Opis:
The experiments conducted in a didactic laboratory of the Kielce University of Technology involved temperature distribution measurements on the outer surface of a steel radiator using a thermal imaging camera and thermocouples to compare both investigation methods. The research included registering the parameters for a specific period for each of the four different medium flows. Graphs present the results with the division of the radiator into eight thermal fields. The results present the differences in temperatures between 1.78°C to 3.65°C. The non-contact method with an infrared camera seems more accurate since it is precise for surface temperature measurement.

This article focuses on data analyses and comparisons for aluminium nanopowders (or nanoaluminium, nAl) reactions under slow (0.5-20.0 K/min, using DTA/DSC/TGA) and fast (>10000 K/min, combustion in solid propellant formulations) non-isothermal oxidation. Particle sizes were defined through the BET method. Active Al content was related with the averaged reactivity parameters, taken from published DTA/DSC/TGA data. The specific oxidation onset temperature for nAl was poorly correlated with the BET particle size under the conditions investigated. Furthermore, the BET particle size exhibited no correlation with the observed ballistic response (burning rate) at 3.0 MPa. A logarithmic correlation y = 17.484 ln(x) – 5813, with R² = 0.73, was found between nAl particle size and its aluminium content. A calibration equation for the oxidation onset temperature as a function of nAl particle size was determined as y = −0.0071x2 + 3.3173x + 479.32, with R² = 0.75. Specific features of the nAl (metallic aluminum content in nAl and the oxidation onset temperature) can be predicted based on the measured powder parameters (such as BET particle size).

Opis:
The thermal decomposition kinetics of hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane/ ammonium perchlorate (HNIW/AP) have been investigated by thermogravimetrydifferential scanning calorimetry-mass spectrometry (TG-DSC-MS) simultaneous analysis. TG showed that there were three weight loss processes for the thermal decomposition of the HNIW/AP mixture. The first was ascribed mainly to the thermal decomposition of HNIW, while the second and third were assigned to that of AP. The presence of AP has little effect on the thermal decomposition process of the HNIW component. The apparent activation energy of the thermal decomposition of the HNIW component, calculated by the Kissinger method, was little changed compared to that of neat HNIW. The addition of HNIW to AP caused the onset and end temperatures of the thermal decomposition to be decreased and the decomposition process to be shortened. The high-temperature and lowtemperature decomposition processes of AP became blurred in the presence of HNIW, and this was supported by the MS results.

With the use of the differential thermal analysis (DTA), studies of the phase transitions were conducted for 90 of alloys from the quaternary Bi-In-Sn-Zn system and for the constant ratio of Bi:In and Bi:Sn. The studies were conducted for the alloys prepared from the purity metals (Bi, In, Sn, Zn = 99.999 mas. %) by way of melting in a graphite crucible in a glove-box filled with Ar, in which the impurities level was less than 0.1 ppm. After melting and thorough mixing, the liquid alloys were poured out into a graphite test mold. The phase transition temperature data obtained from the DTA investigations were next confronted with those determined from the calculations based on the binary and ternary optimized thermodynamic parameters available in the literature. It was found that the experimental and the calculated phase transition temperatures were in good agreement.

Opis:
The internal combustion engine should be rated for the thermal loads that come from different sources. Thermal analysis is important both for design purposes and for evaluating the conditions of its use. Very good results are obtained by a combination of non-invasive measurement techniques, such as research using infrared thermal imaging techniques [3, 11]. The purpose of the study was to determine the engine thermal load by evaluating the average temperature on the outside surface of the engine at many of its points for two selected motorcycle engines with similar displacement capacities. For many reasons, such as ecology, durability, engine strength and thermal performance when heating and cooling are critical. To accomplish this task, a thermographic technique for indirect evaluation has been used, thus creating the possibility of measuring the temperature in a dynamic manner. These are accurate measurements and most importantly do not interfere with the construction of the object under investigation. The engine was tested during operation according to external and load characteristics. As a result of the work, graphs of temperature curves of heating and cooling of the tested engines were compiled. The article presents a methodology for measuring the temperature fields of outer surface engines. The collected material will be used in the future for studying the equable load on the cylinders, and as accurately as possible determine the conditions of movement such as power, revolutions, flow rates, temperatures and pressures.

These days, most machine tools are interlocked by an enclosure for safety control. At that time, internal heat generation in machine tools first causes thermal deformation of the machine structure, which reduces the machining accuracy of the workpiece. Furthermore, the internal heat generation heats the air inside the enclosure, causing a heat build-up phenomenon, and the trapped heat causes re-thermal deformation of the machine tool structure. As a result, machine tools with enclosures are subject to extremely complex thermal deformation. On the other hand, we would like to use FEM thermal simulation to study thermal deformation countermeasures for machine tools with enclosures at the design stage, but it is difficult to analyse the heat build-up phenomenon usingconventional FEM thermal simulation. In this research, the new FEM thermal simulation technology for the heat build-up phenomenon was developed and heat build-up phenomenon in a CNC lathe with enclosure was calculated using the proposed FEM simulation technology. As a result, it had been concluded that the proposed FEM simulation could calculate with high accuracy for the phenomenon of heat build-up in a CNC lathe with enclosure, and the proposed technology is very effective in the design.

The aim of the study was to determine the influence of the amount of a commonly used binder in foundry work, furfuryl resin - on the course of the thermal regeneration of used moulding sand. The thermal regeneration procedure was carried out at a temperature of 525°C, the required temperature determined according to a specific procedure, and a lower and less effective temperature of 400°C. On the basis of the ignition losses, the influence of the regeneration temperature on the effects of the procedures carried out was compared. It was found that 400°C was too low to effectively clean the binder matrix, but that the more resin in the spent sand, the more intense the cleaning effect. When the required regeneration temperature for furfuryl resin of 523°C was used, higher binder degradation kinetics were observed due to the additional energy supplied to the process from the combustion of a large amount of organic material in the moulding sand.

This article explores the possibility of using the vermiculite-lizardite granular product with 30% of vermiculite content for the potential agronomic application. The vermiculite-lizardite product was obtained by beneficiation of phlogopite mining waste (Kovdor, Murmansk region, Russia). The beneficiation scheme included a hydro separator, a spiral separator, and concentrating tables. The output of vermiculite-lizardite product was about 35%. The effect of roasting temperature on the hydrophysical and agrochemical properties of the vermiculite-lizardite material and the mono-mineral vermiculite was studied. Heat treatment of materials was performed in the laboratory shaft furnace. Based on the differential thermal analysis results, a temperature of 700℃ was selected as the upper limit and the temperature of 400℃ - as the lower limit of the temperature range in order to obtain an expanded vermiculite-reached product containing lizardite. For samples obtained in this temperature range with a step of 25℃, a set of data such as bulk density, water saturation, surface area, volume and average pore diameter, Eh, pH suspensions in water and KCl solution, chemical resistance in ammonium acetate solution buffered at pH 4.65 were obtained. The temperature range of 500-600℃ of the vermiculitelizardite granular product was determined as favorable for agronomic application.

The main purpose of the preliminary analyses presented in the paper was to compare the behaviour of the combustion engine piston made of different type of materials under thermal load. A thermomechanical FE analysis of the engine piston made of composite material was shown. A selected engine is installed in one of the popular polish tanks. The proposed new material is characterized by a low hysteresis – the differences of the coefficient of thermal expansion for heating and cooling are not significant. The results obtained for the piston made of a new material were compared with those for the current standard material. The piston was loaded by a temperature field inside it. Appropriate averaged thermal boundary conditions such as temperatures and heat fluxes were set on different surfaces of the FE model. FE analyses were carried out using MSC.Marc software. Development of the FE model was also presented. Geometrical CAD model of the piston was developed based on the actual engine piston, which was scanned using a 3D laser scanner. A cloud of points obtained from the scanner was processed and converted into a 3- dimensional solid model. FE model of a quarter part of the piston was developed for the preliminary analysis presented in the paper. 4-node tetrahedron finite elements were applied since there was no axial symmetry of the considered object. The temperature field inside the piston was determined and presented in the form of contour bands. Contours of displacement and stress in a radial direction were shown as well.
