Opis:
Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a non-traditional machining process widely used in manufacturing to create complex geometries on hard-to-machine materials. The tool material used in EDM plays a crucial role in determining the machining performance and final surface finish of the workpiece. In this research, we aimed to optimize the tool selection for creating circular holes on SG iron (grade 450/12) using EDM. To this end, we employed a step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) based combined compromise solution (CoCoSo) approach to evaluate the performance of different tool materials under various machining conditions. The machining conditions considered in this study included peak current (I), pulse-on time (Ton), and inter-electrode gap (IEG). The results of our study showed that the CoCoSo approach is an effective method for tool selection in EDM, and it can be used to identify the optimal tool material and machining conditions for creating circular holes on SG iron. The final appraisal scores obtained from the ranking of tool materials indicated that copper tools scored highest (2.4767, ranking 1), followed by copper tungsten (2.3615, ranking 2), while brass scored lowest (1.6606, ranking 3). Furthermore, Spearman's rank correlations for different integrated MCDM techniques were performed, which demonstrated the efficacy of this technique. It has been demonstrated that implementing the SWARA-CoCoSo method can effectively optimize the EDM process with regard to sustainable machining practices.

Opis:
The binary classifiers are appropriate for classification problems with two class labels. For multi-class problems, decomposition techniques, like one-vs-one strategy, are used because they allow the use of binary classifiers. The ensemble selection, on the other hand, is one of the most studied topics in multiple classifier systems because a selected subset of base classifiers may perform better than the whole set of base classifiers. Thus, we propose a novel concept of the dynamic ensemble selection based on values of the score function used in the one-vs-one decomposition scheme. The proposed algorithm has been verified on a real dataset regarding the classification of cutting tools. The proposed approach is compared with the static ensemble selection method based on the integration of base classifiers in geometric space, which also uses the one-vs-one decomposition scheme. In addition, other base classification algorithms are used to compare results in the conducted experiments. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

Opis:
This paper deals with the problem of selection the most suitable trip-modelling tool (TMT), which is a part of the more complex integrated transport planning system (ITPS) at the regional scale. Since an application of TMT is not autonomous and several different users exist the selection problem is not a trivial. In this paper, an original five-phase selection procedure is presented. The first phase consists in specification of both, detailed expectations of all identified users and technical requirements of ITPS. Second phase deals with research on available TMT while a third one is concentrated on defining a comprehensive set of criteria. In this phase critical criteria as well as selection criteria are defined. First one is utilised to eliminate unacceptable TMTs in phase four and second one to evaluate and select most adequate TMT in phase five. In the paper an exemplary application of this procedure is presented. The authors have defined 2 critical criteria and a set of 19 selection criteria. The last one is divided into 3 main subsets, i.e. functional, technical and financial contexts of selection process. All the selection criteria are characterised by 43 sub-criteria and some of them are more detailed extended. Using this procedure 3 out of 6 alternative TMTs including Emme, Aimsun and Visum have been initially accepted and next evaluated. Finally, Visum has been selected and recommended for application into ITPS.
