Opis:
Development of democracy and civil society connected with contemporary information technology and communications, increase in activities of social movements for protecting the rights of different groups - these are the reasons that enterprises are forced to verify the view on the profit maximization as the only aim of business activity. The belief that companies should participate in eliminating the civilization threats to which they contribute, becomes widely spread. This involves taking responsibility for the quality of life for present and future generations. The legitimacy of such requests is mainly due to the scale and scope of business activities within the supply chains and the impact they have on local communities’ life, the environment and the progress of civilization. The concept of triple bottom line (TBL) – one of the fundament of social business responsibility, is based on finding a balance between three dimensions - economy, ecology and ethics. TBL concept results from the paradigm of the sustainable development discussed in this article from the axiological and quality point of view. The subject of considerations will be sustainable development and its impact on logistics management.

Opis:
The text covers the projection of the potential impact of the currently observed processes in the world economy on the international supply chains’ geography. The economic effects of the pandemic, the modern trade war and Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine are considered key factors in changing this geography. When examining the importance of these factors, the matrix of three components of global supply chains is adopted: production centres, transport corridors and consumption centres. The reasoning allowed for rejecting both the scenario of maintaining the so-called hyper-globalisation and forming a bilateral system of two isolated and hostile economic systems. The presented arguments lead to the expectation of a mixed solution in the form of the simultaneous existence of a system of high globalisation and concentrated regional systems. The primary objective of this study is to identify and assess emerging trends in the configuration of international supply chains. On this basis, it is also intended to identify the most likely scenario for the future formation of the geography of international supply chains. The research used the literature study methodology and deductive inference of the consequences of the identified processes taken as premises for reasoning. The above-presented arguments lead to the assumption that the so-called hyper-globalisation is probably unsustainable. Various economic, political, technological and social factors make it impossible to sustain, let alone further develop, the current logic of shaping the global economic system. A world economy system with a hybrid structure is expected to emerge. The model of full globalisation will coexist with the model of a multilateral structure with a regional character centred around the main consumption and production centres. The factors determining the evolution of economic globalisation have been systematised. Their potential impact is described, and a likely scenario for change is presented. The achieved results can contribute to the design of economic policy at the level of individual countries and their groupings.

Opis:
In the age of globalization of food markets, short supply chains are the reversion to traditional food distribution systems. A large group of consumers is willing to reach for local food, frequently also buyers of organic food delivered directly from food producers. The paper presents the characteristics of short food supply chains, food distribution systemis shown by: markets, direct purchases from producers and modern forms of providing consumers with local products. Qualitative study was conducted among organic food markets participants – exhibitors (food producers), and visitors (customers). Consumers notice many benefi ts from buying and consuming local food, among others, higher quality of products, favorable price-quality performance ratio, and assurance of purchased products origin. Producers for the most important fi nd greater share in the total price of products and receiving feedback information from consumers. Short supply chains are also resulting signifi cant environmental benefi ts eg. limited transport. A new approach to the subject of local foodsand the benefi ts of shortening the supply chain is refl ected in the policy of the European Union – including through programs on rural development
W erze globalizacji rynków żywnościowych krótkie łańcuchy dostaw to powrót do tradycyjnych systemów dystrybucji żywności. Znaczna grupa konsumentów coraz chętniej sięga po żywność lokalną, nierzadko też żywność ekologiczną, dostarczaną nabywcom bezpośrednio od producentów. W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę krótkich łańcuchów dostaw żywności, przedstawiono system jej dystrybucji poprzez: targi, zakupy bezpośrednie u producentów oraz nowoczesne formy dostarczania konsumentom produktów lokalnych. Badanie o charakterze jakościowym, prowadzone metodą indywidualnych wywiadów pogłębionych i częściowo ustrukturyzowane, przeprowadzono wśród uczestników targów żywności ekologicznej – wystawców (producentów) oraz zwiedzających (klientów). Celem prowadzonych badań była identyfikacja ewentualnych korzyści wynikających z takiej formy dystrybucji żywności, cenionych zarówno przez konsumentów, jak i producentów. Konsumenci dostrzegali wiele korzyści płynących z nabywania i spożywania żywności lokalnej, m.in. wysoką jakość produktów, atrakcyjną relację ceny do jakości, a także bezpieczne pochodzenie nabywanych produktów.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to investigate possible applications of blockchain technology in the fight against the pandemic, which, among other negative consequences, has disrupted global supply chains. Bottlenecks in the supply of raw materials and intermediary products for drug production had cascading effects in other areas, causing shortages in the supply of finished products. The author shows how blockchain-based smart contracts can help improve the functioning of the health service in general, how they can be used to optimize treatment methods and make social insurance more efficient. After reviewing the key features of blockchain technology and tracking the stages of its development, from the creation of the Bitcoin virtual currency to its use in smart contracts and other applications in combination with artificial intelligence in many spheres of the economy and social life, the presentation focuses on the use of blockchain in the management of medical records and its role in securing the stability of supplies of medicines and medical equipment.

Opis:
Monograph is dedicated to the solution of the scientific task of developing theoretical methodical and applied provisions of the business strategy of enterprises in the chain of creation of complex technical systems. The relevance of the scientific research lies in the structure of the participants in the chains of creation of complex technical systems in the market of technical means of economic security of legal entities and individuals of Ukraine, in which mostly small and medium-sized enterprises. They do not have sufficient strategic potential for development, therefore, in order to increase the competitiveness of these enterprises and their adaptation to new market needs, strategic partnership, which will be implemented by the concept of supply chains, becomes important. From the point of view of the impact of such a strategic partnership, attention is paid to the strategic alignment of the goals and objectives of the chain with the goals and strategies of the enterprises that interact in such a chain, which will allow better synchronization of the actions of the participants of such a chain, as well as increase the effectiveness of the participating enterprises and the entire chain of creating complex technical systems.

Opis:
The article discusses issues related to planning of supply chains with use of simulation technology. In the era of well developed information technology companies are constantly looking for new solutions to improve the organization of supply chains. It is interesting that by using the specialized computer software, such as simulation, it is possible to create a tool to support decision making in the field of supply chain organization. The paper presents a simulation model supporting the design of supply chains for the chosen variant of coordination of transport processes. The model, which shows the cooperation between enterprises, was created on the map of Poland. In order to create the best representation of reality, a number of random variables are reflected inthe simulation, i.e. the speed of the transport, changing weather conditions (eg. hail, blizzards, torrential downpours), the probability of an accident or failure of the means of transport. Using thecreated simulation tool can show the financial benefits of the partnership for the defined routes.

Nowadays, the most important factors that cause global market activity and have a big influence on logistics processes are: globalisation and rapid development of new technologies. In that environment, military logistics are operating incessantly alongside the supply of goods in times of war, peace and crisis. These logistics are focused on finding solutions for being more effective and economically profitable. Because of this, logisticians try to reduce costs and supply good faster, as well as trying to provide the right quality and service. The current challenges in military logistics support have changed. The biggest challenge for all logistics processes is to provide services according to the 7R formula (right time, right product, right quantity, right condition, right place, right customer, and right price). A logistics leader is important for every operational mission. Thanks to the leader making quick and smart decisions, successful termination of a mission is possible. The article is based on the example of logistics support for the Polish contingent in Kosovo. In the light of the above, the aim of the article is to identify and estimate the situation of military logistics. The research problem is as follow: What are the biggest determinants of logistics processes in military area?

Opis:
The progressive unpredictability of socio-economic or biological changes (e.g. the SARS-CoV-2/COVID 19 pandemic), the multi-directional nature of their impact, the variability of intensity, and the uncertainty in estimating potential effects hinders the stable and planned operation of modern supply chains. This irreversible situation proves the high unreliability of existing traditional measuring instruments of classical economics and the methods used so far in the field of management and quality sciences. This article aims to present an exemplary set of expectations towards contemporary supply chains that are particularly relevant to the emerging market challenges in the form of mega-trends of threats and conditions, also those particularly emphasized during the SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 pandemic. It is primarily a pandemic (taken as a critical exogenous factor) resulting in severe “disorders” in supply chains. The actual level of supply chain resilience depends on its inherent characteristics and is termed “vulnerabilities”, while an active supply chain response to emerging “disorders” is treated as its “resilience”. For these reasons, the author proposes a holistic view of the nature of the supply chain system and its processes. The proposed approach, based on the method of interpretative (qualitative) research enriched with the idiographic nomothetic approach, is treated as a creative alternative that does not exclude other possibilities of perception of the supply chain, but, in its intellectual diversity, complements other methods of understanding its system, processes, and logistics management. Such an approach with a dominant hypothetical-inductive character allows for creating a platform for broader scientific discussions, positioning itself in the sphere of simplifying reality or creating a theoretical construct for the possibility of formulating the foundations of the preliminary theory. These considerations lead to the conclusion that such an attempt at a new, broader perspective, both at the emerging threats and vulnerability, is related to the level of risk, demonstrating that the Supply Chain Critical Functionality is a consequence of many different factors, including time, costs, and delays in deliveries. Such a view allows for a more comprehensive systematization of the epistemological layer in the area of directional perception and application of logistics, showing many similarities but also significant differences with phenomena that are characteristic of other areas of logistics application and the perception of the conditions for the functioning of modern supply chains.
