Opis:
The conditions for identification and quantification of Se(IV), Cd(II) and Pb(II) ions in homeopathic drugs by inversion voltammetry method with the use of EAGRAPH software were established. The studies proved that the method was of high sensitivity in established conditions. The detection limits were 0.66 μg/mL, 0.08 μg/mL and 0.12 μg/mL for Se(IV), Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions, respectively. This method was characterized by repeatability of measurements, a wide range of linearity and satisfactory percent recovery.

Opis:
This article aims to investigate in detail to what extent surfactants affect the determination of cadmium by anodic stripping voltammetry. In recent years, the production and use of surfactants have been steadily increasing, so that their concentration in environmental water samples is rising. At the same time, it is known that organic compounds, such as surfactants, often hinder the voltammetric determination of trace elements by stripping. Non-ionic (Triton X-100, Brij 35, Tween 20, Tween 60, Tween 80), cationic (CTAB, CTAC, DTAB, HPC) and anionic (DSS, SDS) compounds were selected to investigate the effect of surfactants on the voltammetric signal of cadmium. At the same time, the extent to which the addition of Amberlite resins to the analysed solution eliminates the interfering effect of surfactants was tested. Three types of Amberlite resins XAD-2, XAD-7 and XAD-16 were selected for the study and the ratio of resin weight to solution volume was determined. Finally, the determination of cadmium in surfactant-enriched environmental samples was carried out. The recoveries obtained between 95.5 and 107%, with RSD between 3.4 and 6.2%, confirm the validity and correctness of the proposed procedure All measurements were carried out by anodic stripping voltammetry using a CNTs/SGC electrode modified with a bismuth film as the working electrode.

Opis:
The purpose of this work was to determinate the amount of titanium in different environmental water samples spiked with crop biostimulant Tytanit. The measurements were conducted using adsorptive stripping voltammetry (AdSV). The titanium complex with chloranilic acid was accumulated on mercury film silver based electrode (Hg(Ag)FE) at the potential -0.3 V. The analysis of natural water samples enriched with Tytanit, collected in the eastern part ofPolandconfirms that this procedure is fast and essential for the determination of titanium in environmental water samples.

Opis:
Caries is the most popular problem affecting teeth and this is the reason why so many temporary dental filling materials are being developed. An example of such filling is zinc oxide paste mixed with eugenol, Thymodentin and Coltosol FÆ. Zinc-oxide eugenol is used in dentistry because of its multiplied values: it improves heeling of the pulp by dentine bridge formation; has antiseptic properties; is hygroscopic. Because of these advantages compouds of zinc oxide are used as temporary fillings, especially in deep caries lesions when treatment is oriented on support of vital pulp. Temporary dental fillings based on zinc oxide are prepared ex tempore by simple mixing powder (Thymodentin) and eugenol liqiud together or a ready to use paste Coltosol FÆ. Quantitative composition depends mainly on experience of person who is preparing it, therefore, exact qualitative composition of dental fillings is not replicable. The main goal of the study was to develop appropriate dental fillings in solid form containing set amount of zinc oxide. Within the study, the influence of preparation method on solid dental fillings properties like mechanical properties and zinc ions release were examined.

Opis:
Zinc is a naturally wide spread element, which generally finds its use in industry but also in numerous pharmaceutical, cosmetic and stomatology materials. Taking into consideration its frequent occurrence (in almost all biological materials) and its low quantities, a good choice of analytical method for zinc assay is a necessity. Apart from spectrophotometric methods – especially AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrometry) which is a method of choice for zinc determination, also electroanalytical methods are used. Most frequently ASV (Anodic Stripping Voltammetry) or Polarography is applied. Despite the need of samples digestion electrochemical methods offer a price convenient method for determination of zinc, even in trace amounts (ppt – parts per trillion). Currently there is also new information about ion selective electrodes suitable for zinc assay.

Opis:
Zinc is an interesting target for detection as it is one of the elements necessary for the proper functioning of the human body, its excess and deficiency can cause several symptoms. Several techniques including electrochemistry have been developed but require laboratory equipment, preparative steps and mercury or complex working electrodes. We here described the development of a robust, simple and commercially available electrochemical system. Differential pulse (DP) voltammetry was used for this purpose with the cyclic renewable mercury film silver based electrode (Hg(Ag)FE) and 0.05 M KNO3 solution as a supporting electrolyte. The effect of various factors such as: preconcentration potential and time, pulse amplitude and width, step potential and supporting electrolyte composition are optimized. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) were 1.62 ng/mL and 4.85 ng/mL, respectively. The repeatability of the method at a concentration level of the analyte as low as 3 ng/mL, expressed as RSD is 3.5% (n = 6). Recovery was determined using certified reference material: Virginia Tobacco Leaves (CTA-VTL-2). The recovery of zinc ranged from 96.6 to 106.5%. The proposed method was successfully applied for determination of zinc in bee products (honey, propolis and diet supplements) after digestion procedure.

Opis:
Although beneficial properties of mineral waters are acknowledged by law in many countries, the use of water for medicinal purposes is not universally accepted. Notably numerous waters (especially mineral and curative ones) have high concentrations of mineral and trace elements. These mineral waters are common on the market and their availability is not regulated by law. Due to the hazard of overdosing, quantification of trace elements and minerals seems to be necessary. The World Health Organization, European Standards and Polish Standards recommend different methods for elemental determination, i.e. spectrometry, photometry for zinc determination, colorimetry or spectrometry for copper, and ionic chromatography for calcium, chloride and fluoride. In this paper, alternative, electrochemical methods have been applied to determine zinc, copper, calcium, chloride and fluoride in most popular natural and curative waters from southern Poland. The determined elemental content varied between 3.85-33.54 μg L-1 for zinc, 85-15.33 μg L-1 for copper, 2.8-2433.63 mg L-1 for chloride, 0.4-1.66 mg L-1 for fluoride and 11.05-478.48 mg L-1 for calcium. The voltammetric method was tested according to the validation procedures, taking into account the following parametes: linearity range, limit of detection and limit of quantification and precision. The results show that the applied electroanalytical methods are suitable for determination of the selected elements in waters of natural origin, ensuring low instrumental and analysis costs while providing results comparable with ones achieved with recommended methods.
