Opis:: Dealing with texts may mean using various research methods. The present paper discusses two such methodological approaches: text analysis and text interpretation. It is concerned, initially theoretically, with the question how these approaches can be explained from the text-linguistics point of view and separated from each other. After that a short text material is used to illustrate the thesis that analyzing and interpreting texts are two different forms of dealing with texts.

Opis:: Public space more and more often makes use of multimodal texts, combining in them both linguistic and graphic-picture elements. The present article constitutes an attempt at a linguistic analysis of multimodal texts described on the example of city logos. The economization of perception as well as the willingness to present a given city in a way that is attractive for the recipient cause that this kind of text that a logo is, evolves continually. Simultaneously, logo still remains a whole which is coherent in functional and semantic terms and that, in turn, entitles it to be treated in terms of a semiotically arranged visual plane.

Opis:: The article is dedicated to the problem of conceptions of polytext, of foundation of its notional nature. Polytext is defined as a row of marked by associative and semantic community in the spheres of author (creator, compiler), code, context, addressee of autonomous word texts which in the cultural practice actually or potentionally are represented as integral (whole and unique), dynamic, multumeasured, dissipative conceptual and semantic product, completely sub- mitted to the principle of centration. Polytext is an integral, polystylistic, polygenre, polysubject formation. The inner aspect of integrity of polytext is connected with mechanisms which ensure its ‘internal life’, determine processes making senses. Sources of conceptions of polytext are in the works by A. Potebnya, D. Ovsyaniko-Kulikovsky, A. Veselovsky, V. Ivanov, A. Belyi, M. Bahtin, G. Gukovsky and others. The interest to the theory of polytext was initiated by Y. Lotman, Z. Mints, V. Toporov and others. The cycle is a subtype of polytext.

Opis:: The present paper involves a textlinguistic‑codicological analysis and attempts to identify the specific features of the Polish administrative language in the entries of the 19th c. parish register from the town of Busko‑Zdrój. The aim of the study is to answer the question as to whether the examined annotations can be regarded as a pattern of a parish register record, and henceforth as a text type. The author investigates the structure and characteristics of different register entries, with research field determined by the general structure and functionfunction of parish register records and annotations of these records.

Opis:: Niniejsza praca stanowi wgląd w językoznawcze badanie tekstów, typów tekstów i ich funkcji. Podane w pierwszym rozdziale definicje tekstu podzielone są na trzy grupy: podejście transfrastyczne, komunikacyjno-pragmatyczne i kognitywne. Objaśnienia funkcji tekstu i typu tekstu przedstawiono w następnych częściach rozdziału.W rozdziale drugim przedstawiono szereg modeli klasyfikacji typów tekstów. Można więc stwierdzić, że określenie najlepszego podejścia do analizy tekstów jest niezwykle trudne. Wspomniane podziały są bardzo zróżnicowane. Warto jednak pamiętać, że w kontekście niniejszej pracy zajęto się jedynie niewielką częścią ogromnego wachlarza modeli stosowanych do identyfikacji typów tekstów.W kolejnym (trzecim) rozdziale podjęto próbę analizy typów tekstów. Zbadane zostały trzy przykłady tekstów (reklama, prognoza pogody i przemówienie). Zostało to przeprowadzone według różnych modeli. Szczególną uwagę w analizie zwrócono na fakt, że złożoność klasyfikacji typów tekstów pozwala na bardzo dokładne ich zbadanie.
This thesis provides an insight into the linguistic study of texts, text types and text functions. The definitions of text given in the first chapter are divided into three groups: transphrastic approaches, communicative-pragmatic and cognitive approaches. Explanations of text function and text type are provided subsequently.The second chapter introduces a number of models for text type classification. Thus, it can be argued that it is extremely difficult to determine the best approach to the analysis of texts. These classifications vary widely. It should be born in mind, however, that in the context of this work only a small part of the large range of models for text type classification is dealt with.The next (third) chapter attempts to analyse text types. Three text examples (advertisement, weather report and speech) were examined. This was carried out according to various models. Special attention was paid in the analysis to the fact that the complexity of these text type classifications allows for a highly accurate scrutiny.
Die vorliegende Arbeit vermittelt eine Einsicht in die linguistische Beschreibung von Texten, Textsorten und Textfunktionen. Die im ersten Kapitel gegebenen Definitionen von Text werden in drei Gruppen unterteilt: transphrastische Ansätze, kommunikativ-pragmatische und kognitive Ansätze. Anschließend werden Erklärungen zu Textfunktion und Textsorte gegeben.Im zweiten Kapitel wird eine Reihe von Modellen zur Textsortenklassifikation vorgestellt. Es lässt sich also sagen, dass es äußerst schwierig ist, den besten Ansatz für die Analyse von Texten zu bestimmen. Diese Klassifizierungen weisen große Unterschiede auf. Dabei ist jedoch zu bedenken, dass im Rahmen dieser Arbeit nur ein kleiner Teil der großen Vielfalt an Modellen zur Textsortenklassifikation behandelt wird.Das nächste (dritte) Kapitel behandelt die Analyse von Textsorten. Es wurden drei Textbeispiele (Werbung, Wetterbericht und Rede) untersucht. Dies wurde nach verschiedenen Konzepten durchgeführt. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde bei der Analyse darauf gelegt, dass die Komplexität dieser Textsorten-Klassifizierungen eine sehr genaue Betrachtung zulässt.

Opis:: In dem Beitrag werden die Anfänge von Vertragstexten untersucht. Nach einer Bestimmung dieser Textsorte als eigenständige Textsorte, in der Willenserklärungen von Vertragsparteien das wichtigste Merkmal sind, werden die Funktionen von Vertragstexten auf der Grundlage von sprechakttheoretischen Ansätzen bestimmt: Es wird gezeigt, dass Verträge Texte sind, in denen kommissive und zugleich deklarative Sprechakte vollzogen werden und sie somit als inhärent performativ zu betrachten sind. Die Untersuchung zeigt, dass in den untersuchten Texten ein klarer Textanfang festzustellen ist (Überschrift und Nennung der Vertragsparteien), und dass den Vertragstexten inhärente Performativität auch am Textanfang zu finden ist: durch die Nennung der Vertragspartner sowie die Feststellung, dass die Vertragsparteien den kataphorisch markierten Vertrag schließen. Es konnte in dem Beitrag auch gezeigt werden, dass die Bestimmung und die Abgrenzung des Textanfangs in den Vertragstexten relativ einfach sind, weil die Texte an sich und auch ihre Anfänge sehr stark formalisiert, bzw. konventionalisiert sind.

Opis:: The paper deals with the role of multilingualism in selected text types. The reflections on forms of multilingualism and occasions for using multiple languages in a text lead to the creation of a typologythat distinguishes between obligatory and optional use of multiple languages in text types. The obligatory multilingualism is constitutive in dictionaries, textbooks and teaching materials. Optional multilingualism, which was examined using the example of German advertising texts and grave inscriptions from Germany and Denmark, reinforces the main function of the text.

Opis:: Der Beitrag versucht eine Antwort zu geben auf die Frage nach dem Gegenstand medienlinguistischer Forschung. Nimmt man an, dass jeder Text als ein multimodales Konstrukt zu betrachten ist und dass die Medienlinguistik sich vorwiegend mit medialen Texten befasst, wird, von diesen Annahmen ausgehend, darüber nachgedacht, wann ein Medienlinguist andere als verbale Bestände – also visuelle oder akustische – analysieren soll. Mit diesen Überlegungen geht eine Reflexion über die Textgrenzen einher, darunter auch über die gattungsspezifischen Voraussetzungen für das Setzen dieser Grenzen, mit Berücksichtigung der paratextuellen, metatextuellen und hypertextuellen Beziehungen, sowie über die Prozessualität der Textrezeption und die Verankerung des Textes im Diskurs.
