Opis:: Technology transfer (TT) through university-industry research collaborations is one of the key factors for successful innovation processes. Taking into account country and industry related specifics, this paper examines and analyses motivations and mechanisms of TT in the German energy sector as well as factors that facilitate and hamper these processes based on 24 qualitative semi-structured interviews of company and research participants conducted in 2012. Building on the evaluation of the study results, specific patterns of TT are derived and practical recommendations for university and industry management as well as political stakeholders are developed.
Transfer technologii wynikający ze współpracy jednostek badawczych i przemysłu jest jednym z kluczowych czynników decydujących o sukcesie procesów innowacji. Biorąc pod uwagę specyfikę gospodarki i przemysłu niemieckiego, autorzy dokonali analizy motywacji i mechanizmów transferu technologii charakterystycznych dla niemieckiego sektora energetycznego, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem stymulant i barier występujących w tym procesie. Analizą objęto 24 przedstawicieli przedsiębiorstw i sektora B+R zaangażowanych w transfer technologii. Ocena wyników pozwoliła na wskazanie wzorców transferu technologii i opracowanie rekomendacji dla środowiska naukowego oraz przedstawicieli przemysłu i decydentów rządowych.

Opis:: The paper discusses the relationship between vertical and horizontal technology transfer and firms innovativeness. The main aim of the survey is to determine the relationship between vertical and horizontal technology transfer and innovativeness in surveyed enterprises, what has been investigated empirically. The specific objectives of the article relate to examining which specific dimensions of vertical and horizontal technology transfer influence firms innovativeness positively and which are the most important channels of vertical and horizontal technology transfer in firms innovativeness. The study is based on a survey on firms (n = 100) located in Poland. Data was collected during 100 interviews with managers of randomly selected companies. The article first establishes the research framework, then deduces the research hypotheses and finally describes the analysis tools, sample structure and statistical methods. The study uses a soft modelling method which allows for measuring and analysis of the relationships among unobserved variables (latent variables) – vertical technology transfer, horizontal technology transfer and innovativeness. The surveys have determined positive relationship between both vertical and horizontal technology transfer and innovativeness of the research sample. A strong direct effect on the innovativeness of the firms surveyed has different channels in the case of horizontal and vertical technology transfer, considering the importance of the entity (firm or scientific unit) the technology is transferred from. These findings suggest that measurement of both vertical and horizontal technology transfer and their channels should be developed further as they are important factors for firms innovativeness and competitiveness.
Głównym celem autorki jest określenie zależności między pionowym i poziomym transferem technologii a innowacyjnością wybranych w ramach badania przedsiębiorstw. Szczegółowe cele artykułu dotyczą określenia, które z wymiarów pionowego i poziomego transferu technologii wpływają pozytywnie na innowacyjność firm, a które spośród kanałów transferu technologii są najistotniejsze dla innowacyjności w badanych przedsiębiorstwach. Badanie oparte zostało na próbie (n = 100) przedsiębiorstw zlokalizowanych na terenie Polski. Dane empiryczne zebrane zostały podczas 100 wywiadów przeprowadzonych z wybranymi losowo menedżerami przedsiębiorstw. W pierwszej części artykułu ustanowione zostały ramy, a następnie hipotezy badawcze, aby w dalszej części określić narzędzia badawcze, strukturę próby badawczej i metody statystyczne. W ramach badania zastosowane zostało modelowanie miękkie, które umożliwia pomiar oraz analizę związków między zmiennymi nieobserwowalnymi (zmiennymi ukrytymi) – pionowym transferem technologii, poziomym transferem technologii i innowacyjnością. Przeprowadzona analiza wskazała na silny związek zarówno między pionowym, jak i poziomym transferem technologii a innowacyjnością w badanej próbie przedsiębiorstw. Istnieje silny bezpośredni wpływ wybranych kanałów transferu technologii – różnych kanałów w przypadku pionowego i poziomego transferu technologii w zależności od podmiotu (przedsiębiorstwo czy jednostka naukowa), z jakiego technologia jest transferowana na innowacyjność badanych firm. Uzyskane wyniki sugerują, że pomiar pionowego i poziomego transferu technologii, jak również specyfika poszczególnych kanałów powinny być dalej zgłębiane, jako że stanowią one ważny element w uzyskiwaniu wyższego poziomu innowacyjności przed firmy, co również przekłada się na ich konkurencyjność.

Opis:: Strong competition among entrepreneurs forces them to use innovation as the main source of competitive superiority. Dominating role of innovation – the factor of development - forces individual firms to search for the capability of widest use of innovation in their activity. Innovation is a result of specific process, which links up operations like presenting an idea of innovation and implementation of new solution. Proficient management of implementing the innovation process becomes important in creating innovativeness of the company. In order to be able to compete, firms must introduce new technologies, products, services and organizational systems. Nowadays innovation activity driving at bringing new products, processes, new organizational and marketing methods out is one of the most important conditions of firm market success. The paper discusses the concepts of innovativeness and analyses the theoretical conditions for its development, as well as the existing conditions for innovativeness of industrial enterprises in contemporary Poland. The objective of this paper is an analysis of statistical data (GUS) related to technology transfer of industrial entrepreneurs and its influence on innovativeness of firm. This analysis examines the efficiency of innovation activity in Polish industrial companies.

Opis:: Knowledge exchange and technology transfer, which includes the commercialisation of research results, have been a regular feature of the higher education and science ecosystem for years. The collaboration between scientists and representations of the socio-economic environment, even if unnamed and unacknowledged, invigorates and enriches the work of all process participants. At the same time, these are processes and activities that always require the inflow, analysis, collection and use of a lot of information at each stage. This article indicates not only what types of information are necessary for the effective transfer of university innovations, but also where processes participants, in particular employees of technology transfer centres, entities responsible for business science cooperation, obtain this information from.
Wymiana wiedzy i transfer technologii, których wyrazem może być komercjalizacja rezultatów badań naukowych, od lat są stałym elementem ekosystemu szkolnictwa wyższego i nauki. Współpraca naukowców z przedstawieniami otoczenia społeczno-gospodarczego, nawet jeśli nienazwana i nieuświadomienia, ożywia i wzbogaca pracę wszystkich uczestników procesu. Jednocześnie są to procesy i aktywności, które zawsze wymagają dopływu, analizy, gromadzenia i wykorzystania wielu informacji na każdym etapie. W artykule wskazano nie tylko jakie informacje są niezbędna dla skutecznego transferu uczelnianych innowacji, ale też skąd uczestnicy procesów, w szczególności pracownicy centrów transferu technologii, jednostek uczelnianych odpowiedzialnych za współpracę z otoczeniem społeczno-gospodarczym, je pozyskują.

Opis:: The recent years have seen increasing interest in the issues of technology transfer, as a result of which, in numerous countries, including Spain, research on models of R&D and industry cooperation has become widely promoted. The development of optimal models of technology transfer aims at the support of R&D commercialisation processes and enhances industrial implementation of innovative products and technologies. One of the common mechanisms of technology transfer and commercialisation of research results is the creation of spin-off companies. In this article, the author identifies the technology transfer mechanisms and structures supporting the spin off processes in the Spanish public R&D and the business sector alike. Different models of spin-off creation models are presented, and legal regulations and national initiatives supporting commercialisation of research results through the application of this particular mechanism are discussed.
W ostatnich latach w wielu państwach, w tym również w Hiszpanii, trwają prace nad rozwojem najbardziej odpowiedniego modelu współpracy między przedsiębiorstwami i środowiskiem nauki. W efekcie tych prac wprowadza się zmiany, których celem jest wspieranie komercjalizacji wyników badań naukowych i wprowadzania na rynek innowacyjnych produktów i technologii. Jednym z mechanizmów realizowania tego procesu jest tworzenie spółek typu spin-off. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest identyfikacja stosowanych w Hiszpanii mechanizmów i struktur wspierania tworzenia i funkcjonowania spółek opartych na wiedzy, zarówno tworzonych przez publiczne instytucje naukowe, jak i tych tworzonych w sektorze prywatnym. W artykule zaprezentowano modele tworzenia i funkcjonowania spółek typu spin-off na bazie obowiązujących regulacji prawnych oraz ważne, zdaniem autora, inicjatywy wspierania tworzenia firm typu spin-off w Hiszpanii.

Opis:: Up until now, most technology transfer activities have been carried out on trial-and-error basis. However, recent studies have emerged to provide scientifically-based guides for technology transfer in recognition of the fact that technology transfer is important for global advancement. Along with these studies, this research aims to present a systematic methodology, called the Four Rationales of Technology Transfer, for identifying the risks of technology transfer. This methodology is derived from an empirical study conducted on 50 recently-implemented technology transfer projects. With the proposal of the methodology of Four Rationales of Technology Transfer and the presentation of the results of the empirical study, it is the hope of this research that future activities of technology transfer will become more successful.
