Opis:: Peryferyjna lokalizacja ośrodka funkcjonalnego Szczecina w skali kraju wymaga realizacji rozwiązań na rzecz spójności w układzie synergicznych powiązań z potencjalnymi ośrodkami wzrostu kształtujących się krajowych obszarów metropolitalnych w układzie horyzontalnym oraz wertykalnym. Potrzeba bardziej ścisłej współpracy w ramach Euroregionu, dalszy aktywny udział w programach i projektach międzynarodowych warunkuje realną możliwość kształtowania stolicy regionu transgranicznego. Wzmocnienie struktur endogenicznych w obszarze transgranicznym obu państw jest priorytetowe, lecz wymaga również synchronicznego tworzenia sieci powiązań w relacjach transgranicznych dla wykorzystania ich możliwości w kształtowaniu regionalnej integracji przestrzennoosadniczej i gospodarczej.
The peripheral location of the functional center of Szczecin in the country requires the implementation of solutions for coherence in the system synergistic relationships with potential growth centers emerging national metropolitan areas in the horizontal and vertical system. The need for more close cooperation in the framework of the Euroregion, further active participation in international programs and projects determines the real possibility of formation the capital of transboundary metropolitan region. Enhancement of the endogenous transponder area of both countries constitutes a priority, but also requires synchronous networking connections in cross-border relations for their use in shaping the regional spatial - settlement structural and economic integration.

Opis:: The computing performance optimization of the Short-Lag Spatial Coherence (SLSC) method applied to ultrasound data processing is presented. The method is based on the theory that signals from adjacent receivers are correlated, drawing on a simplified conclusion of the van Cittert-Zernike theorem. It has been proven that it can be successfully used in ultrasound data reconstruction with despeckling. Former works have shown that the SLSC method in its original form has two main drawbacks: time-consuming processing and low contrast in the area near the transceivers. In this study, we introduce a method that allows to overcome both of these drawbacks. The presented approach removes the dependency on distance (the “lag” parameter value) between signals used to calculate correlations. The approach has been tested by comparing results obtained with the original SLSC algorithm on data acquired from tissue phantoms. The modified method proposed here leads to constant complexity, thus execution time is independent of the lag parameter value, instead of the linear complexity. The presented approach increases computation speed over 10 times in comparison to the base SLSC algorithm for a typical lag parameter value. The approach also improves the output image quality in shallow areas and does not decrease quality in deeper areas.

Opis:: W pracy zaprezentowano metodę oceny poziomu spójności architektonicznej na terenie wsi Wierzenica w powiecie poznańskim. Jej celem jest wyznaczenie, a następnie waloryzacja elementów form architektonicznych mających wpływ na kształtowanie spójnej architektury. Działania te mają pozwolić na ocenę stanu architektury na analizowanych obszarach, a w konsekwencji przyczynić się do podniesienia poziomu ładu przestrzennego. Wyniki badania pokazały zmianę poziomu spójności przestrzennej w poszczególnych okresach badawczych we wsi Wierzenica. Zastosowana metoda badawcza umożliwiła sprawdzenie, czy dany obszar jest spójny pod względem architektonicznym, a także czy grupa obiektów na danym obszarze przyczynia się do wzrostu czy spadku poziomu spójności. Szczególną zaletą badania jest wskazanie cech, które przeważają na analizowanym terenie, oraz tych, które należałoby wprowadzić do architektury współczesnych budynków, aby podnieść lub w razie potrzeby obniżyć poziom spójności przestrzennej.
This paper presents a method for assessing the level of architectural coherence in the village of Wierzenica in the poviat of Poznan. Its aim is to determine and then evaluate the elements of architectural forms that influence the creation of coherent architecture. These actions should allow to assess the condition of architecture in the analysed areas and, consequently, contribute to raising the level of the spatial order The results of the study show the change in the level of spatial coherence over the different periods in Wierzenica. The applied research method made it possible to check whether a given area is architecturally coherent and also whether a group of buildings in a given area contributes to increasing or decreasing the level of coherence. A particular advantage of the study is that it identifies the features that prevail in the analysed area and those that should be introduced into the architecture of contemporary buildings in order to increase or, if necessary, decrease the level of spatial cohesion.

Opis:: The term spatial coherence is often used in academic articles related to architecture and urban planning, as well as literature of these branches. After all, in the spatial approach, this term has a very broad meaning that goes far beyond the mentioned fields. It can be found, among others in works on interior architecture, exhibition and design. The term coherence used in publications is often associated with the perception of high-quality space, or even spatial order, where it is usually described as one of the features distinguishing this phenomenon. Even so, there are no publications that would pay more attention to it. This article explores the history of the term spatial coherence, beginning with ancient works to contemporary books and articles. The key purpose here is to answer questions such as: What has been the perception of coherence in architectural treatises and academic articles related to this topic over the centuries, and how is it understood today? In this article the author also poses the question whether the concept of coherence has remained unchanged over time, or if it has evolved by following changes in the "trends", preferences of designers and recipients, or as a consequence of technological development giving new design opportunities. With this, the article offers a new perspective on the fascinating process of the development of design arts, especially architecture and urban planning.
Spójność przestrzenna jest pojęciem często używanym w artykułach naukowych z dziedziny architektura i urbanistyka, a także w literaturze branżowej. W ujęciu przestrzennym ten termin ma zresztą bardzo szerokie znaczenie, wychodzące daleko poza wymienione dziedziny sztuki. Jest stosowany m.in. w pracach dotyczących architektury wnętrz, wystawiennictwa i designu. Używanie w publikacjach pojęcia koherencji jest często związane z odczuwaniem wysokiej jakości przestrzeni czy wręcz ładu przestrzennego i wtedy opisuje się ją zwykle jako jedną z cech wyróżniających ten fenomen. Mimo to brakuje publikacji, które poświęcałyby większą uwagę temu zjawisku. Niniejszy artykuł bada historię pojęcia spójności przestrzennej, począwszy od dzieł starożytnych, a skończywszy na współczesnych książkach i artykułach. Jego głównym celem jest odpowiedź na pytania, jak postrzegana była spójność w traktatach architektonicznych i artykułach naukowych związanych z tą tematyką na przestrzeni wieków, a także jak jest pojmowana współcześnie. Autor stawia także pytanie, czy pojęcie spójności było niezmienne w czasie, czy ewoluowało, podążając za zmianami mód, preferencji projektantów i odbiorców albo jako konsekwencja rozwoju technologicznego dającego nowe możliwości projektowe? Dzięki temu artykuł pokazuje z nowej perspektywy fascynujący proces, jakim jest rozwój sztuk projektowych, a w szczególności architektury i urbanistyki.

Functional and spatial coherence of the city of Leverkusen

Opis:: The main aim of this study was to investigate the functional and spatial structure of Leverkusen city in the context of its consistency. The research was based on the field mapping, as a result of which the maps showing spot distribution of different types of business activities were created. Particular attention was paid to the services and the distribution of its various types in the urban space was analyzed. Leverkusen is to a large degree a coherent city and its districts do not show any visual autonomy, apart from the selected aspects of the peripheral districts. Functional and spatial structure is generally coherent, both in terms of its functionality, physiognomy and communication accessibility. The city is distinguished by the presence of two major centers, revealed in their functionality, which is also perceived by the inhabitants. Moreover, the districts have their own local centers associated with the service offer. The nearest prospects of the city development point to the maintenance of functional and spatial coherence, while duality is going to be emphasized in the form of a second center development.
Głównym celem pracy było zbadanie struktury funkcjonalno-przestrzennej miasta Leverkusen w kontekście jej spójności. Badania oparto na kartowaniu terenowym, w wyniku czego stworzono mapy zawierające rozkład punktowy poszczególnych rodzajów działalności gospodarczej. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono usługom i przeanalizowano rozkład poszczególnych ich rodzajów w przestrzeni miasta. Leverkusen jest w dużym stopniu miastem spójnym, a jego dzielnice nie wykazują większej odrębności, poza wybranymi aspektami w dzielnicach peryferyjnych. Struktura funkcjonalno-przestrzenna jest generalnie spójna, zarówno pod względem funkcjonalnym, jak również fizjonomicznym i komunikacyjnym. Miasto wyróżnia się występowaniem dwóch głównych centrów, co przejawia się w aspekcie funkcjonalnym i jest dostrzegalne przez miejscową ludność. Ponadto dzielnice posiadają własne centra lokalne związane z ofertą usługową. Najbliższe perspektywy rozwoju miasta wskazują na zachowanie spójności funkcjonalno-przestrzennej, przy jednoczesnym wzmożeniu dualizmu w postaci rozwoju drugiego centrum.

Opis:: The article deals with three main issues: the understanding of curriculum in context, the ability of contextualisation, and retention of knowledge in long-term memory. The paper first suggests principles based on the coherence model of instruction, which aims to achieve coherence of knowledge of isolated facts through a network of semantic relationships. Then, the theoretical basis of the model is described, including spatial learning strategies, cooperative learning, and excursions in an authentic environment supported by mobile devices. A methodology of teaching was designed according to the principles of the coherence model, and a virtual guide through educational exhibitions was developed. The virtual guide was tested with students of a primary school during an experimental lecture in the Ostrava Zoo. An evaluation of the coherence model and the virtual guide was carried out using three methods: an observation of students’ behaviour and learning during the experimental lecture, a pedagogical experiment, and an evaluation of questionnaires. The results of the evaluation proved that the coherence model of instruction has a positive impact on understanding in context, ability of contextualisation, and retention of the curriculum in long-term memory.
