Opis:
A large number of different tags, limited corpora and the free word order are the main causes of low accuracy of tagging in Polish (automatic disambiguation of morphological descriptions) by applying commonly used techniques based on stochastic modeling. In the paper the rule-based architecture of the TaKIPI Polish tagger combining handwritten and automatically extracted rules is presented. The possibilities of optimization of its parameters and component are discussed, including the possibility of using different methods of rules extraction, than C4.5 Decision Trees applied initially. The main goal of this paper is to explore a range of promising rule-based classifiers and investigate their impact on the accuracy of tagging. Simple techniques of combing classifiers are also tested. The performed experiments have shown that even a simple combination of different classifiers can increase the tagger's accuracy by almost one percent.

Transformer-based part-of-speech tagging and lemmatization for Latin

Opis:
The paper presents a submission to the EvaLatin 2022 shared task. Our system places first for lemmatization, part-of-speech and morphological tagging in both closed and open modalities. The results for cross-genre and cross-time sub-tasks show that the system handles the diachronic and diastratic variation of Latin. The architecture employs state-of-the-art transformer models. For part-of-speech and morphological tagging, we use XLM-RoBERTa large, while for lemmatization a ByT5 small model was employed. The paper features a thorough discussion of part-of-speech and lemmatization errors which shows how the system performance may be improved for Classical, Medieval and Neo-Latin texts.

Opis:
Various studies have indicated that children’s preferences are biased towards those who have more resources or who are considered more fortunate than others. Little is known, however, about whether this preference translates to a moral assessment of the character of those with more or less resources. Our study included 46 children aged four to five. We asked participants to indicate their preference for the richer and the poorer in desirable resources. We also asked them to attribute the moral character of the moral agent or moral recipient. The children revealed a strong bias towards the advantaged character. Not only did they prefer him as a future friend, they also attributed morally positive social roles to him.

Opis:
The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons, often referred to as quark/gluon tagging, plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider, as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced background. This paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration, using $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the ATLAS experiment. Two taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied: one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet, and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree. A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data, by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet pseudorapidity. Differences in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Opis:
Nowadays, it is common to find on the Internet different conversational robots which interact with users simulating a natural language conversation. Among them, we can emphasize the chatterbots based on AIML language. In this paper we present an AIML based chatterbot that shows as its main contribution the use of tags and folksonomies. Thanks to its use, we can generate a context for each conversation, being able to maintain a state for each user in the system, and improving the adaptation capabilities of the bot.

Tagging Scientific Publications using Wikipedia and Natural Language Processing Tools. Comparison on the ArXiv Dataset

Opis:
In this work, we compare two simple methods of tagging scientific publications with labels reflecting their content. As a first source of labels Wikipedia is employed, second label set is constructed from the noun phrases occurring in the analyzed corpus. We examine the statistical properties and the effectiveness of both approaches on the dataset consisting of abstracts from 0.7 million of scientific documents deposited in the ArXiv preprint collection. We believe that obtained tags can be later on applied as useful document features in various machine learning tasks (document similarity, clustering, topic modelling, etc.).

KRNNT : Polish recurrent neural network tagger extended
Autorzy:
Wróbel, Krzysztof
Wydawca:
Springer
Opis:
The article presents a state-of-the-art complete part-of-speech tagger for Polish which uses recurrent neural networks. The networks allow accessing the full left and right context of a sentence in comparison to a context window. The tagger uses an external morphological analyzer. In comparison to the best Polish taggers, it does not use word form as a feature for the classifier, there is no separate classifier for unknown words, and predictions are not limited to tags provided by a morphological analyzer. The accuracy is higher - it achieves 28% error reduction and 7% points higher accuracy for unknown words. The tagger also might work faster than others by utilizing GPU. The tagger participated in PolEval 2017 POS Tagging competition and won task B and task C. Additionally, results for PolEval 2020 Morphosyntactic tagging of Middle, New and Modern Polish are reported. The paper is an extension of the Language & Technology Conference paper.

Określanie lokalizacji użytkownika wewnątrz budynku na podstawie sygnałów sieci Wi-Fi
Determining the users location inside the building based on Wi-Fi network signals
Autorzy:
Dunaj, Piotr
Opis:
The purpose of the following dissertation is to develop an Android mobile application for determining the user’s current location inside the building of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science at the Jagiellonian University. The created application tries to determine the user’s current location inside the faculty’s building based on the signal strength of the nearby Wi-Fi networks and visualizes the most likely location on the building plan. OpenStreetMap Simple Indoor Tagging was used to create the building plan. The mobile application was written in Java and Android API.
Do zapisu danych o budynku wydziału skorzystano z OpenStreetMap Simple Indoor Tagging. Aplikacja została napisana w języku Java oraz Android API.
