cause a detriment of the communication between the members of the Mexican families, causing in consequence that minors are being neglected by parents and the lack of adequate parental control in the face of the risks associated with the use of certain technologies. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The presented study involves the relation between people’s behaviors related to their access to certain technologies face to the concept of family and its importance in the society for an interconnected world. We make an in-depth study of the academic and informative literature which deals with the phenomena called phubbing. We refer to varied research, both technical and empirical and applied the inductive method and critical analysis, taking into consideration previous official, as well as non-official, researches that demonstrate phubbing adverse effects in communication between Mexican family’s members. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: In the first part of the research we defined the concept of family in Mexican Law and how the political agenda proposes the use of technologies in order to have a greater development of the society that can turn in better opportunities and conditions of life of the individuals in general and families in particular. In a second part we refer the specific Internet penetration in Mexico as a consequence of the above mentioned agenda. Finally, in a third part, we analyze the phenomena called phubbing and its impact in Mexican Families that is the essential part of our argumentation. RESEARCH RESULTS: The result of this argumentation ends to some advices that deal with better practices in the usage of technologies in order to prevent adverse effects in Mexican families without renouncing to the incorporation of technologies in our daily life routines. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Even though the consequences of phubbing in our society are evident, we cannot yet accurately count its effects. There are data regarding the time that parents spend with their children compared to the average time they spend using applications, video games, e-mail, social networks, and media in general. The disorganization in the time we spend in leisure, work and family life turns evident. This situation invites us to reflect about the role technologies play in relation to our family integration or disintegration. Hyper-connectivity has generated adverse conditions for individuals, both physical and psychological, that result in an affection towards the fundamental pillar of our society that is the family. It is noted that the Mexican government needs to face the growing wave of phubbing, by informing its society about the risks of the abuse of the use of technologies in one hand, and to promote programs to invite people to a more conscious access to social networks by best practices of the other. Only in that way we can grant the principle of freedom and family autonomy in Mexico. Otherwise, how can we refer to a family autonomy if its members that make up the core of society have stopped communicating?

Opis:
Although the majority of people value the idea of helping others, they often take no particular action. In two field studies we investigated the impact of differently justified requests for spontaneous charity donations and for antisocial behavior like stealing. In the experiments, unwatched stands with cookies and money jars were placed on a crowded city square with one of three different notes: (1) detailed prosocial justification, (2) general justification or (3) no justification. After testing almost 500 participants, we show that mere general arguments can both increase prosocial behavior and decrease antisocial behavior. Additionally, detailed prosocial justification augments generosity, causing people voluntarily to pay more than required. We conclude that prosocial (compliance with request) and antisocial (stealing) behavior is guided by automatic processes that track that there is any reason for the request, while generosity is guided by reflective assessment of the justification of the request.

Opis:
The aim of the study is to analyze motivation for undertaking activities to help others by people involved in various forms of volunteer work. We analyzed two sources of motivation: moral endo‒exocentrism and the value system among three groups: hospice, missionary and sports volunteers. The study involved 173 people between 16 to 77 years of age, 59 giving service in a hospice, 63 in missionary activities and 51 as sports volunteers. We applied the Moral Endo-Exocentrism Questionnaire (MEEQ) by Karyłowski, Górski and Wasiak and the Portraits Questionnaire (PVQ) by Schwartz. The study showed higher levels of exocentric than endocentric motivation among the three groups of volunteers. However, the intergroup value preference comparison revealed 7 values which significantly differentiated hospice, missionary and sports volunteers: Tradition, Hedonism, Success, Power, Self-Directing, Stimulation and Universalism.

Opis:
The article contains an in-depth qualitative analysis of 60 biographies of juvenile offenders in terms of the institutional (in)effectiveness of counteracting crime in the period before being placed in a closed facility. The analysis of the data shows that placement in a correctional facility is preceded by the application of many educational measures from supervision order to the decision to place a minor in an educational facility. Based on the collected data, it is possible to find a bad way of exercising parental care over the delinquents, and especially the ineffectiveness of the reactions undertaken by state institutions - remedial actions – including the family court.

Opis:
Social behavior is naturally occurring in vertebrate species, which holds a strong evolutionary component and is crucial for the normal development and survival of individuals throughout life. Behavioral neuroscience has seen different influential methods for social behavioral phenotyping. The ethological research approach has extensively investigated social behavior in natural habitats, while the comparative psychology approach was developed utilizing standardized and univariate social behavioral tests. The development of advanced and precise tracking tools, together with post-tracking analysis packages, has recently enabled a novel behavioral phenotyping method, that includes the strengths of both approaches. The implementation of such methods will be beneficial for fundamental social behavioral research but will also enable an increased understanding of the influences of many different factors that can influence social behavior, such as stress exposure. Furthermore, future research will increase the number of data modalities, such as sensory, physiological, and neuronal activity data, and will thereby significantly enhance our understanding of the biological basis of social behavior and guide intervention strategies for behavioral abnormalities in psychiatric disorders.

Opis:
The paper presents research findings concerning desired parental activities for peer violence prevention. An instrument was created for the purpose of this research, and study sample comprised 480 participants, including 170 parents, 94 teachers and 206 students. Activities perceived as more important were open communication and greater control of children’s behavior, while parents’ participation in school was assessed as less important. The “School without violence” program was recognized as a significant resource for empowering family activities in peer violence prevention. This implies that it is important to implement family support programs and to develop parents’ skills.

The article provides an introduction to the alternative local currency system, known as PULA, being developed in Gdansk. The alternative currency system is a multilateral agreement that uses a medium of exchange other than traditional national money, aiming to link unmet needs with unused resources. Alternative currencies support local development, the economy and strengthen mutual recognition and relational trust, with the main goal of better meeting social needs and creating links between economic activity and social bases. The article describes the partnership-building process in Gdansk, which included the identification of local stakeholders such as the public, private and non-governmental sectors. The process of building partnerships and collaborations can serve as a model for creating similar social innovation initiatives that require multi-stakeholder involvement from different.
