Opis:: In recent years, the speech-language pathology has developed dynamically. It plays a growing role not only in the area of education but also in the field of medicine. Teaching correct articulation is just one of possible challenges faced by speechlanguage pathologists. The multidisciplinary context of that field of knowledge can be seen in various subfields of speech-language pathology which have evolved over time. Therefore, the primary objective of the conducted research was to assess the awareness of the importance of speech-language pathologists in everyday life of children and adults. The research was carried out among 50 respondents in the city of Poznań and provided the ground for discussion on the subject being the core issue of the presented paper.

Opis:: Father Stanisław Wilczewski Ph.D. became famous as a splendid speech therapist, working theoretically and practically for the sake of the culture of the living word and as an esteemed preacher. This paper aims at presentation of his activities that give testimony to his attention to the quality of the preached words and preaching in general. Wilczewski taught future priests a hygiene of voice, which should be communicative with an internal involvement and the experience of the preaching the Word of God and the preaching action. He was one of the most outstanding preachers in the history of the diocese of Katowice.

Opis:: The article begins the description of the history of a mirror: its origin, creation and use. Then the characteristics of the mirror as a typical element of the speech therapy room equipment were made. The article discusses the issue of its use in the opinion of speech therapists. Speech disorders specialists note that it should be used first of all for people with articulation disorders and less for people with mutism.

Opis:: The article is an attempt to look at a few selected volumes for a child’s addressee, which allows to indicate the aspects of evaluation to the buyers of such editions, and to the publishers to forecast the accuracy of composing such publications. The editorial reading was based on volumes of poems by Jerzy Ficowski, Elżbieta and Witold Szwajkowski, Marcin Brykczyński and Agnieszka Frączek in the context of speech therapy exercises. This editorial reading, also colloquially understood as “reading activity”, focused on the following phenomena: – bold, – italics, – highlighting with colour, – placing the text on a coloured background, – moving the information about the practised phonic sounds onto the margin, – placing the information about the practised phonic sounds and the age of the child in a live page, – font selection (serif/sans-serif), – change of the letter depending on the recipient of a given paragraph, etc. The observations concern the power of the educational (speech therapy) influence of the editorial aterial or the materiality of the book in the meaning of Roland Reuß. One can also try to say that this series of distinctions facilitates working with the text both for the speech therapist and the child. However, one should pay attention to the entire editorial and child-perspective of such editions. Not only the way of distinction itself is important, but the correspondingly clear contrasts between the used colours, writing degrees, spacing, etc. are preserved, remembering the fun and educational function of the type of publication for the child as a recipient, especially with speech therapy deficits.

The profession of a speech therapist and its social image in the opinion of practicing speech therapists and students of speech therapy

Opis:: Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej było poznanie opinii logopedów praktyków oraz studentów logopedii na temat zawodu logopedy i jego społecznego wizerunku.Część teoretyczna pracy koncentruje się na zagadnieniach związanych z zawodem logopedy. Druga, a tym samym, empiryczna część prezentuje cel, problemy badawcze, opis metodologii oraz organizację procesu badawczego. Sformułowane pytania badawcze pozwoliły sprecyzować zakres poruszanej problematyki i dotyczyły przede wszystkim: motywacji do podjęcia studiów logopedycznych, preferencji względem terapii konkretnych zaburzeń komunikacji językowej, poglądów na temat kompetencji istotnych w pracy logopedy, wad i zalet tego zawodu, współpracy z innymi specjalistami oraz tego jak według badanych ogół społeczeństwa postrzega role i zadania terapeuty mowy. W celu zgromadzenia danych posłużono się metodą sondażu diagnostycznego z wykorzystaniem narzędzia badawczego w postaci dwóch kwestionariuszy, które zostały rozesłane drogą elektroniczną. Tak zebrane dane poddane zostały szczegółowej analizie i interpretacji, na podstawie których sformułowano szereg wniosków oraz zaproponowano przykładowe działania, mające na celu zwiększenie satysfakcji zawodowej logopedów oraz podniesienie świadomości społeczeństwa w kontekście poruszanego zagadnienia.
The aim of this master's thesis was to investigate the opinions of practicing speech therapists and speech therapists students about the speech therapist profession and its social image.The theoretical part focuses on issues related to the profession of a speech therapist. The second, empirical part presents the purpose of the thesis, research problems, methodology and description of the research process.Research questions that were raised allowed specifying the scope of the issues presented in the thesis and were related to: motivation for applying for speech therapy related studies, preferences for the therapy of specific language communication disorders, views on necessary competences needed in the work of speech therapists, pros and cons of the speech therapist profession, cooperating with other specialists and how the society perceives the role and tasks of the speech therapist. In order to collect data a diagnostic survey was chosen as the method and the questionnaire as a research instrument. Data gathered that way was then analysed and interpretated which allowed to formulate several conclusions along with a proposal of example actions that could help to increase the work satisfaction of speech therapists and increase the social awareness about the speech therapists role.

Opis:: Pandemia COVID-19 to czas, który zmienił funkcjonowanie większości zawodów. Logopedzi to jedna z grup, których praca została w szczególnym stopniu utrudniona. Podczas pracy logopeda powinien mieć widoczne usta – wymóg ten jest związany z koniecznością prezentowania pacjentom prawidłowego układu warg i języka, co jest niemożliwe z maseczką ochronną. Natomiast brak maseczki sprawia, że gwałtownie wzrasta ryzyko zarażenia. W trakcie terapii powinny być widoczne również usta pacjenta, by umożliwić logopedzie korektę nieprawidłowej artykulacji. Założeniem omawianego w tekście badania było sprawdzenie, czy logopedzi podejmowali pracę bezpośrednią podczas izolacji, a jeżeli tak, to w jaki sposób zabezpieczali się przed zagrożeniem. Pytano również o to, jakie zmiany zauważyli u siebie (np. spadek motywacji, złe samopoczucie), a jakie u swoich pacjentów (postępy w terapii, kondycja psychiczna, motywacja do ćwiczeń). Zastanawiano się również nad tym, czy podejmowali się pracy online i jak ją oceniali, pamiętając, że elementem terapii logopedycznej jest również manualne wywoływanie głosek (np. za pomocą szpatułki bądź wibratora logopedycznego), masaż, ale też budowanie relacji z pacjentem, na przykład podczas gier i zabaw logopedycznych. Zawód logopedy charakteryzuje się bliską relacją z uczestnikiem terapii, zarówno dzieckiem, jak i z dorosłym, co może jednak zwiększać ryzyko zarażenia się i wpływać na komfort pracy.
The global COVID-19 pandemic has changed the functioning of most professions. Speech therapists are one of the groups whose work has been significantly hindered. At work, the speech therapist is ought to have his mouth visible to demonstrate the correct placement of the lips and tongue to the patients – which is impossible with a protective mask on. The lack of a mask, in turn, increases the risk of infection dramatically. The patient’s mouth should also be visible to allow the therapist to correct any articulation errors. In the research presented in the text, the author decided to check whether speech therapists have undertaken any direct work with their patients during confinement, and if so, what protective measures they have implemented. During the interview speech therapists were also asked if they have noticed any changes in their frame of mind (e.g. decreased motivation, malaise) and, if they had already returned to work, if they have observed any changes in their patients behaviour (progress in therapy, mental condition, motivation). The aim of the research was also giving an answer to the question, if they had undertaken online work and how they have assessed it, bearing in mind that tactile therapy (e.g. using a spatula or speech therapy vibration tools), therapeutic speech massage and forming a relationship with the patient, e.g. during speech therapy games, are essential elements of speech therapy. The profession of a speech therapist is characterized by a close relationship with the patient, both children and adults, which, during the pandemic, may increase the risk of infection and might affect the overall comfort of work.

Opis:: Due to the lack of a statutory definition and due to the interdisciplinary nature of the profes¬sion of a speech therapist, there have been doubts regarding its classification as a medical or paramedical profession. The above is, in fact, of crucial significance from the point of view of tax provisions, since medical care services provided by medical or paramedical facilities, on the condition of fulfilling specific requirements, can enjoy VAT exemption. Unfortunately, there is no definition of medical care in the EU and domestic law, and the requirements nec- essary to exempt a given service from the discussed tax have not been sufficiently specified. This publication, using a dogmatic method, by hitherto not conducted in literature analysis, was aimed at answering the question of whether medical care services provided by speech therapists are exempt from value added tax. Having achieved the aforementioned objective, the paper explicitly indicates that a speech therapist is a medical profession pursuant to the tax law provisions. The paper also leads to the conclusion that, in principle, medical care services provided by speech therapists are subject to exemption from VAT.

Opis:: The main goal of this study is to draw attention to inadequate beliefs or insufficient knowledge regarding speech therapy and the speech therapist profession. An analysis of variables that may affect the quality of the information held was also undertaken. The collected data can be used as a tool to promote knowledge about speech therapy among groups requiring support in this area.The work consists of 2 main parts. The theoretical part contains a description of speech therapy, what this discipline of science deals with, what disorders are the scope of the speech therapist's interest in relation to various departments, specializations, or sub-disciplines. The topic of cooperation between speech therapists and other specialists was also discussed, as well as regulations and requirements for future specialists.The second part of the thesis contains a study for which the diagnostic survey method was used. The technique used is an interview, while the research tool used to carry out the research is the interview questionnaire. The group of respondents was tested in terms of the presented knowledge and then divided according to sex, age, education, place of residence and possible contact with a speech therapist. The obtained data made it possible to determine the general level of knowledge of the respondents as well as groups that had an insufficient amount of information.
Celem głównym niniejszej pracy jest zwrócenie uwagi na nieadekwatne przekonania lub zbyt małą wiedzę odnoszącą się do logopedii oraz zawodu logopedy. Podjęta została również analiza zmiennych, mogących oddziaływać na jakość posiadanych informacji. Zebrane dane mogą posłużyć jako narzędzie do promowania wiedzy na temat logopedii, wśród grup wymagających udzielenia wsparcia w tym zakresie.Praca składa się z 2 zasadniczych części. Część teoretyczna zawiera opis logopedii, tego czym zajmuje się ta dyscyplina nauki, jakie zaburzenia stanowią zakres zainteresowania logopedy w odniesieniu do różnych działów, specjalizacji czy subdyscyplin. Podjęty został również temat współpracy logopedów z innymi specjalistami, a także regulacji i wymagań stawianych przyszłym specjalistom.Druga część pracy zawiera badanie, do przeprowadzenia którego została wykorzystana metoda sondażu diagnostycznego. Stosowaną techniką jest wywiad, natomiast narzędziem badawczym, jakie zostało wykorzystane do zrealizowania badań, jest kwestionariusz wywiadu. Grupa respondentów została przebadana pod kątem prezentowanej wiedzy, a następnie podzielona ze względu na płeć, wiek, wykształcenie, miejsce zamieszkania oraz możliwy kontakt z logopedą. Uzyskane dane pozwoliły na określenie ogólnego poziomu wiedzy badanych osób, a także grup, które posiadały niewystarczający zasób informacji.
