Opis:: The main idea of this article is an overview and analysis of the technological innovations in the insurance industry. First of all, the authors have characterised the driving factors of innovative development in the insurance industry. Secondly, the innovation in the financial sector was described as an invention and as an adoption. The main part of the paper was based on an overview of the use of technological innovations (such as software, analytics, sensors, algorithmic) for the effective insurance value chain. At the end, the authors have made a SWOT-analysis of the technological innovations.

Opis:: The innovative activity of machine-building enterprises is the main guarantee of their sustainable and effective development, which makes it possible to compare technical and technological innovation in the production of products in different periods and between different enterprises in points. Quantitative numerical assessment of the innovative component of the enterprise is a prerequisite for developing a strategy for further effective production management. After all, in addition to financial performance indicators, technical innovations play a decisive role in the modern market environment, although little attention is paid to them. In the work, based on organizational and technical modeling and logical methods of exploratory evaluation, the author’s method of establishing a quantitative comparative level of innovative activity of a machine-building enterprise was built. The developed methodology for evaluating the innovative component of machine-building production is based on three basic criteria: mastering new machines, mastering technological processes, and the effectiveness of implementing design and technological solutions. The first two criteria take into account the nomenclature, novelty, the risk of introducing a new solution and the technical level of products. To determine these criteria, several levels of novelty of machines and technologies are proposed and the author’s understanding of their content is given. The third criterion, the effectiveness of implementation, is evaluated by indicators that take into account the intensity of adjustments at various stages of design. The result of the study is a method of comparative assessment of the level of innovative components of the development of machine-building production with a set of indicators that provide professionals with a tool for monitoring the processes of introducing new equipment and technologies into production and the subsequent formation of an effective innovative strategy for the development of a machine-building enterprise. The capability of the proposed methodology is presented in the given example of evaluating the innovative development (state) of an abstract machine-building enterprise.

The article will attempt at creating a model with recommendations on how to use innovation management as a determinant for community development. Practical implications will include some proposals for community authorities regarding areas that should undergo significant transformations to ensure community development. The work adopted the following research hypothesis - the implementation of non-technological innovation affects the development of municipalities.

Nowadays in digital age many financial institutions decide to cooperate with FinTech entities. Such decision allows them to create brand new products and improve those in their pipeline. However financial market is not always ready for such innovations. With scarce and vague regulations, FinTech sector is not always able to guarantee the safety of consumers’ fundsand FinTech entities may in the worst case scenario not be allowed to function on financial market. Therefore all actions leading to stable regulations are deemed especially important.The aim of this article is to present the chosen regulations of this sector and assess whether they are sufficient.

Setting up and running a startup company in Poland on the example of Glaze Prostetics

Pozyskane informacje zostały wzbogacone analiządanych dotyczących polskiego rynku startupów w latach 2017-2019. Szczególnemu badaniupoddane zostały kwestie związane z finansowaniem działalności oraz pozyskiwaniem kapitałuna prowadzenie własnej firmy. Na podstawie zebranych danych można stwierdzić, żezakładanie działalności startupowej jest z roku na rok coraz bardziej upraszczane, a poziomprzedsiębiorczości wśród Polaków stale rośnie. Co więcej, dzięki korzystnymuwarunkowaniom prawnym, Polska nazywana jest startupowym centrum Europy.
The aim of this study is to examine and evaluate the process of setting up and running a startup business, considering the conditions of the Polish economy. The first three chapters aretheoretical basis. In order to analyse in detail, the process of setting up a business and itssubsequent development, the co-founder of Glaze Prosthetics was interviewed. The acquiredinformation was enriched by the analysis of data on the Polish start-up market in 2017-2019.The issues related to financing of operations and raising capital for running a business wereparticularly studied. Based on the collected data, it can be concluded that starting up a start-upbusiness is becoming more and more simplified every year, and the level of entrepreneurshipamong Poles is constantly growing. What's more, thanks to the favourable legal conditions,Poland is called the start-up centre of Europe.

Opis:: Research background: The current changes in the global stock markets are related to the next wave of the industrial revolution ?Industry 4.0?. It is expected that the Industry 4.0 will lead to an acceleration of the innovation process and growth of volumes of tailor-made products. The stock markets started to react to the upcoming technological changes over the last decade, which are reflected by the changes in the composition of the major stock indices where the technological sector started to grow in importance. But innovations are not only connected with the specialized technological sector, but they are also of direct concern to the whole spectrum of economic entities. Besides the private investments that are usually allocated via the stock market, also the public sector investments play an important role. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between government expenditures on research and development (R&D) and stock markets (and GDP) in the US and in Germany. Methods: We use the tools of descriptive analysis as well as correlation and regression methods of estimation. Findings & Value added: Our research confirms that the collection of data on R&D on annual basis for Germany and the US is insufficient for analytical and systemic management purposes. The real effects of investments in the R&D are time lagged. The regression analysis of annual data confirms only the statistical importance of patent applications as well as interest rate and stock index as independent variables in explanation of variability of real economy growth during the 1985?2017 period. Our model did not prove the significance of government expenditures. We can explain it, among others, by the fact that governments do not pay sufficient attention to the challenges yet, which are associated with the Industry 4.0, especially in the US, where the government expenditures in R&D gradually decrease. The governments in both economies try to increase their support, but fiscal sustainability is a limiting factor.

Opis:: Research background The commitment of manufacturers in research and development activities (R&D) and the realization of technological innovations have become effective means of stimulating economic growth. Purpose The objective of this research is to diagnose R&D activities and innovations within agri-food companies in Morocco that are engaged in the processing of food products by studying the determinants of technological innovations related to product and process within these companies. Research methodology A statistical survey was conducted on a sample of 50 agri-food companies, employing a generalized linear model (GLM) with a probit model belonging to the quasi-binomial family. Results The econometric analysis of the collected data revealed the presence of complementarity between product innovation and process innovation, as well as differences in the determinants of these two categories of innovations within the studied companies. The determinants are related to the business environment, R&D activity and partnerships, human resource management in teams, technological infrastructure, and market demand. Novelty This research enriches the literature by examining the determinants of technological innovations (both in terms of products and processes) in the agri-food sector in Morocco. Industry professionals can benefit from the results of this research, which will enable them to better understand the levers of innovation in this field. This information can be used to guide their innovation strategies, identify new opportunities and improve their overall performance.

Opis:: In recent years heating in Poland has been transformed as a result of the priorities of the country's energy policy implemented within the European Union. The increase in energy security, the development of renewable energy sources and the fulfilment of legal and environmental requirements are very important. Exploitation of district heating systems should ensure reliable and safe heat supplies for industrial and municipal customers with high energy efficiency and reduction of environmental impact. The article discusses the conditions and directions of centralized heating systems development as well as technical and economic issues, which are important for the security of heat supply. The Author describes selected technological innovations used in the technical infrastructure for heat transfer and modern IT systems which are improving the management of heating systems. The article includes the results of simulation research with use of IT tools showing the impact of selected innovations on the improvement of network operation conditions. Directions of modernization of heating systems in the aspect of increasing energy efficiency and security of heat supply have also been indicted here.
