W pracy przedstawiono podstawy teoretyczne maksymalizacji odporności na zużywanie tribologiczne układów ciał stałych. Zaprezentowano metodykę badawczą i stanowisko do badania tarcia technicznie suchego metali. Ponadto przedstawiono wnioski z badań próbek metali w warunkach maksymalnej odporności na zużywanie tribologiczne. Stwierdzają one, że maksymalizacja odporności na zużywanie tribologiczne warunkowana jest zachodzeniem w systemie tribologicznym procesów stacjonarnych, gdy temperatura styku tarciowego jest zbliżona do temperatury charakterystycznej. Występuje wtedy równowaga między ilością rozpraszanej energii mechanicznej i energią odprowadzaną z systemu do otoczenia na sposób ciepła.
Some theoretical background information is presented in the paper on the wearing of the solid materials caused by the friction process. A testing method and an experimental set-up for experiments with the dry metal friction is presented. Moreover some conclusions are included from tests of metal samples carried out in the conditions of maximum resistance against friction wearing. They say that the maximum resistance occurs when a stationary process takes place in the friction system at the rate temperature. Then the balance exists between the dissipated mechanical energy and the energy taken out from the system in the form of the heat.

In this research, the carbon particle dispersions are made in two different levels as carbon nano tube (CNT) and carbon particle in microns range. The mechanical strength is evaluated for the composites developed by axial loading and bending test analysis. In addition, the air jet abrasive particle erosion study is performed for different angle of impingement. The dispersion of carbon particle in the matrix material has reduced the mechanical strength. The sample with 4% of CNT dispersion in the composite has a maximum strength of 143 MPa and a minimum strength of 112 MPa. For the same combination (4% of CNT composite), the maximum flexural strength is 116 MPa. It is clear to infer that the strength of CNT in matrix materials is superior to the increase in length of carbon particle. The dispersion of carbon particle in the matrix material increases the brittleness and the strength is diminished. During the flexural bending, the fiber delamination occurred with severe deformation in the plain composite. When the materials are subjected to impingement of solid particle, the attrition effect on the exposed surfaces is vulnerable towards erosive mechanism. The presence of carbon in the matrix material has significantly increased the surface property. The results are appreciable for 4% of CNT composite. Especially at 30º, the minimum erosive wear 0.0033 g/g has been recorded. Erosive wear is less at minimum impingement angle and the wear is found increasing at higher impingement angle. Therefore, it is recommended not to add carbon particle to a higher weight percentage, since it leads to brittleness.

Due to favorable mechanical, tribological and biomedical properties the carbon coatings are of interest of many branches of the industry [1]. Growing interest in Ag doped DLC coatings is observed within the space of the last several years. Both, well known antibacterial properties [2] of silver as well as a good biocompatibility [3] of carbon coatings constitute the outstanding solution for a variety of applications, especially for medical implants. The aim of this study was the evaluation of influence of silver onto the mechanical and tribological properties of nanocomposite DLC coatings. Carbon coatings were produced using a hybrid RFPACVD/MS method and silver ions were incorporated into carbon matrix. The processes consist of followed stages: synthesis of nanocomposite carbon (CVD) doped titanium coatings (PVD)[4] and next stage carbon (CVD) and silver deposition (PVD)or Ag ion implantation into carbon coating. Carbon layers synthesis was performed with use of the classic RF PACVD process in methane atmosphere whereas as the titanium ions source the pulsed magnetron sputtering (MS) process was applied. Second stage was performed in the same reaction chamber but the PVD process was carried out using the silver cathode. The ion implantation process was carried out with the use of silver ions with energy of 15 keV. In order to determine the influence of silver ion implantation process onto overall physiochemical properties of carbon coatings four ion doses of 2,4,7 and 10×1016Ag+/cm2 were applied. Due to application of the gradient of chemical composition of Ti–C it is possible to manufacture thick and well adherent carbon layers with a very good mechanical, tribological parameters and corrosion resistive. Application of silver as a doping material allowed modification of the mechanical and biological properties of manufactured layers depending on the silver amount (C:Ag ratio).

Research studies on bio-tribological protective coatings of titanium, chromium and carbon based have been performed. Thin films were fabricated by hybrid PLD technique (PLD supported by magnetron sputtering). Coatings consisted of two parts; the inner part (first from the substrate) in each case was formed by titanium or chromium/titanium nitride or chromium nitride (Ti/TiN or Cr/Cr2N). The outer part was formed by pure DLC or multilayer DLC'Ti or Cr. No delamination was found at the interface. Titanium or chromium metallic layer was deposited as a first layer directly on the metallic substrate to avoid delamination. All individual layers were built of columnar nano- crystallites. Mechanisms of the mechanical wear of analyzed systems were presented, focusing on the cracking propagation in ball-on-disc tests using an 1 N and 5 N applied loads for 5 000 cycles. Complex microstmcture analysis of presented nano-multilayer coatings, before and after mechanical tests, were performed by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The highest stress concentration during mechanical uploading was moved through the multilayer coating by breaking only one layer at the time. The microstructure characterization revealed that cracking propagating in the outer part of the coating was stopped at the interface. In the case of the inner part of the coating Ti/TiN; Cr/Cr2N, ceramic layers showed brittle cracking, while metallic (Ti or Cr) ones deformed plastically. Fabricated coatings were subjected under the analysis in the biomechanical system optimized to test for the direct contact with a human whole blood. The study considered physiological conditions mainly related to the temperature and humidity and the frequency of cyclic deformation of the artificial vessel into which the tested sample was introduced.

Opis:
The results of tribological tests and microstructure examinations of tin babbit with 1.5 % Pb addition after heat treatment are presented in this paper. The specimens were annealed at 150°C for 2, 8, 24 and 48 hours and then tested for wear resistance and Brinell hardness. The wear tests were carried out using a block-on-ring tester operating under dry and wet conditions. The samples were also investigated by light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Opis:
Phase compositions of composite materials determine their performance as well as physical and mechanical properties. Depending on the type of applied matrix and the kind, amount and morphology of the matrix reinforcement, it is possible to shape the material properties so that they meet specific operational requirements. In the paper, results of investigations on silver alloy matrix composites reinforced with ceramic particles are presented. The investigations enabled evaluation of hardness, tribological and mechanical properties as well as the structure of produced materials. The matrix of composite material was an alloy of silver and aluminium, magnesium and silicon. As the reinforcing phase, 20-60 μm ceramic particles (SiC, SiO2, Al2O3 and Cs) were applied. The volume fraction of the reinforcing phase in the composites was 10%. The composites were produced using the liquid phase (casting) technology, followed by plastic work (the KOBO method). The mechanical and tribological properties were analysed for plastic work-subjected composites. The mechanical properties were assessed based on a static tensile and hardness tests. The tribological properties were investigated under dry sliding conditions. The analysis of results led to determination of effects of the composite production technology on their performance. Moreover, a relationship between the type of reinforcing phase and the mechanical and tribological properties was established.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki stanowiskowych badań zużycia tribologicznego sekcji tłoczących rzędowych pomp wtryskowych. Przeanalizowano charakter uszkodzeń zużyciowych tłoczka sekcji przy zasilaniu pompy wtryskowej standardowym olejem napędowym oraz biopaliwem na bazie estrów oleju lnianki. Badania przeprowadzono na pompach wtryskowych firmy MOTORPAL wykorzystywanych w silniku 4CT90.
The paper presents the results of test-stand experiments of the pumping sections of the in-line injection pumps. The analysis included damage of the piston occurring when the pump was supplied with regular diesel fuel and methyl esters of linseed dodder. The research was conducted with MOTORPAL injection pumps used in the 4CT90 diesel automotive engine.

The paper discusses the influence of the hardness of polyurethane MPC on tribological properties, which are the averages and instantaneous coefficients of friction and the temperature of the friction pair. For the tests, polyurethane of the following Shore hardness was selected: 75° Sh A, 80° Sh A, 85° Sh A, 90° Sh A. The tests were performed using an Amsler wear testing machine.
W pracy przedstawiono wpływ twardości poliuretanu MPC na właściwości tribologiczne, określany poprzez wartość średnią i chwilową współczynnika tarcia i temperatury pary trącej. Do testów użyto poliuretanu o twardościach: 75° Sh A, 80° Sh A, 85° Sh A, 90° Sh A. Badania przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem testera Amslera.

The condition of the conical surface of the needle and seat in a fuel atomizer can be assessed by using the acoustic emission method. The assessment of this conical tribological pair can be performed by up-to-date measurement methods that substantially enhance the quality of evaluating the technical condition of conical surfaces of the atomizer needle and seat.

In the paper usefulness of semi-Markovian processes for modelling real processes which occur in the operational phase of various technical objects, is considered. The usefulness of this theory was proved by presenting specific features of the semi-Markovian processes and physical aspects of their use as models of the processes occurring in the operational phase of the objects in question. The specific features were described with taking into account the process of changing the technical states of such objects. The physical aspects of models in the form of semi-Markovian processes were justified by postulating a hypoŹthesis by which wear process of tribological units of crucial sub-assemblies of machines, can be explained. Also, the consequences logically resulting from the hypothesis and necessary to its verification, are discusŹsed. A method for its verification is also attached. It was proved possible to model the real processes in question by means of the continuous semi-Markovian processes of finite set of states.
