Opis:
The construction of a model and quantitative measures have been presented aimed at improving the efficiency of a production-supply system described by a three-dimensional stochastic process. For this purpose, the laws governing the functioning of the system have been described, corresponding to the three different states of the stock level in the subsystem M. These laws generate the quantitative model of the examined system, which enables the construction of the proposed quantitative measures supporting the managing process of such a system.

Opis:
The paper contains an analysis of the operational process of heat supply system with taking into consideration its reliability. The specific character of the operation of heat-supply systems has been considered in this work. In the process of the exploitation of heat-supply systems there have been distinguished five operational states, assuming as a criterion of the level of indoor temperature decrease in residential rooms. The method of modelling the operational reliability of heat-supply systems is worked out. The methodology of determining the overall index of heat-supply system reliability has been presented. The measure of heat-supply system reliability has been assumed as the scale/quantity of inadequate supply of heat power at a given state. Calculations have been carried out regarding the changeability of exterior conditions for one of the groups of customers – residential users. On the basis of the operational data for the heat supply system with two heat sources shortage quantities of heat power and the probability of their occurrence have been calculated as an application of this methodology.

Opis:
Water quality control from the perspective of water supply system users’ safety contributed to create drinking water production and quality control procedures. Contemporary risk hazard analysis should be performed on the stage of production, distribution and storage of tap water. Sequences of undesirable events are considered in the so-called waterworks chain series. This leads to critical control points and gives the ability to provide current control over the processes in the collective water supply system, as well as of their combinations and mutual interactions. Methodology of water consumers protection against incidental pollutions was shown. Algorithm concerning identification of critical control points – CCP was developed .The rules of safety related system into drinking water production have been shown. Also risk assessment using the tree event method was presented.

Opis:
Water supply system (WSS) is characterized by its continuous work and requires high reliability level for its operating as well as for its safety System operating is inseparably connected with the possibility that different failures (undesirable events) occur. The most often they have random character and then they can be described by the classical methods used in the reliability engineering including the probabilistic methods but sometimes they are the consequences of the events which can cause the catastrophic situation. Events of this type cause the so called domino effect that is a chain of the undesirable events which very often develops according to some definite scenarios. In many cases the consequences of such events can be very serious for water consumers as well as for water pipe companies. The basic measure describing WSS safety is risk and the elaboration of the model to analyze risk connected with WSS will allow to use the safety barriers properly. The paper presents paradigms of risk analysis in WSS in the aspect of improving safety for water consumers.

Opis:
Monitoring and controlling the position of fibre optics connectors is a very important issue. Both autonomy and remote control of such a system are very desired and therefore energy independence must be provided. In this paper the design of an optical power supply system is given. A new idea of using the WDM technique in a power supply block is investigated. The electric power provided by a photovoltaic power converter and by a boost converter is shown. Moreover, in this paper the complete examination of efficiency of the system with different illuminations is given. The maximal output power of the system is 24.02 mW and the time required to identify a single fibre connector is tCYCLE=0.65 s.

Opis:
The topic of failures and water losses in the urban-rural water supply network was discussed. The purpose of the work was to assess the level of real water losses and the failure rate of the urban-rural water supply network in 2010-2016. The article’s introduction contains the information on the types and causes of breakdowns in the water supply network. The life cycle of the leakage from its inception to its removal was also described. Next, the methodology and indicators for assessing actual losses in the water supply network were presented according to the guidelines of the International Water Association (IWA), i.e. ILI, CARL, UARL, RLB and water balance. The material and methods chapter describes how to calculate the failure rate. On the basis of the literature review, a method of assessing the failure of the water supply network and the level of actual water losses was presented. The research part presents the results of the water losses indicators values and assesses them against the literature data for the entire urban-rural system. The results of the failure of the water supply of the urban area and the rural area were also presented and compared with the literature data. A method of calculating limit values of the failure intensity index for the entire water supply system was also proposed. The changes in the intensity of failure occurrence during the year were presented. The object described in the studies achieved the A rating according to the classification of ILI and RLB values throughout the entire analysis period (2010–2016). Failure intensity in the analyzed period exceeded the average values calculated for water supply networks in Poland many times. The values in individual cases exceeded the limit values specified in the literature.

In the paper the issues connected with failure risk analysis related to the functioning of this system were presented. In the analysis of water supply system it is important to assess the safety of its operation, both from the producer and the consumer point of view. The paper presents the method of analysis of consumers acceptance of water costs that companies bear for the risk reduction. The proposed method can be the basis of comprehensive program of risk failure management and in decision-making on water supply operation.

In paper issues connected with safety and operation of the water supply system were presented. The study paid special attention to the safety aspect of water consumers in terms of belonging to critical infrastructure. In the paper the consumer risk of the first type associated with the lack or interruptions in water supply was defined, as well as the consumer risk of the second type associated with the consumption of water with incompatible quality with the regulation. The subject of risk assessment refers to the current trends in the world, which are intended to ensure the safety and comfort use of public water supplies.
