Opis:: Giddens constructed the sociological theory using the legacy of sociological thought. Since the mid 1970’s this sociologist has elaborated his very concept of the “duality of structure” which sounded very illuminating. Multiplicity of theoretical orientations, which had been the subject of an analytical processing, became the departure point for drawing up a new theoretical system. The cognitive value of the concept system proposed by A. Giddens is significant. The originality of Gidden’s decisionsand the theoretical identity in the assumptions that specify the structure, in a way emphasized by the creator of the structuration theory, certainly directs critics’ interest to the agreements concerning the acting subject. Quite often, they make their position more precise after following through the continuity and changes of A. Giddens’ thoughts presented in his later works.

This article aims to propose the concept of entrepreneurship as a process of becoming. The article presents preliminary results of conceptual research to build the theoretical foundation for future empirical research in entrepreneurship and innovation. The article uses the results of the analysis of these social theories that capture the social reality as existing only in constant motion, in constant change, which corresponds extremely well with the nature of entrepreneurship.

Opis:: Artykuł powstał jako kontynuacja studiów literatury poświęconych teoriom audytu wewnętrznego. Jego celem jest uzupełnienie luki w polskiej literaturze naukowej poprzez prezentację wybranych teorii audytu wewnętrznego. W artykule zostały opisane następujące teorie: strukturacji, interesariuszy, służebności, uwarunkowań sytuacyjnych, legitymizacji, behawioralna teoria firmy, aktora-sieci, przedsiębiorcza F. Knighta. W podsumowaniu wskazano problemy (pytania) badawcze wynikające z przyjęcia każdej z tych teorii jako podstawy badań empirycznych nad audytem wewnętrznym. Przyjęcie różnych teorii, nawet pozornie niezwiązanych z danym zjawiskiem społeczno-ekonomicznym, umożliwia postrzeganie go z różnych punktów widzenia, odkrywanie nowych znaczeń i zależności. Niniejszy artykuł należy zatem uznać za zachętę do wieloaspektowego rozpatrywania problematyki audytu wewnętrznego i inspirację do badań nad jego istotą i funkcjonowaniem.

Opis:: In this paper the author presents some part of her own research conducted in the Netherlands and aimed at knowing the career counsellors role in society and local communities. The author argues that it is useful for researcher to make use of the theory of structuration by Anthony Giddens to interpret the collected data. This theory allows researcher to interpret both actions of an individual as well the social and cultural contexts of these actions. In the article the role of career counsellors working for private counselling office has been presented as an example of the way of using the theory of structuration. While indicating the rules of acting and the moments of reflexive monitoring of action by counsellors, which are some of the crucial elements/concepts in structuration theory, the author presents the analysis based on this theory. As the results show, the social role of career counsellors seems to be complex and based on many cultural factors.

Opis:: W artykule podjęto problem potencjalnych obszarów wdrażania innowacji społecznych przez gminne ośrodki pomocy społecznej. Innowacje te zdefiniowano jako zmiany w sfe-rze rozwiązywania problemów społecznych polegające na wprowadzaniu alternatywnych, w stosunku do dominujących, praktyk społecznych. Nawiązując do teorii strukturacji Anthony'ego Giddensa, zaproponowano autorski model analizy powstawania innowacji społecznych. Zaprezentowano także — wybrane ze względu na temat artykułu — wyniki badań empirycznych zrealizowanych w okresie od lutego do marca 2017 roku na obsza¬rze gmin wiejskich województwa łódzkiego w ramach projektu badawczego pt. Lokalne systemy innowacji społecznych na wsi (finansowanego ze środków Narodowego Centrum Nauki). W artykule wykorzystano informacje uzyskane w trakcie 19 wywiadów swobodnych z kierowniczkami gminnych ośrodków pomocy społecznej. Traktując pracę socjalną jako możliwy i pożądany obszar wdrażania innowacji społecznych, analizie poddano sformu¬łowane przez respondentów oceny zrutynizowanych praktyk działania ośrodków pomocy społecznej oraz przykłady stosowania przez pracowników tych instytucji działań niety¬powych, odbiegających od standardowych procedur. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych analiz wyszczególniono trzy odmienne typy nietypowych praktyk działania pracowników pomocy społecznej.
The article discusses the issue of potential areas where social innovations can be implemented by communal social welfare centers. The innovations were defined as changes in the sphere of solving social problems with the introduction of social practices alternative to the dominant ones. With reference to the structuration theory by Anthony Giddens, an original model of analysis of social innovation development is proposed in the article. It also presents the relevant findings of empirical research carried out in February and March 2017 within rural communes of Łódzkie Province as part of the research project ‘Local social innovation systems in rural areas'. Information obtained during 19 free-form interviews with managers of communal social welfare centers was used in the article. With the assumption that social welfare is a possible and desirable area of introducing social innovations, the respondents' assessments of routine practices of social welfare centers and examples of their workers applying atypical (different from standard procedures) activities were analyzed. Three different types of unconventional practices of social welfare centers' workers were identified on the basis of the analyses.

Opis:: The author makes a comparative analysis of the views in sociology of the dilemmas between agency and the social structure that shapes it (in Giddens’s formulation) and on the dilemma between objectivism and subjectivism in approaching reality (in P. Bordieu’s formulation). Both these theoreticians agree in recognizing these dilemmas-antinomies as merely apparent and false ones. Both Giddens and Bourdieu declare abandoning controversy on the „nature” of the individual and society in the form of the dichotomy: agency-structure, or the dilemma: objectivism-subjectivism, and making the investigations of social practices, that is of real social behaviors and agency, the subject of sociological studies. For study reasons they define the individual–man in a neutral way as an „acting subject”, „social actor”, and the social collective–social group, term as a „collective actor” and „group subject”. Analysis of social practices that are ordered in time and space made by Giddens shows that individuals-subjects undertake and reproduce routine and strategic actions and they are guided by p r a c t i c a l c o n s c i o u s n e s s, comprising both knowledge and control of their agency. They monitor their behavior. They (subjects) are characterized by selfreflexiveness (Giddens) or habitus as a set of dispositions inclining social actors to respond and act in a definite way in a given situation (Bourdieu). Hence they are characterized by self r e g u l a t i o n. The agency happens in a certain connection with the structure. The structure comprises a set of institutionalized rules–ways and significant codes of behavior as well as resources, the so-called allocation and authority resources (Giddens) with the help of which the agency is done. Hence agency as actions and structure as „the means” of agency constitute a duality, that is divided only analytically. Duality is the main thesis of the structuration theory formulated by Giddens. Structure in Bourdieu’s formulation is characterized by objectivity; it is interiorized by individuals and is subjectivized by individuals in the course of upbringing and being exposed in the biographical course of life, but then it is also subjected to externalization in the shape of reproduction of agencies, construing new or modified agencies, new forms of organizations, behavior patterns or professed values and recognized norms. These processes or „mechanism”: of subjectivization of objectivity and objectivization of in a way processed subjectivity are defined as „theory of structural constructivism. With a little different understandings of „structure” and in a little different ways both authors solve – as it appears – apparent dilemmas. To define super-individual social wholes in which individuals occur in social life Giddens introduces the concepts of social system and of society conceding the attribute of subjectiveness to them. On the other hand, Bourdieu rejects this definition and leaves the study of the network of relations – various kinds of relations occurring between individuals, that is the so-called interhuman spaces, and of the symbolic fields it consists of, that are various and differentiated spheres of actions, interests-values which individuals enter with an adequate „capital” and compete with one another in the „symbolic struggle” for their interests-values. Authority and subjectivity of an individual. Authority is the domination occurring between people in social life. The sources of authority lie in the differences in resources (of allocations and authority) that individuals or societies-states have at their disposal (Giddens). Authority has a s y m b o l i c character, it is conferred with the help of proper rituals and if it is in some way respected, it derives its validity from that fact; otherwise it is a symbolic violence. The state is a self-validating monopolist of symbolic violence (Bourdieu). In the synthetic conclusion both authors express the view that all structural conditions preserve and respect t h e s u b j e c t i v i t y o f t h e i n d i v i d u a l’s agency, since limiting some they liberate other agencies and make them possible (Gidden), and the habitus gives a possibility of different behaviors in immediate social situations and of recognizing and considering objective historical structural conditions in the activity of social subjects (Bourdieu).

Opis:: This study is about the exploration of innovative management control systems in the context of New Public Management (NPM) initiatives. NPM initiatives created the changes to the structure and processes of public sector organizations with the objective of getting them to run better. A government department in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has been selected as the field for investigation. This study draws on a single theoretical perspective, Giddens’s structuration theory to understand the management control systems evolved in the researched organization. Qualitative research methodology is applied to obtain a better understanding of the phenomena. Case-based research method is used in developing a complete understanding of the relative role of controls in the management of organizational performance. In this study, it is argued that the researched organization has adopted various management control tools to improve its performance and demonstrate transparency and accountability. Some of the control tools it has adopted are the innovations in the public sector. It appears from the case that these adopted management control tools forced the researched organization towards better performance supporting the rationale of adopting New Public Management practices.

Opis:: Praca podejmuje temat dostępu kobiet do liturgicznej służby ołtarza. Celem pracy jest analiza sytuacji kobiet, które chcą podjąć służbę ministrancką. Autorka próbuje odpowiedzieć jakie czynniki ułatwiają, a jakie utrudniają kobietom podjęcie służby przy ołtarzu oraz jak wygląda służba ministrantek. Do opisania tych zjawisk zostały użyte teoria strukturacji Anthony’ego Giddensa i pojęcie sprawstwa podmiotowego. Szczególna uwaga została poświęcona pojęciom dualności struktury, działaniom, świadomości i refleksyjności oraz różnym definicjom sprawczości z uwzględnieniem sprawstwa duchowego. Autorka chcąc odpowiedzieć na postawione pytania przeprowadziła badania jakościowe z wykorzystaniem techniki wywiadów swobodnych. Zostało przeprowadzonych 12 wywiadów na terenie jednej z polskich diecezji rzymskokatolickich.
The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of women's access to the altar service. The aim of the study is to analyse the situation of women who want to take up altar service. The author tries to answer which factors facilitate and which hinder women from taking up the service at the altar and what the service of female altar servers looks like. Anthony Giddens's theory of structuration and the concept of subjective agency were used to describe these phenomena. Particular attention was paid to the notions of duality of structure, actions, awareness and reflection, as well as various definitions of agency, including spiritual agency. The author, wanting to answer the questions posed, conducted qualitative research using the technique of semi-structured interviews. 12 interviews were conducted in one of the Polish Roman Catholic dioceses.
