Opis:
In recent years, a significant number of one- and two-seat lightweight helicopters have come into existence, and this makes it possible to analyse parameters and determine dependencies for this class of helicopters. The knowledge of such dependencies is necessary at the preliminary design stage. The analysis performed in this paper and its comparison with the statistical data of all categories of helicopters made it possible to determine the necessary corrections in the methods of determining the parameters of the helicopter’s rotor systems.

Opis:
In recent years, a large number of one- to two-seat-type helicopters have appeared, raising the possibility to determine the dependencies inherent in these classes. Such dependencies are extremely necessary at the preliminary design stage, in particular, for determining the fuel mass. The relative mass of fuel depends on the required range and flight time of the helicopter, as well as on the characteristics of the engine and the required power of the helicopter. Based on statistical data, the article presents an approximate relation of the hourly fuel consumption of engines that small helicopters are equipped with. The additional amount of fuel required to complete missions has also been determined. General dependency of the fuel weight that can be used at the preliminary design stage is presented according to the analysis results.

Opis:
A modern main rotor, dedicated to the ultralight helicopter, has been designed and optimised. Due to assumed simplicity of the rotor design and taking into account some technological constraints, the principal purpose of the presented research was to design a dedicated airfoil which, when applied on the main-rotor blades, would influence satisfactory improvement in a performance of the ultralight helicopter, especially in fast flight. The design and optimisation process has been supported by a computational methodology. The in-house software has been used for direct and inverse design of shapes of the rotor-blade airfoils. Aerodynamic properties of the airfoils as well as the helicopter main rotor were evaluated based on both the two-dimensional and three-dimensional flow simulations conducted using the ANSYS FLUENT software that was used to solve U/RANS equations. Based on the results of conducted computational simulations of fast flight of the ultralight helicopter, it can be concluded that the newly designed main rotor, compared to the baseline, may give certain improvement in helicopter performance in fast flight. In addition, the application of this newly designed rotor may lead to increase of a maximum speed of the helicopter flight, due to the greater lift force achievable by this rotor on the retreating blade, which is favourable from point of view of keeping of a lateral balance of the helicopter in fast flight.

Opis:
The paper presents a study on concept of ultra-light vehicle created by innovatory technology with laminate panels what provided low weight of self-supporting body and in consequences low vehicle weight. The usage of panels with aluminum honeycomb core and glass fiber based skins allows creating large flat surfaces for interior and vehicle body without any additional treatment. Glued panels with aluminium core make closed, rigid structure of self-supporting body with relatively low weight. Independent suspension system which components are made of carbon fiber also guarantees low weight. Vehicle is powered by two electric motors BLDC type with power of 2 kW each, and they are placed in rear wheels. Low vehicle weight has important meaning, particularly for electric vehicles and its range. Presented vehicle belongs to L6-e category and does not require any licenses for driving. The vehicle is dedicated for disable people on wheel chairs. The fundamental problem for disable people on wheelchairs is getting inside a vehicle without any help. Proposed solution at the conceptual vehicle allows for getting the wheel chair inside the vehicle by the use of lower part of the rear door and the wheel chair play a role of the vehicle seat. Such solution also makes that the level of physical disability has no influence on auxiliary devices used for vehicle driving.

Opis:
The ground proximity may significantly improve the performance of the aircraft, but in some conditions, it affects its stability. The gain of lift which and reduction of drag during low altitude flight is known as the wing in ground effect (WIG effect). It may concern aircrafts or WIG-crafts (ground effect vehicles). In the article experimental results of the wind tunnel test of an aircraft in ground effect has been presented. The main aim of the test was to investigate the ground effect influence on aerodynamic characteristic of the of the ultralight high-wing aircraft model during early take off, taxiing or final landing stage. Investigation was carried out in the 1.5 m diameter low speed T-1 wind tunnel in the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw. The velocity was 32 m/s and Reynolds number related to the aerodynamic chord was equal about 0.37·106. Tests were performed for chosen angles of attack in range 0-10⁰. During investigation, the strain gauge balance measurements and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) flow visualization technique were applied. Tested model position was relatively close to the ground. It was found, that the ground proximity has significant influence on the pitching moment. The normal force was increased and the axial force is decreased due to the WIG effect, which is compatible with the theory. It has significant meaning for control aircraft issue and safety.

Opis:
Very light and ultra-light aircraft are among the means of transport that can deliver high-speed transport between urban centers in the future. Propulsion systems for such aircraft use piston internal combustion engines. The article analyzes the structural differences between them and automotive engines. Selected engines that are available on the market have been presented. The construction of the body and head; the timing systems; intake systems, exhaust and power supply; powertrains and engine mounts as well as safety and regulatory requirements were analyzed. There were significant differences between the two structures, resulting from the different requirements and operating conditions.

Opis:
This study identifies a practical and scalable entry point for hydrogen-powered aviation by applying a systems engineering and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) approach. Given persistent challenges –including hydrogen storage limitations, integration constraints, and a lack of supporting infrastructure – the most viable early application is found in a Light or Ultralight training aircraft. A hydrogen electric configuration using Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells and high-pressure gaseous hydrogen storage is proposed. This solution minimizes technical and logistical barriers, aligns with existing flight school operations, and offers a pathway toward broader adoption of hydrogen in aviation.

Opis:
The article discusses studies and corrosion tests of binary Mg-Li alloys for plastic forming examined in an alkaline medium (5% NaCl solution) for the time of 0-144 hours. In short it can be stated that the increase of Li content in magnesium alloys from 3% to 9% increases the corrosion resistance of alloy (the lowest susceptibility to corrosion in NaCl solution showed Mg- Li9 alloy). Increasing the content of Li in alloy to over 9% resulted in a significant increase of the susceptibility to corrosion.
