This work presents the problem of clusters computing performance optimization. An assessment of the impact of computing architecture, applications, and communications equipment on the system performance was done. Processing bottlenecks were identified, showing that in order to obtain an optimum usage of computational structure the system should be treated as a complex one in which it is impossible to isolate and optimize each element independently.

The article presents an overview of some recent developments in the area of mathematical modelling of maintenance decisions with the use of time-delay and time-delay analysis. Thus, the literature overview in the investigated area is provided. The problem of time relations occurred in supply chain performance process is investigated. Later, there are presented obtained reliability analysis results in comparison with the knowledge about the case company present con-dition. Obraz hipstera rekonstruuje ona na podstawie jego medialnych reprezentacji, czerpiąc z nich wiedzę na temat jego wyglądu oraz stylu życia. Analiza wyodrębnionych w ten sposób cech hipstera pozwala na sformułowanie wniosku dotyczącego ironii jako podstawowego aspektu wszelkich praktyk hipsterskich. Ironia więc w rozumieniu autorki staje się bronią, jakiej używają hipsterzy wobec narzucającego przymus performowania systemu mody. Opisane działania i wygląd hipsterów traktowane są w pracy jako taktyki w rozumieniu Michela de Certeau, pozwalające na egzystencję na własnych zasadach w systemie mody.
The author presents hipsters, accesories and behaviours characteristic for them. The picture of the hipster is reconstructed by her on a basis of media representaions. In that way she derives knowledge of their look and life style. The analysis of presented characteristics enables to express a conclusion about irony being a primary feature of hipsters' practices. The irony, according to the author, becomes a weapon used by hipsters against the fashion system, that imposes a coercion to perform. The descirbed hipsters' actions and looks are taken as tactics, to Michel de Certeau's understanding, enableing the existence in the fashion system on one's own rules.

Opis:
The article presents the prospects for application of wireless power supply in electronic devices. A short description of advantages of using this technology including the principle of its operation and construction of typical systems applied in devices of everyday use was provided. Two types of resonance systems used for wireless transmission of energy were presented. Also, advantages and disadvantages of using each of these systems were listed. Furthermore, the impedance and performance analyses of the wireless electric energy transmission systems were discussed. The performance characteristics were presented depending on several parameters in the three–dimensional form. The minimum quality factor of the resonance system, which allows the achievement of the high system performance at low interface between the primary and secondary coil winding was demonstrated. Two tested circuits were compared and the areas of application were determined for each of them. Difficulties related to maintenance of the circuit in resonance and to limitation of losses were determined.

Praca jest poświęcona problemowi optymalizacji systemu w oparciu o testy wydajności. Przyjęte podejście polega na dynamicznej zmianie konfiguracji systemu na podstawie charakterystyki ruchu sieciowego. Zadanie jest realizowane przez system APES, który monitoruje czasy wykonania żądań i na ich podstawie przełącza konfigurację serwera aplikacji oraz komponentów redundantnych. W artykule opisano architekturę systemu. Skuteczność zaproponowanego rozwiązania została potwierdzona eksperymentalnie. Otrzymane wyniki wskazują, że system APES jest w stanie skrócić czas wykonywania żądań w większości badanych przypadków. Poprawa wydajności wyniosła od 3% do 820%.
The work is devoted to the problem of system optimization based on performance tests. The proposed approach dynamically changes the configuration of the system due to the characteristics of network traffic. The task is implemented by APES which monitors application execution times and, based on them, adapts the configuration of the application server and redundant components. The article presents the architecture of the system. The proposed solution was tested in conducted experiments. The results have confirmed that the solution is able to shorten the time of request processing in most of the cases. The improvement was between 3% and 820%.

Miara zintegrowanej ważności (IIM) pozwala oceniać szybkość zmian wydajności systemu powstałych w wyniku przejścia elementu systemu z jednego stanu do drugiego. IIM pozwala rozważać scenariusze, w których szybkość przejścia elementu z jednego stanu do drugiego jest stała. Jest to jednak sprzeczne z założeniem degradacji, zgodnie z którym wydajność systemu obniża się, w związku z czym, szybkość przejścia może z upływem czasu ulegać zwiększeniu. Rozkład Weibulla opisuje żywotność danego elementu, co wykorzystuje się w wielu różnych zastosowaniach technicznych do modelowania złożonych zbiorów danych. W przedstawionej pracy, rozszerzono IIM uzyskując nową miarę ważności, która pozwala rozważać scenariusze, w których szybkość przejścia elementu z jednego stanu do drugiego w wyniku degradacji jest zależną od czasu funkcją rozkładu Weibulla. Przyjęto, że warunkowy rozkład prawdopodobieństwa elementu przebywającego w pewnym stanie jest rozkładem Weibulla, gdzie dany jest kolejny stan do którego ma przejść dany element. Badania nad nową miarą ważności umożliwiają identyfikację najważniejszych elementów podczas trzech różnych okresów czasu życia systemu, co odpowiada charakterystyce rozkładów Weibulla. Dla ilustracji, wyprowadzono pewne właściwości probabilistyczne i zastosowano rozszerzoną miarę ważności do analizy przykładu rzeczywistego układu śmigłowca.
The integrated importance measure (IIM) evaluates the rate of system performance change due to a component changing from one state to another. The IIM simply considers the scenarios where the transition rate of a component from one state to another is constant. This may contradict the assumption of the degradation, based on which system performance is degrading and therefore the transition rate may be increasing over time. The Weibull distribution describes the life of a component, which has been used in many different engineering applications to model complex data sets. This paper extends the IIM to a new importance measure that considers the scenarios where the transition rate of a component degrading from one state to another is a time-dependent function under the Weibull distribution. It considers the conditional probability distribution of a component sojourning at a state is the Weibull distribution, given the next state that component will jump to. The research on the new importance measure can identify the most important component during three different time periods of the system lifetime, which is corresponding to the characteristics of Weibull distributions. For illustration, the paper then derives some probabilistic properties and applies the extended importance measure to a real-world example (i.e., a propeller plane system).

Opis:
It is nesessary to tune the fuzzy rules and the scalling factors in real-time control of a large scale system, the steam generator of a nuclear power plant, as it is related to safety and availability of the plant. A novel real-time tuning algorithm of fuzzy controller based on the scaling factors is proposed and applied to the steam generator water level control system of the nuclear power plant. The new real-time tuning algorithm adopts a variable reference tuning index for a good system tuning response and an instantaneous system fuzzy performance for scaling factor tuning. For the fuzzy steam generator controller, an image signal of feedwater flow error at low power is proposed and pressure compensation rules and a gain scheduler of feedwater temperature are designed also. The fuzzy controller of the steam generator water level is simulated by the proposed method. The simulation results show that the improved performance of the steam generator water level controller by the proposed method.

Development of a tool for assessing the performance of long-term care systems in relation to care transition : Transitional Care Assessment Tool in Long-Term Care (TCAT-LTC)

Background Improving the quality and safety of care transitions is a priority in many countries. Carrying out performance measurements play a significant role in improving quality of decisions undertaken by different actors involved in reforms. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to present the development of an evaluation tool for assessing the performance of long-term care systems in relation to care transition, namely the Transitional Care Assessment Tool in Long-Term Care (TCAT-LTC). This study is performed as part of a larger European TRANS-SENIOR project. Methods The development of the TCAT-LTC involved three steps. First, we developed a conceptual model based on Donabedian’s quality framework and literature review. Second, we carried out a thorough process of item pool generation using deductive (systematic literature review) and deductive-inductive methods (in-depth interviews) with experts in the field of long-term care. Third, we conducted preliminary validation of the tool by asking experts in research and practice to provide an opinion on a tool and to assess content validity. Future fourth step will involve a tool’s pilot with country experts from Germany, the Netherlands and Poland. Results By applying methodological triangulation, we developed the TCAT-LTC, which consists of 2 themes, 12 categories and 63 items. Themes include organizational and financial aspects. Organizational aspects include categories such as communication, transfer of information, availability and coordination of resources, training and education of staff, education/support of the patient/informal caregiver, involvement of the patient/informal caregiver, telemedicine and e-Health, and social care. Financial aspects include categories such as primary care, hospital, and long-term care. We also present the instructions on the application of the TCAT-LTC. Conclusions In this paper, we presented the development of the TCAT-LTC evaluation tool for assessing the performance of long-term care systems in relation to care transition. The TCAT-LTC is the first tool to assess the performance of long-term care systems in relation to care transition. Assessments can be carried out at the national and international level and enable to monitor, evaluate, and compare performance of the long-term care systems in relation to care transition within and across countries.

This article presents a statistical methodology for selecting representative buildings for experimentally evaluating the performance of HVAC systems, especially in terms of energy consumption. The proposed approach is based on the k-means method. The algorithm for this method is conceptually simple, allowing it to be easily implemented. The method can be applied to large quantities of data with unknown distributions. The method was tested using numerical experiments to determine the hourly, daily, and yearly heat values and the domestic hot water demands of residential buildings in Poland. Due to its simplicity, the proposed approach is very promising for use in engineering applications and is applicable to testing the performance of many HVAC systems.
W artykule przedstawiono statystyczną metodę wyboru budynków reprezentatywnych pod względem charakterystyki energetycznej oraz cech wbudowanych systemów grzewczych wentylacyjnych i klimatyzacyjnych. Proponowane podejście opiera się na metodzie k-średnich. Algorytm dla tej metody jest stosunkowo prosty, co pozwala na łatwe wdrożenie i nie wymaga dużego nakładu (kosztu) obliczeniowego. Sposób ten może być stosowany dla dużych ilości danych. Metodą k-średnich badano dane pozyskane w czasie inwentaryzacji obiektów oraz w wyniku symulacji komputerowych funkcjonowania budynków, zawierające m.in. roczne wartości zapotrzebowania na ciepło (symulowane z krokiem czasowym godzinnym). Z uwagi na względną prostotę metodyki oraz uzyskane bardzo dobre wyniki, proponowane podejście jest bardzo obiecujące dla zastosowań technicznych, w tym analiz budynków pod kątem systemów HVAC.

The key objective of critical success factors is to filter out excessive information reaching organizations so that management can focus on several most critical areas. Both scholars and practitioners employ most frequently expert interviews as to identify critical success factors. The aim of this study is to show how quantitative methods can contribute to a more efficient critical success factors identification. This study uses a sample of observations relating to 300 Polish crop producers in a 5-years period between 2013 to 2017. The findings of this study show clearly that the lower the inventory levels the higher the profitability and the growth of sales revenues of Polish crop producers.

Each performance measurement and management system should be updated and reorganized so that it can be adequate to the changes occurring in the economic entity and the sector in which it operates. In addition, the performance measurement system should evolve with the organization's changing strategy and continually updated management objectives. The purpose of the study was to analyze the possibility of applying key performance indicators in an economic entity from the energy sector and to indicate their role and importance in the context of effective management and monitoring of progress in achieving pre-defined objectives. In the study, a coherent set of KPIs was designed, which were used to evaluate the existing concepts in the business entity and, at the same time, served as guidelines for choosing new directions of improvement and development concerning, among others, reorganization and restructuring in the customer service model through the introduction of a training system and organization design (a system of values and employee motivation), as well as obtaining permanent savings in operating costs through reduction of own costs will make it possible to pursue an effective pricing policy.

For the implementation of solar thermal installations it is necessary to optimize energy-efficient external enclosures due to the correct installation and design of these units at different orientations of external walls. Investigated the effectiveness of using solar energy in the conditions of shortage of energy in Ukraine. Ad hoc solar wall look at two modes of its operation. Given a variety of graphical, analytical expressions for understanding the operation of the proposed design. Given these changes of the heat carrier temperature solar wall income the amount of the specific instantaneous heat output through time. The article considers the possibility of using experimental models, solar wall under the influence of her unfavourable ad hoc factors. It is established that the proposed model is solar wall is quite effective and can be used in solar heating systems.

Systemy oceniania języka mówionego posługują się rozmaitymi skalami zawierającymi różne kategorie odnoszące się do jakości języka zawierające podkategorie obejmujące słownictwo i środki językowe, jak również poprawność językową zwykle na tle biegłości i potoczystości w mówieniu. Te, z kolei, uzupełnione bywają rozlicznymi jeszcze kategoriami, wśród których właściwie zawsze poczesne miejsce zajmuje wymowa. Warto jednak przyjrzeć się sytuacji, gdzie tej kategorii brak w skalach oceniania i w jaki sposób wpływa to na percepcje egzaminatorów języka mówionego. W tym badaniu dane pochodzące z Elektroniczne Systemu Wspierania Oceniania (ang. EPSS) zgromadzone w trakcie treningu i doszkalania egzaminatorów języka angielskiego z różnych kontekstów edukacyjnych pozwalają na sformułowanie intrygujących wniosków badawczych
Assessment of spoken performance is often viewed in terms of various different categories relating to the language aspect of performance including provisions for vocabulary use and linguistic resources, as well as accuracy of use, contrasted with fluency. Such categories are often coupled with several other categories relating to other aspects of spoken performance, and amongst those one almost always featured in rating schemes is that of pronunciation. It is interesting to observe what happens when this category is omitted in rating scales and how this affects the perceptions of oral examiners. In this investigation, data from an Electronic Performance Support System (EPSS) obtained in training and fine-tuning examiners of oral performance in tests of spoken performance in English from different educational contexts is used to draw some intriguing research conclusions

Przyszłość dzisiejszych organizacji tkwi w ich umiejętności adaptowania się do zmian. Sytuacja ta powoduje potrzebę poszukiwania rozwiązań organizacyjnych odpowiadających tym wymaganiom także w obszarze ZZL. Biorąc pod uwagę powyższe, celem niniejszego artykułu stało się zidentyfikowanie kluczowych zagadnień wymagających analizy w procesie przygotowania organizacji do zarządzania zmianami systemu ocen okresowych pracowników. W efekcie studiów zaproponowano jedno z możliwych rozwiązań – podejście instytucjonalne do zarządzania zmianą. Opracowanie można także traktować jako propozycję sposobu do analizy innych podejść.
The future of today’s organization lies with its ability to adapt to change. This situation forces the need to search for organizational solutions that meet this challenge in the realm of HRM. Bearing the above in mind, the goal of this article is the identification of key questions requiring analysis in the process of preparing the organization for managing change in the employee performance appraisal system. A possible solution, the result of the study, has been proposed—the institutional approach to change management. The study may also be considered a proposal for ways to analyze other approaches.

Performance Measurement Systems (PMS) have been a potential answer to problems related to production systems monitoring, allowing the management and manipulation of data collected at various levels in organizations. PMS can be defined as a group of indicators in an information system. There are several types of PMS, however, the relationship between indicators in a PMS is still an issue that needs to be explored, as the KPIs in a production system are not independent and may have an intrinsic relationship. The purpose of this paper is to present a multilevel structure and its intrinsic structural relation for managing and analysing KPIs for a value stream production system. This hierarchical structure has different KPI levels such as Improvement KPIs, Monitoring KPIs, and Results KPIs or KPR (Key Performance Results), intrinsically related from the strategic levels to the operational levels. This provides a useful tool for the management of production systems, being used to analyse, and support the organization's continuous improvement processes.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest porównanie dwóch najbardziej popularnych i konkurencyjnych systemów plików – EXT4 oraz NTFS w systemie Ubuntu przy wykorzystaniu dysku SSD. Na początku artykułu został wykonany krytyczny opis literatury wyjaśniający celowość podjętych badań. Dodatkowo wyjaśniono podstawy działaniaobu omawianych systemów plików. Badanie polegało na kopiowaniu plików pomiędzy dwoma partycjami i mierzeniem czasu wykonywania tej czynności przy użyciu specjalnie opracowanego skryptu powłoki systemu w języku bash. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały lepszą efektywność systemu EXT4 nad system NTFS.
The aim of this article is to compare the two most popular and competing file systems – EXT4 and NTFS in Ubutnu with the use of SSD disk.. At the beginning of this article, a critical description of the literature was made, explaining the purposefulness of the research undertaken. Additionally, the basics of the operation of both discussed file systems are explained. The research consisted of copying files between two partitions and measuring the time of this operation using a specially developed system shell script in the bash language. The conducted research has shown that the EXT4 system is more effective than the NTFS system

The literature reviewed suggests that, much as the concept of performance management systems has been in existence for a long period of time, as early as 1980s, it is only in the early 2000s that organizations begun to reap the benefits of implementing such systems. With Norton and Kaplan invention of the balanced scorecard (Kaplan R, 2010) organizations start-ed to base performance by considering many aspects that constitutes performance of an organ-ization such as Financials, Internal business processes, customer service and people manage-ment. Use of these performance parameters would assess both individual and business per-formance as a whole. Literature suggests that integrating Information technology into business processes for example, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Supply chain Man-agement systems (SCM) and Inventory management, overlooking modernizing people man-agement systems like performance management, could be a misdirected investment. This form of IT implementations in many public institutions and indeed privately owned entities has not yielded expected results. This is because regardless of how good a technology might be and how huge the investment could be, if the people working on such IT systems are not efficient, the business cannot be productive, and therefore, the efficiency of any IT system can only yield results when there is a high level of efficiency from people using such systems. In-stitutions that have implemented and automated their performance systems have benefited from such systems in terms cost savings, speed of service delivery, productivity and the quali-ty of services being offered. To ascertain the impact of IT supported performance management systems in organizations; the research investigated use of performance management systems in Zambian public institutions and how such systems have impacted efficiency and productivity. Both secondary and primary data was used to evaluate performance management systems and also investigate available performance measurement systems used in public institutions and from the results obtained create a suitable software design model and also develop a prototype software solution capable of effectively improve productivity and efficiency in public institutions.

Druk Serwis Sp. z o.o. is a company that is constantly developing, investing in new technologies, staff training and infrastructure (to the end of 2001 the company has earmarked investments of about 170 ml zł.). Very good financial results and a good position in the market are the result of properly conducted quality policies, putting special emphasis on the highest quality of services and products offered. The decision to implement, maintain and certify integrated management system in retrospect, turned out to be a key objective for the company. Adoption of a quality policy resulted in the company M.M. Druk Serwis Sp. z o.o. to meet expectations and requirements and to build a strong trust among customers. By properly educated, trained and committed employees who support a company taking care of her good name was very well managed, continuously improved and open to any revision of the company that provides customer service and the highest quality products at reasonable prices. The hypothesis presented in the work concerned the implementation of quality management system ISO 9001, which had a positive impact on improving economic performance at M. M. Druk Serwis Sp. z o.o..
Celem pracy było ukazanie wpływu wdrożenia systemu zarządzania jakością ISO 9001 na wyniki ekonomiczne firmy M.M. Druk Serwis Sp. z o.o.. M.M. Druk Serwis Sp. z o.o. jest pierwszą w Polsce firmą, która w swojej ofercie posiada usługę Print Management. Firma M.M. Druk Serwis Sp. z o.o. jest firmą, która ciągle się rozwija, inwestując w nowe technologie, szkolenia pracowników oraz infrastrukturę (do końca 2001 roku firma na inwestycje przeznaczyła ok. 170 ml zł.). Bardzo dobre wyniki finansowe oraz dobra pozycja na rynku są efektem właściwie prowadzonej polityki jakości, kładącej szczególny nacisk na najwyższą jakość świadczonych usług i oferowanych produktów. Podjęcie decyzji wdrożenia, utrzymania i certyfikowania zintegrowanego systemu zarządzania z perspektywy czasu okazała się dla firmy kluczowym celem. Przyjęcie polityki jakości przełożyło się w firmie M.M. Druk Serwis Sp. z o.o. na spełnienie oczekiwań i wymagań oraz zbudowania silnego zaufania wśród klientów. Dzięki odpowiednio wykształconym, przeszkolonym i zaangażowany pracownikom, którzy wspierają firmę dbając o jej dobre imię powstało bardzo dobrze zarządzane, ciągle doskonalone i otwarte na wszelakie zmiany przedsiębiorstwo, które oferuje klientowi usługi i produkty najwyższej jakości w korzystnej cenie. The main purpose of the paper is to identify the group of indicators that are most widely used in the manufacturing area worldwide, to identify the responsibility and authority for measuring and evaluating business performance, and to create an illustrative competency-based model for a performance management system within a business. The paper covers two areas that are important in the maintenance of sustainable business performance. The first area focuses on a performance management system and its key performance indicators as an important element in every performance management system within a business. The article also presents the theoretical background of the Z-MESOT method, which is applied to define the consistency of these indicators in practice. The second area is dedicated to defining a competency-based model and competences related to the measurement and assessment of performance, which have been extracted from other general competences. This paper presents findings from qualitative research to eliminate the bottlenecks of the Z-MESOT matrix that was transposed into a questionnaire. The questionnaire, as well as structured interviews, helped identify differences in responsibility attributes of the Z-MESOT matrix regarding the size of the researched businesses. The paper offers a list of competences related to the key performance indicators that can be used for following theoretical and practical research.

The performance measurement system is one of the determinants which creates an enterprise’s value, and is supposed to leading to an enterprise maintaining or improving its performance in the long-term perspective. Small enterprises do not understand the need to measure their performance or the potential benefits that come from this measurement. The aim of the article is to present a framework of a performance measurement system for small enterprises with a practical verification of its assumptions. The basis of the study was an analysis of existing proposals of models and frameworks for small and medium enterprises and the results of a study into the performance measurement solutions applied in practice by Polish small enterprises. As a result of the research conducted, a 4-step process of continuous performance measurement for small enterprises is presented, and practical verification is conducted on the example of a small legal firm, considering the strategy map and the measures of the set of aims. The construction of a performance measurement system is unique to every enterprise due to its condition, the business sector, the environment, and other factors, so a featured case study provides only a specific example of model usage in practice. The study provides an original contribution of the author. There has been no such research in this field so far in the Polish literature.
System pomiaru dokonań jest jedną z determinant tworzenia wartości przedsiębiorstw, ma prowadzić do utrzymania lub poprawy dokonań przedsiębiorstwa w dłuższej perspektywie czasowej. Małe przedsiębiorstwa nie rozumieją potrzeby pomiaru swoich dokonań, ani potencjalnych korzyści płynących z tego pomiaru. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja modelu systemu pomiaru dokonań dla małych przedsiębiorstw wraz z praktyczną weryfikacją założeń. Podstawę opracowania stanowiły analiza istniejących propozycji w zakresie modeli oraz ram koncepcyjnych dla małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw oraz wyniki diagnozy stosowanych w praktyce rozwiązań w zakresie pomiaru dokonań przez polskie małe przedsiębiorstwa. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań zaproponowano czteroetapową koncepcję ciągłego pomiaru dokonań małych firm oraz dokonano praktycznej weryfikacji założeń modelu na wybranym przykładzie małej firmy prawniczej, uwzględniając mapę strategii oraz zestaw przykładowych mierników celów przedsiębiorstwa. Budowa systemu pomiaru dokonań jest specyficzna dla każdego przedsiębiorstwa ze względu na jego kondycję, sektor działalności, otoczenie i inne czynniki, więc przedstawione studia przypadku stanowią jedynie przykład specyficznego zastosowania modelu w praktyce. Opracowanie stanowi oryginalny wkład autora, dotychczas w literaturze polskiej brakowało opracowań dotyczących tych zagadnień.

Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to identify critical areas of primary healthcare services providers and to develop a performance management framework for these organizations. Design/methodology/approach: Firstly, 12 semi-structured interviews with decision makers experienced with management of primary healthcare services providers are being conducted. Next, based on obtained results, holistic conclusions and the performance management system for primary healthcare services providers are being provided. Findings: Performance management of primary healthcare services providers is highly reliant on significant stakeholders, namely: patients, medical doctors, nurses and midwifes, stockholders and National Healthcare Fund. Failure to include any of stated stakeholders would result in considerable underperformance. The proposed framework postulates to focus on the performance management of the following 3 areas: (1) operations management, (2) risk and compliance and (3) development so that stated stakeholders are satisfied and provide, in exchange, their contribution to the organization. Research limitations/implications: The scope of this paper has been limited only to small and medium sized clinics located in Poland. Practical implications: Proposed in this study performance management framework, due to its simplicity, should be a useful tool for practitioners to adapt and apply in their organizations. Originality/value: The first performance management framework for primary healthcare services providers in Poland is being proposed. Since, the proposed framework acknowledges wider society, the developed concept should provide sustainable solutions for organizations willing to implement it.

W ostatnim czasie można zauważyć pojawiającą się presję na potrzebę poprawy jakości i bezpieczeństwa pacjentów w podmiotach leczniczych, także na konieczność poprawy efektywności funkcjonowania tych jednostek. W literaturze przedmiotu i praktyce zarządzania istnieje wiele modeli systemów pomiaru wyników organizacyjnych. Konieczna jest identyfikacja obecnie stosowanych systemów miar wyników w podmiotach leczniczych i taka ich modyfikacja/przeprojektowanie, by spełniały oczekiwania obiektywizacji oceny dokonań podmiotów leczniczych. Celem opracowania jest rozpoznanie zestawu stosowanych miar pozwalających na ustalenie stopnia pomiaru dokonań w wybranych do badań podmiotach leczniczych. Na potrzeby badań przyjęto następującą hipotezę: stosowane systemy miar wyników organizacyjnych w badanych podmiotach leczniczych nie sprzyjają efektywnej działalności tychże placówek.
In recent times, we can notice the need to improve service quality and patient safety in health care organizations, the need to improve the efficiency of the operations in these units. There are many models of performance measurement systems in management professional literature and business practice. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the current shape of performance measurement system in these organizations and to modify or redesign it to meet modern manager’s expectations in field of healthcare management. The aim of this paper is to recognize and assess the types of measures, which are used to measure achievements in the selected researched health care organizations. There was defined the following hypothesis in the research: in the surveyed healthcare organizations the applied performance measurement systems do not lead to the efficient functioning of these organizations.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wyników badań przeprowadzonych w celu rozpoznania relacji między systemem pomiaru efektywności a efektywnością funkcjonowania MSP. Na podstawie analizy czynnikowej wyróżniono trzy wymiary systemu pomiaru efektywności. Do oceny efektywności funkcjonowania przyjęto wskaźnik McKenzie. W badaniach wykorzystano analizę korelacji Pearsona i Spearmana oraz zbudowano modele regresji liniowej wielorakiej. Przeprowadzone badania wskazały, że największa zależność występuje między wymiarami systemu pomiaru efektywności: Wszechstronność – integracja, Wszechstronność – elastyczność oraz Orientacja strategiczna − efektywność MSP wyrażona wskaźnikiem McKenzie. Można stwierdzić, że w praktyce przedsiębiorstwa osiągające wyższy poziom tych wymiarów prawdopodobnie osiągają większą efektywność. Wobec powyższego proponuje się kadrze zarządzającej zwrócenie szczególnej uwagi na wskazane wymiary systemu pomiaru efektywności.
The aim of the paper is to present the results of the research conducted in order to recognise the relationship between the performance measurement system and effectiveness of SMSs. First, based on the factor analysis, three dimensions of the performance measurement system were distinguished. For evaluation of the effectiveness the McKenzie indicator was adopted. In the research, an analysis of the Pearson’s and Spearman’s correlation was used as well as multiple linear regression models were built. The research has indicated that the biggest relationship is between dimensions of PMS: Versatility – integration, Versatility – flexibility and Strategic orientation and effectiveness expressed with the McKenzie indicator. It can be concluded that, in practice, enterprises with higher levels of these dimensions probably achieve higher effectiveness. Therefore, it is proposed that managers should pay a particular attention to the indicated dimensions of the performance measurement system.
Цель статьи – представить результаты исследований, проведенных для выявления отношений между системой измерения эффективности и эффективностью функционирования МСП. На основе факторного анализа выделили три измерения системы измерения эффективности. Для оценки эффективности функционирования приняли показатель Маккензи. В исследованиях использовали анализ корреляции Пирсона и Спирмена, а также построили модели линейной множественной регрессии. Проведенные исследования показали, что самая большая зависимость выступает между измерениями системы измерения эффективности: «всесторонность – интеграция», «всесторон- ность – эластичность» и «стратегическая ориентация – эффективность МСП», выраженная показателем Маккензи. Можно констатировать, что на практике предприятия, достигающие более высокого уровня этих измерений, вероятно достигают большей эффективности. В этой связи автор предлагает управляющим кадрам обратить особое внимание на указанные измерения системы измерения эффективности.

The research aims at examining the impact of transformational leadership on job performance. Moreover, the research explores the mediating effect of High-Performance Work System (HPWS) in the relationship between transformational leadership and job performance. A purposive sample of 400 respondents from Omani service organizations was selected for the study. The results show that transformational leadership has a positive and significant impact on HPWS and job performance. Moreover, HPWS also has a positive impact on job performance. Partial support has been found for the hypothesized mediator role of HPWS in transformational leadership and job performance relationship.
Celem badania jest zbadanie wpływu przywództwa transformacyjnego na wyniki w pracy. Ponadto badanie analizuje pośredniczący wpływ systemu pracy o wysokiej wydajności (HPWS) w związku między przywództwem transformacyjnym a wydajnością pracy. Do badania wybrano celowo 400 respondentów z omańskich organizacji usługowych. Wyniki pokazują, że przywództwo transformacyjne ma pozytywny i znaczący wpływ na HPWS i wydajność pracy. Ponadto HPWS miał również pozytywny wpływ na wydajność pracy. Stwierdzono częściowe poparcie dla hipotetycznej roli HPWS jako mediatora w transformacyjnym przywództwie i relacji z wynikami pracy.

Managers’ requirements for modern hospital performance measurement systems emphasize the need for including in the analysis clinical data. A hospital’s financial status cannot be fully and reliably evaluated without access to such data. The existing research concerning the hospital performance measurement systems using financial and non-financial data in the process of managing healthcare facilities is limited. Therefore the aim of the study was to develop a new measure - the clinical efficiency index - which can be used to evaluate the operational efficiency of a hospital based on both, costs and clinical factors. The study showed that conclusions drawn from financial analysis differs when covering clinical aspects. The main contribution of this work is to provide healthcare professionals with a more focused perspective towards incorporating clinical factors into the hospital performance measurement system.
Oczekiwania menedżerów dotyczące nowoczesnych systemów oceny dokonań szpitali obejmują uwzględnienie w nich danych klinicznych. Nie można w pełni i wiarygodnie ocenić sytuacji finansowej szpitala bez dostępu do takich danych. Dotychczasowe badania dotyczące systemów pomiaru i oceny dokonań szpitali – wykorzystujących dane finansowe i niefinansowe w procesie zarządzania placówkami opieki zdrowotnej – są ograniczone. Dlatego celem przeprowadzonych badań było opracowanie nowego miernika – wskaźnika sprawności działań na oddziale, który to można wykorzystać do oceny wydajności operacyjnej szpitala na podstawie zarówno kosztów, jak i czynników klinicznych. Uwzględnienie aspektów klinicznych w systemie oceny dokonań szpitala pozwala na bardziej wyczerpujące wnioski oraz wskazuje na pożądane kierunki zmian szpitalnych systemów pomiaru dokonań.

The exchange of knowledge is what is being indicated today as the way forward for the mutual development of business and universities in the modern world. This article has two primary goals. First, it presents a possible way for studying employee performance appraisal documentation forms as well as the development of this as a basis of guidelines for improving the human resource management system. Second, it presents a proposal for collaboration between the academic community and business in the area of undertaking research into the emerging model of HRM. This is an example of a low–cost exchange of ideas among practitioners and academic researchers.

The article addresses three challenges in the M&A theory and practice: poor value orientation, lack of integrated approach to an acquisition process, and limited integration scope. It integrates the existing literature reviewing existing models as well as the author's merger experience. This paper proposes a novel acquisition framework addressing the challenges and gaps in the M&A value-creation process. The framework emphasises the role of corporate strategy as the key value creation formula in setting the right context for a merger. It also reiterates the importance of a performance management system assuring accountability and alignment at every stage of a merger including two new process stages. The model also offers a novel perspective on merger integration challenging the traditional approach and promoting earlier initiation of integration efforts. The paper also demonstrates, through a business case, a practical application of the proposed framework by a serial acquirer.
Artykuł dotyczy trzech wyzwań w literaturze i praktyce M&A, tj. słabej orientacji na kreowanie wartości, braku zintegrowanego, a także zbyt wąskiego podejścia do procesu integracyjnego. Zaproponowano nowatorskie spojrzenie analityczno-biznesowe, wychodząc naprzeciw powszechnym wyzwaniom w kreowaniu wartości w procesie akwizycyjnym. Koncepcja ta oparta jest na krytycznym przeglądzie ewoluujących w czasie modeli M&A, jak i na doświadczeniach praktycznych autora. Prezentowana struktura akcentuje rolę strategii korporacyjnej definiującej sposób kreowania wartości danej firmy, w tym również jej działalności akwizycyjnej. Podkreśla ona również znaczenie systemu zarządzania przez cele w zapewnieniu odpowiedzialności i spójności działań akwizycyjnych na każdym etapie procesu. Model proponuje także odejście od tradycyjnego podejścia do procesu integracji na rzecz wcześniejszego inicjowania działań integracyjnych. Artykuł prezentuje praktyczne zastosowanie modelu poprzez business case.

The purpose of this MSc thesis project was the functional and performance analysis of selected popular queuing systems. The first part of the project is a theoretical introduction to the issues of communication in distributed systems. In particular, the main assumptions and models of queuing systems are described.The next stage delves into the selected implementations (RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, Apache Pulsar) - presenting how they work, functionality and comparing key features of the systems.Subsequent chapters describe the process of creating a testing module from defining requirements, through system design and implementation. Once the independent module was created, test cases were defined, which were used to evaluate the queuing systems in terms of performance.After completing the above steps, the goal was achieved. The result of the functional comparison and performance analysis is the final chapter, where the optimal choices of queuing systems according to the expectations of the system designers are described.
Celem niniejszego projektu dyplomowego była analiza funkcjonalna i wydajnościowe wybranych popularnych systemów kolejkowych. Pierwszą częścią projektu jest wstęp teoretyczny do zagadnień z dziedziny komunikacji w systemach rozproszonych. W szczególności opisane zostały główne założenia oraz modele systemów kolejkowych.Następny etap to zagłębienie się w wybrane implementacje (RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, Apache Pulsar) - przedstawienie sposobu działania, funkcjonalności oraz porównanie kluczowych cech systemów.Kolejne rozdziały opisują proces tworzenia modułu testującego od zdefiniowania wymagań, poprzez projekt systemu, aż do implementacji. Po utworzeniu niezależnego modułu, zostały zdefiniowane przypadki testowe, które posłużyły do ewaluacji systemów kolejkowych pod względem wydajności.Po zakończeniu powyższych etapów, cel został osiągnięty. Rezultatem porównania funkcjonalnego oraz analizy wydajności jest ostatni rozdział, gdzie zostały opisane optymalne wybory systemów kolejkowych w zależności od oczekiwań projektantów systemu.

This paper shows the impact of the implementation of quality management system ISO 9001:2008 in economic performance P.P.H.U. Awex Rafal Stanuch in 2007-2012. The company is engaged in manufacturing of modern emergency lighting systems. Presented in a consistent and determined the facts, saying that the implementation and maintenance of an integrated management system has an impact on the economic success of the company, which translates into increased revenues, improved collaboration and customer satisfaction. Discusses the determinants of the quality of the company, characterized by quality management system, shows the process of improvement of the quality management system in 2007-2012 are shown the impact of the quality management system in the economic performance in 2007-2012, and assesses the effectiveness of quality activities.

Przedstawienie procesu wdrażania w IMI International oddział TA Hydronics ma na celu pokazanie, jakie zmiany w działaniu organizacji przynosi postępowanie zgodne ze standardem ISO 9001 i poddanie systemu zarządzania jakością procesowi certyfikacji przez niezależną jednostkę. Problemem badawczym jest wskazanie różnic w sposobie zarządzania organizacją przeciwstawiając okres przed wdrożeniem i po uzyskaniu certyfikacji. Metodologia badawcza oparta jest na badaniu dokumentacji systemowej, skuteczności i efektywności wdrożonych metod i narzędzi (jakościowych, ciągłego doskonalenia i lean management), analizie przeprowadzonych auditów (wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych), wywiadzie wśród pracowników poszczególnych jednostek organizacyjnych i ankiecie dotyczącej samooceny poziomu dojrzałości organizacji wśród kadry kierowniczej. Przeprowadzone badania potwierdziły hipotezę, że wdrożenie systemu zarządzania jakością zgodnego z wymaganiami normy ISO 9001 usystematyzowało poprzedni system zarządzania organizacją oraz wprowadziło metody zapewnienia skuteczności przebiegu i nadzorowania tych procesów.
Aim of this study is to evaluation the implementation of the quality management system conforming with ISO 9001 in the TA Hydronics. The main hypothesis of this study is that the implementation of the quality management system conforming to ISO 9001 leads to the improvement of management model. The implementation of the Quality Management System according to ISO 9001 standard leads to a change in the organization management. It focus on functioning of individual departments and it place emphasis on process approach actions. Presentation of the implementation process in the TA Hydronics shows what changes in the operation of the organization brings proceedings according to requirements associated with ISO 9001 - Quality Management System and auditing this system by an independent certification body. The research problem is to identify the differences between the organization management during the period before and after the implementation process and certification audit. Research methodology is based on the study of system documentation, effectiveness and efficiency of the implemented methods and tools (quality tools, continuous improvement tools and lean management tools), the analysis carried out audits (internal and external), the analysis of prepared interviews among employees from each organizational units and the analysis of prepared self-assessment survey for top management staff. The study confirmed the hypothesis that the implementation of a quality management system associated with the ISO 9001 requirements, improves interaction between the processes and systematizes each action (through procedures) and also the implements management methods to ensure effective operation and control of these processes.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between employee’s performance appraisal system and motivation. The research indicates that factors of employee assessment have the significant influence on motivation. Nonetheless, the essential elements are appropriate knowledge of forming correct appraisal system and evaluation interview. The first part of this study presence theory of performance appraisal system and motivation, futher methodology and specific aspects of SOOP. Accordingly, in the second part, the study sought to investigate influence of periodical appraisal system on motivation. The analysis were conducted using own questionnaire in one company. Praca jest próbą ukazania wpływu oceny okresowej na motywację pracowników. Opisuje spektrum czynników oceny pracownika, oceny okresowe oraz motywacji. Celem pracy jest udowodnienie, iż ocena okresowa jest elementem motywacji pracowników, może mieć wpływ na nią zarówno pozytywnie jak i negatywnie. Praca podzielona została na dwie części: teoretyczną oraz empiryczną. W pierwszej z nich zostały wyjaśniane podstawowe pojęcia: oceny pracy, rozmowy oceniającej oraz motywacji. Opisano główne elementy, cele, narzędzia, metody, kryteria, zasady oraz błędy SOOP. Przedstawiono wybrane teorie motywacji oraz jej strategię i narzędzia. W pracy ukazano, iż ocena okresowa oraz jej poszczególne elementy mają duży wpływ na motywację. Jednak niezbędnym elementem jest odpowiednia wiedza oraz poprawnie stworzony system oceny. W części badawczej na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy wybranego przedsiębiorstwa został ukazany wpływ oceny okresowej na motywację. Analiza została przeprowadzona na postawie badań własnych w formie ankiety. W ostatniej części opracowania znajdują się wnioski oraz podsumowanie badań.

In last few years, the concept ofa Balanced Scorecard has been the object ofliteraturę discussions in regards to management. Hus performance management tool becomes an instrument, supporting city management and the process of customizing its strategy. The BSC is a management system which enables city management to clarify their vision and strategy and translate them into action. Zmiany koncepcji zarządzania jednostkami sektora finansów publicznych w Polsce to obecnie wyzwanie, przed którym stają te podmioty oraz osoby nimi zarządzające. Ich efektem jest wzrost znaczenia pomiaru dokonań oparty jednocześnie na miernikach finansowych i niefinansowych, a więc wykorzystania narzędzi rachunkowości zarządczej w gminach. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zbadanie zakresu wykorzystania narzędzi rachunkowości zarządczej w gminach w województwie łódzkim oraz ocena przydatności ich zastosowania w procesie decyzyjnym i pomiarze dokonań. Dla realizacji tak postawionego celu przeprowadzono badanie ilościowe z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza ankiety. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badania oraz wnioski postulowane przez różnych badaczy. Pozwoliło to na wzbogacenie literatury dotyczącej wykorzystania narzędzi rachunkowości zarządczej w gminach w Polsce, a także sfomułowanie wniosku o potrzebie ich zastosowania w tych podmiotach.
The changes in the concept of managing public finance sector units in Poland are currently a challenge that these entities and their managers face. The effect of these changes is the increase in the importance of measurement of achievements based on both financial and non-financial measures, and thus the use of management accounting tools in municipalities. The purpose of this article is to examine the scope of the use of management accounting tools in the municipalities of Lodz voivodeship and to assess the suitability of their application in the decision-making process and measurement of achievements. To realize such a goal, a quantitative survey was carried out using a questionnaire. The article presents the results of research and conclusions proposed by various researchers, thus enriching the literature on the use of management accounting tools in municipalities in Poland, and highlighting the need to apply them in such entities.

The influence of monetary incentives on the motivation of employees was considered in this article. A calculation of the interrelationship between monetary rewards and labour productivity was provided, as the most visible quantitative indicator of employee motivation. In the course of this research, the specific components of the overall payroll were examined, and their impact on the productivity of employees was determined. The results of the study indicated that extra pay, bonuses, and inducement pay had a positive linkage with labour productivity, whereas the basic wage level and indexation were not found to have a significant effect on motivation. It was considered important to establish the most suitable recommendations for managers, in terms of improving their system of financial rewards with the objective of enhancing the level of employee motivation.
Celem artykułu jest rozpatrzenie wpływu bodźców monetarnych na motywację pracowników. Przeprowadzono rozliczenie związku między bodźcami monetarnymy i wydajnością pracy, jako najbardziej oczywistym ilościowym wskaźnikiem motywacji pracowników. W pracy rozpatrzono elementy konstrukcyjne funduszu pracy, a także określono ich wpływ na wydajność pracy. Wyniki badania pokazały, że istnieje pozytywna korelacja między dopłatami, premią, nagrodami finansowymi i wydajnością pracy, w tym czasie jak istotnego wpływu pensji i ideksacji na motywację nie było stwierdzono. Uzasadniono odpowiednie rekomendacje dla menedżerów, co do doskonalenia systemu nagród finansowych w celu zwiększenia motywacji pracowników

The paper presents an approach to modelling and simulation of web systems. The systems are being modelled from the point of view of services realized by them. The formal model of a system, accompanied with a model of a request realization is presented. The main aspect of the paper is a simulation model of client-server interactions that adequately describes the relationship between the server response time, its availability and resource utilization. The model was constructed based on the the results of multiple experiments presented in a paper. Moreover, it was implemented in the simulation tool and its accuracy verified against testbed web servers. Apache and IIS servers were analysed.

In the area of business performance and strategic performance measurement system, many studies have been realized which identify the major factors affecting the performance of the company itself. The world of business environments in modern economies has changed dramatically the way of pursuing business and depends nowadays heavily on the performance in generating and utilizing new knowledge, information systems, innovations and management techniques and tools for creating of the higher business performance. From several studies carried out in the management and measurement performance issue, it is evident that performance is affected by many factors. These factors are important for improving business performance. The objective of this paper was to analyze selected management methods and tools that can potentially have an effect on the performance. The results of our empirical scientific study provide interesting and valuable findings that the overall performance of industrial enterprises in Slovakia. Relationship between the use of MIS and overall business performance ROE is a strong statistically significant. The use of the MIS achieved business performance of ROE between 2-10%. Enterprises that use only basic ERP Information System reach under-average business performance most often with negative or very low ROE to maximum 2%.
W kwestii wydajności biznesu i systemu pomiaru wydajności strategicznej przeprowadzono liczne badania, które identyfikują główne czynniki wpływające na wydajność samej firmy. Świat środowisk biznesowych we współczesnych gospodarkach zmienił zdecydowanie sposób prowadzenia działalności gospodarczej i zależy obecnie w dużym stopniu od wydajności w generowaniu i wykorzystywaniu nowej wiedzy, systemów informacyjnych, innowacji i technik zarządzania oraz narzędzi umożliwiających osiągnięcie wyższej wydajności biznesu. Z przeprowadzonych badań dotyczących zarządzania i pomiaru wydajności wynika, że na wydajność ma wpływ wiele czynników. Czynniki te są ważne dla poprawy wyników biznesowych. Celem niniejszego artykułu była analiza wybranych metod i narzędzi zarządzania, które potencjalnie mogą mieć wpływ na wydajność. Wyniki naszych empirycznych badań naukowych dostarczają interesujących i cennych wniosków, dotyczących ogólnej wydajności przedsiębiorstw przemysłowych na Słowacji. Związek pomiędzy korzystaniem z SIZ a ogólną wydajnością biznesową ROE ma silne znaczenie statystyczne. Wykorzystanie SIZ osiągnęło wydajność biznesową na poziomie 2-10%. Przedsiębiorstwa, które korzystają tylko z podstawowego systemu informatycznego ERP osiągają wyniki biznesowe poniżej przeciętnej, najczęściej z ujemnym lub bardzo niskim ROE (do maksimum 2%).

Opis:
An approach to factory automation is the basis for a case study of Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Management systems (CIMMs). The paper presents some experience in large-scale systems and the current state-of-the-art for the domain. A feasible approach is proposed, based on prospective user expectations and the system development with the use of so-called first thread for which the standards facilitating the development of subsequent systems should be developed, and people acquainted with both manufacturing and management problems should be educated. There is also depicted some research work intended for facilitating the design and implementation of future CIMMs.

Treść pracy skupiona została wokół pojęcia przeżycia estetycznego, którego doświadcza odbiorca przedstawienia teatralnego podczas spektaklu. Najpierw termin został umiejscowiony na płaszczyźnie estetyki, aby wskazać jego miejsce wśród innych procesów estetycznych, natomiast później określono jego miejsce w naukach pedagogicznych. Dziedzina wychowania estetycznego posługuje się przeżyciem estetycznym jako elementem wychowującym, który pobudzany jest m. in. przez teatr. Idąc dalej, przytoczenie kilku teorii przeżyć estetycznych wskazało na zainteresowanie problemem współczesnych filozofów oraz reżysera teatralnego - Konstantego Stanisławskiego. Teoria przeżywania roli przez aktora w systemie Stanisławskiego wpłynęła na dobór przedstawienia, który mieści się w nurcie teatru realizmu psychologicznego. Spektakl „Tramwaj zwany pożądaniem” stał się podstawą do przeprowadzenia badań nad przeżyciem doświadczonym podczas spektaklu oraz stworzenia czteroetapowego procesu przeżywania za pomocą metody fenomenograficznej i refleksywnego kształcenia teatralnego.
The sum up, the thesis is focused on the spectator’s aesthetic experience, especially during “A Streetcar Named Desire” performance. First part is aesthetics history description to present aesthetic experience as one of the most important aspects of all aesthetic processes. Further, aesthetic education also uses aesthetic experience’s theories and thereby, aesthetic experience is education term. The thesis is written on a border between sciences, that is psychology, aesthetics, philosophy but the main idea is connected with pedagogy. An experience is Stanislavski System’s leitmotif. Thus, this is reason why Stanislavski System take place in pedagogy thesis. “An Actor Prepares” written by Constantin Stanislavski is compendium of knowledge on acting, especially about emotion. Emotion is a special way to say that aesthetic experience exists. The aesthetic experience are difficult to present in consequence second part is experience part with using phenomenography and author methods.

Opis:
A comprehensive evaluation of work-related perfomance factors is a prerequisite to developing integrated and long-term solutions to workplace performance improvement. This paper describes a work-factor classification system that categorizes the entire domain of workplace factors impacting performance. A questionnaire-based instrument was developed to implement this classification system in industry. Fifty jobs were evaluated in 4 different service and manufacturing companies using the proposed questionnaire-based instrument. The reliability coefficients obtained from the analyzed jobs were considered good (.589 to .862). In general, the physical work factors resulted in higher reliability coefficients (.847 to .862) than non-physical work factors (.589 to .768).

Opis:
Implemented by an increasing number of organisations worldwide, the ISO 9001 standard for quality management received considerable attention in the existing literature. Researchers worldwide have found positive, negative and even mixed effects of ISO 9001 certification on firms’ performance, while in Morocco this issue has been rarely examined. It is the combination of these observations that led to this study. The aim of this paper is to test and validate a causal model designed to measure the performance of an ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System (QMS) and its impact on a company’s financial performance. By means of this causal analysis/model, the study examines the relationship between: - QMS and the financial performance of 41 companies based in Morocco; - the management responsibility process and all the QMS processes; - the management resources process and all the QMS processes; - the organisational and financial performance of the studied companies. All of the considered firms are part of the service industry and range from medium-sized to large companies. The data gathered in this study have been instrumental in devising actionable insights. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was the statistical software platform that enabled the use of a linear regression analysis to prove the positive correlation between the above-mentioned elements.

Opis:
Monitoring & Detection (M&D) systems are introduced in almost all daily life aspects. Today, it is unlikely to find out a system that is not equipped with a sort of M&D apparatus, even the most ordinary and uncritical systems. Objective assessments of the performances of M&D systems are increasingly needed. Performance assessment may be motivated by commercial interests or by certification concerns if the application field is ordinary or uncritical. While, if the application filed is critical, safety and security aspects may become the major focus. The paper classifies in three classes the models that are the most-frequently used to describe M&D systems. The author proposes for each class a suitable indicator of performance based on M&Dsystems reliability targets.

Opis:
In this paper, the author presents the results of his inquiry on personal management in 103 companies of Opole region. In the light of the inquiry it appears that personal connections are claimed by 51% of respondents to be important in Staff recruitment, although 88% respondents do not accept this. 96% of the inquired people are convinced that the managing board is obliged to prior inform the staff about the planned redundancy, and 57% expect essential aid from the employer to find a new job. Also, according to employees, the roles of job seniority (62%) and personal connections (44%) are important in rewarding the staff. However, the employee’s role in realizing the company’s longterm targets in rewarding the staff is seen as minor (31%). A positive aspect of personal management is that a considerable number of companies (43%) already apply assessing systems and employees accept them. Yet, we still lack modern staff assessment systems in our companies e. g. 3600.

Pomiar dokonań w organizacjach to jedno z kluczowych zagadnień będących w centrum zainteresowania menedżerów organizacji. W szczególności prowadzenie pomiarów realizowanych działań i uzyskiwanych osiągnięć to priorytetowy element zarządzania przez cele. Jakie uwarunkowania i wyzwania czekają przed menedżerami współcześnie kreującymi systemy pomiaru dokonań organizacji w dobie cyfryzacji, tj. automatyzacji, robotyzacji, czyli funkcjonowania w trybie gospodarki 4.0 i tworzenia się tzw. gospodarki na żądanie? Celem opracowania jest identyfikacja uwarunkowań, trendów oraz wyzwań i rekomendacji w obszarze pomiaru dokonań organizacji w erze gospodarki cyfrowej, gospodarki na żądanie. Do realizacji celu wykorzystano metodę analizy literatury.
Measuring results is one of the key issues in the focus of the organization’s managers. In particular, conducting measurements of implemented activities and achieved results is a priority element of management by objectives. What conditions and challenges await the managers who create Performance Measurement Systems today in the era of digitization, i.e. automation, robotics, or functioning in Industry 4.0, and the emergence of the On-demand Economy? The aim of the study is to identify conditions, trends, challenges and recommendations in the area of Performance Measurement Systems in Industry 4.0 and On-demand Economy. The literature review is the method used in the study.

Opis:
In some cases the classical performance indexes are not adequate for the performance evaluation of the concentration control systems. Therefore, the specific performance index is proposed in this paper. This index depends on the product of the product flow rate and some function of the deviation of the product concentration from the set point. In order to minimize this performance index the special control system is proposed. This special control system used to the forced circulation evaporator is studied using simulation techniques. The simulation results show that the system described in this paper produces the performance index less than classical control system.

Performance management approach has not been widely presented in Polish literature in the field of human resources management. There is also no domestic research in this regard, on the contrary to the English language literature. The paper concentrates on employee performance management as an integrated approach to human resources management on the basis of literature review. It presents the unfolding role of PM systems in Polish HRM trends on the background of worldwide research findings.
Понятие управления по результатам (ZPE, англ. performance management) не обсуждались до сих пор широко в практике польского управление человеческими ресурсами (УЧР). В отличие от англоязычной литературы нет также целостных отечественных исследований в этой области. Автор статьи сосредоточивается на управлении эффективностью работника (ZEP, англ. emploee performance management) как интегрирующем подходе в области УЧР и опираясь на результаты обзора литературы показывает его характерные черты. Подчеркивает растущую роль систем ZPE в появляющихся трендах польского УЧР на фоне мировых результатов исследований.

The article presents an optimization of Ø0.21/0.16 hydraulic leg system operating in a powered roof support Glinik 13/25 Pp type, working at longwall 6, seam 501, KWK Bobrek – Centrum - in hazard conditions of mining tremors. The process included numerical modelling and computer software, ANSYS CFX. The optimization allows to achieve an adequate capacity and performance of the hydraulic system which increases workplace safety in the mines. The article provides basic requirements that must be provided in order to conduct an analysis in ANSYS CFX. The software was used to carry out 10 simulations, which allowed to determine an optimal flow for the subject leg.

Opis:
A comprehensive review of the extant literature on ISO Management System (IMS) standards certified companies conceded into major business performance improvement factors and elements. The worldwide activities of ISO Development of International Standards Total as of the end of December 2023 are 25111 International Standards and standards-type documents. ISO population data files for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021) show the standards used for certification in Pakistan besides world ISO population data. In 2023, a total of 1,465 International Standards and standards-type documents were published. Due to space limitations in the research paper, only one data file is attached to this paper. The most popular and populous standard among all is the ISO 9000 Quality Management System (QMS) standards adopted in Pakistan. The identified factors and elements /items were reviewed and converted into criteria set and framework. The analysis of this secondary experiential data shows that IMS standards certification improves the businesses’ performance. A survey questionnaire was designed on these business performance improvement factors and elements and pilot-tested to establish its ‘Reliability and Validity’. This questionnaire was used to collect national primary empirical data from both IMS standards-certified and non-certified businesses in all chambers of commerce and industry in Pakistan, including women’s chambers. The analysis of this national primary empirical data also shows an impact of IMS standards certification on businesses’ performance. Hence, it supports the results of secondary ISO experiential data analysis. Also, in comparative performance analysis, the IMS standards certified businesses outperformed the non-certified businesses. The IMS standards certification contributes to the prosperity, sustainability, technical, managerial, financial, Operational, communication, social, and environmental improvement, etc. of the businesses, thus increasing the national GDP. This improvement trend ultimately helps in attaining SDG goals set by the UN for all nations.

After the global crisis and the worst global economic downturn of recent times, banks in Europe were striving for success in a continually changing industry. Numerous initiatives have been launched in order to improve the efficiency of the capital. Banks have made significant efforts in the recent period in order to stabilize their balance sheets and still have to realize all of the bad loans in their portfolios.This paper aims the conduct and performance of the UK and Romanian banking sector in the years of the last financial crisis. It provides an insight in the recent global financial crisis caused by the sub-prime mortgage crisis initiated in the United States and underlines its effects on the banking industry of the United Kingdom and Romania.
Po światowym kryzysie i największym globalnym spowolnieniu gospodarczym ostatnich czasów, banki w Europie dążyły do sukcesu w stale zmieniającej się branży. W celu poprawy efektywności kapitału uruchomione zostały liczne inicjatywy. W ostatnim okresie banki dokonały znaczących wysiłków w celu stabilizacji swoich bilansów i nadal mają do zrealizowania wszystkie niespłacone w terminie pożyczki w swoich portfelach. Niniejsze opracowanie ma na celu przybliżenie działalności i wydajności sektora bankowego Wielkiej Brytanii i Rumunii w latach ostatniego kryzysu finansowego. Dostarcza wgląd w światowy kryzys finansowy ostatnich lat spowodowany przez kryzys hipoteczny typu subprime zainicjowany w Stanach Zjednoczonych i podkreśla jego wpływ na sektor bankowy w Wielkiej Brytanii i Rumunii.

Material handling and logistics management that involve transportation of work pieces on production floor are important aspects to manufacturing that affect productivity and efficiency. Tow vehicles that are manually driven are currently used for this purpose. These processes can be better performed through automation. Automated guided vehicle (AGV) is an apt solution. AGVs are unmanned autonomous vehicles that can be programmed to perform versatile tasks. AGVs available in market are imported and hence have high capital cost and increased lead time for spare parts. Proposed AGV is built with a capital cost that is less than half of the existing AGVs. Its design is made indigenously, with most of its parts locally sourced. It can achieve a speed of 0.83 m/s, with a pulling capacity of 1,300 kg. Its rechargeable batteries sustain four hours of continuous operation for one complete discharge. It has been tested and found to effectively replace tow vehicles.

The paper is concerned with the analysis of under-keel clearance of ships based on real data from Szczecin Maritime Office. Using probabilistic method for UKC assessment give it possibility to create the distribution of under-keel clearance in several ship’s passages and in further step to determine the probability of ship’s grounding accident during the port approach. The results of using this type of model could be used in risk assessment of ships entering to the ports, therefore it is possible to used probabilistic model in Maritime Office employees’ everyday decision making practice. Research results present verification of probabilistic model, based on data from Vessel Traffic Service database and probability of touching the bottom during ships’ passages on Swinoujscie – Szczecin waterway. Moreover there are presented examples of these situations when entering to the port for analysed ships is not allowed according to the model.

While having been the object of numerous studies, the link between ERP implementation and SMEs performance still requires understanding. This paper documents the effect of investments in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems on a firm’s sales performance and profitability measure such as return on sales (ROS). The models are based on a sample of 240 during time of defined activities in the sales process realized during the each month by 40 knowledge workers in each of 5 Polish SMEs announcements of ERP implementations. Our analysis of the financial benefits of these implementations yields mixed results. Our results are encouraging that we find the business activity that can persistent evidence of sales performance associated with ERP investments. This should help alleviate the companies that some have expressed about the viability of ERP given the highly publicized implementation problems at some firms.

Maintenance is a key manufacturing function that contributes to a company’s productivity, profitability and sustainability. Unfortunately, many aspects of the contribution of maintenance to sustainability in manufacturing remain unexplored, and many enterprises are not yet ready to assess the maintenance impacts on their sustainability. Maturity models are useful tools for assessing maintenance practices; however, no maintenance maturity model that allows the evaluation of the contribution of maintenance to sustainable performance was found in literature. This paper proposes a model for assessing the maturity and sustainability of maintenance processes. The model outputs are: a measure of the maintenance and sustainability maturity level; recommendations for improvement to undertake to enhance maintenance maturity and, thus, meet sustainability standards. The model was applied in three manufacturing enterprises: the calculation of their maintenance maturity and sustainability indices made the maintenance stakeholders more aware of the need to implement effective strategies for more sustainable maintenance performance.

Skupiono się na analizie algorytmów kryptografii symetrycznej i asymetrycznej oraz przetestowano, ile czasu zajmują im operacje szyfrowania i generowania klucza. Badania przeprowadzono na różnych urządzeniach działających na najwyższej wspieranej wersji systemu operacyjnego.
The subject of this article is to compare iOS mobile operation system encryption algorithms performance. The main target is to analyze symmetrical and asymmetrical algorithms, test them how much time encryptionand key generation operations take. Tests were carried out on various devices with the same version of operating system.

Starzenie się społeczeństw wymusza zmiany systemów emerytalnych, które są wprowadzane w życie w krajach OECD od ponad 20 lat. Celem badań jest próba porównania efektywności rynków funduszy emerytalnych w wybranych krajach europejskich i USA. Badania zostały przeprowadzone na podstawie danych OECD z lat 2002-2013. Do oceny efektywności inwestycyjnej funduszy emerytalnych wykorzystano miary: Sharpe’a, Treynora, współczynnik uogólniony (lub informacyjny), alfę Jensena i wskaźnik Treynora – Black’a. Przedstawiono pewne propozycje konstrukcji benchmarków rynkowych, odzwierciedlających zróżnicowane sytuacji w poszczególnych krajach.
The essential increase of the old-dependency ratio requires changes in retirement system which have been introduced in OECD countries for 20 years now. The aim of our research is comparison of the performance of the pension fund markets in selected European countries and the USA. Investigation is provided using OECD data from the years 2002-2013. To evaluate the investment efficiency in these states we apply the following measures: Sharpe and Treynor ratios, excess return information ratio, and Jensen alpha. Opis:
The construction industry is considered as one of the most important sectors in Egypt. One of the major challenges faced by the industry, however, is the unavailability of suitable performance measurement systems for assessing companies’ performance. Modern performance assessment systems adopt a more universal approach to the measurement of construction company performance as opposed to the traditional project triangle. This paper aims to examine the practice of performance measurement in the Egyptian construction industry. Results show dominant role of in-house developed performance management systems as well as the use of KPIs as a method of performance assessment. The study further reveals that the highest importance is given to measures related to the time of project delivery, quality of works, clients’ satisfaction and profitability. Hence, the traditional project triangle of project’s success is the most prevalent approach to performance evaluation in the construction industry in Egypt. However, a shift towards a more holistic approach to performance assessment in larger companies was observed.

Budżetowanie zadaniowe wpisuje się w ogólnoświatowy trend transformacji administracji publicznej i wprowadzenia na dużą skalę podejścia definiowanego jako New Public Management. Metoda ta jest próbą zastosowania modeli i zasad zarządzania, wypróbowanych z wielkim powodzeniem w sektorze prywatnym. Celem opracowania jest wskazanie roli planu finansowego w układzie budżetowym; który jest wdrażany w systemie finansów publicznych. Analiza zakresu metodologicznego budżetu pozwoliła na identyfikacje jego wad i zalet. Obowiązek sporządzania budżetu w układzie zadaniowego został wprowadzony jedynie w administracji rządowej. Jednak warto zastanowić się nad jego obligatoryjnym wprowadzeniem na szczeblu samorządu terytorialnego. Wnioski dodatkowe zostały potwierdzone doświadczeniem pochodzącym ze współpracy autorki z praktyką w tym zakresie.
Performance budgeting is part of a worldwide trend of transformation of public administration and the introduction of a large-scale approach defined as New Public Management. This method is an attempt to apply models and management principles, tried with great success in the private sector. The aim of the study is indication the role of the financial plan in the budget system which is implemented in the system of public finances. Analysis of the methodological scope of the budget has allowed the identification of its advantages and disadvantages. Obligation to prepare the performance budget was only introduced in government administration. However, it is worth considering the obligatory introduction at the level of local government.

Analyzing the systems in terms of reliability, we often treat them as the technical objects only, omitting human interaction or assuming that operator has constant characteristics. This significantly distorts the results obtained in this way, since human is a part of the system with special properties that can change together with the predisposition of the operator and the conditions under which he operates. These attributes may have a major influence on the reliability of the systems. Therefore, analysis of systems reliability should include a reliability of operator and its properties. In this paper presented the antropotechnical reliability structure based on selected installation, which is a part of ships propulsion system. Also operator’s functions were defined and the analysis of human reliability, taking into account various properties of the operator and the external conditions, were performed. Then, there is assessed the influence of operator and environmental factors on the value of the entire system reliability. The study used the reliability data of the container ship propulsion system equipped with low-speed piston engine, fixed pitch propeller and auxiliary installations. These data were obtained from studies of expert judgments (Brandowski A., Frąckowiak W. et al.) in the years 2007–2009. For HRA (human reliability analysis), HEART technique (Human Error Assessment and Reduction Technique) was used, together with the human unreliability values and correction factors developed by the authors of this method. Study results illustrate influence of environmental, ergonomic factors and the properties of the operator on the reliability of the antropotechnical systems. The studies were subjected exemplification on fuel treatment installation as a part of ships propulsion systems.

This contribution discusses the usefulness of (max, +) algebra as a mathematical framework for a class of manufacturing systems. This class can be described as dynamic and asynchronous, where the state transitions are initiated by events that occur at di screte instants of time. An event corresponds to the start or the end of an activity. Such systems are known as discrete event systems (DES). An overview of the concepts of modelling and analysis using the (max, +) algebra approach to DES has been given. Also, examples of manufacturing systems have been provided to illustrate the potential of this approach. The type of production process used, such as serial line, assembly line, etc., influences the modelling of different basic manufacturing systems. We have also presented the impact of the capacity of interoperable buffers. Based on an analytical model, effectiveness and performance indexes have been evaluated.

In order to ensure the safe operation of electromagnetic suspension (EMS) maglev trains, it is necessary to pay attention to the control loop performance of the suspension system. The suspension system with closed-loop control is tuned to achieve excellent performance at its early stage of operation. After running for a period of time, the control loop may encounter problems e.g., degraded operation, and paralysis may occur in severe cases. In order to quantify the control performance of the suspension system in an explicable manner, this paper proposed a data-driven control loop performance evaluation method based on fractal analysis, which does not require any external sensors and can be applied without data source restrictions such as dimension, volume and resolution. The control loop performances of such suspension systems were monitored, analysed, and evaluated by cross-sectional study, based on the field data of a commercial operation line in the commissioning stage. Furthermore, the track condition was revealed by capturing performance changes of the suspension system running on different guideway girders. The results demonstrate that the proposed method enables early warning of the degeneration of the suspension systems and the track.

The worldwide competitive economy, the increase in sustainable issue and investment of new production line is demanding companies to choose the right machine from the available ones. An improper selection can negatively affect the overall performance of the manufacturing system like productivity, quality, cost and companys responsive manufacturing capabilities. Thus, selecting the right machine is desirable and substantial for the company to sustain competitive in the market. The ultimate objective of this paper is to formulate a framework for machining strategy and also provide methodology for selecting machine tool from two special purpose machine tools in consideration of interaction of attributes. A decision support system for the selection of machine tool is developed. It evaluates the performance of the machining process and enhances the manufacturer (decision maker) to select the machine with respect to the performance and the pre-chosen criteria. Case study was conducted in a manufacturing company. A system dynamics modelling and simulation techniques is demonstrated towards efficient selection of machine tool that satisfy the future requirement of engine-block production.

Opis:
Studies linking the use of lean practices to company performance have been increasing as markets are becoming more competitive and companies are eager for reducing waste and therefore implementing the Lean Management (LM) philosophy to improve performance. However, results from these studies have found various and different impacts and some light is needed. Extant literature was reviewed and, to achieve the research objective, a metaanalysis of correlations was carried out. The obtained results suggest a positive relationship between some lean practices and performance measures. Furthermore, the presence of moderators influencing the relationship between lean practices and performance outcomes is highlighted in our results. To our best knowledge, this is the first research that proposes a comparison of results from primary studies on Lean implementation, by analysing the linear relationship between lean practices and enterprise performance. It fills this gap and therefore represents an important contribution.

Our society is on the brink of health care system reorganization and implementation of new medical technology. Hospitals have to be a core component of the medical revolution so they have to be prepared for the upcoming leap in their development. If Poland wants to be a pioneer in providing new medical solutions, the current ineffective system has to be changed. The necessary action should be taken to deal with the financial problems Polish hospitals have faced for over 20 years. The current structure of hospitals - SPZOZ, is old-fashioned and cannot adapt to a turbulent social and economic environment. The hospitals should be commercialized and restructured. Being capitalized companies will give incentives and new tools to deal with financial problems. The article presents an example of the commercialized hospital in Łańcut. We make the observations that commercialization increases: a hospital’s profitability, its employment productivity, its capital investment spending and leverage. The case proves that the transformation of hospitals to capital companies proposed by the Ministry of Health may be an appropriate approach and it does work once a reasonable management board is in charge. However, the legal structure alteration should be treated as the first step in the overall restructuring process. The article highlights the problem of managers of Polish hospitals who do not only struggle with financial shortages, but barely know which business model they should follow after commercialization to successfully run the restructuring process. Having examined the LMC the authors are crafting a prelude to the overall research on already commercialized hospitals to find an appropriate business model.

The article presents the results of short-term performance of small AISIN GECC60A2N cogeneration heat and power (CHP) unit classified to the micro-cogeneration. Electric and heat generation efficiency has been assumed as parameters characterizing the operation of the CHP unit. Under test electrical efficiency reach about 23% and thermal efficiency about 44%. Overall efficiency reached about 67%. bArticle also includes a brief description of the hydraulic and electrical system of CHP unit.
W artykule przedstawiono krótkookresowe wyniki pomiarów sprawności małej jednostki kogeneracyjnej AISIN GECC60A2N zaklasyfikowanej do mikrokogeneracji (μCHP). Sprawność wytwarzania energii elektrycznej i ciepła została przyjęta jako parametry charakteryzujące pracę układu kogeneracyjnego. Rzeczywista sprawność elektryczna osiąga wartość około 23%, a sprawność cieplna – wartość około 44%. Sprawność całkowita osiągnęła 67%. Artykuł zawiera krótki opis układu hydraulicznego i elektrycznego jednostki kogeneracyjnej.

Vulnerability of a transportation network influences, importantly, the function of public service systems constituted on the network. To be able to study the importance of an individual network arc for proper functionality of the system, we suggested a characteristic function of the arc transit time elongation together with its upper and lower estimations. We also suggested and verified an algorithm that enables the determination of parameters of the characteristic estimation, and we provide a reader with a computational study performed with real road networks.

The paper presents important probabilistic elements that should be taken into consideration in the analysis of performance of classical multiprocessor systems. These elements represent the following quantities: modified arrival rate for processor requests and a few probabilities, which determine the frequency of certain events when a multiprocessor system is working. There are four peculiar events: service of another job, existence of the queue, a processor request while the given task is waiting into the queue and the return of another task into the queue while the given task is waiting in the queue. The first three events happen more often when a system consists of less number of processors, whereas the fourth event happens more often when more processors work in a system. Including (or not) the probabilities of these events to the analysis of performance of multiprocessor systems exerts its much influence on the precision of computations. All the mentioned quantities were described in detail. Formulas for these quantities were derived. Examples of applications of the formulas to the prediction of performance of various multiprocessor systems were presented.

Currently, the demand of accounting information system increasing due to its high influence on the organizational performance and emerging area to be investigate. Thus, the current article aims to examine the role of accounting information system on the performance management of the petroleum industry in Iraq. The leading contribution of the petroleum industry in the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country and extensive use of accounting information has enhanced the need for investigation of this emerging area. The data has been collected from the financial statements of the ten petroleum companies of Iraq that are the most prominent contributor in GDP form year 2001 to 2018, and STATA has been used for analysis. The results show that information accounting system has positively linked with the performance of the management. These findings provide the guidelines to the policymakers that they should focus on the system of accounting information that enhances organizational performance.
Obecnie zapotrzebowanie na system informacji księgowej rośnie ze względu na jego duży wpływ na wyniki organizacji i rozwijający się obszar do zbadania. Zatem niniejszy artykuł ma na celu zbadanie roli systemu informacji rachunkowej w zarządzaniu wydajnością przemysłu naftowego w Iraku. Wiodący wkład przemysłu naftowego w produkt krajowy brutto (PKB) kraju i szerokie wykorzystanie informacji księgowych zwiększyło potrzebę zbadania tego wschodzącego obszaru. Dane zostały zebrane ze sprawozdań finansowych dziesięciu spółek naftowych w Iraku, które są najbardziej znaczącym źródłem PKB w latach 2001-2018, a do analizy wykorzystano STATA. Wyniki pokazują, że system rachunkowości informacyjnej jest pozytywnie powiązany z wynikami kierownictwa. Ustalenia te dostarczają decydentom wytycznych, jak powinni się skupić na systemie informacji księgowych, który poprawia wydajność organizacji.

Alongside the increase in air traffic and number of aircraft, the number of reported aviation events has also been increasing. We processed the data included in the European Coordination Centre for Aviation Incident Reporting Systems (RCCAIRS), analyzing small and large aircraft reliability and the safety of their operations, covering events according to ICAO aviation occurrence categories. Airframe systems are the largest contributor to the total number of reported events which occurred in Polish registered aircraft in the years 2008-2020. A detailed study of airframe systems reliability was carried out in order to assess the real reason for the failures. Airframe systems faults were assigned to specific ATA chapters and then to each of their sections. The results of this analysis may support the decisions of supervisory authorities in the areas where security threats are most important. They can also help aircraft operators with identification of the airframe units which require special attention. Identification of significant parts due to the frequency of malfunctions of particular system components may support designers. In short, these results are valuable in terms of further developments in statistical tools facilitating New Product Introduction (NPI).

The reliability of folding wing deployment performance greatly impacts flight vehicle reliability. Based on the dynamic analysis theory, the deployment dynamic model of folding wing mechanism with joint clearances is established and solved. Considering the failure correlation, the system reliability models are developed for both cases, without considering synchronization and considering synchronization. For the former, a solution method combining saddle point approximation and numerical integration is proposed. For the latter, an estimation method based on a combination of the fourth order moment Pearson distribution family and the numerical integration is proposed. The efficiency and accuracy of the proposed methods are verified through examples. In addition, the trend of the system reliability change when the distribution parameters of random variables are different is also analyzed. From the perspective of improving reliability, the above study can provide theoretical guidance and data support for the design, manufacturing and service process of the folding wing mechanism system.

The objective of this project is to conduct a comparative analysis of the performance of selected versions of the Linux and Windows operating systems using specific performance tests. Subsequently, the superior performance outcomes in the given scenario will be evaluated. To ensure the dependability of the results, software that is compatible with both platforms and offers identical tests for the chosen systems will be employed. Additionally, a virtual environment in which both operating systems will be executed using the VirtualBox software. This approach will allow the performance of both systems to be evaluated and contrasted under the same conditions. All examinations and their corresponding results will be included in this study as visual documentation.

Opis:
The article refers to a valid and current research area, which is the role of information technology (IT) in the formation of business sustainability (BS). The main objective of this article is to identify the role of IT in shaping sustainable organization in the context of different, partly conflicting, approaches to BS and empirical verification of the proposed theoretical framework. The article describes key differences between BS approaches in case cognitive logic (reductionist versus integrative logic) and axiological (individualistic-egoistic versus holistic-altruistic axiology) distinction. Theoretical role of IT in shaping integrative logic for BS is identified and presented. The proposed theoretical concept is empirically verified. The verification is based on empirical studies conducted in 400 SMEs operating in Poland in 2017.

Opis:
In the study, the functional safety of the hydraulic drive control system of a tracked undercarriage used as a mobile platform for a robotic bricklaying system (RBS) was evaluated. Hazards and risks caused by the hydraulic drive control system of the rubber track undercarriage were identified. The schematic diagram and main components of the conventional hydraulic drive control system of a tracked undercarriage are presented. The functions and parameters of the components of the hydraulic power and control system are discussed. In a conventional hydraulic drive, the safety function is fulfilled by failsafe brakes built into the hydraulic motors. To ensure that the RBS works safely on the construction site, it was necessary to introduce an advanced safe control system for the hydraulic drive of the tracked undercarriage. An advanced safe control system for the hydraulic drive of the tracked undercarriage includes hydraulic control valves with safety functions, a category 3 safe two-channel control architecture, and a safety microcontroller. SISTEMA software tools were utilized to determine safety functions and calculate their specifications. Based on the specifications of the safety function associated with the category of safety control architecture, the achievable performance level of the hydraulic drive control system for the tracked chassis was determined.

Opis:
The article demonstrates how to analyze the performance of an integration platform created using different frameworks. The paper contains a set of integration platform performance metrics. In the manuscript a justification of the frameworks selection is included as well. The article contains a description of a business case, which was implemented on the integration platform with selected frameworks. The article also encompasses the description of the test environment and an analysis of performance test results.
W artykule przedstawiono sposób badania wydajności platformy integracyjnej utworzonej przy wykorzystaniu różnych środowisk. Artykuł zawiera opis metryk wydajności platformy integracyjnej. Analizie poddano także zakres narzędzi wspierających projektowanie rozpatrywanych rozwiązań. Artykuł zawiera opis przypadku biznesowego implementowanego na platformie integracyjnej. Przedstawiono w nim także konfigurację środowiska testowego oraz dokonano analizy wyników badań wydajnościowych.

Opis:
When meeting customer demand, utility companies must consider power quality. Currently, the industrial power network in general and the underground mine power network in particular have long feeder lines, supplying power to many nonlinear loads and power electronic converters, which reduces power quality. Poor power quality can damage sensitive equipment and lead to costly repairs, leading to lost time, data corruption, and lower productivity. In this paper, a fuzzy system is developed to determine the power quality of the power network for different operating conditions and study its influence on the performance of the explosion-proof transformer in the underground mine power network in Vietnam. The simulations and calculations were performed on Matlab-Simulink software for a three-phase, 630-kVA, 6/1.2 kV explosion-proof transformer in power networks with variable power quality. A fuzzy system is developed with four measurable inputs, including frequency deviation, voltage unbalance factor, total harmonic distortion of supply voltage, total harmonic distortion of current, and an output variable, power quality. The simulation results show that the explosion-proof transformer's performance decreases when the power quality degrades, and the proposed fuzzy system can accurately diagnose this.

Opis:
Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a critical indicator of technological progress in recent years. The present study uses AI to enhance the efficiency of a hybrid system that operates on renewable energy sources. The hybrid system we propose consists of a wind energy conversion system (WECS), a photovoltaic system (PVS), a battery storage system (BSS) and electronic power converters. AI manages these converters cleverly. We use the maximum power point tracking (MPPT)-based fuzzy logic controller (FLC) to regulate the boost converter in the PVS and the WECS. We propose an adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)-based controller to control the bidirectional converter of the storage system. The design of this module intends to maintain voltage stability on the direct current (DC) bus and improve energy quality. We study and simulate this system using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results of this research show that the FLC-MPPT technique outperforms the Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm in terms of efficiency in power production. The console we propose also shows good results in maintaining the voltage stability in the DC bus in comparison with the proportional integral (PI) controller. This paper has the potential to contribute to the development of environmentally friendly resource performance.

In this paper, a new approach regarding a reconfigured system is proposed to improve the performance of an active fault tolerant control system. The system performance is evaluated with an intelligent index of performance. The reconfiguration mechanism is based on a model predictive controller and reference trajectory management techniques. When an actuator fault occurs in the system, a new degraded reference trajectory is generated and the controller calculates new admissible controls. A constraint set and cost function are established to avoid actuator saturation and reduce the control energy spent in closed loop dynamics. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated using a hydrothermal system subject to actuator faults and constraints on actuator dynamic ranges.

Opis:
A new approach to manage actuator redundancy in the presence of faults is proposed based on reliability indicators and a reference governor. The aim is to preserve the health of the actuators and the availability of the system both in the nominal behavior and in the presence of actuator faults. The use of reference governor control allocation is a solution to distribute the control efforts among a redundant set of actuators. In a degraded situation, a reconfigured control allocation strategy is proposed based on on-line re-estimation of the actuator reliability. A benefit of incorporating reliability indicators into over-actuated control system design is the smart management of the redundant actuators and improvement of the system safety. Moreover, when the fault is severe, an adaptation approach using the reference governor is proposed. The reference governor unit is a reference-offset governor based on a discrete-time predictive control strategy. The idea is to modify the reference according to the system constraints, which become stricter after the occurrence of an actuator fault. The proposed approach is illustrated with a flight control application.

It was proposed a method of comparative estimation of process control loops based on a complex of direct and indirect performance measurers taking into account stability margins. It was presented a comparison algorithm for complex performance parameter considering the influence of stability margins of a control loop on its properties. Features of the method of comparative estimation of process control systems performance have been considered as an example for the closed loop feedback control system with PI controller (4 variations) and the second order plus transport delay plant.
Zaproponowano metodę porównawczej oceny układów automatycznego sterowania procesami w oparciu o zbiór bezpośrednich i pośrednich wskaźników jakości, biorąc pod uwagę zapas stabilności. Został również przedstawiony algorytm porównania wg. złożonego parametru jakości, z uwzględnieniem wpływ zapasu stabilności układu regulacji na jego właściwości. Cechy charakterystyczne metody porównawczej oceny jakości układów regulacji zostały omówione na przykładzie zamkniętego układu sterowania z regulatorem PI (4 waianty) i obiektem regulacji drugiego rzędu z opóźnieniem transportowym.

Speech recognition enables the transformation of spoken words and sentences into text in digital form. This technology is a subject of numerous studies and commercial development for many years. The aim of this paper is to examine performance issues of speech recognition and to manage the development in this field. Thorough analysis of performance limitations of speech recognition systems we identified main 11 issues to overcome. They indicate the direction of managing development of speech recognition systems.
Rozpoznawanie mowy umożliwia przekształcanie wypowiadanych słów i zdań w tekst w formie cyfrowej. Technologia ta jest od wielu lat przedmiotem licznych badań naukowych oraz komercyjnych. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zbadanie zagadnień dotyczących wydajności systemów rozpoznawania mowy i zarządzanie rozwojem tych systemów. Dogłębna analiza w zakresie ograniczeń wydajnościowych systemów rozpoznawania mowy pozwoliła na zidentyfikowanie problemów, które trzeba przezwyciężyć. Wskazują one kierunek zmian w zarządzaniu rozwojem systemów rozpoznawania mowy.

Celem opracowania jest zidentyfikowanie takich ewentualnych powiązań pomiędzy systemem budżetowym Unii Europejskiej a systemem budżetowym Polski, które miałyby wymiar pragmatyczny. Wymiar pragmatyczny jest tu rozumiany jako determinacja (przez ramy funkcjonalne UE) odnosząca się do któregokolwiek etapu budżetowania, a więc taka relacja, w której – choćby pośrednio – elementy logiki „zadaniowej” budżetu Unii (jeżeli taka byłaby stwierdzona) wpływałyby na system planowania budżetowego Polski w ten sposób, że nabrałby on cech „zadaniowości”, postrzeganej jako częściowe albo całkowite oparcie logiki budżetu państwa na regułach właściwych budżetowi zadaniowemu. Zakłada to istotne otwarcie systemowe na unijny system planowania budżetowego, w którym także należałoby stwierdzić elementy logiki zadaniowej.
The article is intended to identify potential relations between the budget system of the European Union and the budget system of Poland that would have a pragmatic dimension. The budget planning system is here understood as determined basically by the legal regulations, and established in order to support the planning function of all public policies, or the majority of them, by entrusting this managerial function with a financial dimension. The article focuses on the fundamental features of the budget planning system of the state and the European Union. The analysis has been made with two serious reservations. The first one is the difference between the budget planning system of the states and that of the Union – since their very budgets are related to different – as for the nature, scope and portfolio – planned or potentially planned public policies. This is due to the limited competence of the EU and the universal nature of the states. The other reservation is that the two budget systems compared have significant structural differences. The Union’s budget is unified, while the budgets of some EU states, especially that of Poland, are currently far from this standard. Therefore the assessment of anything referring to the relation of one of the budgets with the other must be limited to the elements that the scope of the state budget covers in the given state.

An event-triggered adaptive control algorithm is proposed for cooperative tracking control of high-order nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) with prescribed performance and full-state constraints. The algorithm combines dynamic surface technology and the backstepping recursive design method, with radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) used to approximate the unknown nonlinearity. The barrier Lyapunov function and finite-time stability theory are employed to prove that all agent states are semi-globally uniform and ultimately bounded, with the tracking error converging to a bounded neighborhood of zero in a finite time. Numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

In 2020 several member states initiated at IMO forum (NCSR subcommittee) a process to create a single set of generic performance standards consolidating all existing performance standards for shipborne satellite navigation system receiver equipment without creating any new requirements. After over 4 years the resultant generic framework for GNSS/RNSS subsystems has not been adopted yet and awaits further amendments. Analysis of the proposed standards with stress on harmonization issues of the existing, IMO recognized, global and regional navigation satellite systems and the expected impact of these generic standards of satellite navigation receivers on the maritime user are presented in this paper. Additionally the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats awaiting maritime or shipborne GNSS/RNSS equipment standardization process are outlined in the paper.

Although there currently exists a wide range of voltage regulators that are commercially available, the search for devices with a simpler physical design remains the focus of research studies. Following this line, an electromagnetic voltage regulator (EVR) arrangement has been proposed. The EVR is constituted of an autotransformer that supplies, via discrete taps, a series transformer that injects voltage for regulating the feeder voltage. Even though its operating principle is shown as being similar to that of other devices on the market, the physical arrangement and operating strategy of EVR show novelties which result in properties such as: economic attractiveness, constructive simplicity, and operational reliability. Moreover, when installing voltage regulators, efficacy studies must be carried out to optimize equipment design. In this context, this paper aims at evaluating the factors that influence the effectiveness of the EVR in restoring voltage variations according to the determinations imposed by regulatory agencies. The ultimate goal of this study is to determine the voltage deviation range that the EVR is able to restore. To achieve this goal, a mathematical modeling of the EVR is given and study cases are computationally carried out to investigate its performance when connected to a typical distribution feeder.

The basic metrological problem analyzed in this article is the experimental determination of the COP coefficient for arefrigerating system working in a stationary cooling chamber. This issue is because manufacturers of chillers provide the value of this coefficient in device technicaldata.In practice, after installing the refrigeration unit, the COP is often lower. The paper presents amethod of balancing cooling energy for a complete refrigeration system.
Podstawowym problemem metrologicznym, który autorzy pragną przedstawić jest eksperymentalne wyznaczenie współczynnika COP dla układu chłodniczego, pracującego w stacjonarnej komorze chłodniczej. Zagadnienie to jest istotne, ponieważ producenci agregatów chłodniczych najczęściej podają współczynnik COP dla agregatu chłodniczego. W praktyce po zamontowaniu agregatu chłodniczego w komorze chłodniczej współczynnik COP jest niejednokrotnie niższy. Trudność z wyznaczeniem współczynnika COP w układzie chłodniczym polega na koniczności zbilansowania mocy chłodniczej dla całego układu wraz z komorą chłodniczą. W pracy przedstawiono sposób bilansowania energii chłodniczej dla kompletnego układu chłodniczego oraz opisano budowę stanowiska do wyznaczania współczynnika COP.

Opis:
The main goal of this paper is to analyze the impact of the 2008 global financial crisis on the Ukrainian financial system and on Ukrainian banks’ performance. Our analysis is based on key bank performance indicators from 2003-2011. Bank assets, liabilities and capital are analyzed, and changes in bank management are taken into consideration. Special attention is paid to changes in bank stock prices of two of the largest banks, prior to and following the crisis.

Opis:
The logistics industry today is well developed. The efficient movement of goods, people, and information is a crucial link in each supply chain and the entire logistics system. For systems to function effectively, they must be properly assessed, compared, and analyzed. Therefore, there are many different indicators, both simple and complex. The purpose of this article is to review these indicators and conduct a comparative analysis for a selected indicator, the LPI (Logistics Performance Index), which measures logistics performance. The subjects of the study are European Union countries. Multivariate comparative analysis was used for the study.
Branża logistyczna współcześnie rozwija się bardzo dynamicznie. Sprawne przepływy towarów, osób i informacji są bardzo istotnym ogniwem każdego łańcucha dostaw i całego systemu logistycznego. Aby systemy mogły funkcjonować efektywnie, należy je odpowiednio oceniać, porównywać, jak i analizować. W tym celu istnieje wiele różnorodnych wskaźników, zarówno prostych i złożonych. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest dokonanie przeglądu tychże wskaźników, a także przeprowadzenie analizy porównawczej dla wybranego wskaźnika mierzącego poziom rozwoju systemu logistycznego (LPI − Logistics Performance Index). Podmiotem badania są kraje Unii Europejskiej. Do analiz wykorzystano metody wielowymiarowej analizy porównawczej.

The main problems in the operation of UGS are associated with the security operation that requires continuous environmental monitoring. Monitoring should be carried out over the parameters of operation of UGS and environmental indicators. From positions of logistic approach their relationship should be analyzed within a single system. This will effectively set the abnormal deviations and make timely corrective action to operational parameters.
Głównym problemem w operacji podziemnego zgazowania węgla jest bezpieczeństwo jej przeprowadzenia, które wymaga ciągłego monitorowania środowiska przebiegu tego procesu. Monitorowanie powinno być podejmowane zgodnie z parametrami UGS i wskaźnikami środowiskowymi. W podejściu logistycznym wzajemne powiazanie tych parametrów powinno być analizowane w ramach pojedynczego systemu, co pozwoli skutecznie zapobiegać nieprawidłowym odchyleniom i sprawi, że cała operacja będzie przebiegała zgodnie z harmonogramem i założonymi parametrami operacyjnymi.

The health systems’ assessment has been troubling many a specialist from the field of management. A variety of factors determining their function makes it a difficult task, but there are many different ways and methods to measure their effectiveness today. The presented study is therefore an attempt to describe one of these measures, but the main aim is to analyse the current Polish health policy for next years and to answer the question to which extent the objectives of the sector refer to needs of the system detected by the measurement.

Opis:
The study of the paper aims to present a solar power plant performances and economic benefits of 16.28 kWp grid-tied solar PV systems under the real outdoor conditions of Ghardaïa, located in semi-arid area of the Algeria desert. The main goal of this study is to investigate the effectiveness, suitability, feasibility and reliably of these plants on the level of desert areas and under the influence of harsh conditions (desert environment) in the first part. In the second part, the contribution of solar PV plant to conventional networks in the arid and semi-arid environment to assess the rate of integration. Based on experimental measurement data, the paper also shows economic benefits of three photovoltaic plants. It was found that from the first January to last August 2019, the total produced energy by all PV arrays was 171.422 MWh which supplied to the internal grid and while, the consumed energy by the URAER unit was 159,094 kWh. Approximately 10, 95 % of the 159,094 MWh energy consumed in the whole year is provided from the generated PV solar energy that is 17,422 MWh. The total energy fed to the internal grid has grown from 27 MWh in 05/04/2018 to a maximum of 67.28 MWh recorded in 31/10/2019. The rate of integration of solar energy by all PV arrays in the internal network of the URAER varied between 6, 60% in January and 22, 96% in April. The integration of this renewable energy generation into the local grid in the URAER unit considered satisfactory over this period of operation. From the first January to last August 2019, the cost of electrical energy produced by solar plants is 2090,64 euro(277706,68 Algerian dinars) while the cost of energy consumed by the Applied Research Unit in renewable energies is 4772,82 euro(664853,826 Algerian dinars).

Opis:
We introduce a novel fractional order adaptive control design based on the tube model reference adaptive control (TMRAC) scheme for a class of fractional order linear systems. By considering an adaptive state feedback control configuration, the main idea is to replace the classical reference model with a single predetermined trajectory by a fractional order performance tube guidance model allowing a set of admissible trajectories. Besides, an optimization problem is formulated to compute an on-line correction control signal within specified bounds in order to update the system performance while minimizing a control cost criterion. The asymptotic stability of the closed loop fractional order control system is demonstrated using an extension of the Lyapunov direct method. The dynamical performance of the fractional order tube model reference adaptive control (FOTMRAC) is compared with the standard fractional order model reference adaptive control (FOMRAC) strategy, and the simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

After a decade-long evolution, the use of coal for energy production is growing again. Carbon is still an important source of energy in Europe, covering about one-fourth of electricity production. There are plans to open around 50 new coal-fired power plants. But the continued use of coal has a price, we pay all, mainly with our health can be affected by excessive environmental pollution Today more and more emphasis on the concept of „green economy” that should be reflected in improving people’s lives through effective management of environmental issues and reducing environmental risks Thus, through the present paper we aim to highlight those aspects that would allow the improvement of the environmental performance of coal-fired power plants in Romania by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Environmental Management System (EMS) as a component of the Integrated Management System along with the Quality, Health and Safety Management System . We start from the premise that the development and implementation of an effective and efficient environmental management system (EMS) becomes a priority for all companies in the field , especially since their activities based on coal burning , are considered among the most polluting.
Po trwającej lata ewolucji wykorzystanie węgla do produkcji energii ponownie rośnie. Węgiel jest nadal ważnym źródłem energii w Europie, pokrywając około jednej czwartej produkcji energii elektrycznej. Istnieją plany otwarcia około 50 nowych elektrowni węglowych. Ale energetyczne wykorzystanie węgla ma swoją cenę, płacimy głównie naszym zdrowiem wskutek nadmiernego za- nieczyszczenia środowiska. Obecnie coraz większy nacisk kładzie się na koncepcję „zielonej gospodarki”, która powinna znaleźć odzwierciedlenie w poprawie życia ludzi poprzez skuteczne zarządzanie środowiskowe i zmniejszanie zagrożeń środowiskowych. W artykule przedstawiono aspektów, które mogą pozwolić na poprawę efektywności środowiskowej elektrowni węglowych w Rumunii poprzez poprawę wydajności i skuteczności Systemu Zarządzania Środowiskowego (EMS) jako elementu Zintegrowanego Systemu Zarządzania wraz z Systemem Zarządzania Jakością i Bezpieczeństwem. Przyjęto założenie, że opracowanie i wdrożenie skutecznego i wydajnego systemu zarządzania środowiskiem (EMS) staje się priorytetem dla wszystkich firm w tej dziedzinie, zwłaszcza że ich działalność oparta na spalaniu węgla jest uważana za najbardziej zanieczyszczającą środowisko.

The current status of EGNOS (December 2006) is described as Initial Operations Phase and the EGNOS Open Service is just about to be formally declared as available for non-safety of life service. In meanwhile the EGNOS Signal in Space is provided almost in its nominal level and delivering, when available, the nominal system performance. New positioning technologies, such as EGNOS in Europe, create a new quality in marine navigation and bring further improvement of the maritime transport safety. It may be expected that very soon EGNOS will find significant interest among the maritime community serving as the augmentation system in the maritime transport applications of GNSS. The paper discusses the EGNOS status and the expected EGNOS performance in the context of marine navigation requirements. The system performance analysis is backed with the study of the various field tests results where the EGNOS positioning performance was verified by author in the experimental way.
