Opis:: A model for estimating the precipitation of Cd-, Pb- and As-sulphide in soils at various pH is presented. pH influences not only the solubility of heavy metal-sulphides but also on the distribution of the S atom among sulphide (S²⁻, SH⁻, H₂S) and sulphate (SO₄²⁻) species by the redox potential of the soil solution. The model, based on the Nerst-equation. considers the equilibrium of protolitic processes and complex ion formation. In order to test the model, a long term field experiment polluted with different levels of toxic heavy metals on Hungarian typical soils was performed. Coarse textured soils were treated with Cd. Pb and As salts at pH = 6.8 and 8 and after 6 months and 2 years the heavy metal precipitation was investigated. The Pb ion precipitated at pH = 8.0 and pH = 6.2 while Cd ion at pH = 8. The As ion did not show precipitation effect in any soil according to the majority of arsenate ions at the actual redox potential. Although the solubility of CdS (pK = 26.1) and PbS (pk = 26.6) is similar, the Cd concentration in the solution was higher than that of Pb. The difference between the two ion concentrations is interpreted by the stronger Pb ion adsorption to organic and inorganic soil constituents. It indicated that the adsorbed and complex ion should be considered for the prediction of precipitation.

Opis:: This paper presents an approach for providing innovative technology by applying fluid mechanics to the field of architectural design. The aim is to make a building’s shape profitable and strengthen environmental protection by using the wind force to create an integrated wind absorption definition for a multifunctional building system model. Furthermore, taking control of the wind flow over an object can have an impact on not only the designed object itself but also on its surroundings. In modern coastal cities there are issues associated with the wind and ventilation that need to be solved. The presented system model and the calculations conducted are part of the new definition of a multifunctional object and the wind force as a significant subsystem. Systematizing this scope can be useful in design practice.

Opis:: Myśląc o domu czy osiedlu przyszłości myślimy o zrównoważonym środowisku i o zrównoważonej architekturze. Zrównoważona architektura polega w głównej mierze na wykorzystaniu energii ze środowiska, korzystając bezpośrednio z natury (słońce, wiatr) przy jednoczesnym zapew - nieniu potrzeb społecznych i ekonomicznych. Zrównoważony rozwój wymaga spójności i dialogu budynku z istniejącym otoczeniem, współistnienia architektury z przyrodą, z walorami kulturowymi tworząc w ten sposób ukształtowane zrównoważone środowisko mieszkaniowe. Nie bez znaczenia jest fakt, że zielone budynki pozwalają na oszczędności rzędu od 30 do 50%. Odpowiednio zaprojektowany dom zrównoważony, to taki, który jest zgodny z wymogami ekologii, ekonomii, energooszczędności oraz spełnia wymogi funkcjonalne. Współczesne mieszkalnictwo nie ogranicza się tylko do funkcji mieszkalnych, ale uwzględnia funkcje związane z wypoczynkiem, rekreacją i wygodą mieszkańców.
Thinking about a house or a housing estate of the future we have in mind balanced environment and sustainable architecture. Sustainable architecture mainly means using environmental energy directly from nature (sunlight, wind) and meeting social and economical needs at the same time. Sustainable development requires cohesion and dialogue between the building and the existing surrounding. Coexistence between architecture and nature as well as cultural qualities allows the formation of balanced housing environment. It is significant that green buildings allow us to save from 30% to 50%. A well designed sustainable house should comply with the needs of ecology, economics, energy-saving and functionality. Contemporary housing cannot be limited to eating and sleeping only. It should also provide conditions for relaxation, recreation and comfort of the inhabitants.

Opis:: Artykuł koncentruje się na ocenie zrównoważonego środowiska pracy we współczesnych budynkach biurowych. Jest kontynuacją wcześniej podjętych przez autorkę badań nad zrównoważoną architekturą biurową. Zagadnienie to jest jednym z istotnych czynników prośrodowiskowych w miastach. Składają się na to nie tylko same budynki, sposób ich funkcjonowania oraz sposób wykonania, rodzaj użytych materiałów, ale wyposażenie i aranżacja wnętrz. Należy zaznaczyć, że projekt środowiska biurowego powinien odpowiadać na zmieniające się potrzeby pracowników. Po dwóch latach przerywanej pracy zdalnej spowodowanej pandemią COVID-19 zasadne stało się wprowadzanie w budynkach miejsc przeznaczonych do bardzo potrzebnych interakcji pracowników i współpracy społecznej. Celem pracy jest określenie specyficznych cech zrównoważonego środowiska pracy w budynkach biurowych, korzystnych, przyjaznych dla ludzi, takich, które mogą podnosić jakość i standard wykonywania pracy, podnosić wydajność, ale też wpływać na zdrowie i dobre samopoczucie pracowników. Ponadto przeprowadzono badanie ankietowe, które ma na celu określenie potrzeb pracowników biur pod kątem komfortu pracy.
The article focuses on the assessment of a sustainable working environment in contemporary office buildings. It is a continuation of the research undertaken earlier by the author on sustainable office architecture. This issue is one of the important pro-environmental factors in cities. It consists not only of the buildings themselves, the way they function and the way they are made, the type of materials used, but also the equipment and interior design. It should be noted that the design of the office environment should respond to the changing needs of employees. After two years of intermittent remote work caused by Covid 19, it makes sense to introduce spaces in buildings dedicated to much-needed employee interaction and social collaboration. The aim of the work is to determine the specific features of a sustainable working environment in office buildings, beneficial, people-friendly, those that can improve the quality and standard of work, increase productivity, but also affect the health and well-being of employees. In addition, a survey was conducted to determine the needs of office employees in terms of work comfort.

Opierało się ono o analizę danych zastanych na podstawie studium przypadku miasta Frankfurtu. Główne elementy analizy dotyczyły planów strategicznych i ich rodzajów, środków finansowych przeznaczanych na ochronę środowiska, a także adekwatności działań strategicznych w stosunku do realnej sytuacji ekologicznej na terenie miasta Rzeszowa.
This paper aims to compare the strategic activities of Rzeszów and Frankfurt in the context of sustainable development. From among the three main areas of the concept of sustainable development, ie society, economy and environment, the last factor was selected on the basis of which the study was conducted. It was based on an analysis of existing data on the basis of a case study of the city of Frankfurt. The main elements of the analysis concerned strategic plans and their types, financial resources allocated to environmental protection, as well as the adequacy of strategic activities in relation to the real ecological situation in the city of Rzeszów.

Fabryka butów Baty zmieniła wygląd całego miasta, które stało się sprawnie funkcjonującą przestrzenią, z precyzyjnie zaprojektowaną architekturą warunkującą każdy aspekt życia. Okres powojennej myśli urbanistycznej przedstawiono na wzorze osiedla Sadów Żoliborskich oraz nowatorskiej idei lat 70-tych na przykładzie konkursu na osiedle Ursynów w Warszawie. Odniesiono się do idei miasta ogrodu i jego odsłony w latach 80-tych poprzez tworzenie zielonych, otwartych osiedli w zabudowie niskiej i dywanowej w ramach zleceń rządowych. Wprawdzie te idee nie były zrealizowane ale pozostawała myśl i pragnienie. Poszanowanie terenów zieleni o zasadniczym znaczeniu dla charakteru miejsca zaprezentowano na przykładzie zespołu domów pasywnych w Konstantynowie Łódzkim czy osiedla Aspern w Wiedniu, sposobu ich procedowania i tworzenia. Zwrócono uwagę na rangę poszanowanie wartości krajobrazowych, wyjaśniono zależności pomiędzy przestrzenią, architekturą a naturą. Podjęto próbę znalezienia priorytetowych o kapitalnym znaczeniu elementów gry przestrzennej dla zachowania wartości nadrzędnych dla środowiska naturalnego i architektury.
The authors of the article describe selected examples of living spaces shaped and constructed in the 20th and 21st century and functioning to the present day in the city landscape. They try to explain and evaluate references to the building philosophy and design ethics. They pay particular attention to the processes of manipulation and respect for nature and open spaces. It was presented on the examples of the historical interwar housing estates in Łódź Mątwiłł Mirecki and Werkbund in Wrocław and the Zlin garden city by the Bata Company. The Bata Shoe Factory changed the shape of the entire city into a functioning space, with architecture conditioning every aspect of life. The period of post-war urban thought was presented on the model of the Sadów Żoliborskie estate and the innovative idea of the 1970s on the example of the competition for the Ursynów estate in Warsaw. It was based on the idea of a garden city and its presentation in the 1980s by creating green, low open housing estates as part of government commissions. Although these ideas were not realized, the idea, thought and desire remained. The respect for green areas of fundamental importance for the character of the place was presented on the example of the passive house complex in Konstantynów Łódzki or the Aspern estate in Vienna. The importance of respect for landscape values was emphasized, and the relationship between space, architecture and nature was explained. An attempt was made to find the main elements of space, which was of paramount importance for the preservation of values superior to the natural environment and architecture.

Opis:: Purpose: The basic purpose of the article was to determine the awareness of different generation groups in terms of ecological and economic aspects of life. Design/methodology/approach: The article presents the theoretical framework of consumer behavior and the implemented pro-ecological activities of representatives of Generations X, Y, Z. Subsequently, social involvement in pro-ecological activities in the immediate vicinity was determined based on own research and exemplary results of international research. Findings: The main hypothesis put forward is as follows: ecological and economic awareness is related to the age difference. The research indicates that there are differences in the consumer behavior of representatives of different generations in relation to environmental protection and the global energy crisis. Research limitations/implications: The research confirmed the formulated hypothes. The financial possibilities of various social groups may indicate a different image of consumerism in the era of commonly required pro-ecological behavior. Practical implications: The respondents showed great awareness and knowledge as well as commitment to pro-ecological activities, considering economic aspects. Social implications: Contemporary promotion of pro-ecological activities leads to an increase in social awareness. Originality/value: The analyzes of the conducted surveys emphasize the increasing awareness of pro-ecological and economic behavior of consumers in many countries and the need to adapt urban space to social and ecological requirements. Consumption leads primarily to an increase in production, which is an important factor of economic growth in the world markets.
