Synchronous machine powered from cycloconverter might be investigated using constant or variable structure methods [4]. There is no mathematical model with constant structure and variable parameters of synchronous machine powered from cycloconverter in the literature. The purpose of this paper is to formulate the mathematical model with variable parameters of synchronous machine powered from 3-pulse cycloconverter.
Maszyna synchroniczna zasilana z cyklokonwertora może być badana metodami zmiennej lub stałej struktury. W artykule zaproponowano matematyczny model o zmiennych parametrach przy założeniu stałej struktury maszyny synchronicznej i układu zasilającego (cyklokonwertora trójpulsowego). Utworzony model pozwala badać zarówno stany bezawaryjne, jak i awaryjne układu.

Opis:
Magnetic decoupling principle when applied to electrical machines states that if two windings are configured for different number of pole pairs, they would not interact with each other magnetically even though they share a common magnetic core. This principle forms the basis for developing special machines where two or more machines can be integrated with the same magnetic circuit. This paper deals with formulating the mathematical analysis that determines the validity of this principle during practical conditions (i.e. non-sinusoidal winding distribution, flux saturation, etc.). Extensive Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation results from the Ansys Maxwell-2D software platform closely obey the conclusions derived from the mathematical analysis. As an example, new brushless and magnetless synchronous machines (SMs) have been developed by using this principle. It is designed by embedding an induction machine (IM) with a SM. Experimental investigations conducted on the laboratory prototype support the mathematical analysis dealt with in this paper.

This paper describes the use of computational methods for solving the flow of the air-cooling in the large synchronous machines where it is used to cool the stator winding and stator radial channels which are located between the stator packet sheets. The overall process flow is mostly influenced by the size of air gap between stator and rotor, the shape of the radial channels, and by flow rates in machines. This paper mostly discusses about the influence flow rate of the cooling medium which has effects on the pressure distribution and flow rate in the radial channels. Cooling medium considered in this article an air and for and for calculation was chosen ANSYS CFX.

Opis:
Lately, there has been increased interest in hybrid excitation electrical machines. Hybrid excitation is a construction that combines permanent magnet excitation with wound field excitation. Within the general classification, these machines can be classified as modified synchronous machines or inductor machines. These machines may be applied as motors and generators. The complexity of electromagnetic phenomena which occur as a result of coupling of magnetic fluxes of separate excitation systems with perpendicular magnetic axis is a motivation to formulate various mathematical models of these machines. The presented paper discusses the construction of a unipolar hybrid excitation synchronous machine. The magnetic equivalent circuit model including nonlinear magnetization curves is presented. Based on this model, it is possible to determine the multi-parameter relationships between the induced voltage and magnetomotive force in the excitation winding. Particular attention has been paid to the analysis of the impact of additional stator and rotor yokes on above relationship. Induced voltage determines the remaining operating parameters of the machine, both in the motor and generator mode of operation. The analysis of chosen correlations results in an identification of the effective control range of electromotive force of the machine.

The subject of the paper is the comparison of four complementary methods of the rotor loss estimation in a PM SM, supplied by a PWM voltage source. An ANSYS based finite element model produces values of W, the magnetic energy stored, and P, the rotor losses. On analytical level the machine is represented by a parallel two elements equivalent circuit for each voltage harmonic. Its parameters are estimated using P and W values. Finally, the eddy current losses representation in the ANSYS code is verified for magnets under study by direct losses measurements. The calculation results are compared with some measured values resulting from analysis and harmonic decomposition of the machine total losses.

Opis:
The natural mode of operation for the brushless doubly-fed induction machine is a particular instance of synchronism at a so-called natural rotor velocity when one stator winding is powered by an AC and the other by a DC voltage source. Consequently, in addition to the rotating magnetic field, there exists a magnetic field that is fixed to the stator frame of reference. Analysis in this specific mode is essential as the natural velocity arises from the choice of pole numbers, thereby determining machine efficiency. However, this presents a significant challenge when it comes to mathematical modeling using complex-valued steady-state models through either equivalent-circuit or finite element analysis. This paper presents a study on the extension of the recently-proposed steady-state complex-valued finite element model for the brushless doubly-fed induction machine to enable its application in the natural operating mode. A high correlation with the data obtained from a time-stepping model is obtained for the extended model when subjected to both low and high levels of saturation of the magnetic circuit. This extension makes the whole approach applicable in all operating conditions and modes of the brushless doubly-fed induction machine. Considering the nearly two orders of magnitude lower computational costs associated with analysis via the proposed model compared to time-stepping analysis, it is particularly useful in scenarios that involve extensive computations and require multiple cases to be considered such as design sensitivity analysis, topology optimization or a connection with machine learning techniques.

Opis:
Renewable energy sources are connected to the grid through inverters, resulting in reduced grid inertia and poor stability. Traditional grid-connected inverters do not have the function of voltage and frequency regulation and can no longer adapt to the new development. The virtual synchronous generator (VSG) has the function of voltage and frequency regulation and has more outstanding advantages than the traditional inverter. Based on the principle of the VSG, the relationship between energy storage capacity, frequency response and output power of the VSG is derived, and the relationship between the virtual inertia coefficient, damping coefficient and frequency characteristics of the VSG and output power is revealed. The mathematical model is established and modeled using the Matlab/Simulink simulation software, and the simulation results verify the relationship between energy storage capacity and frequency response and the output power of the VSG.

Opis:
This paper proposes an electromechanical transient method to build a battery energy storage system-based virtual synchronous generator model, suitable for a large-scale grid. This model consists of virtual synchronous generator control, system limitation and the model interface. The equations of a second-order synchronous machine, the characteristics of charging/discharging power, state of charge, operating efficiency, dead band and inverter limits are also considered. By equipping the energy storage converter into an approximate synchronous voltage source with an excitation system and speed regulation system, the necessary inertia and damping characteristics are provided for the renewable energy power system with low inertia and weak damping. Based on the node current injection method by the power system analysis software package (PSASP), the control model is built to study the influence of different energy storage systems. A study on the impact of renewable energy unit fluctuation on frequency and the active power of the IEEE 4-machine 2-area system is selected for simulation verification. Through reasonable control and flexible allocation of energy storage plants, a stable and friendly frequency environment can be created for power systems with high-penetration renewable energy.
