Opis:: The age-old philosophical idea of universalism defended by Husserl has in our times come under heavy inter-continental intellectualistic attacks. Advocates of localism, relativism and particularity have accused it of being a form of “Euro centrism”, and thus of being an essentially hegemonic concept. This paper examines Michael H. Mitias on challenges of universalism. Despite its short-comings, Mitias is perfectly in order when he insists that universalism does not set cultural understandings aside, for it does not iconoclastically view them as the cultural muck of history or as a cluster of irrational prejudices. This may be a good start point in terms of the future needs of our humanity and collective destiny, but it may not be enough to secure this future for all of us.

Opis:: The moral standards presented in the Bible are unveiling themselves in the process of the cultural and the theological development. Quite frequently the biblical morality stands in the context of an idea of the Covenant. Eventually in the very heart of the biblical ethic we’re finding values which were fundamental for a specific kind of a human existence and human way to God. The way the Bible understands as the Covenant which is constructed on the primary and the constitutive gift of a relation between the human being and God. The theologians of the Covenant are pointing out universal ethical conclusions even thou those findings are connected with only one nation chosen by God. At the culmination point of the development of the Covenant idea, in the New Testament proclaiming, takes place an annunciation of morality which has its core in the law of love. This kind of law is understood as a new creatio. Its essence is a dynamic character of morality which comes from an unchanging moral rules. God – staying unchangeable in His gift of morality – allows the human understanding of the gift of love to mature continually in fluently changing historical reality.

Opis:: The paper refers to the discussion between different philosophical approaches to problems brought by globalisation. Building various concepts in social and political philosophy requires both rejecting radical relativism as well as finding alternatives to fundamentalism. Between radical approaches there is space for a reasonable ethics and theory of politics. I conclude with Wiktor Osiatynski’s “soft universalism” of human rights, which can be deployed as a tool for building compromise between contradictory standpoints.

Opis:: The activities of the two chambers of the Polish parliament – the Sejm and the Senate – during the twenty years of Poland’s membership in the European Union can be analysed by taking two research approaches, the ﬁrst of which is universalism, which addresses the civilisational need to build, harmonise, and unify. Universalism, which refers to the neo-functionalism paradigm, has characterised the European activity of both chambers of the Polish parliament. The other perspective is provided by neo-realist particularism, which takes an anti-idealist and anti-utopian stance. It is distinguished by national egotism expressed as an attachment to achieving the nation’s own interests. Today, particularism understood in this way is based on sovereign distinctiveness, independence, and self-reliance. The purpose of this article is to positively verify the hypothesis that the parliamentary dimension of Poland’s membership in the EU observed through the participation of the Sejm and Senate in the process of Europeanisation and de-Europeanisation simultaneously contributes to the dependence and independence of both chambers on the European Union and its institutions. The universalist and particularist approaches have allowed the author of this analysis to reach an empirically-conﬁrmed conclusion that both chambers of the Polish parliament in the period under study had an inﬂuence on the following: (1) the political power of the government, reinforcing or sapping it during negotiations; (2) the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of coalition-building in the EU; (3) cooperation with or resistance to the dominance of the parliaments of large EU states; (4) varied responsibility for the integrative system as a united and harmonious whole; and (5) the union of the peoples of Europe or a Europe of Homelands.

Opis:: John 3:16 is undoubtedly one of the best known and most beloved verses in all of Scripture. At the same time, when ripped from its literary, historical and theological contexts as it so often is, this verse can become merely a pious, sentimental saying bereft of its true, earth-shaking message. Thus this study provides not only an exegetical analysis of the verse, but also the exposition of its various contexts: literary (the interchange between Jesus and Nicodemus on the entrance into the kingdom of God), historical (the destruction of the Jerusalem temple and the worldwide mission of the early Church) and theological (the OT, NT and John’s Gospel concepts of God’s universal love). God’s love for the world, and the salvific mission flowing from it, are most beneficially viewed from a salvation-historical perspective, as the core Trinitarian outreach in which all are called to take part by putting faith in Jesus.

Opis:: Th e work of man is a subject that falls within the interest of various scientifi c disciplines. In this article, it is considered from the perspective of pedagogy, specifi cally one of the sub-disciplines of labour pedagogy. It is a universal concept, constituting an important research problem in this scientifi c sub-discipline. Th e purpose of the discussions in this study is to show the relevance of the universal dimension of human labour in light of the socio-economic transformations that are occurring extremely rapidly, especially in recent years. Th is was done using a literature analysis, mainly of the latest research. Scientifi c research and theoretical analyses on the topic of labour have not been frequently undertaken by labour pedagogues lately. In analysing the literature on this subject, the directions and character of permanent changes in labour were emphasised. Recognising that labour still is and will be a universal value, at least in the foreseeable future, the necessity of adapting education, mainly vocational, to anticipated changes was stressed. Th erefore, this remains a current area of research and analysis concerning human labour and education for labour, as well as in the course of labour.
Praca człowieka to zagadnienie będące w obszarze zainteresowań różnych dyscyplin naukowych. W niniejszym artykule rozpatrywana jest w ujęciu pedagogiki, a w szczególności jednej z subdyscyplin pedagogiki pracy. Jest to pojęcie uniwersalne, stanowiące ważny problem badawczy tej subdyscypliny naukowej. Celem rozważań w tym opracowaniu jest ukazanie aktualności uniwersalnego wymiaru pracy człowieka w świetle przeobrażeń społeczno-gospodarczych zachodzących niezwykle szybko, szczególnie w ostatnich latach. Zrobiono to wykorzystując analizę literatury, głównie najnowszej. Badania naukowe i analizy teoretyczne na temat pracy nie były ostatnio zbyt często podejmowane przez pedagogów pracy. Analizując literaturę na ten temat podkreślano kierunki i charakter permanentnych zmian w pracy. Uznając, że praca nadal jest i będzie wartością uniwersalną, przynajmniej w dającej się przewidzieć przyszłości, podkreślono konieczność dostosowywania edukacji, głównie zawodowej do antycypowanych zmian. Jest to więc nadal aktualny obszar badań i analiz dotyczących pracy człowieka oraz edukacji dla pracy, a także w toku pracy.

Opis:: Opposition between the notion of universalism, created in the age of Enlightenment and the Romantic tradition, which dominates in Central Europe is discussed in the article. Universalism is understood as the process of emancipation of man, but at the same time, in countries ‘between Russia and Germany’ it is also understood as the rule of adherence. In the Romantic tradition there is the symbolic extrapolation of historic experiences and the use of metaphors that have ethical universalism, both of which are described by the author in this article. The understanding of culture as a spiritual sphere w hich unites the national spirit was destroyed in the 20th century due to totalitarianism, but this grotesque tragedy from our absurd history has created ‘anti-modern modernism'.

Opis:: This article deals with the universal nature of human rights recognised by all civilisations and legal systems. The important thing is that the actions of the state are consistent with the content of these rights is justified by the fact that they protect the dignity of every human being and enable cooperation between people. Universal treaties impose the same international legal obligations in the field of human rights on as many states as possible. Regional treaties perform this function in relation to a group of states. It seems, however, that for the full protection of an individual’s rights, the ideas of universalism and regionalism of human rights need to complement each other. No regional system can exist if it is inconsistent with the norms and principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
