Opis:: The article presents the meaning of professional work as experienced by teachers in the midlife transition period (the concept by P. Oleś). Qualitative research conducted with the use of an autobiographical method (a reference to the journal writing tradition of F. Znaniecki and his followers, including pedeutology experts) has been placed within the framework of everyday life sociology as presented by A. Schütz, P. Berger and T. Luckmann, and P. Sztompka. The purpose of the presented study is to focus on how the stage of one’s development influences the quality of work and determines the meaning and importance of professional experiences. In order to describe it, a reference has been made to the research conducted among 6 female teachers in the midlife transition period.

Opis:: Family policy is a set of legal norms, actions and measures launched by the state to create appropriate living conditions for the family, its formation, proper functioning, and the fulfilment of all its important social roles. Transformation is an intentional process of changing one piece of the environment implemented over a period to create a new and primarily sustainable state of the environment. The author presents demographic data reflecting the process of the individualization of contemporary culture, which translates into changes in the contemporary family model. The main aim of the article is to present the changes taking place in the contemporary model of family policy in Poland and to analyze these phenomena.

Opis:: The problem of eliminating natural gas microflows through the cement slurry while bonding has been investigated by scientists in a number of scientific and research centers. Works have been undertaken to define the causes of gas migration and predict possibilities of interchannel communication in the hardened cement slurry. In the course of bonding cement slurry changes its state from liquid through gel to solid. Accordingly, the gas migration effects should be taken into account in the formation of these phases. The results of tests of gas migration in the course of binding and building structural strength have been presented in this paper. Both research methods have been compared and a high dependence of parameters defined by each of them has been found. The research works were conducted with the use of innovative apparatuses thanks to which the phenomena taking place in the course of binding can be observed. This gives the possibility of working out recipes of sealing slurries applicable to deposits where the risk of occurrence of gas migration is high.

Opis:: Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą przybliżenia problematyki „okresu przejściowego”, jaki zdaniem teoretyków marksistowskich, powinien nastąpić po obaleniu kapitalizmu przez rewolucję robotniczą. Podstawowym odniesieniem są dla mnie poglądy, jakie prezentowali marksiści podczas trzech „debat ekonomicznych” na temat „budowy socjalizmu” (debata o kalkulacji, debata o planowaniu w ZSRR i na Kubie po rewolucji). W celu opisu, w jaki sposób marksizm podchodzi do kwestii postkapitalistycznej rzeczywistości, bazowałem głównie na pismach Karola Marksa, Fryderyka Engelsa, Lwa Trockiego i Ernesta Mandela, w oparciu o które próbowałem stworzyć zarys modelu społeczno-gospodarczego. Opis, jaki wyłania się z prac wymienionych autorów, przedstawia społeczeństwo oparte na demokracji robotniczej w miejscu pracy (aspekt ekonomiczny) i na poziomie państwa (aspekt polityczny) oraz planowaniu demokratycznemu, mającemu na celu sukcesywne zaspokajanie oraz bardziej złożonych potrzeb społecznych. Tak opisany model postkapitalistycznego społeczeństwa stanowi radykalnie zaprzeczenie rzeczywistości, jaka istniała w (post)stalinowskich reżimach biurokratycznych.
This article attempts to present the question of the co-called transition period, which according to Marxist theoreticians, emerges after the overthrow of capitalism by the workers’ revolution. The main sources for my study are the views of those Marxists who, directly or indirectly, participated in the three “great debates” about socialist economics (calculation debate, debates about planning in the Soviet Union and in revolutionary Cuba). To present how Marxism describes the question of Post-capitalist reality, I rely on the writings of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Leon Trotsky and Ernest Mandel, and I try to create an outline of social-economic model. Description, which emerged from writings of the aforementioned authors, presents a society based on workers’ democracy in the workplace (economic) and state (political) levels and democratic planning, whose aim is to satisfy the needs. Such a description of the Post-capitalist society is radically different from the reality of the Stalinist bureaucratic regimes.

This paper discusses the outcomes of the first stage of conducted qualitative research on professional socialization of novice teachers. The presented analysis refers to the transition period from the role of a student to that of an employee and uncovers the less well-known empirically side of the coin in teacher training with regards to professional socialization of novice teachers – the perspective of constructing one’s professional path at the intersection of two cultures: the culture of academia and the workplace culture.

Opis:: The objective of the study was to determine the effect of replacing triticale (high rumen degradable starch) with maize grain (low rumen degradable starch) during the transition period and the first 120 days of lactation on metabolic and hormonal profile indices, milk production and fertility performance in cows. Forty-eight Holstein-Friesian dairy cows were divided into 4 groups: TT (2.5 kg triticale grain/cow per day supplemented from 14 days prepartum to day 120 postpartum), TM (2.5 kg triticale grain/cow per day supplemented from day 14 before parturition to calving, and then 2.5 kg maize grain to 120 days of lactation), MT (2.5 kg maize grain/cow per day supplemented from day 14 before parturition to calving, and then 2.5 kg triticale grain to 120 days of lactation), MM (2.5 kg maize grain/cow per day supplemented from 14 days prepartum to day 120 postpartum). Blood samples were collected 3 weeks and 1 week before calving and on days 14, 56 and 70 of lactation, and they were analyzed in terms of concentrations of glucose, insulin, leptin, insulin-like growth factor I, nonesterified fatty acids, triglycerides, cholesterol, blood urea nitrogen and activities of aspartate aminotransferase and gamma glutamyl transpeptidase. Milk samples were collected twice a day at weekly intervals and analyzed for fat, protein and lactose. Milk yield and individual dry mater intake were recorded at weekly intervals. Body condition was estimated 3 weeks before calving, on parturition day and on days 14, 56 and 120 of lactation. Replacing triticale grain with maize grain in the transition period and during lactation positively affected fertility of lactating cows. An increased first service conception rate and shortening of the days open period was observed in MM and TM groups in comparison to those found in group MT (P ≤ 0.05). The lowest number of services per conception was recorded in groups MM and TM (P ≤ 0.05). Although the impact of milk production and the most of the blood indices were not significantly affected by this treatment, the results of the study suggest that maize grain in the transition period and lactation might be a more effective energy source for dairy cows than triticale grain.

Opis:: Food safety and quality are main issues in food economics. The first part of this paper deals with food quality in Poland before and after the process of integration with the EU. The conducted analysis have confirmed the improvement of Polish food quality. The sanitary conditions of Polish processing plants have also improved. But the concentration of nitrates is still very high in some vegetable products. The second part contains an analysis of the Polish exports and imports and their changes in the economic transition process. Wheat imports were higher than exports. In addition to this, the survey proved that Poland is self-sufficient in food production and food safety has improved in the transition period.
