Różnorodność paradygmatów dydaktyki akademickiej : o potrzebie komplementarności podejść
The plurality of academic didactics paradigms : on the need for complementarity of approaches
Autorzy:
Sajdak-Burska, Anna
Opis:
This paper refers to the concept of interdisciplinary nature of academic didactics as a field of social sciences which uses knowledge and results derived from educational sciences, psychology, philosophy, sociology and didactics specific to particular subjects. It was pointed out that considerations on the teaching practice in all the scientific disciplines constitute another source of knowledge in the field of academic didactics. Diversity of theoretical and methodological approaches is determined by science-specific and discipline-specific research methodology paradigms, diversified teaching culture dependent on environmental conditions as well as diversified teaching class patters for students which are often specific to an educational profile. The issue addressed in this paper is whether there is a single didactical paradigm that would unify approaches so different in terms of theory and practice. The paper provides a map of academic didactics paradigms, description of difficulties related to paradigmatic translations as well as lack of consent to multiparadigm approach and issues with interferences and shifts between paradigms. Despite the existing difficulties suggestion is made to promote complementary attitude to various approaches. It is supported by the concept of relations between the assumed academic didactics effects and teaching strategies that lead thereto, which are constituted by different teaching and learning patterns.

Opis:
In this article, the interviewee first explains the three main challenges to her in language teaching nowadays, and then analyses what role the task-based language teaching could have in times of pandemic. The question of distance teaching is also raised and the interviewee explains how the task-based language teaching could be less efficient and what consequences such a distance teaching might have on the teacher/learners relationship or on the psychological impact it could have. The interview ends on the possible positive aspects of distance teaching and advice from the interviewee to teachers beginning in the profession.

Most teachers ask if there is a “best” – known way to teach. The most effective teaching method depends on the specific course objectives and the pupils’ needs. The paper presents research that was carried out to analyze a relation between the problem solving and the traditional teaching method. The research was done as a pedagogical experiment of parallel groups with a randomly chosen sample of sixth and eighth grade pupils. The obtained results were treated statistically. The comparison showed a significant difference in respect of the speed of acquiring knowledge, proving that problem-solving teaching is more advantageous than the traditional method.

Opis:
To find a more effective teaching method, the acceptance of migrant brides from China, Vietnam, and Japan of Korean history was investigated using the survey method. Four types of teaching methods were investigated. Before participating in the survey, migrant brides from Vietnam preferred the cramming teaching method (CTM), and those from China and Japan favored an audiovisual teaching method (ATM). However, after experiencing four types of teaching methods for a week—the CTM, ATM, comparative-history teaching method (CHTM), and discussion teaching method (DTM)—participants from Vietnam indicated the highest preference for ATM, whereas those from Japan and China preferred CHTM. Ultimately, this study demonstrated that a comparative-history teaching method is most effective for teaching migrant brides from countries with a history of recurrent cultural conflicts with Korea.

Opis:
The purpose of this study was to explore the degree of Confucian awareness among Korean university students, and to develop more effective education measures. Before the experiment, Korean university students preferred a cramming teaching method (CTM) and an audiovisual teaching method (ATM). After observing four education methods such as the CTM, the discussion teaching method (DTM), the mixed teaching method of cramming and discussion (MTM), and the audiovisual teaching method (ATM) over two weeks, however, the study found that freshmen and sophomore students prefer the MTM, while junior and senior students prefer the DTM. This implies that the preferred teaching method for Korean university students is the CTM when the level of Confucian awareness is high, but as the level of awareness is reduced, the method progresses to DTM through MTM. In other words, it could be found that different methods of education need to be employed depending on the degree of identified Confucian-style values of students.

The paper aims to define a workable model of good pedagogy for the purpose of evaluation of university teaching based on student ratings. Firstly, it reviews definitions of effective teaching and ways of measuring it. Then, the model of good pedagogy selected for its suitability for evaluation by university student ratings is introduced (Webb & Vallero, 2017). The next part of the study examines data from student evaluation of university subjects to determine the elements of good pedagogy most relevant to the learners in that particular educational context. Finally, the paper proposes a new model for the purpose of evaluation of good university teaching based on student ratings.

Opis:
The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of the use of educational software in the classroom on certain communication models that are applied in teaching. The survey, conducted among 232 students of the Faculty of Education – future teachers, determined their view on the effectiveness of different communication models in teaching. When it comes to teaching without the use of educational software, the communication model of traditional teaching was rated as the most ineffective. However, in the respondents’ opinions, the disadvantages of this model can be eliminated through the appropriate use of educational software. The survey also found that other communication models in teaching can become more effective through the use of educational software. The survey results clearly show that future teachers are fully aware of the advantages that the use of educational software brings.

Opis:
The author points an urgent issue of insufficient, or even non-existent, systemic preparation of academic teacher to run courses with students and to support his or her professional development. This paper presents the concept of the Center of Excellence for Academic Teaching and Learning - Ars Docendi UJ which aims at meeting needs of not only the young scientists but also academic teachers at every stage of professional teacher development. First, the question of supporting academic teachers' teaching competence development is put in the context of academic teaching tasks redefinition. Then the author provides justification for the thesis of necessity to establish interdisciplinary teams for teaching competence enhancement within universities and discusses the need to initiate diversified actions to support academic teaching far more beyond the standard courses for young academic teachers. These various areas of interest are important background to present what the Center of Excellence for Academic Teaching and Learning - Ars Docendi at the Jagiellonian University actually does.

Opis:
In this study, “Self-Efficacy Belief Scale in Science Teaching” was used, which was developed by Enochs and Riggs (1990). The study was designed based on experimental design with pretest-posttest control group. The scale was applied to 78 pre-service teachers enrolled at the 3rd grade of Niğde University Faculty of Education Department of Elementary Education as a pretest before the implementation and as a posttest after the implementation. It was found that technology based teaching materials were effective on science teaching self-efficacy beliefs of pre-service elementary teachers only as much as the teaching materials designed by teachers.
